Again, Ben makes a GREAT point on what's called VALUE. Is the Raptor really worth over $75000? No, I dont think so
I had an f150 and the clunking was so bad was one of the reasons I lemon lawed it. It would surge and the clunk was audibly loud and would shake the whole cabin at times. Sometimes it was minor like what yours is doing. I have a 2019 sierra Denali with the 10 speed and it doesn't do it at all. Transmission works perfectly. Worst thing about the sierra are the seats.
Hello ben how are you doing? Are you plan on keeping your raptor or trading it in and getting another dodge. A friend of mine bought a 2019 ford f150 4x4 he had it 5 months and started having transmission problems. He got rid of it and bought him a 2019 dodge power wagon he loves it. I'm thinking about getting 1 like his. I might get a rebel. You take care.
Sounds like you have one that has the cam phaser problem, I believe I would get it checked out, yours sounds the same as mine just before they were replaced. Just a heads up
I don't know much about the 10 spd trannys but I've been told to give it time, they'll smooth out. It's a learning transmission. Gas, mine gets 10.5-11 mpg in the city so count yourself lucky. Lolol Premium fuel not a must for a turbo but is recommended. Love the orange/black. If I was getting a Gen2 Raptor, yours would be exactly how I'd order mine. Just wish I could've afforded something like this at 22!
I went from the '18 to the '20 and it's definitely a different truck. I also had the hard transmissions shifts but mostly in sports mode in my '18. The transmission just had to be rest by the dealership. I haven't experienced it on my '20 yet.
I own a 2010 raptor with a 5.4... its reliable, great for rough terrain, and I use to pull my race car with it. It's wide , comfy as hell for a pickup, and I love everything about it except that the shocks don't last long, the motor isn't a 6.2, and my exhaust manifold gasket is failing. It's got 98k miles and has been a great vehicle. I like gen 2 Raptors but if I could do it over I would of bought a crew cab 6.2. Ford makes great products.
I’ve had 2 trucks with the 10 spd and both have been flawless. Both have been tuned and even then it shifted smoothly. I do like the 3.4 version of sync. It would be nice if Ford would release it to the 17-19 trucks. Drive it and enjoy it!
Right?!!! I had just welcomed him to the Ford Family on his other video he posted about how it was his DREAM TRUCK three weeks ago and even praised how it was his dream truck and is already whining about it all. Go watch it! Pretty much everything he's whining about on this video, he praised on the other! Watch that video! Oh, and a week ago, he does a "Best Truck Ever," video. LOL! I've just unsubscribed.
If you watch the RPM gauge, you can see it move up briefly with the clunking. I can’t hear it through the video but I can see the RPM gauge move up a little.
So they ditched the V8 and replaced it with V6 turbo charged for fuel economy but what you showing us is the same bad fuel consumption or even worse with low reliability 😅 I love the raptor but the price and it's reliability issues especially with its gear concerned me. Maybe the Tremor with its 7.3 gasoline engine will sound and be better or with that unbelievable 6.7 liter diesel engine with its mind blowing torque 1050 of " 1423 Nm " which costs as much as this raptor costs and do more stuff except speed runs in desert and jumping but you can tow your house with you and do decent of roading 😅
Hey to each there own the Diesel is built for hauling/towing. Yes people do like V8 over V6 Turbos. In the end the Raptor with V6 Turbos, Unique looks over the stock trucks and off Road abilities is a beast truck
When Obama bailed out Dodge I sold my Dodge Hemi. I grew up with Dodge and it was the best change I ever made. Ford just fits together better no rattle and shakes like my dodge. That said the Hem is still a beast!
That shifting might be able to be tuned out. Should have something to do with shifting firmness. Snaps into gear for faster shift I think giving you that clunk
When you keep saying, “I love the truck”...but, but, but, but, tells me honestly that you are not happy or satisfied with the purchase. I have had many GM’s, Ford’s, but my 2020 Ram has been my most satisfying experience over my many years of driving!
I think the transmission issue is how when the truck in regular mode it likes to skip a gear to save gas. If you don't like that leave it in sport mode.
Guys give him a break I mean seriously he is clearly not a truck guy. There is not one real truck guy that would complain about the most off road worthy factory truck on the planet! On the planet! Wow, you are so lucky dude. I worked my butt off to get my 2018 King Ranch. Would kill for a raptor (not an orange one) a mans color. @@mugs2169 Please man my trainee at work Leased a Rebel and I bought a Raptor. His looks truck looks like a paste on addition to a standard Ram. The Raptor is its own beats even he agrees wish I leased a Raptor.
I agree my Rebel 12 is way better on the interior , not even close , and the fact they pipe a fake exhaust sound to the interior speakers is like WTF lmao , dont get me wrong Ive had fords for years and my 14 was a good ride but wow im very happy I made the switch to Ram ..!!!
Ra Wright rebel is built poorly, even worse than the new raptors. New trucks are crap quality and just look the part. It has a lot of made in China parts and won’t last more than 100 000 miles while running strong without any issues. They are overpriced fake luxury vehicles. Real luxury vehicles are Lexus and Audi.
My 2018 F150 does a thing where it seems to miss 4th gear, sometimes it is smooth, other times it feels like it skips and lurches a bit. I think there is a TSB for it but I've read mixed reviews on if it fixes the issue.
why Ben , didn't you keep the rebel go 4 wheeling in it as you want to do in the raptor ? have the real sound of a beefy engine . plus you bought it I would've I leased it for a year see if you liked it . other than that love the color
How many miles you got on your truck ? Because brand new transmissions sometimes does that. Specillly on production vehicles. Try that on track. Its cool truck bro !
Anyone with an F-150/Raptor, if you get the shift issue in low gears tell your dealer you want the software update to fix it. My 2017 did that about 1 out of every 10 times and it was aggravating. Guy in service at my dealer had one and said there is a software update they don't advertise but only install if someone tells them they are having this issue.
Ben Hardy dang ok. Probably sealed the deal for me then on not getting this truck. I just think it’s going to be way too unreliable for long term ownership.
I own a 2018 Raptor...used Forscan to get rid of fake eng sound (Ford is not the only one doing this...) I find the interior very good, but not perfect, and let me try to convince you not to waste a single dime with an aftermarket exhaust...it just makes a V6 sound louder, not better. First got my truck and the manual shifting seems to be a little lagy...but it also has an adaptive learn...I take mine out to the desert and have done about 400 off road miles in two days, ALL manual shifting...actually have over 1000 total desert miles and again all manual shifting...whats happened in my case is the manual shifting has gotten really good...shifts faster and firmer. Shift firmness is a subjective thing, the perfect shift for me may be to soft or firm for you..This is the best truck I ever drove of owned but that doesn't make it perfect in all areas...Thanks for the video!
Axle Wrap and Wheel Hopping: SVC Off Road makes traction bars that help mitigate this, but also reportedly reduce ground clearance. KrazyHouseCustoms makes a Torque Arm that appears to almost completely eliminate it without reducing ground clearance and also includes an optional rear diff skid plate that looks bad ass. I have been eyeing it for my rig, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Here's a link to a video they did with the Torque arm installed: ua-cam.com/video/zMLEi4M1ZUQ/v-deo.html Fuel economy: I noticed much better mileage on my raptor after a 4 or 5k miles. Also 4A mode does reduce overall MPG, which was the mode you had selected during your filming of MPG. I have just over 10k miles on my 19 Raptor 802A SuperCrew and I average 15-16mpg. I also only use 91, but don't know if that would play a part in my MPG. Either way, I agree with you I don't care much about MPG. Shifting was clunky as shit for me too at the start, but somewhere after 5 or 6k miles it smoothed out. It really upset me at first though, so I get where you are coming from. Cheers and enjoy!
The raptor in ALL its glory is still an F150. Went to the gym, NEVER went to charm school. I’m a truck lover, but this is the pros vs cons of your rebel. I think your rebel is a better daily and having the raptor is status and testosterone ( grown ups Tonka toy) Which is better?
It’s a dam nice truck but I still wish they would’ve had a V-8 option for this truck. I’ve owned two F150 3.5 EBs and didn’t have any issue with them but I’m on my second 6.2 and still think it’s one of the best all around engines in a pickup.
It’s a truck, hence not having padded arm rests on the doors. You need to clean those often. I have an outback that I use to access backcountry trails year round and the padded arm rests are destroyed by my dogs and are dirty as shit in the sticking. The plastic is a feature I appreciate

revistadearmas once ford in Provo gets one!
Tremor looks so good 💯in the L.A Auto show but Power Wagon interior was so awesome 🏆🥇
Sounds like you have one that has the cam phaser problem, I believe I would get it checked out, yours sounds the same as mine just before they were replaced. Just a heads up
Z06 Corvette thank you
5th thing is the MSRP. That’s a big one. But enjoy the truck. They go north of MSRP in the NE too.
I don't know much about the 10 spd trannys but I've been told to give it time, they'll smooth out. It's a learning transmission.
Gas, mine gets 10.5-11 mpg in the city so count yourself lucky. Lolol
Premium fuel not a must for a turbo but is recommended.
At least you'll be able to see it when you mall crawl.
Rogue Yamaha good one
I’ve had 2 trucks with the 10 spd and both have been flawless. Both have been tuned and even then it shifted smoothly. I do like the 3.4 version of sync. It would be nice if Ford would release it to the 17-19 trucks. Drive it and enjoy it!
millennials whine about everything lol
I still waiting about the 5 things he hated....all I hear was a bunch of freaking whining..
Not A ford fan but I would be ecstatic with a new vehicle any brand...
@@merking2001 Right? The only thing that needs to be whining in this video is a supercharger.
@POC Skellington millennials even write stupid shit like "ok boomer" 🤦♂️ 😂
If you watch the RPM gauge, you can see it move up briefly with the clunking. I can’t hear it through the video but I can see the RPM gauge move up a little.
My only complaint would be the missing fog lights but those are a quick fix. Everything else is a 10/10.
Why if you dont like the interior package, didn't you get an upgrade?
So they ditched the V8 and replaced it with V6 turbo charged for fuel economy but what you showing us is the same bad fuel consumption or even worse with low reliability 😅
I love the raptor but the price and it's reliability issues especially with its gear concerned me.
They replaced it for both POWER and fuel economy. I have an '18 that's broken in with 15k miles and it averages 17.2 overall and is pretty consistent
When Obama bailed out Dodge I sold my Dodge Hemi. I grew up with Dodge and it was the best change I ever made. Ford just fits together better no rattle and shakes like my dodge. That said the Hem is still a beast!
So... do you regret getting rid of the Rebel so soon and getting the Raptor?
Richard Masters not at all
How did you get that exterior color? I don't see that offering on the Ford website
john albrecht it’s a wrap
That shifting might be able to be tuned out. Should have something to do with shifting firmness. Snaps into gear for faster shift I think giving you that clunk
When you keep saying, “I love the truck”...but, but, but, but, tells me honestly that you are not happy or satisfied with the purchase. I have had many GM’s, Ford’s, but my 2020 Ram has been my most satisfying experience over my many years of driving!
If you look up “buyers remorse” it goes to this yt video. jk, lol
I have 2018 f150 xlt and it has the same problem
When shifting up or down 3rd gear
Bilal Agha ☹️
What you're probably experiencing when you go to throttle up is called turbo lag
Gallons and miles.... Transfer pls? What is the fuel consumption?
What happened to the sound at the end?
I think the transmission issue is how when the truck in regular mode it likes to skip a gear to save gas. If you don't like that leave it in sport mode.
I have a 2010 F150. It does same thing around 35 mph. So annoying.
So petty! Cost & fuel economy! Why did you buy the truck?!
Have you already or plan on putting a catch can in your Ford Raptor? I'm curious. Idk if I will on the 2019s
Nash Me I’m only keeping the truck for about a year
@@BenHardyCars oh really?? I see. Thanks for being honest haha. I guess I should do more research if I should or don't have to then
Nash Me I’ve got a JLT that I used for 2,000 miles on my 2019 before I got rid of it. $75 plus shipping. Let me know if you’re interested.
@@jeffreydepaolis5109 I'm interested. Can I ask... did you mean get rid of the truck? Or you just stopped using the catch can lol
@iwoww 562 pretty much an oil separator, it's a can that actively "catches" the dirty oil away
I wasted 3 minutes of my life watching this! Very annoying!
These youtube kids that are just looking for something to post and shame on all of us for watching it. Cheers all!
The raptor is an awesome truck for sure, but the interior and tech in my Rebel 12 is vastly superior.
Tech as in adjustable shocks? Oh the touch screen lol
Does have air ride and can be had for under 50k sooooo
Brian Bailey interesting
The 10 speed transmission skips gears it may never hit second unless towing it skip some gears destroying fined to get to top gear faster
@@roblundgren5226 yh for fuel economy
why Ben , didn't you keep the rebel go 4 wheeling in it as you want to do in the raptor ? have the real sound of a beefy engine . plus you bought it I would've I leased it for a year see if you liked it . other than that love the color
Gene Booher I wanted something sportier and the raptor meets that criteria
How many miles you got on your truck ? Because brand new transmissions sometimes does that. Specillly on production vehicles. Try that on track. Its cool truck bro !
You DO realize that they use essentially the same body panels as regular F-150s?
Him: 5 things i hate about the ford f150 raptor.
Me: 5 things i have to do to buy a better phone so i can see clearer the raptors im gonna watch😂😂😂
When GOD blesses me with a Ford F-150 Raptor, I'll be damned if I complain about a thing!
I thought you got a black raptor, did you rap the truck in orange ?
Racerx318 yes that was a few videos ago lol
Your Raptor is one of the better looking. I like the orange. I bought a brand new F250 crew cab 4x4 6.2 L V8 for $33,999. Cash.
Is the harsh shifting something you can detect during a test drive?
Pedro Rodriguez should be able to
Ben Hardy good to know. Is it only when you are in sport mode?
Pedro Rodriguez more in normal mode
My '15 Lariat does the same thing. The transmission issue. It's intermittent. I have 3.5L eco with 6 speed. Don't know what's causing it.
George Suchenstein newer trucks are shit quality.
Jumps? You got a bad transmission or something?
Axle Wrap and Wheel Hopping: SVC Off Road makes traction bars that help mitigate this, but also reportedly reduce ground clearance. KrazyHouseCustoms makes a Torque Arm that appears to almost completely eliminate it without reducing ground clearance and also includes an optional rear diff skid plate that looks bad ass. I have been eyeing it for my rig, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Here's a link to a video they did with the Torque arm installed: ua-cam.com/video/zMLEi4M1ZUQ/v-deo.html
Fuel economy: I noticed much better mileage on my raptor after a 4 or 5k miles.
Love the orange
The 10R80 is a quirky transmission, took mine about 1000 miles to settle in. It also shifts smoother with more throttle.
Good luck with the engine.
Why ? I dogged out my buddy with his Hemi.
It’s a truck, hence not having padded arm rests on the doors. You need to clean those often. I have an outback that I use to access backcountry trails year round and the padded arm rests are destroyed by my dogs and are dirty as shit in the sticking. The plastic is a feature I appreciate
What you like better your Rebel or Raptor?
J N raptor so far
Next video will be about 5 things I love about my 2020 tangerine orange Ford Raptor. Bet!!!
Hector Luevanos that was last weeks video lol
@@BenHardyCars My bad, I guess I missed it. Stay positive brother!!!!!!!
Holy crap!!! 12.8 mpg? I’m getting 16.3 at the moment.
You haven’t aged one bit since Napoleon Dynamite
So you bought the cheap base model, but you were expecting platinum edition?
Its 80°f right now here in Houston
I'd buy one if there was a full electric model with 1000 km range.
