When you start the Raptor, the exhaust defaults in quiet or regular mode. You have to manually put the exhaust into Baja mode every time you start the truck. Very few people know this when comparing sound.

I have one of these trucks, you don’t want to be in 4A cause it’s not 4wd until the truck detects tire spin it’s always engaged but not active if you know what I mean, 4HI is best for launching, I boost up to about 8psi which is about 2k rpm, and I’ll get around 3.8-4.2 0-60 depending on the surface. Granted my truck is making near 650 whp, which is probably around 750-800 at the crank
I figured you had the raptor in 4 high to help wheel spin launch, on those rolling starts try the raptor in 2 high instead. You say on the torque steer when launching, make some runs in 2 high & see if it's a difference.
I currently have a Gen 2 Raptor and I fell in love with the TRX when it first came out. Ford should have really done a supercharged V8 on the Gen 3 from the beginning. Really like the TRX screen but overall would take time Raptor R in a heartbeat. Thanks for the comparison.
I love the trx as I bought one after trading in my f150. But I do wish they had a 2wd only option instead of auto 4wd. You can buy a tazer and plug it in and sort of force the truck into 2wd which is cool but still sucks you have to buy the plug in to do it. At the end of it all, just awesome we live in a day where we have modern muscle car/truck era.
So the Ford can do 2wheel (ie burnouts) and the trx you have to buy a plug in to do burnouts? Ignorant question I know, but when I get ignorant money I'll do ignorant things in my truck
Not sure if it would have really made a difference, but since Brian isn't used to the TRX or raptor I think you guys should have did all the same tests again but swap trucks. I think it would be a little more fair in my opinion since you are more used to them. Not to mention since the TRX isn't his maybe he wasn't giving it his all in fear of damaging something. I don't know, just my 2 cents. Both seem like great trucks that I'd never be able to afford xD

I would really like to see you two swap trucks and race them again. Just to see if there is a difference. With the Raptor weighing less, but having larger tires than the TRX, it does appear the Raptor is a bit quicker. I would just love to see the drivers swap trucks. So do ANOTHER video.

I love the way a Dodge TRX street stance is so mean looking but I am a Ford Raptor fan through and through. My 2011 Raptor has a mean street stance with 6" lift and 37" and wider tires. I can't wait to get my new Raptor R and feel the power. Love the comparison of the two. Awesome job and maybe even now made me a more of a TRX fan? Ok definitely an admirer of it's beefy mean exhaust for sure! 😃
As a former ford fan boy and gen 2 raptor owner, I now have a TRX. Haven’t second guessed that decision once. TRX looks meaner, way nicer interior… annnnnd you can actually buy one at MSRP or lower. Without a long wait. TRX handsdown for me
TRX looks, sound, suspension, but RaptoR's weight! You could see on the last run that R is bit faster, most likely because of 500lb difference and/or 10speed.

@@jibrilthegreat35 You might be part of the 1% then because most I see around here (northeast) are just big family haulers. I think 65-70% is a little harsh. It has similar wheel travel only about an inch less and the suspension is very good. It’s a lot heavier especially upfront but the spring rates and shocks were designed with that weight in mind.
Cosmetically the exterior of the TRX I prefer the more aggressive look, Performance wise I like the Raptor R. The During the pulls the TRX wins the exhaust sound but the Raptor R cold start is deeper and I like deeper exhaust sound. I like that you can't hear the exhaust too much in the Raptor R which means Ford did a Great job with the sound deadening for the cab. I've heard lots of electrical problems with Ram trucks. So I would pick the Raptor R over the TRX but if I had the $ I'd buy both.
Awesome video. I started the process of ordering a TRX before you made this video. Hopefully you get to keep the Raptor R a bit longer for a bit more comparison.
The TRX has a full float Dana 60 in back, with 3.55 gears I'm not sure in the Ford. Probably a 9.75 ,like the eco boost. I don't know the ratio. I've had the 10 speed Ford & now a 10 speed ZR2. Personally I think the ZF trans in the TRX is stronger & 8 speeds are enough. The 9 & 10 are so close it barely matters. I would love to own either, but I prefer the MOPAR. It's taken a long time for someone to build something that can beat the supercharge 6.2 liter Hemi. The Fords are hard to beat in looks and comfort. The one thing I really like in the TRX is NO start / stop or cylinder de activation junk on the truck. Maybe the "R" is like that too? Good video!!
there are some other reviews where both trucks are on 35 inch tires and the R really smokes the TRX the 10spd is a major advantage over the Dodge 8spd from a dig when they are on the same size tires.

TRX is the quicker trucks stock for stock. Those saying 35s vs 37s need to understand the R has 4.10s and the TRX on 3.55s, mute point. Also, a tazer will allow the TRX to be 2wd. I'm still liking the TRX better it's a better stronger engine and transmission AND rear end. No aluminum plasma lined junk block thst consumes oil. They just made 2018-2020 coyote blocks obsolete becasue of oil consumption. The TRX will last longer, trust me on that one.
The TRX ought to be on stock wheels and tires for a true comparison. I’ve got 20x12 on 35’s on my TRX and there is a huge handling difference and a small performance difference between those and the stocks.
That looked pretty conclusive to me. It’s walking away from the ram wearing 37 inch tires. Pretty damn impressive. The one win the TRX got looked like the raptor actually lost traction from the frontal view. if the TRX can’t even beat the GEN 2 off-road it doesn’t stand a chance against the raptor R.

Like other Dodge performance products (e.g.: Challenger and Charger Hellcats) off the line to weight and weight transfer, the TRX is slow comparatively speaking.
@@gottarantulas6612 the dodge is built better. Ram had won best quality for years in a row, lexis has been 2, dodge 4, jeep 6, Ford 13th, amd gm trucks at 23rd. That's been about the Ave over the last 5yrs.

Both are amazing trucks! I like the Raptor R but wish it had the larger mirrors. Those are pretty small. I like the visibility you get with the larger mirrors that also include the blind spot mirrors (like on our F-350). We've done several videos about our new Super Duty with the Godzilla engine. We love it - but the creature comforts and sound of that Raptor R are amazing.
I own a 2022 TRX and absolutely Love it but if I was in the market I would definitely consider the RaptoR... The upgrades are Sweet and I'm glad Ford didn't alter the body style.... Great looking truck!
That's dumb the raptor was designed and tuned for 37s where the TRX is not 😂 the raptor r has 4.10 gearing can't just change the tires and expect the same performance you need it to be tuned
The TRX is the winner obviously all around when looking at it from a 360 angle but power wise ford managed to tweak it to defeat the TRX finally but I would still choose the TRX over all between the hoices mainly for the aggressive look.
Both the Raptor R and the TRX are very fun trucks. And can’t go wrong with either one. I prefer the interior of the Ram a tiny bit over the Ford (well, from watching a video, both in person may be a different story lol) mainly because I just do not like full digital gauges lol Fords interior does seem more functional though, even with the silly gauges lol I’m actually glad Ford took a more quiet approach to the supercharger as that whine always sounds like a crying child to my ear (give me a turbo sound over a supercharger any day) The TRX exhaust does sound a bit better, but it has an aftermarket exhaust vs a stock exhaust on the Ford, so can’t really compare that fairly. But wow, Ford really did whoop ass with the R in performance!!! Both are fast as hell, but it’s not even close! Way to go Ford!
I made the same remark about liking analog gauges...I have a 21 Raptor and a TRX and I edge the Ram for interior,...As for the race the TRX driver sucked lol, The TRX does Win with factory tire sizes but loses slightly with 37s on TRX and factory 37s on the Raptor...That was sad races...See Throttle House and Vehicle Virgins Races...

The Raptor R is faster to 60 and to get it to launch correctly you have to do what Motor Trend did. They used the auto hold feature to get the best launch. You should have read the article then you would have gotten the best 0-60 out of the truck.
I think both truck are phenomenal, Ive owned two Raptors so I am partial. But I agree with what you said, myself haven driven a TRX I think its the better street truck, but when it comes to Offroad I think the Raptor gets the win there. Either way you can't go wrong, both are badass.
I have had both the Raptor (x2) and the TRX now. My wife and I have taken our Raptor to Baja and are looking forward to taking the TRX the Baja as well. Im happy with the TRX so far after i bought a new front bumper and trust the Hellcat vs the Predator engine. Time will tell.. lets let the dirt tell the story!
Don't take that TRX out there, that's not a real baja truck. Dodge just made a piece of crap for you to have fun with it until 140k miles, then you constantly repairing the truck

Its so many old Ford trucks still on the road it's not even funny. Dodge trucks are dam near last on the list, right in front of Mazda, and Mitsubishi. It goes like this Ford , Toyota , Nissan ,Chevy, Honda, then Dodge.
I’d say Brian was a sleep on some of those launches , the one perfect one was the usual result. Can’t afford either but like the Ram , sounds better and looks mean as hell.
The tires on the trx are wider so that’s why it has more grip and that’s why it has better handling you just don’t really notice it bc of the wide ass fenders
Great video! Please do a detailed comparison of the ride on city streets, bumps, and highway driving. I’ve heard that the Raptor R drives over bumps like a Cadillac but the TRX drives over bumps like a sports car. Is this true? And what are the pros/cons if it is true?
He deffinetley needed a better driver these trucks are way closer than that. But if you put 35s on both the raptor r beats the trx. I'm a ford guy and I dont think either is way better over all. They're both really nice trucks

Trx looks better and more aggressive. I’m more favoured to the trx. I’m shocked that the raptor has a 5.2L displacement vs the trx with the 6.2L displacement and only makes 2 more horsepower. I’m betting the cord gets a bit better mileage?
My opinion hasn't changed since the TRX first came out. The TRX is like an axe and the Raptor is a scalpel. You just have to decide which tool you need.
Love the comparison. IMO I prefer the Raptor R, styling, updated, full digital cluster, tactile buttons for heated seats, etc. Love to see a head to head comparison of Raptor R to the regular Raptor. I’m considering one or the other and am leaning towards regular Raptor as I think it will be more than good enough for my purposes. Keep the great content coming.
I personally like the TRX and I feel like the race has to be redone with someone with a quicker response time in the TRX to make it a truly even comparison 😂
After watching the video my vote is for the RapR. The TRX is an awesome truck. It looks GREAT with a GREAT engine but OMG, 500-pound difference is huge. TRX front end is too heavy for landing jumps. The RapR IMO is better built and can still thrash through trails and keep going. That's what it's meant for.
Should have swapped drivers, just to see if it was within the driver. But would buy the Raptor R over the TRX any day of the week, that truck is just sick!!!! On and off road!!

Does the Raptor R have the cabin noise eliminating speaker on it like my 2019 has? I turned mine off using Forscan, since I did have the ford performance exhaust put on and I wanted to HEAR the truck.

24 raptor r you can preset and save your settings so it starts every time however you prefer. I have mine set to start in Baja.

When you weighed both vehicles how much fuel did you have in both tanks? As I'm sure you know, fuel weighs quite a bit. Roughly 6 pounds per gallon.

The Raptor has better suspension for off road, I take my Raptor off road in arizona. And trust me, TRXs are just too heavy and cant keep up.

The one win the TRX got looked like the raptor actually lost traction from the frontal view. if the TRX can’t even beat the GEN 2 off-road it doesn’t stand a chance against the raptor R.
No other channels have takeoffs this bad. This is a horrible race. Both ram and R pulls 3.9 0-60

Like other Dodge performance products (e.g.: Challenger and Charger Hellcats) off the line to weight and weight transfer, the TRX is slow comparatively speaking.
@@gottarantulas6612 the dodge is built better. Ram had won best quality for years in a row, lexis has been 2, dodge 4, jeep 6, Ford 13th, amd gm trucks at 23rd. That's been about the Ave over the last 5yrs.

Both are amazing trucks! I like the Raptor R but wish it had the larger mirrors. Those are pretty small. I like the visibility you get with the larger mirrors that also include the blind spot mirrors (like on our F-350). We've done several videos about our new Super Duty with the Godzilla engine. We love it - but the creature comforts and sound of that Raptor R are amazing.
Mirrors make a huge difference I have a 19 f150 and my dad has a 21 but he has the big f150 tow mirrors. Looks so much better with the big mirrors

I own a 2022 TRX and absolutely Love it but if I was in the market I would definitely consider the RaptoR... The upgrades are Sweet and I'm glad Ford didn't alter the body style.... Great looking truck!

That's dumb the raptor was designed and tuned for 37s where the TRX is not 😂 the raptor r has 4.10 gearing can't just change the tires and expect the same performance you need it to be tuned

The TRX is the winner obviously all around when looking at it from a 360 angle but power wise ford managed to tweak it to defeat the TRX finally but I would still choose the TRX over all between the hoices mainly for the aggressive look.
The handling on the R is true to it's heritage it belongs off-road but it's damn quick great video thanks for the content

Both the Raptor R and the TRX are very fun trucks. And can’t go wrong with either one. I prefer the interior of the Ram a tiny bit over the Ford (well, from watching a video, both in person may be a different story lol) mainly because I just do not like full digital gauges lol
Fords interior does seem more functional though, even with the silly gauges lol
I’m actually glad Ford took a more quiet approach to the supercharger as that whine always sounds like a crying child to my ear (give me a turbo sound over a supercharger any day)
The TRX exhaust does sound a bit better, but it has an aftermarket exhaust vs a stock exhaust on the Ford, so can’t really compare that fairly.
But wow, Ford really did whoop ass with the R in performance!!!

I made the same remark about liking analog gauges...I have a 21 Raptor and a TRX and I edge the Ram for interior,...As for the race the TRX driver sucked lol, The TRX does Win with factory tire sizes but loses slightly with 37s on TRX and factory 37s on the Raptor...That was sad races...See Throttle House and Vehicle Virgins Races...

The Raptor R is faster to 60 and to get it to launch correctly you have to do what Motor Trend did. They used the auto hold feature to get the best launch. You should have read the article then you would have gotten the best 0-60 out of the truck.

I think both truck are phenomenal, Ive owned two Raptors so I am partial. But I agree with what you said, myself haven driven a TRX I think its the better street truck, but when it comes to Offroad I think the Raptor gets the win there. Either way you can't go wrong, both are badass.

I have had both the Raptor (x2) and the TRX now. My wife and I have taken our Raptor to Baja and are looking forward to taking the TRX the Baja as well. Im happy with the TRX so far after i bought a new front bumper and trust the Hellcat vs the Predator engine. Time will tell.. lets let the dirt tell the story!

Did you manipulate the exhaust note in the Raptor? Isn’t there a way to change the exhaust note from the center screen?
I’d say Brian was a sleep on some of those launches , the one perfect one was the usual result. Can’t afford either but like the Ram , sounds better and looks mean as hell.

The tires on the trx are wider so that’s why it has more grip and that’s why it has better handling you just don’t really notice it bc of the wide ass fenders

Great video! Please do a detailed comparison of the ride on city streets, bumps, and highway driving. I’ve heard that the Raptor R drives over bumps like a Cadillac but the TRX drives over bumps like a sports car. Is this true? And what are the pros/cons if it is true?

He deffinetley needed a better driver these trucks are way closer than that. But if you put 35s on both the raptor r beats the trx. I'm a ford guy and I dont think either is way better over all. They're both really nice trucks

Trx looks better and more aggressive. I’m more favoured to the trx. I’m shocked that the raptor has a 5.2L displacement vs the trx with the 6.2L displacement and only makes 2 more horsepower. I’m betting the cord gets a bit better mileage?
My opinion hasn't changed since the TRX first came out. The TRX is like an axe and the Raptor is a scalpel. You just have to decide which tool you need.
Love the comparison. IMO I prefer the Raptor R, styling, updated, full digital cluster, tactile buttons for heated seats, etc.
Love to see a head to head comparison of Raptor R to the regular Raptor. I’m considering one or the other and am leaning towards regular Raptor as I think it will be more than good enough for my purposes.

Livernois has a tune for your V6 raptor that would fix the shift points in the Transmission.
My F-150 was waaay quicker and catches second gear after my Levernois tune!
After watching the video my vote is for the RapR. The TRX is an awesome truck. It looks GREAT with a GREAT engine but OMG, 500-pound difference is huge. TRX front end is too heavy for landing jumps. The RapR IMO is better built and can still thrash through trails and keep going. That's what it's meant for.
Should have swapped drivers, just to see if it was within the driver.
But would buy the Raptor R over the TRX any day of the week, that truck is just sick!!!! On and off road!!

I watched both videos and I believe they are both really fast trucks. TRX is heavier.The Raptor R tires look narrower possibly more flex.You can't go wrong with either.I believe finally an equal match.Do you think Chevy/Gmc will try to bring another Syclone to existance?Wouldn't that be awesome?
Does the Raptor R have the cabin noise eliminating speaker on it like my 2019 has? I turned mine off using Forscan, since I did have the ford performance exhaust put on and I wanted to HEAR the truck.
