      I am seeing more wolf tracks these days than when I was younger. I even saw a wolf close up when deer hunting this year and another at distance when moose hunting. It is quite unusual to actually cross paths with them. They are usually around, but shy of humans.

    After your close encounter with a tree, I could think of a few more things to carry with you, always. An emergency survival blanket, an emergency transponder (see Currently Rockhounding's video on what he carries in his first aid pack), and a gun (coyotes, wolves). I so enjoy your videos and have learned a great deal. Thank you so much for sharing!

    I'm a thinkin' the spot by the trail where there's no snow, is where a female squatch waited all night for her big hunk of a man (you) and fell asleep, thinking she had missed you when she awoke and went home disappointed, to make a new plan. Be expecting her. : ) Be Careful and maybe leave her a crystal to appease her. Love your channel.

    Well truthfully I don't get to go anywhere, I am a hound without any rock to hunt.
    Daisy was going back for that wolf I think, not only did she have fun wandering around she also had fun standing guard over you, I'm sure you noticed.
    Shame it gets so cold and icy, it looks wonderful and is a gift from nature but sometimes it's better on a Christmas card.
    Did those appetite fall from the roof of the cavern?
    Some nice little pieces with good colour.
    The piece you chiselled out was a nice cluster, was that also appetite of a different colour or was it originally appetite and cooked?
    Have a wonderful time while you are away, I will let myself in when I get there and keep the home warm for your return, lol.
    Good luck detecting, stay safe buddy.

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  5 років тому +1

      I don't know about the crystal on the cluster. It has the right shape for apatite but wrong colour. The other black crystals are anthabol and I am thinking maybe it once was an apatite and is now a pseudomorph. Perhaps, others smarter than me can advise?
      The other apatities were probably moved by whoever dug the hole. What I noticed when editing is there were some shapes of larger apatites in the mud that were obvious on the shovel but I missed them after then were dropped onto the snow.
      While I am away, Daisy will be at a camp for dogs. I am sure I will miss her and will want to hurry home.

      I knew it them pseudo were trouble, always changing their minds, are they all female? lol.
      I'm sure Daisy will be content in the hands of professionals, don't be overly quick to return, allow me to get out first. lol.

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  5 років тому

      If you were here, she would be happy to stay with you as long as you take her out daily for a walk in the woods. Sometime, you have to visit and collect some rocks. Only problem is - how will you get them all home?

    • @symonsheppard5519
      @symonsheppard5519 5 років тому +2

      meMiner
      I'm sure she would show me the daily route for walking and checking her territory, remarking when needed.
      I would love to go hounding with you, as for getting them home, I would have to be very selective, practical pieces only and definitely no specimens, return with nothing but rocks in my luggage and become a big bad wolf ( he got cut open and filled with rocks ).
      Nice thought though, thanks for that.

    Maybe a lone, male juvenile moose yarded there before he met up with his new buddies? He was so despondent about his mom (the old cow!), kicking him out at only two years old! No basement living with gaming buddies chugging caffeine drinks to stay awake for the whole marathon!

    Ahh lovely, a super road trip and I didn't even have to leave my arm chair (Not that I can too well presently!) To be in such convivial company, meMiner and Daisy the steadfast companion and champion Rock Hound, what could be better, eh? Enjoy your Christmas and safe travels - tragically we just lost our beloved Kelpie, she was only seven, so we hope in 2019 to find a new Kelpie pup as a friend for Harvey our Border Collie - you just can't be without their amazing love. May all your Adventures be rewarding & exciting, too... 🕸🕸😎⛏🐾🎥🐾🦌⛄

But, I miss the Northwoods, even the snow and the pretty icicles - keep warm and enjoy the blessings of a happy family Christmas 🕸🦌🐾❄😊

      People and their pets, eh? When I had to put down my black lab (Tess) of 16 years, the next day I had a takotsubo cardiomyopathy. It was the best thing to do, but felt so much like a break in the trust with my best buddy. 40% damage to the heart and I probably should not have survived. All better now, but it goes to show their emotional impact on our lives. My trip south will be to Aruba. I am really looking forward to it and still need to figure out what gear to take (without overloading).

      @SmallWonda 5 років тому

      @@meMiner Oh you poor soul - so we both had a Special Tess, (my husband had a black lab, Rosie) - but I can certainly appreciate that deep physical loss - it is devastating - and then the emptiness that follows... We're planning on finally getting back to England after being in Tasmania now for 11-years ( a bit further South than gorgeous Aruba - lucky man! I lived around the Great Lakes for sometime too, hence my love of The North) before any other disasters happen - the folks are getting on but sometimes it takes a horrible event to crystallize one's vision and galvanise goals. All the best to you, your wife & Daisy - safe & happy travels, G 🐾😊🥂 Glad you're fit & hearty nowadays...
