    You have such incredible presence of mind to see the grass outcropping and consider hunting for more possible crystals. You seem to have a natural instinct toward finding such precious elements.

      I am actually happy with points. The frogs were probably happy that their home was restored. The boys were OK with it because they wanted to chisel out some of the higher up crystals. I think they liked the frogs better than crystals anyway.

    I ran into the same sort of thing in Mt Shasta up on a creek and they were all over in an area and in the grasses ect I have to say I loved the crystals more just gently washing them.. The amber is Hematite and they loose luster when you try and get that out because it was in them as they were created Some good hot water and dish soap and they look best Its such a high like finding gold its amaizng to fish them all out I ended up with over 200

    • @meMiner

      meMiner I had tried just vinegar for an acid and found it fogged and dulled the crystals shine

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  6 років тому +1

      That can happen depending on the mineral. You may have been etching a crystal that was affected by the acid. Otherwise, what sometimes happens is the acid releases a stain into the fluid which coats your crystals. I have had that problem when the fluid goes yellow or orange.

      Riding crop indeed, how dare you young man.
      I will have you know I don't ride a horse nor do I have a riding crop,
      Army Officers don't always ride horses but they do sometimes carry a riding crop,
      For hygiene purposes I was circumcised many years ago which was fortunate for me,
      Because you have to be a complete prick to be an officer.
      As for me crossing the border, it would be the red carpet treatment all the way, with a government escorted limousine for me curtesy of the Canadian people.
      Let's face it, who in there right mind would voluntarily want to visit Canada for any length of time, cold, snow, ice, porcupines, beavers, bears, wolfs and the most dangerous of all, the mad men digging and rooting around in the dirt for rocks .

    Howdy There, You Miner. You made quick work of that crystal hunt and pick. Guess that was a natural crystal vein, eh? No I'm not from Canada, just had a best friend when I was a young gal who was from Quebec. You know how it goes. : ) Bet that mothersucker tool would be a worth more than it's weight in gold, in those Gold fields in Australia. Maybe someday we'll see you and Beau in a series of vids in the Land Down Under. Are you familiar with Liz Kreat's or Adventures with Wild Bill's YT channel? Ya ought to take a peek. Bill has many metal detecting, rock hounding, bottle digging and treasure finding at their huge rubbish dumps. (For the clear crystals and cleaning funky residue from bottles and bones, try soaking them for a bit, in denture cleaner)

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  5 років тому

      Australia is on my bucket list. I have been a fan of Liz for a very long time and more recently Bill. You are correct, the quartz in this location is a natural vein that runs 0.5 km, right beside a major highway. It first got exposed when they blasted for the road.

      I don't think this spot is a pegmatite. To me a classic pegmatite also as calcite and fleldspar, along with the quartz and mica.

      I had two boys join me who lived up the road and also liked to harvest crystals. They tried to be quiet when the camera was on, but got really excited and couldn't help themselves from talking a little bit. It was really fun and funny.

      Edit; I cant realy stop looking for stones and minerals on the ground. Every Amethyst I have found, was on a dirt-gravelroad. I have now around 5-6 amethysts. One of them is blue-purple. I dont realy have a system for my collection.
      I live on a place there we have the most tighest place of minerals in the world. The place is called "Bergslagen".

      Probably a good idea. The compromise is you lose some feel. My hands are pretty tough.
