I found that same spot last year!!! That hump you mentioned ran the full width of the cavity (looked like someone used it as a bench). I was able to break out the big big chunk at the front and it now sits in front of my display cabinet!
Looks like you found one of my old holes. I was able to collect nicely formed scapolite up to 3 cm in diameter, back in the fall of 2016. I didn't see as much of it when I went in the fall of 2017, but I did have good luck finding sphene, along with a few green apatite crystals. As for the mud and clothes, it's a mess. I take my worst clothes and plan on throwing them away after digging at the local.
last time I was there it was a muddy mess! I crawled into a hole till only my feet were outside, found some nice stuff but I was soooooo muddy my wife made me throw out all my clothes!
There is something special about that mud. I have also thrown away jeans after being there. They would not even hose off. Probably should try a power washer. For sure, my wife would not let them into her washing machine.
The hole you finally were digging in was the same hole I was working on back in 2017. I expect that along the same elevation going eastward there might be more pockets, but I didn't bring a rod to do such exploration. Anyway, if you want to see what I got out the hole just type my name into youtube and it will bring up some videos I took while digging at the place.
I think the ones you are seeing are almost black, but the sun on the snow is playing tricks with the camera a little bit. The larger black crystals is an amphibole called hornblende. The smaller masses at this site are typically fluororichterite.
They are sold in the dollar store, so not expensive. They don't do much good if the rocks are covered in wet clay...they just moves the dirt around. Still a worthwhile addition to the kit.
Way to cold for this old wimp , I’m a fair weather guy , this looks like a great crystal hunting area .My residents is in the Cache Creek area, still learning the mountains around here, not much luck finding crystals, still looking.
There should be some good collecting near you. The closest I have looked for rocks is Kamloops which is known for nice agate. I have been thru Cache Creek a couple dozen times, but always on my way to a distant destination.
Notice that I was not in a baseball cap? It was a bit chilly. LOL Hey, a fox got one of my roosters. I am down to one and he is trying his best to make it still sound like two in my backyard.
Sure is fun looking down into those holes! Thanks for the adventure!
Nice video with good material. Thank you.
Thank you very much for the hard work you put in.
It was fun to get out. Thanks for the kind words.
Told you I had cleared that pocket out.
Thanks for showing more of Daisy bear.
Stay warm my friend.
It was a cold day, but bearable when out of the wind. I consider myself to be very lucky that the truck is still not stuck up that trail.
i know I'm kind of off topic but do anyone know of a good place to stream new series online?
@Asa Ryland Lately I have been using Flixzone. Just google for it =)

Nice. So there was good stuff there. I was just too late. Good for you.

There is something about the mud there. It is black and will not wash off without soap.

Slim pickings, I'll stay in my cabin with the fever till spring arrives. LOL.

All the blues a purple what is that? Besides the green apatite?

Be careful with those ice rocks. They have a tendency of disappearing before you make it home.
LOL
I like your brush idea! Its not feasible to carry around water to rinse them all the time.

tess99991 Ah the Dollarstore, the best place for a rockhound on a budget.
Followed closely by Princess Auto in Canada and Harbor Depot in the US. LOL

I bet the hill is pretty quiet that time of year!
That day was busy. I think it is empty now that there is a foot of snow.
