What I love about these videos is you aren't trying to tell everyone they have to be exactly like you to be minimalist. Stating that basics just have to be something that you will wear and you will repeat is freaking great advice.
Love your “girl next door” vibe here. I’ve realized you seem so much happier and freer! It’s really cool. Wishing you all the happiness, success and peace in your life. Thanks for blessing us with your high quality content girl. Salut!✌🏾
Ah, thank you so much for talking about the next steps of minimalism! I've been wondering about how to tackle this and finally started to add new pieces to my wardrobe last Saturday. The things that worked for me were: 1. To shop at second hand clothing store(s) to reduce my negative environmental impact and save money. 2. Try on every piece i'm interested in in the changing room and style it in different ways to see if it's really a good fit. (This allowed me to really be critical of what looked good on me and put back the clothing that just didn't suit me, but would probably be gorgeous on someone else.) 3. Dedicate a couple hours for this process and set a budget. (I had $140 I was willing to spend, but I only spent $99.44 in total.) 4. Bringing my own reusable bag to carry the clothes home with me. (Gave me an extra in store point to boot that I could use towards my next purchase when I need to replace something.)
Now that you moved to a place that has seasons (guessing by the jumpers on your clothing rack) would you consider doing a video on creating/maintaining a „minimal but weather appropriate wardrobe“? Since I am facing this problem, I am sure many others do, too. And I would love to hear your take on it! 🖤
Now that is a website I would actually use, how handy is that! Super helpful tips as well. I have this bad habit of shopping for my "fantasy self" and buying things that I don't end up wearing. I really have to embrace the basic styles that I know I'll wear over and over again because they're comfortable and make me feel good. This was a nice little reminder, thanks Rachel!
Your videos about minimalism are soooo helpful! I'd love if you did more about capsule wardrobes and how you manipulate your basics to work for each season!
Today is June 15, 2020 an being totally safer-at-home the days merge and it is hard to KEEP TRACK OF TIME. Therefore!!!!! I am doing another 60 day challenge (did one a year ago with YOU). This is day 39 and I"m still tackling the MAKE MORE SPACE for one room in our apartment. It is starting to look SO SPACIOUS! ALL of your videos KEEP ME ON TRACK for a more easy, comfortable, satisfying lifestyle. THANKS RACHEL. be well be safe.
I really love these ideas!! I get a lot of comments from people saying I need to wear more colours, or “stop wearing the same thing every day”. (I only wear black, white, & grey + one red flannel) But I really love my minimalist wardrobe! These are some amazing tips that I will be using very soon, as I only have 1 pair of pants at the moment! 😂 thank you!!
YES especially to that sponsor! I've been wanting an app like that for agesssss. Also, love this video - the added bits of humor in paired with good general tips on how to do the best version of minimalism for you. So good.
this is my 25th day with you and GLAD TO BE HERE! I see in the notification a VLOG and I do not know what a VLOG is so this will be fun to find out! Been practicing ONE THING at a time that you suggest and all is going very very well. THANKS!
I’m so happy for these series! There are always new people who want to become more minimal and this would really affect our lives. I’m one of those people and my wardrobe is not that minimal because I had no idea about what type of pieces I need and how to shop. This video really helped me and I’m so excited for tomorrow so I can start my minimal wardrobe :) xx
I found you through your minimalism series. You did inspire me greatly on exercise and healthy lifestyle, but your minimalism series is still such a bomb. It's beautifully shot and not only highly informative, but also personal and relatable. You're such a wonderful UA-camr and I'm so glad I found you and be part of your journey. I especially like your suggestion to choose things that are more environmental friendly and also sustainable and fair. It's a good reminder that we can do good, no matter how small. I'm still working out how to live a life with less waste and environmental footprint, but the journey is quite a zigzag. Bravo for this video, Rachel! And special shout out to Shoptagr for sponsoring this video. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
yes baby!!! i just dropped 2 sizes and im needing new things!!! i dont want to purchase just anything! trying to get my capsule wardrobe together! thank u my fav
ok but that skirt is like OMG. love love it. and i love how you can wear it with a tee shirt and tennis shoes. im getting more into incorporating active wear in my wardrobe. i find the more i am comfy and can be flexible i become more active. ill run around and do more active things when im dressing accordingly. so finding pretty things to dress up my active wear is awesome. like this skirt
I really enjoy how, as a guy, I can still get some incredibly useful tips for style. I love the idea of a basic wardrobe, and I thought this was a great example!
I recently bought new clothes as I got bored of my quite minimal wardrobe. but I could declutter most of them .. too many impulse buys and I have very high standards for clothing.. like I won't wear hoodies without pockets^^ not practical for me. i like fashion but I need to be really aware of buying only stuff I love. delaying the purchase is great. I now started to do it offline too. Thanks :) I really like your minimalism video style and also your clothes style. love black haha
The section of Less really helped me with this! I made a collage of styles I like, then all the next steps and it has made shopping MUCH easier. Love it, thank you 😊
Pleaseeee do a video on your favorite designers, items, and ethical places to shop and why. I know it's somewhat contradictory, but I think it'd be so helpful!
Yayyyyy!!! More fashion videos from Rachel!! I absolutely loved your initial series from a couple years ago (and actually sometimes go back to it when I need inspiration with my style while staying minimal in quantity). Since so much has changed since then, could I request an updated wardrobe tour? Like, every piece. I don't know about your other viewers, but I love longer videos and I'd love to see how your style has evolved into your current items. Amazing video
I have gone thrift shopping a few times recently and I need to declutter again! I have a bit of trouble with my wardrobe because I have to dress a certain way for work and I do keep things of my personal style but I don't do much other than work. I am hoping to change jobs soon and all the tops I wear for work can fit into my personal style but I also have a lot of crop tops and skirts and leggings I can't wear to work. I work in a starbucks so its Jean's and plain shirts. I really like your style. Mine is kind of similar. Mostly Black grey and white, a lot of solid colors but I do also have a couple prints and patterns. I have a skirt that zips up the front like yours but its is black and white vertical stripes. Like I said I dont do much but I have managed to wear it like once a month since I got it so given the opportunity I would wear it more. Literally gonna hop off and go declutter my wardrobe once I hit send.
Great video Rachel! I like that advice not to dress for your fantasy self. Very true! I used to do that and got so many items that I was not wearing. That bra made from tencel and the 99% company seems legit too! Thank you for the recommendations! Keep up the good work xoxo
Some of my clothing is 10, 15 or even 20 years old. I am 41 and still have the same size. I always buy sort of timeless and good quality clothing and shoes (not always expensive). I look for 100% cotton, leather, linnen and denim. New materials i look for are for example Lyocell (Tencill). Take good care of your belongings and they will last a long time.
Loved this. I was wondering Rach if you would be interested in the idea of making a video based on your shopping favourites that you know to be ethical and high quality etc I just discovered 90 percent thanks to you!
I love it. I’m going to get rid of the crappy T-shirt’s now. Wear just better quality from now on. PS where can I find a big wooden rack like yours? Kmarts are too small Eg 80cm wide
It’s funny because I only like to wear Racerback tops but I CANT for the life of me find any quality clothing in my country that offers that. I used to buy from Mango (which is pretty good quality and a price I can afford) which usually lasts a while before it goes a bit see-through or ends up with a hole or two (unlike other brands that doesn’t last that long) but it seems they’ve discontinued this style. 😑
I’m a minimalist and a fashion lover it really gets twisted sometimes I own a lot of clothes but I do use them 🤦🏻♀️ even my own mind is confused in this situation
If I'd have done this for my whole life, I'd be pretty rich at this point. Unfortunatly is something I'm doing only since three years. But better at some point, than never 😉
Ci Nguyen how about selling those items that you feel carry worth and don't want to part with because of your investmenet? That way you can spend that extra cash to create your capsule wardrobe 🙃
I couldnt shop at ninety percent! Lol 420 us dollara for a sweater? I get that it goes to donation, I rather just give the money that sweater isnt a plus for me.
What I love about these videos is you aren't trying to tell everyone they have to be exactly like you to be minimalist. Stating that basics just have to be something that you will wear and you will repeat is freaking great advice.
Can you do an updated minimalist wardrobe video?

I’m a minimalist and a fashion lover
it really gets twisted sometimes
I own a lot of clothes but I do use them
🤦🏻♀️
even my own mind is confused in this situation
If I'd have done this for my whole life, I'd be pretty rich at this point. Unfortunatly is something I'm doing only since three years. But better at some point, than never 😉
I want to minimise but so many of my clothes were so expensive so letting go is admitting I wasted a whole tonne of cash. Lol
Ci Nguyen how about selling those items that you feel carry worth and don't want to part with because of your investmenet? That way you can spend that extra cash to create your capsule wardrobe 🙃
More vlog
I'm not even a minimalist lol
I've seen so many you tubers talk about shop tager and I love the concept but the reviews are really bad. Has anyone tried it and liked it?
TheNicoliyah I found it didn’t actually notify me when things went on sale 🙄
@@emmcguire94 oh no! Thanks for the feedback😎
I couldnt shop at ninety percent! Lol 420 us dollara for a sweater? I get that it goes to donation, I rather just give the money that sweater isnt a plus for me.
