- Hello everyone!
In this video we are installing a set of West Kentucky Surplus fiberglass X-doors along with a Black Dog Customs four man fiberglass hard top kit. For being aftermarket and made by two separate companies, all of these new pieces fit together very well. This video is just the basic install process and a test fit of all the parts. We will then go back and remove all the pieces for painting before the final fit up.

glad to see you uploading again buddy! unfortunately all my experience with blackdog has been horrible. their fitment was bad, contact with mike was difficult, and the overall quality of the kit was sub-par. 3 years after installing their slantback roof kit, the fiberglass roof has a visible sag. their windshield edges have such huge holes in them that i had to weld up parts of it just to close the holes, their roof attachment points that go onto the windshield frame are horrible.
I thought I was the only one that did not have a great experience. Got a bunch of stuff from them as well, one of the $1000 parts arrived broke. They took it back but after getting it they then wanted to charge me 25% return fee for something that did not work. Reply nice guy but tuff to work with when things have problems.
Sorry to hear that, I fortunately had a good experience with the top kit. It did take more fitting and cutting compared to an OEM top, but overall it wasn’t too bad for me. I definitely had to call black dog a few times during the installation process to help me figure some things out as there wasn’t any instructions. I’m definitely going to make an in depth instructional video for the install to help others with the install. Fit and finish came out nice in the end, but I would’ve liked it a little more if it was made from metal like the original Humvee tops.
Dakota, I would trust purchasing one of these from you. Do you have any for sale? I would be very interested!
do you have any videos about a stiff pedal? i have a new to me m1097a2. drove great and then drove it home. about 1/2 way the pedal was rock solid. i push it down like 10% and it would lock the breaks up. when i got home to park it i could not pull the parking break up without feeling like i was going to break it. do you have any experience with this or any videos? any help is welcome.
I don’t have any videos on that at the moment. I would check the fluid to see its condition, maybe there is some contamination. Also to loosen up the parking brake, you can twist the top of the parking brake lever counter clockwise when the lever is down and then adjust accordingly.
@DakotaWoodHD I will be doing that. The strange part is both the breaks and the e break felt great when I test drove it. Hopefully, it is just a blockage in the master cylinder.
what would you use to repair holes in the aluminum?
I measured the diameter of each hole and found either button head bolts or plastic plugs to tightly fit the holes.
