    On the bright side, it is an upgrade from an original Willy's Jeep, circa WWII. If you've ever experienced that kind of power, your Humvee will probably feel like a rocket. I know because I got to drive both in Panama. Taking a 4 cylinder Willys over the Bridge of the Americas was. . .quite an experience.

    I'm disabled on a low fixed income. I can only dream of having one, let alone one that works great. I am a mountain man from Oregon originally, so your off road adventures are what I dream about. Now I'm a North Carolina man, that dreams of that freedom you get from going into the mountains in an off road 4x4.
    God bless, and I pray you enjoy my dreams in your awesome hummer. Please make it fun. Don't waste the off-road adventure by not enjoying it. Be excited and explore when you can. Being in the mountains it a true joy, even if you are not in a 4x4. Having a hummer must be the most amazing thing to drive, while in the mountains.
    Rock on! 😁👍

    For the noise, I have a massive old fire truck that I use as a race support truck/mobile home. It's airplane loud inside. My solution is therefore, an airplane headset and intercom. You can plug your phone into it for music, you can have a conversation with the person next to you, it's great. So great, I'm putting them on most of my other vehicles, soundproofed or otherwise.

    Love your reason at the end why you would still buy another one. Why else would you buy one of these if you didn't plan extensive offroading. Ending clips were cool. I never got a chance to drive one in the service, just the M151 which was a blast off road but had all the drawbacks you listed except for the noise. It wasn't quiet but I doubt it was Humvee loud.

      Thanks bro! The no AC is something big I missed all though it can be added of course. The heater works a good bit better once you seal everything off but it is a little weak on the highway when it's very cold out. I still need the bed divider and door corner seals so we will see if that helps. Probably will do a quick vid on those. Thanks for the support and glad you enjoyed!!

    • @Kevin24Seven
      @Kevin24Seven  3 роки тому

      @@phycoticwarflake8996 Amazing, probably the best vehicle you can get for that type of wheeling. They don't have much flex and will pivot a lot on 3 wheels (which is fun btw) but the wide stance keeps them from tipping. Since there are no solid axles the ground clearance is unmatched by any other civilian vehicle and with the vast majority of the weight being down low they have an almost supernatural ability to climb up steep inclines. The only weak point is the width, tight trails with lots of trees can be difficult to fit through, especially side by side trails.

      @@phycoticwarflake8996 Hey man, good on you for following through with your dreams/goals so early in life. Like any early 2000s vehicle they can have problems. Mine has been relatively problem free (knock on wood) but there are a lot of moving parts in that drivetrain and a lot of seals. For the most part everything is relatively simple to work on. Very few electronics to worry about. The only way you can learn is by doing and youtube is your friend. Expect to spend at least $12,000 on the auction from Gov Planet and much more if you are buying one off the consumer market. You should watch my vids on buying and street legaling if you are interested.

Call your local chevy dealer and they'll get you scheduled to come in and rid yourself of that plague. -We found that if suspected terrorists made it to highway one in Iraq they'd usually get away. 3. regarding the noise, what noise? After a couple of years you'll quit hearing it. 4. Why would you want to drive one across country? Merica' big place. 5. Why would you want to talk to the person next to you? The love/hate camps apply to all ex military vehicles. I have a Land Rover 101 forward control V8 and I get the same reactions. My vehicle is slow, noisy, thirsty, uncomfortable, not all that reliable, steering is very hard, spare parts are expensive and rare, and as a rag top it has no security. But I love it and that’s all that counts.

    • @stephenlott6968
      @stephenlott6968 3 роки тому

      @@Kevin24Seven with the 6 speed the MPG's shouldn't be too bad. I've seen AWD Denali's with that combo getting like 20mpg with normal driving. So 12-15mpg in the m998 should be doable. Plus then you can use regular 87 octane, so the savings are greater. In Florida diesel costs about 35% more than regular, so with the lower cost per gallon it would be equivalent to 16.2 - 20.25mpg with a diesel. Assuming my estimate is correct and your gas to diesel price difference is the same where you're at.

    • @Kevin24Seven
      @Kevin24Seven  3 роки тому +2

      @@stephenlott6968 good point but keep in mind that engine is gonna be fighting horrible aerodynamics, full time all wheel drive, 37 inch tires that are quite heavy, portal axles, and a vehicle that weighs around 6500lbs haha. Probably won't be worse gas mileage than the ole 6.2/6.5 that comes in them though and you are definitely right gas is usually cheaper than diesel. @@angelrodriguez5985 I couldn't even say, just wanting a hmmwv is a mechanical headache believe me. I work on them and my gabadagooul, it's a headache. GM sure ran with their money I'll tell ya. Not the worst on the market believe me, but makes you wonder why all these retired military mechanics aren't working with them alot. But if you want to test you're skills and patients as a mechanic it's a challenge.

      @@angelrodriguez5985 However if you found a diamond of a mechanic that would work on it, and only want to drive go for it. I'm just venting from work.

    You think a 350 engine will fit in it

      It will and its a horrible idea. The civilian H1 had the 350 vortec as an option and that thing got like 8MPG and was screaming doing highway speeds. Diesel is really the only way to go on these.

    DEAR GOD ALMIGHTY you just listed to two WORST HMMWV/H1 suppliers in the market. MME sells chinese knock off parts. Predator is a ripoff artist that slaps their sticker on off-the-shelf parts and charges 400% more for it. Plus their duramax conversions blow.
    Hummerpartsguy, adventureacessories, rubberduck4x4, modmafia, macmotors, kascar... any of those shops are LIGHT YEARS better than MME and fucking Predator.
