I have used your tutorials for creating new projects in my crocheting, and you are excellent in teaching how to do the projects and why's and how's during a project.
I’ve made several of these and they’re all great! My only modification is that I do a row of sc’s before starting the 3DC clusters. It makes the neckline more stable.
Leah Hiett I went back after I finish the poncho and added in three rows the single crochet at the neck and then I added a roll of single crochet at the bottom and then did a shell stitch to finish it off
Really love your videos and shawl patterns and tips Mr. Spider Fiber.😊💖👍...It's just like visiting with a close friend not too hurried or rushed !!!! Keep up the good work and wonderful videos .It was nice to see you in person too..
I know this is 5 years old but as a fairly new crocheter, i dont have a lot of confidence in myself. This was SO easy for me to understand! Thank you so much!
Dear Fiber Spider, your tutorials are so clear and easy to follow. Way to go! I'm going to be making this poncho and a crocheted tie very soon. Love you!
I enjoy watching your crocheting and knitting videos, because you do enough repetitions to let the pattern sink in. Have you ever started your crochet project doing a foundation chain instead of chaining and working into each chain. You could do a sc foundation chain which would give a nice sturdy edge. Starting with a foundation chain gives a more elastic type edge making it easier to go over your head.
Thank you for your beautiful granny shawl pattern. I never made one cause for one, I'm a beginner & shawls intimate me but your tutorial is so calm and simple . So I'm going to be making it. Thank you 💙
Great video, I have made several of these ponchos with your instructions. Newborn, child, adult. I come back to preview it because your voice relaxes me. I wrote down your instructions, however I enjoy your smooth voice in my ear bug. Thank you Spider, you are a very good instructor. I appreciate you getting right into the project, no going on and on about the yarn, the graphics The this , The that. It's like crocheting with a friend, just chit chatting and getting it done. I Love Your sense of humor. Keep giving us your great talent via UA-cam. Happy Holidays from San Diego, California.
Did something a bit differently to have a finished, s-t-r-e-t-c-h-y neckline, I did NOT begin the pattern from the original chain. By making one foundation row from the chain, this is accomplished. I did a HDC (half-double crochet) in the TOP loop only, then used your pattern. Try this the next time, Spider, you'll like it !!!
That was wonderfully simple and clear to follow. I was after some details for some little summer ponchos for my friends children and this really fitted the bill. Although I might just need to buy a Caron Cake for a poncho for me.
Mr. Man! I Know you Never respond to these, BUT you need to know I have made at least 25 of these based on your excellent instructions! My husband and I are 2 of your biggest fans! If ever you are down, just know there is a couple in Ventura, CA who think you are marvelous!
I am a tight crocheter and the yarn I used is a #4, but light like caron simply soft. With a 6mm hook I did 92 chains and that worked out great. With 60 I couldn't get it over my head.
Can you apply variations in granny square patterns here? When I make Granny Squares I chain 1 on the corners and chain 0 in between clusters. Would that same approach work or, would that not be enough. I find that the 1/0 vs 2/1 makes the spaces tighter and thus much warmer in practical use. It's a wonderful piece and I think I might make it.. Between Winter and Covid, I need something to keep my hands busy this season.
Can this be turned into the modern granny poncho? A lot of those who want a poncho made prefer a more solid fabric according to the requests. I very much appreciate your tutorials because crochet is keeping me sane as I have been in lockdown over a year. Greetings from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia! Please keep doing tutorials when you can. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your wonderful videos! I would love to make a couple of these ponchos for my granddaughters....one is 10 and the other 5. Could you please give me an idea of how many to chain for those sizes??? Does the chain have to be in any multiples??? Many thanks for any help. It would be greatly appreciated!
The starting chain length just needs to be long enough to fit over the head comfortably and be divisible by 4 I think. You see, you need to do the initial clusters every other chain at the beginning, and those clusters need to be divisible by 2. I hope that makes sense 😊
I wanted so bad to make this poncho and had the stuff ready, but l broke a nail yesterday and unfortunately it spilt right down the middle and with a waterproof bandaid the hook slips on the yarn wont stay tensioned so have to wait till my nail grows back...bummer....just found you and think you are reallygreat...
I think I’ve made about a dozen of these from your pattern! You’re the best! Question: Does this pattern work if you use Lion Brand Homespun Yarn? Thank You ❤️
Thank you for doing a Poncho and modeling it because I needed to see what it looks like on a guy everyone the been showing there Poncho is always a female... I'm making the Poncho for an 14y boy for Christmas...
Hi Fiber spider, you make crochet so easy. Respect from India. I liked your versatile vest and poncho. Do you do any other kind of stitch other than granny stitch. Please make a video on that too.
Fiber Spider (I wish I knew your name!) I have a question...you said make clusters in even numbers, or, divisible by 2. Well how many of the initial chain stitches does that mean? If I want to make one half the size, could I chain 30? If I wanted to make an extra large one do I make enough chains to be divisible by 4? Cluster and chain stitch. I’m so confused. But I’d like to make one for my five year old niece. Thank you!!!
Simple math tells me that if you're leaving 1 stitch in between the clusters/shells, then you have to have 3 stitches on the corner, not 2. You'll have 2 stitches for a corner when you leave no stitch in between the clusters/shells. Otherwise, your distance between the clusters/shells on the rows and on the corners will differ - which is what you have right now, as evident from the photos.
I love your tut but i don,t like that the sides where the arms are, are so short, the front and back are ok. When i also do those groups of stitches who are on the front and back side on the left and right side the poncho becomes very wide. How to do this?
I really like your tutorials on your ponchos and patterns but I the only concern I have is when you keep going off camera but otherwise your video is great
You are such a great teacher. I love the way you explain everything. You are clear and concise. 🧶🧶😃😃

I found a foundation row helpful as well. I did a row of double half crochet for mine

I know this is 5 years old but as a fairly new crocheter, i dont have a lot of confidence in myself. This was SO easy for me to understand! Thank you so much!

Love your Caron Cakes poncho!
You ever try to do this with a single crochet all around the chain to make it much neater then the granny stitch.
Thank-you so much for sharing, love your tutorials :)
Awesome pattern. Thank you for this tutorial
You could turn your work each row to avoid the slip stitch colour showing through... great for monochrome though!
Very easy to follow , my poncho looks great xx
I just love your channel!!!

Thank you for doing a Poncho and modeling it because I needed to see what it looks like on a guy everyone the been showing there Poncho is always a female... I'm making the Poncho for an 14y boy for Christmas...
I'm almost done, loved the pattern but I'm not sure how to make/finish my last round, around the double clusters. Advice??

Hi Fiber spider, you make crochet so easy. Respect from India. I liked your versatile vest and poncho. Do you do any other kind of stitch other than granny stitch. Please make a video on that too.
Ok I'm good I figure it out. Will upload as soon as I put on the fringes.🤗
💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
hello Fiber Spider ready to start this project with you.
Can you tell me why some people turn their poncho at the end of each row? What does that fix?
Fiber Spider (I wish I knew your name!) I have a question...you said make clusters in even numbers, or, divisible by 2. Well how many of the initial chain stitches does that mean? If I want to make one half the size, could I chain 30? If I wanted to make an extra large one do I make enough chains to be divisible by 4? Cluster and chain stitch. I’m so confused. But I’d like to make one for my five year old niece. Thank you!!!
If you turn Pancho, will it be vertical and Trinity again and it’ll be horizontal and try it again and it’ll be like a v shape???????😮
Lol that the first thing I crochet in my life over fourty years ago
I love your tut but i don,t like that the sides where the arms are, are so short, the front and back are ok.
When i also do those groups of stitches who are on the front and back side on the left and right side the poncho becomes very wide. How to do this?
I'm still fairly new to crocheting, how do i change skeins without having a dangling thread?
Is the 60 chain enough for a large adult head?
What size is this poncho for nd how many skeins or yards of yarn do I need? Thank you
I made this and used your Sawtooth edging for it
Hello, wondering if in the rounds look a little ruffled in the beginning?
Sweety can you make a similar tutorial but adding sleeves to the poncho. I do not know how to send you a picture
Stupendo👍🏻❤️
Fiber Spider is there a written pattern?
I really like your tutorials on your ponchos and patterns but I the only concern I have is when you keep going off camera but otherwise your video is great
By chance do you have a tutorial for crocheting a hood for this poncho pattern
