    I have just finished making this poncho! It's my first piece of clothing that I have crocheted and I am ridiculously proud of myself 😂 I did a scalloped edging on mine as I fear I would keep getting the tassels caught on things as I am quite clumsy 😂 I have tagged you in a pic on Instagram of my finished poncho. I hope you like it and thank you for such a fun and easy to follow tutorial 😊

    To make tassels easier, I wrap them around a book and then cut one side, or both depending on the length I need

    I have a massive head with 90 stitches with 30 clusters. Which is 28 clusters and 2 INCrease clusters. 28 divided by 2 is 14. So im going to try 7-INC-14-INC-7. The first and last number needs to add up to the number in the middle (So it is positioned evenly).
    Actually need
    7-13-8
    12:53
    15:10

    I've made this poncho as a gift for my metamour and it's absolutely PERFECT!!!! This video was SO clear, amazing! I just have one question! The tips/corners in the front and back are hanging VERY low. If I were to want that to be a little less for a next time, what's the best way to go about that? Ch2 in the corners instead of 3? Something else? Aside from that I'm obsessed with this 😍

    Figuring out cluster:
    [Total stitch count] :3 - 2 :2 = [how many cluster you'll have between the corners]
    Ex. 60: 3 -2 :2 = 9
    -> if number differs, youst de- or increase, so that you'll have the same amount of cluster on each side

    How do I know where to put the corners if I did a chain 72 instead of 60?

    • @eliza_tu
      @eliza_tu 8 місяців тому +5

      I'm sure there's a way to better articulate it, but do a full row of 3dc clusters and count how many fit in your row. For me, it was 30. Minus 2 for the corners = I would need 28 normal 3dc clusters. Frog the test row and follow the instructions to form the first corner after 5 clusters. Then I divided 28 by 2 (= 14), so I did 14 clusters after the first corner, then formed the second corner and completed the round like normal. However many clusters you have left in that row will add up with the 5 clusters you did before the first corner to give you the divided number (I had 9 more clusters left after the 2nd corner to complete the row. 9 + 5 beginning clusters = 14 between each corner = 28 clusters + 2 corners = 30 for the entire circle = correct!)
      If you do it right you should have the same amount of clusters between corners no matter how much you chained in the beginning.

    • @fleshdunce7951
      @fleshdunce7951 8 місяців тому +1

      I did 72 as well and I’ll tell you what I did in the easiest way I can lol sorry if it’s confusing. You’d have 24 normal clusters. So subtract 2 off of that (for your increases), and you’ll have 22 normal stitches, and 2 increases. Which adds up to 24. Your cluster count will be a palindrome: (6-INC-10-INC-6). You start off with 6 clusters, your next stitch (your 7th cluster) will be your increase, then do 10 normal clusters, then your next stitch (your 17th cluster) will be your last increase, followed by 6 clusters. I hope this helps !!

      @@charisseproffitt3653 Im in my early 40s but only learned to crochet in my early 20s then stopped till late 30s. I just decided I wanted that feeling again because I like my hands to be busy. (Right before I found out I was ADHD) Once I wanted to get back into it I had to learn from kid books n online stuff n there's several controversial crochet things so it took awhile to find what works for me. I'm by all means no professional n I did not know one person who did it growing up. You tube became my teacher besides taking notes at the library. But when I really needed to know something I researched it including terms. I wish I grew up learning from someone like you so you're lucky it's probably second hand to you (easy). I don't mean to be picky n correct people but I know if I'm wrong about something I like to be taught the right way that's why I think I try to help, you know?

    • @charisseproffitt3653
      @charisseproffitt3653 Місяць тому

      @@spoiledwitch82 I think the same way, like I'm teaching not being critical. My grandma taught me to crochet beginning at age 3. I would first wind a ball of yarn up from a skein. Back in those days we had a lot of knots in the yard so we always wound it into a ball first. Then I just chained continuously with my fingers, no hooks. Then I would take the chain out wind it back into a ball and start all over. I would follow my grandma around the house while she did her chores making really long chains. I think she did that to keep my little hands off of her knick knacks, which I was fascinated with, lol. I don't remember what I age started using hooks. My very first real project was a scarf. Then doll blankets and stuff like that. I made my first Afghan at age about 14. But she taught me how to read the patterns, and once I could do that I could make almost anything. I'm still learning new techniques and I love being challenged. I am 61 now, and I crochet almost every day. I usually have a few works in progress going at all times as I get bored with the repetitive stitches. I guess I'm a little ADHD, too. 😆

    • @charisseproffitt3653
      @charisseproffitt3653 Місяць тому +1

      @@spoiledwitch82 oh, my Grandma taught me how to knit, too, but it's not as much fun to me. Knit one pearl one is so boring. Crochet is much more a form of art. Once you learn a few stitches you can play around and make some very interesting things. I suggest you look up freeform crochet. There's a few artists in UA-cam that teach it. Anything goes and you can really express yourself with some beautiful pieces that are useful as well. Happy hooking, my friend.
