On camera and in person or the metal are totally different on looks. Most people that hate the looks haven't actually seen one in the metal. Huge difference. I actually love the new M2. Just my opinion.

G42 is like a regular BMW sedan modified and tweaked, M2 looks like a proper sports model akin to a super car. And it looks stunning with that unique front grill and the old school design.
Gold wheels with full M performance pack is the way to go

I prefer the M240
ordered my G87 in black aswell. its definitely better in person, just needs to be lowered. but for me the OG is still the better looking car overall, the comparison in this video just showed the diffence in flow and line design

I was going to upgrade from my M240 to the M2 and just couldn't get myself to do it. Maybe by the time Comp variation and AWD are out things will change, but my M240 G42 sans the rear might be the best looking BMW out there right now of this latest generation. Classic looks. Performance of new M2 is definitely there, but aesthetics are just not. Brilliant idea to go with Black and think a matte application could minimize the problem areas. Now if Subaru launched this M2 as the new Impreza I would consider that a positive for that brand, but not BMW. In the end, maybe it will grow on me like the M3 G80. Regardless of my opinion, love the content and product offerings AUTOID.

Parking them next to each other make the M2 look Even worse. The wide arch and carbon roof are the only good point on the M2 would like them on the G42
Bingo. At least the G42 has a homogenous rounded theme. The G87 is rounded and squared at the same time. Mixed up theme. These guys are praising the M2 rear bumper BUT it’s also black. Go get a white or powder blue one where the middle looks like it’s missing a piece.

The G42 they have is all kitted out, the G87 is bone stock but it still looks better than the G42 to me

G87 looks more M defining. Spend all that money and it needs to look different.
Mods will look more subtle on the black car.
Will you be making up some mesh type protection for cooling radiators. Very vulnerable area

Blacks deffo the best colour for these. Hides all the ugly bits and the bad design on em. Im sure you can make this look alot better with a shit load of bits and lowering it for sure. OG m2 owner here so im slightly bias to the old look but love the interior on these and its deffo a step up for performance.
The X5 called. It wants its ride height back. I can't believe they're selling M cars with SUV ride heights. It's like BMW has a deal with aftermarket companies and they're getting a percentage from lowering springs and spacer sales...

I've always liked the G87 but preferred the old M2. However, that has all changed over the last few months. Change can be tough to accept at times. Not only do I like the G87 but I now feel it makes the old M2 look dated. I wish the Autoid lads the best of luck with their new whip!

I’m glad everyone isn’t immediately loving it. This car has literally turned me bmw fanboy. It being unpopular, I didn’t have to fight much to get one ordered. Unlike the Nissan Z getting them to sell at msrp was like pulling teeth.

How are you getting 360 miles from the G42 ? I’m getting 230/250 on a full tank 😂
I get over 300 miles from a tank with regular driving way more if on the motorway using the eco settings
I'm sorry but for £65k it's not doing it. My LCI M2 in 2017 was £50k. Just feel the manufacturer's are taking the piss with these prices now!
Your m2 isn't a real M car and has less hp/torque then a g42 m240i which cost 51k with AWD.

G42 has already a better looking stock front and rear bumper vs the g87. By adding a front lip/ deffuser, it adds a more aggressive appearance specifically to the g42 since it has that rounded design with sharpened lines. They kept the classic bmw look but at the same time included modern touches to the body panels. When it comes to the g87 i think bmw failed it.
I love these videos, but it's kinda sad that it's all about the looks, and nothing about the engineering! These are sports cars, supposed to be driven!!!
Looks matter as well. We all know it will have great performance, but the looks have really been the sore point for the G87
