I would rather borrow £50,000 for 5 years at £1,000 a month and then own the car - admittedly second hand ! Option 2 most can afford a decent deposit so £10k deposit & borrow £40k = £839 month and you would own after 5 years - far better than £800 a month for 4 years (£38,400) and hand back. Great review as usual- fantastic looking car👍👍😁
Think of it this way as I did. It's £184:38 a week to borrow this car from BMW that is £26:34 a day every day for 5 years.
That, in my humble opinion, is nuts even for an M2.
My E46 M3 was sold in 2003 for £46k
£46k in 2003 is the equivalent of £81k today.
£81k sits somewhere between a current wel spec'd G87 and G8x without options.
Having owned the E46, an F83 and had a G87 for a weekend, it's epic. Totally practical, looks bonkers, goes like stink. It's a far more accomplished car than you think it will be.
So better part of 40k then decide if you want to give the car back .....no no no . Too much money , ppl are insane and like to waste money imo.

Some people have a lot of money Paul, and financing an M2 is no problem for them. Let them spend their money as they choose. 55K can buy you a very low mileage 24 reg anyway.
@neilmcguinness4422 I get that but my opinion is its madness , especially when you lose so much value right away. Each and to there own of course just my opinion.
You're gonna lose a ton on a new car either way.
If you finance it you could feasibly lose less than if you buy it outright and then sell it in 4 years.
For me though, it's better to buy one in a couple of years with low miles, full factory warranty and get a decent low interest loan with a chunk up front.
1 year old G87s right now are mid to high 50s
By next year you'll probably be able to get a nearly new barely used one for something starting with a 4. And then you could own it for a few years and not lose a great deal.
£800 a month is just too much.

2019 M2 comp was like £44k new this M2 is £70k?
Imagine paying £799 pm, for 4 years and then just handing it back and walking away 😮 pcp ain't for me. But each to their own.
I did PCP in 2018 on a M140i i only had 2.5k. by 2022 i now own it.

I would rather buy hybrid 3 series estate 2023 and get loan and pay it all off in few years. M cars are way too expensive where you spend fortune on petrol, tax and insurance.
Mine costs me £650 pm. I've always paid around £400pm in Co Car Tax, before getting this, so the way I'm looking at it is £400 I've never had in my payslip, plus £250 of my own money. Looking at it another way - a bloke I work with smokes 20 cigarettes a day. My estimate is that it costs him £500pm to keep up his habit. I know which I'd rather spend money on. The M2 is an immense car.

This BMW is about the best I have owned plenty of useable power
Manual gearbox it is great.
Push M2 button makes great sound. 20 around town if having fun 30 on the motorway. It is the new meeting the old

As someone who sells cars yourself, you know full well the monthly cost and the car can be had for a much lower cost.
Having had the G82 M4, and now getting the M2 after having one on loan for a week. I can honestly say the M2 is a more enjoyable and fun little car! Can not wait to get it

Best thing I found from a G80 vs my F87 m2 DCT comp was that the DCT is perfect for pushing it on track but jerky day to day and fast on road. The ZF is better for day to day fast road driving. But lacks a bit on track
I tried reaching out when I owned a G42 M240i to try and get you to do a driver of video and let you try out the latest gen M Lite but never got a reply 😢

Calvin your right about BMs you first see it either hate or love it but it does grow on you..the 2series i was not a fan but am now

I compromised and bought an m235i GC. 30 k for a 6 month old. 300bhp, 4 doors. Pretty comfy. Enough power for UK roads.
Owned an m4 com but too much power through 2 wheels. Lost stupid money in 9 months of ownership.
Seriously underrated car! Sold mine for a G26 M440i as needed more room.
@@Neil2022absolutely love it. Noticeably faster being the B58, but also remarkably better in fuel, and I’m no daisy driver. It’s a different level being a 4, but that’s nothing against the 2 either which is amply plush for the price point.
I do like it but i could swear it’s now bigger than an e46 M3 lol

No matter what way you cut it the M2 is a stunning drivers car. The M3 and M3 touring is just too much money and power for the road, BMW should just bite the bullet and make a M2 touring, I want to see that!
You still need to run it. Then the tax after the first year. Easily 1500 quid a month on what is basically as rental.
Howcome the front and rear have different tyre sizes?
BMW stagger most their set ups more grip for the rear wheels which the power comes through

England wouldn't have gotten them, but Sunak wants them.
Hopefully, it's not the GPS limiters but can also be buzzer or restricted throttle.
I’m sure tuners will be able to remap them out
that big screen is fucking awful, just gimme a set of dials, if i wanted a widescreen tv in my car i would put an engine behind my 60" samsung.........

The gearbox in these new M’s is what puts me off, the DCT is just a superior gearbox for sporty driving, take downshifting 2/3 gears for a corner, the ZF just feels dead 💀
If if your gonna splash that much dosh on a bemmer id buy Alpina. People will think your a bit more sophisticated and not a total knob.
rather buy a 19 plate mercedes gt 4 dr , twice the car and value for money

Just have the 1st M2 or M2 comp .You can get a nice 1 for 35k with low miles and save yourself 35k 👍
But then you gotta worry about warranties, and how hard it's been ragged, but you're right it's a way better financial solution, as long as it doesn't blow up :)

The G80 and the G82 has grown on me very well but the G87 hasn’t yet and I don’t know if it will! It’s been long enough and I still don’t like it! The F87 on the other hand is gorgeous.
If you subscribe to the belief the M2 is the modern day e46 m3, take an inflation calculator and work out what an e46 m3 would cost today.
And you get.....An M2.

I stupidly got a second hand x5 m50d 14k miles for £1300 a month for 4 years 😂😂 i dont have to give it back tho but the 240i was in the show room cheaper new than the x5 i got, if it wasnt for me having a bad back getting in and out. I love my x5 i dont love the £1300 a month 😂😂
When a new car has more than 90 miles on the clock it’s classed as second hand
So BMW aren’t selling any then - it’s just too boxy at the front for me- the new M3’s had the crap grille at the front which has grown on me but the new M2 just looks weird and odd albeit it looks so much better inside than the older M2!

I hate those screens with a passion. Almost impossible to fix & in 8 years or so will become yet another obsolete electronic item. Impossible to replace as it’s made specifically for the vehicle down to the dimensions & every critical part you need to make the car functional hinges on it working. Also it looks like an accountant designed it screams aftermarket down to the way it’s connected to the dashboard. There’s a functional reason why instrument clusters have been designed & integrated offering protection from sun & windscreen mirroring for the driver. I’d be interested to see if the lcd screen mirrors onto the windscreen at night time.
