Nice pick for the dim sum shop. As a Hong Konger, I can tell, lots of Vblogger chose eat dim sun at chain restaurant or famous one. But you guys picked a very local tea house. Definitely a good pick. and have some different experience compare with our vbloggers.
Luke and Sabrina is probably the most underrated Food UA-cam channel out there. They are just as good as Mark Wiens, The Food Ranger, and The Best Food Ever Review Show's channels!! They deserved 5M subs for real!!
I am so glad that Hong Kong still has the local/ traditional Dim Sum places. When I go to Hong Kong I always scout out for them. I first went to Hong Kong when it was British. From then to now, so much has changed. Dai Pai Dongs are what I also scout out for when me and my friends go to Hong Kong. I think all local places have the flavors that somehow get lost when new places open. Those flavors are not easy to duplicate.
I'm a Hong Konger and I couldn't go back to Hong Kong for almost 2 years due to the pandemic (I study abroad), so I miss the food so much!!! Thank you so much for your Hong Kong series, really made my day a lot better.
I was born and raised there , it seems you guys know Hong Kong much more than I do. You two are lovely and cute, keep it up and I expect more amazing episodes to come. Two thumbs up
Why am I watching this? A few years ago, I found out that I am a diabetic and since my health does not allow me to insanely feast anymore. But somehow, I am attracted to food channels like never before.
For your next visit to Hong Kong, suggest you to try another traditional dim sum restaurant named "Sun Hing Restaurant" 8 Smithfield Road ground floor, Markfield Building. Hong Kong Island. Another recommendation is Hoover cake shop/restaurant(136 Nga Tsin Wai Road, Kowloon City, Hong Kong.) Their egg tart is one of the best in town.
A satisfying breakfast dim sum like almost one dish feast that consists carbs and meats.A breathtaking views of HK skyline and street pavement throng with people. That noodle captures the deep essence of herbal broth and the egg tart that complements well with a cup of milk tea.A great HK trip of exploring, encountering and discovering!
Why? It is just yet ANOTHER UA-cam street market food eating show.... take some 20 somethings... give them a camera, selfie stick and overlay some dope beats in post pro.... Maybe throw in some catch phrase as well like... Oh WOW! or That is off the charts - in this case it is "Oh YUM" or "Oh NICE"... helpful item: if they can speak the local language because they are going to school there - BONUS TIME!
Thank for this video and being open-minded of other culture. That dim sum place is classic hole-in-the-wall. The old school atmosphere is in part what makes it great. I hope it stays in business for a long time but that might be too hopeful. These gems of a restaurant are once-in-a-lifetime restaurants. Once they are gone, they are gone. Nothing can replace it. Most of those restaurant owner's children will not take over those businesses, they will go look for tech jobs, etc. Thank for showing the world these gems of a restaurants.
It's hard to maintain places so traditional like this in Hong Kong due to the rising prices and pressure to modernize. Hopefully it can remain because the food, atmosphere and staff are great! :)
Dim sum will always be around as long as Chineses are still around. The HK dim sum is only one among the many different types of dim sum which can be found in China. Dim sum is similar to Hors d'oeuvre; small bits of delicious food
I am a sucker for a good roast duck or goose and the one you ate looked super delicious and so does the egg tarts. two more items added to my list! Loved all three Hong Kong episodes!
Hi Sabrina and Luke, great job for picking the Hong Kong local yummy foods. Your Hong Kong series are wonderful and now waiting to watch your Canadian Tour Series.
Old school dim sum... Very authentic reminds me being a little boy in Los Angeles with my mom and grandma. Very reasonable prices. Try Guangzhou has some good places for dim sum when I visited a decade ago.
@@LukeMartin oh brilliant I will read about it hopefully I will make a switch. Thanks for your respond and sharing awesome video about Hong Kong and have a lovely day.
One note about the plum sauce that is always served with roasted goose/duck. You had mentioned in the video that "I'd dip my next piece with the plum sauce but you really don't need it". The primary objective of the plum sauce is to help de-compose the goose fat in your digestive system. Adding flavor to the goose is secondary. I learned about this after eating roasted goose/duck after decades ... LOL. In summary, always dip the duck with the plum sauce! Your digestive system will thank you.
I never ever found 'Stir-fry Chowmein' last time i went in HK 2017, which used to be on street stalls until mid 90s. I'm going again next year, i have to taste that 90s stir fry chowmein. Plus, can you try the foods from New Territories, Yuen Long and around. Those places are so underated.
Kams Roast Goose in Wan Chai also a great place. A little bit pricer. Get there early because of long queues (probably not so bad right now though...) Yat Lok a favourite with us too.
Thank for your upload. Even I was from there, how can you guys to find all kinds of great food in HK? You had friends or some one who can help you out? How do you know where those great places? Plan to visit there, hopefully the pandemic will be under control some day. '
You can actually buy a roasted goose to bring w you in the airport. There’s a Yung Kee there. It will be packed specifically for air transport. Yung Kee’s considered to be one of the best in HK 😉 Try visiting Tai O if you have time. It’s an old, authentic fishing village. The vibe there is uniquely memorable 😉
Love Hong Kong!!! When I was at sea, we would be there once/year for 4 days, obviously I had to work as well but we did get some time off. In Tsim Sha T-shirt, near the police station/club,(most of the senior police officers were Brits), we found this smallish, 40 seat, and takeout, restaurant. All they served was mashed potatoes and beer. Beer of many varieties, San Miguel was most popular. But the mashed potatoes, real not instant, could be had with many, many side dishes, but the mash was the main course!! I think you had a choice of about 30 sides. Don’t know if the place is still there, last time I was there was ‘86. Seeing your bottle of San Mig reminded me. Thanks and thanks for all your great videos!! Thoroughly enjoy them. Rod
Thank you for sharing your local finds! Can't wait to go back Hong Kong for the food soon! Dim Sum my favourite! You should try the ma lai gou...wonder if that shop does it well :D
Hey Luke and Sam great videos of Hong Kong .When i lived in Markham Ont there was many Hong Kong style restaurants I used to love to eat the Congee with a small plate fried noodles in the morning . Have you guys ever eaten it there ? It is considered a breakfast food also.Looking forward to your Canadian Seafood Videos i am going to NFLD again this year in July ..Last year we went in June and it was cold.i I ate so much fish when i was there i grew fins :)
Actually should be China because that is where all Chinese food come from. Do a HK food trip. Go over to China and go to every province because each province is different.
Sabrina is so good with her camera showing very detailed of the food stuffing. I even saw a hair near the plate.lol Sabrina!!! I love cha sur bun and roast duck. Luke , are you using Drone shot on the buildings?
another well done video, you guys never fail, always interesting places and food, and always leave us wanting more, always a pleasure my friends, stay healthy 🤗👍👍👍
Great video! Nice jobs for music, shooting, & editing too! Watch out for the plum sauce from any place, some of them taste like dirt. I don’t eat any plum sauce because I’ve had many bad experiences but I hope one day one of the plum sauces will taste how it’s supposed to instead of dirt.

Luke Martin That goose looked phenomenal.
Its our favorite!😍
Luke Martin Does it taste similar to the Peking Duck?
not really actually its very unique
That roasted goose impacted a great sweet and salty bounce.

It takes us months to research for these videos and that place paid off! My new favourite dim sum in HK!
Oh my gosh. I can't express enough how much I love seeing Sabrina being a bigger part of the videos. I just adore you both.

that distinct flavor in the beef balls is from the fermented tangerine peel
