Never solder the ends of a cable if you are mounting it in a screw connector. The solder will slowly deform and eventually you will have a bad connection. Other from that great video!
so will the copper, though. If you solder it, you can't have individual strands breaking when you tighten.
What I always do is for extra security in those cases, I flip the copper over the rubber, screwing *on* the rubber, pushing the copper into the terminals, really tight. That way, the rubber provides relief for the cable. I do squish to make sure it goes through the rubber and pressess firmly onto the copper, or it'll get loose otherwise.
@@dimitar4y That is true, but it takes about 100 times longer than with solder. As long as the copper is not extremely corroded it will still have some springiness to it, which pushes back att the connectors. How ever, in the case of solder it flows slowly forever even though it is cold. Solder is for soldering connections, and bare copper or end crimps are for screw connectors.
@@GAIS414 What about the springiness of the screw/terminal though? What if you squeeze the screw hard enough to chew through the solder and bite onto the bare copper?
@@dimitar4y No matter how hard you tighten the screw there will still be some solder in between the wire strands. Soldering the wire into a lump will give you less contact surface with the terminal than you will have with bare wire. Also solder as a rule of thumb has about 5 times the resistance of copper. So in the end what happens? Due to higher resistance, less and less contact surface over time. The connection will start building up heat from low conductivity in the joint. Eventually it might heat up over the melting point of the solder and you will wish you had left the wires bare. I've learned this from past misstakes and words of advice from experienced electrical engineers. However you are welcome to try it out yourself as long as you do it far away from me. =) .This advice is mainly for high current applications, as in this case when mains voltage is connected to the terminals. If you choose to solder your loudspeaker wire ends at home thats fine by me, but there are really no benefits to it that outweighs the drawbacks.

I don´t know about electrical code in poland, but at least in germany it is against regulations to solder not just wires that go into screw terminals, but ANY mains-voltage wiring. There are just too many problems with mechanical durability of those connections.
Many screw terminals nowadays are designed to take bare stranded wire, but it´s always better to use a propper ferrule and crimp it on.
In cases where a screw directly pushes into the wire, ferrules are mandatory.

You need to buy tapping bits for impact screwdriver, save you time and hand. (they tail are hex shaped and fits straight in spindle. For thin (~ up to 10mm), metal sheets it is possible to do all operations with this tap in one process (drill + power tapping).

Skoro przystosowales elektryke do dwukierunkowego dzialania to tych naciagaczy chyba nie powinno wcale byc? Lancuch z zasady dzialania potrafi tylko *ciagnac* a nie pchac, a naciagacz teoretycznie sluzy tylko do *zbierania luzu* na lancuchu. Zmierzam do tego ze na nacigaczu beda bardzo duze sily przy obrotach "na wstecznym". Moze to zle wplynac na jego lozyska i oczywiscie pogiąć metal. Drugi naciagacz - ten blizej silnika jest na mega grubym kawalku stali - widac przemyslales to - ale mimo wszystko wydaje mi sie to troche... NACIĄGANE ;) Obym nie mial racji. Pozdro.
Bez napinaczy łańcuchy pod obciążeniem potrafiły przeskakiwać, dlatego dałem napinacze. Zrobiłem już kilka testów i jest w porządku, bez obaw :)
@@MadeinPolandChannel Nie no oczywiscie skoro uzyles lancucha to napinacz musi byc. Wydaje mi sie ze w idealnym przypadku powinny byc tryby bez lancuchow do tego typu dzialania. Ale jesli w rzeczywistosci twoje rozwiazanie dziala to nie ma co sie czepiac. Tak tylko chcialem zwrocic uwage na potencjalny problem :)
