Is that what I know as the ‘old Norwegian cast on’? Which type of cast off do you use? I know it’s important your cast on and bind off match well in a scarf like this so one side isn’t tighter from experience. Lovely scarf 🧣

I'll never forget my first scarf. I was 8. A friend taught me the knit stitch and I picked a vibrant red yarn and made a scarf that I wore every winter. I loved making it and to this day when I see that color I get the same buzz it gave me to make it and wear it. Love.

I have just finished knitting my "Easiest Scarf In The World". I used a variety of colors of worsted weight yarn from my stash, including both bright and muted colors to avoid a crayon box look. The scarf is 8.5" wide and 84" long. That length is OK because I am 5'9" tall and can wrap it this way and that to a comfortable length. Next time I make this scarf in worsted weight yarn I will cast on 250 stitches instead of 300. That will result in a 72" scarf. For a 60" scarf, you'd cast on 200 stitches if using worsted weight yarn. I knitted this scarf flat, using two Size 9, 40" circular needles like a pair of straight needles. This scarf was way too bulky to knit flat using only one circular needle.
A most enjoyable knitting project. Thank you for the inspiration, Arne and Carlos

I'm thinking of making a table runner in this manner with perhaps a cotton yarn or blend. Something washable on delicate cycle since I hope to have the 4 little grandchildren around the table again soon! I started the scarf using my scraps. It's like a walk down memory lane. It took the entire 300 plus stitches for me to figure out what I'd made with a certain beautiful purple yarn. I finally remembered that it was used for a spiral scarf, my first experience with short rows. I overestimated my long tail so I kept casting on beyond the 300. One of these rows, I'll actually count them! This is a fun project, especially one I can put down and pick up when I'm waiting for yarn to arrive for a project. Thanks Arne & Carlos!

I just finished making your Finnmark cowl. It is a fabulous pattern! Have you noticed that one way the pattern is a sunflower and turning it upsidedown makes it an owl? This is fasinating and a genius pattern. Very well done. Thank you.

I so enjoy following you, all that you share - the knitting and crochet, the warm chats, gardening, cooking, the laughs! I first discovered you years ago when I borrowed your Christmas balls book from the local library. Before I returned the book I ordered one for myself. Anyway, very good UA-cam show, I learn something every time I watch.

Love the fact there is no need to weave in the ends! What a great idea for leftover yarns. I am looking forward to trying this.

Arne and Carlos, your designer skills appear once more with the yarn color choices. The scarf colors, modeled by Carlos, are not the ordinary coordinates, but the finished result is not only unique but beautiful. Another successful tutorial by you for us - YAY!! You're the best!

I’ve done a version of this using leftover yarn, but linen stitch. The best part is that it’s basically self-fringing. I always get compliments when I wear it. ❤️❤️

Yes, the self-fringing is the best. Saves alot of time!

Lovely scarf and the perfect pattern for me. I've been knitting for years but I've never got beyond the basics of knit and purl. So I mainly knit scarves and blankets.
