    Beautiful skirt I will be making two, one for each of my youngest nieces. I also have the same thing every morning for breakfast, which is, a navel orange, Turkey bacon, 1slice of whole grain Ezekiel raisin bread, and what we have come to call egg goop, a term we created when one of my nephews was very young. Egg goop, in other words, is an all veggie (mushrooms, onions, red, yellow, orange, and green bell peppers, and some seasonings sauteed in olive oil) omelet that is scrambled.

      @@amytarvin2776 , not yet. Trying to finnish two victorian doll dresses with hoop skirts, pantaloones, hats, slippers, n purses for my two littles. Then a barbie bed doll for an older friend. And then i will be free to start. I have saved this video so as not to loose the pattern❣ i kinda goofed on the first victorian dress n had to learn tatting n micro crochet for the flowers that ho on the dresses. How on earth people use a .0 mm hook i have no idea! But i did get down to a 1.5 hook n luckily the flowers will fit the space on the yoke. Helps that i crochet tight too. Found a couple people that r amazing with those tiny flowers. Tried needle lace but again i couldnt do it. Useing a sewing needle n polyester thread is just too tiny for me. Oh, n i have to make two hat boxes too for all that, atleast 20" wide n 10" tall. Never done that before either. One dress is light teal trimmed jn dark teal. The other a light pink rose n darker (not burgandy but close [cranberryish?]) rose.

      @gaylescovel7308 2 роки тому +1

      @@amytarvin2776 , i would if i knew how. If you can sc n dc you can follow a pattern. Hoop skirt gave me a run for the money, lol. Had to ask my oldest about the first row instruction, i was so embarrassed! Then ofcourse i had to add garnishes because they both wanted pink. The white hoopskirt got bows n let me just say that was tedious getting them as little as poss! (A fork helps! 😉) N the last rd was almost 40,000 sts (counting chains too)! The easy part was useing water line tubing from the hardware. N ofcourse crocheting slipper takes me 3 tries cause the second shoe never comes out the correct size, lol. 3 times i say! 🤦‍♀️😆 The second hoop skirt i made pink n white, turned out so darling too. Mom says the one will not be disappointed with the teal color. And ofcourse these types of dresses are meant for show so i made sure these can take a beating. All the others i have made held out well thru the wash/dryer. I have a feeling these will not be played with quite so ruffly. When the time comes they will have keepsake boxes to store them in. Problem is i have acquired more patterns that require adapting to a larger size which i can do. I figure one dress a yr for each doll is enough as a gift. The biggest thing i have learned thru all this is about yarn. And tension. Sport yarn, baby yarn, "worsted wieght yarn", sock yarn, n #4 wieght yarn. N then tatting n micro crochet. Oh oh oh, here's a tip to share: to starch your flowers use 1 tsp water with 1/2 tsp white fabric glue n dab both sides, use the back of hook to shape or scoop the petals, n ket let dry. Should hold its shape thru a wash too. Oh dear its very late for me, i get up early so have a great nite❣ "Hugs"

    Making this skirt now! A tip I have is to adjust your chain amount when working the dc rows of your skirt width. 3 chains were too tall with my gauge and made a bump along the edge, so I did a chain 2 and it is nice and flush with the rest of my work!

    Thank you for the video. When you get to the waist band and the sc. Does it have to be the waist circumference? For me it's almost twice as wide. Do the slip stitch make it even smaller?
    I would be very grateful for an answer.

    • @TCDDIY

      Glad you like the video! Thank you. ☺️ The single crochet row that went along the top of the skirt should have cynched it up quite a bit since we're decreasing for that row. Then the slip stitch row will help shrink it a lite bit more. ☺️

    Hey, I know this might be a dumb question but I'm on my 25th row and I'm thinking that the length of the skirt looks reallyyy short 😅 and I'm wondering how that is gonna increase after my 180th row bcs I think that will only increase the width. And how did the length increase for you because even your length looked super tiny in the beginning around 8:43 😭 pls help I'm so confused

    • @TCDDIY
      @TCDDIY  3 роки тому +2

      No worries! The chain the I made is the length of the skirt that I wanted. If you prefer the length to be longer i'd suggest to make the initial chain as long as you want the skirt to be. It wont mess with the integrity of the skirt, so have at it! 😊

      The first thing we made was the waistband but it was just to see how many rows you need for the skirt so you can frog that later and the next part, you chain the length you want the skirt to be like if you want it to go to your knees, or a bit lower

    • @cheyenneross758
      @cheyenneross758 5 місяців тому

      Hi. I doubt you still need me to answer the question 2 months later but I decided maybe I can help someone else who might want to adjust the size.
      So instead of just counting the stitches or measurements she uses measure your own body at the widest part of your hips. That will be the length of the prep chain. But make sure your chain is an even number. For example I chained 160
      Then measure from the length you want for your skirt from the same spot you just measured since there will be a waistband as well. This way you can make the skirt knee length or longer if you want.
      Just measure out an even number of chains like before

      You have to join the two ends with a sc seam . Then turn it right side out and do a sc in the DC side and a dec in the two miss stitches side so cinch up the skirt. Then after finishing that round, ch1 and cut the yarn. Change the colour for the band if you want. Sc in all the stitches, sl st into the 1st sc . Chain 13 or how thick you want the wast band + ch 1 inset the hook in the second chain from the hook and do slip stitches (sl st) till the base, sl st the next stitch flip it and sl st in the back loop only till the end . Ch 1 flip. Back loop only sl st , repeat till the band is done. Then to join it insert the hook in the front loop and back loop of the other band and sl st till the end

    This is a cute skirt but as a beginner looking for “friendly beginner tutorial “ you lost me because you started with a chain but what did you do with the chain? How did you incorporate the chain into the pattern? Also you went from a few rows and then the video jumped to attaching two panels but you didn’t explain. I’m sorry you lost me when you did that but after reviewing the video I understood why it’s because we have to buy the pattern to go into detail and explaining how to do the skirt. I understand it’s not “beginner friendly “ .

    • @TCDDIY
      @TCDDIY  3 роки тому +20

      Hi Norma, thanks for reaching out! You definitely don't need to buy any of our patterns to complete our tutorials as many people have completed this and other just from the tutorials. 😊 The initial Chain is is just to figure out how many rows for the skirt to do, that wont be incorporated into the piece at all. The time stamp is from 2:15-2:40. And yes, It's a 3 row repeat for the skirt, but we did 6 rows on camera just to make sure we got it down and kept repeating those 3 rows off camera till we had the amount of rows we needed and that math is mentioned at 9:20. 😊 Le me know if you have any more trouble would love to help out. 💕
