Mike you need to get Alien Vs Predator 2 on PC it was made in 2002 but was AMAZING. It did the series justice.
the series reboot ... was awesome aswell, great visuals and one of the scarier ai's and movement sets for the xenomorph, downside for me atleast was the very console like control, espercially the wallwalking mechnics is obnoxious compare to the freeclimbing one in AvP2 though ^^
Yeah.. that PC game is still my absolute favorite A and or P related game. Well if i'm being honest. I can't remember if it was avp or avp2 on pc that i was the biggest fan of... one of those. Date wise I think avp2 is more likely.

Yes. The AvP game franchise has a great set of games. Not exactly the best, but I feel they do both Predator and Alien justice.
That game is one of the best FPS horror games, really creepy if you play as marine.
AVP 2 was one of the best multiplayer PC FPS's of its time. Super innovative. The last AVP game felt like a watered down version. There were just so many different tactics and ways to play it. The single player was great too. I really miss it. Death match with lifecycle mode on was always crazy fun.
I love Mike 'cause he's not only hilarious, but knows how to keep James talking. It's almost like he's interviewing him in parts of this video, which is great.
Arnie's character from the Predator flick was named Dutch Schaefer, so there's your character connection.

I remember watching one guy who was an expert on Lt. Kurosawa, he basically finished the entire game alone by comboing the shit out of everything while barely touching the ground.

She's the best character. She has the downward thrust move like Link from Zelda 2. She can use that to cheese most bosses. If you know how to use her, she's basically god mode. I realized it after playing the crap out of the arcade game. I personally think the human dude is the worst character primarily due to his gun and limited moveset.

this is one game i would hunt down an official cabinet for, and there arent that many that i can say that about, thank god for MAME Cabinets.
The two humans in the game are throwbacks to some of the Alien vs Predator and Predator lore. The guy is named after Arnold's character in the original Predator (not sure if he's supposed to be the same guy in this game). The girl is based on a character in the AvP novels.
I love how the discussions of games like Alien vs. Predator can devolve into a discussion about the intricacies of WaWa.

Alien Isolation is in my opinion the essential Alien game. The acting, the suspense, and the level of detail in the Alien universe is fantastic. Definitely recommend it

Actually, if you checked out the general background in the Aliens franchise, the Wayland-Yutani corporation actually sought to capture the xenomorphs not to kill them, but to actually produce them as their own set of bioweapons to create, breed, and control while selling them to other armies around the universe to make a huge profit as bioweapon makers. I don't know if this is accurate, but that's the impression I get, especially around the ending of Alien 3 when they wanted to bring Ripley alive with the xenomorph baby that was inside her body.
And there you have the reason why you fight human soldiers in the game. A military unit was brought in by Wayland-Yutani to capture the Aliens. The xenomorphs have some impressive abilities, but mind control isn't one of them. :P
A massievly heartwarming episode. Loved how AVP discussion slowly transcended into something much bigger, like a whole pop culture lecture, only condensed in awesomeness and served steaming hot. I've probably overdid a metaphor a litle bit, but this episode was great, really. And that's while I've already hooked on a show a lot and watch all the episodes with pleasure.
The AVP film from 2004 had actually cool action scenes, but I just couldn't stand the whole "Aliens on Earth since ancient times" thing. They should make a REAL adaptation of the original comic series by Dark Horse that was set in a space colony in the far future...
Just get Predator to hunt down a Xenomorph or multiple Xenomorphs indoors. No humans. Easy fucking movie to write. You don't need a complicated story arch. Predator hunts alien, one of them wins.

You know what? In some classical arcade games, a unit digit of the total score represents how many times the player continued after dying. This means James spent 16 quarters to beat this game, and Mike did 14 (9+5) quarters.

That is really just how lets plays work. Either you play the game well and rarely talk. Or you do less well in the game and present.
I wouldn't call this a lets play. Because a lot of people from actual lets play channels are more focussed on the games they play. And these lets play channels also most of the time only talk about the games they are playing instead of random unrelated stuff.
when i was about 12 or so (32 now), i went with my stepdad on a bizness trip to Kansas city. i stayed in a really nice hotel while my stepdad was out doing whatever. this hotel had a little arcade area in the rec room. this Alien vs Predator game was in there, and i sat and played this game for HOURS and for DAYS. no telling how many quarters i pumped into that thing. it was fucking mind blowing gameplay for me at the time. this video brings back a lot of nostalgia. thanks AVGN.

AvP was about young Predators having to "prove their worth" so to speak by hunting the Xenomorphs. The Predators had set up a controlled hunting ground in Antartica with a captured Queen producing aliens to be hunted. HUmans found the hunting ground at the same time 3 young Predators are sent to prove themselves.

I got this game on MAME ages ago, I set up my laptop like an arcade machine, where I could stand and play... I played the shit out of this game. Got to the point I could beat the whole thing, every boss, without getting hit once. Always played as Kurosawa, that character is so badass, would be awesome to see a live action version of her. In fact, I always thought the whole plot line they created with this game would translate really well to live action (certainly it would be better than AvP Requiem).
You know what would be a great VS battle... Kurosawa vs Motoko (the major from ghost in the shell) ..I don't know a lot of strong cybernetic female characters in pop fiction, but these two have got to be at the top of that group.
Capcom's best beat-em-up arcade games long ago. It was cool.
Fun note: Lt. Kurosawa (the girl character) is in the background of, I think it was a marvel vs capcom game, which means that 99% of Capcom, and Nintendo properties (thanks to smash brothers) are in the Westphall Universe.
You are forgetting about when they call Marty a Chicken 🐔 to taunt him, that is also a recurring joke in the three BTTF movies.

Mike, the arcade game you were thinking of is "Alien 3: The Gun," which (IMHO) is greatly underrated but hard as hell.
Also, as the years have gone on, I find that I appreciate the film "Alien 3" (especially the Assembly Cut) far more if I just view it as a completely independent movie, not as a continuation of "Alien" and "Aliens." As the latter, it still pisses me off, though as the former I can appreciate it for what it is.

Oddly enough, this was initially supposed to be based on an AvP script James Cameron worked on. When it fell through they just kept going and released this game as a standalone.

Best xeno designs outside the Kenner toy line, and better variety than Aliens '90 arcade. This is the video game treatment the AvP expanded universe deserved! Wish Capcom made more :(

The sad/crazy part is the premise of the arcade game was originally how the movie was meant to turn out. Those talks were like 10-15 years prior to AVP before was even thought of.
I always thought the Predators blew everything up was too prevent the Aliens from spreading.
I played this game ONCE in the arcade, and people called me nuts when I said there was a Capcom Alien/Predator game with a girl that looked like Chun-Li. Never saw it again until now. Thank you for proving to me that I didn't make it up. I also vaguely remember that it was supposed to come onto a Sega console, maybe 32X or Saturn. The magazine said to use the girl because she was the best.

The deal with the jekyll and hyde endings, as I understand it. Once youre on the last level, I believe the whole hyde getting farther than jekyll mechanic is over and hyde has to get farther than jekyll. This is where you have to employ some strategy because you need to drop your psyche meter and not your health. Best way i know to do this is to get hit by the singing ladys notes or you have to be just inside the bomb blast radius where you take little damage. I guess essentially, When Hyde gets to the final boss and defeats him, Hyde has "conquered his demons" and Jekyll can live in peace now. and the other ending Jekyll gets to the wedding before that happens and his fiancee got sick of waiting. best sense I can make of it

This is the best non dungeons n dragons beatemup Capcom has ever made. The combat is waaay deeper than Mike and James were able to show because they did less than half of the move sets of all the characters.
James's Nicholson impression is so well done it actually sounds creepy to imagine the Nerd was being possessed by the spirit of Jack's soul.

I haven't played this since spring of '95 (7th grade) at the arcade with one of my friends. I do remember we both played as Predators. I remember the cabinet having a somewhat unique look.
They should put Alien, Predator, Terminator and Robocop in one battle movie. I guess that doesn't make sense but it would be cool.
I don't think either of them realizes that the male character is Arnold from Predator.
Arnold is not only the 80s greatest action movie but also the greatest action star period. For a bunch of reasons I don't think we'll ever see that topped.

My internal arcade gamer screams as they never try to experiment with combos, don't notice the AB move costs health and waste powerups, steal each other's weapons. AvP Arcade had pretty insane combos and juggles... Atleast the stories and banter was great, though I'm bit amazed how Predators had escaped their radar. That movie is pretty gooood
I think the Aliens arcade Mike was referring to was an on-rails shooter.
RetroHabit82 Konami did an adaptation of Aliens where you play as Hicks or Ripley that might be what they're talking about.

When the bloody hell are they going to release this on home consoles? I would put down serious money to have an online co-op version of this on Switch, Steam, or anything else.
I actually grew up in Tokyo and played this game a lot in the early-mid 90s in the arcade, when I was in elementary school. This and an awesome WWF (now WWE) tag-team arcade game with the 80s stars. The end boss was the Legion of Doom. It was so good.
Mike Predators was a great movie imo. Check it out.

I actually really like the girl best of all. She has so many "secret" moves, more than any other character. She's got a Hadoken, a slide-kick, a Chun Li-style aerial head stomp, a lunging stab with her sword, and an uppercut kick kinda like Cammy's Cannon Spike.

Honestly, I loved The Leauge Of Extraordinary Gentleman. It had all of my favorite book series thrown into one movie. I thought it was very well done.
This game is a 110% better movie then Ridley's prequel trilogy, and everything after Predator 2 and Aliens. One of those games that is just better then the reboot movies. Like Ghostbuster 2009 and Alien:Isolation. One of those things where the game came out and just was a better adaption. Also... SF2 and MK... possibly better then the live movies imho.
You should read some of the Alien books, they are amazing, especially "The Rage Wars"!

Sean Connery was also offered the role of Morpheus from The Matrix around the same time Lord Of The Rings was being filmed and he didn't understand that script, either. Those two film series making tons of money and being critically praised caused him to realize he doesn't understand youth anymore.
Avp movies where definitely a disappointment but they are watchable. As far as the actual alien movies in order of best to worst I would say aliens, alien, Prometheus, covenant, resurrection, alien 3.

I really liked the movie "Predators" and was sad it was barely mentioned. I thought it was a true return to form for once. I realize that it took heavily from the original Predator movie but People love Overwatch and it copied from Team Fortress without much criticizing.

I've played this on the actual arcade cabinet and I borrowed the Capcom CPS2 motherboard along with the game off a friend of my dads. It's such an underrated beat em up game. I don't know why they didn't release it at all on a home console, I figure it probably would have had a good port on the Sega Saturn since it was during that era the game came out and the Saturn was really good with 2d graphics.

You guys need to play Alien:Isolation if you loved the originals. Definitely worth your time. I would say that is the 3rd best Alien if you could call it a movie even though it's a game. Takes a lot of the aspects from the original Alien movie.

lol, The human Characters are from the Aliens book timeline. the fun book is when they finally meet Riply and the all like wow your famous and such to each other.
The girl becomes famous for actually being part of a hunter pack for a while.
Sarge is the military counterpart to Ripply, but her also has a little girl that he looks after who is also no slouch with a gun.
Everyone hates on Resurrection, but I believe it was at least better than Alien 3.

Aliens 4 was basically trying to reboot the series, which had essentially fallen into a cinematic hole in 1991. In that sense, it can be an entertaining film. Aliens 3 was trying to deep and philosophical (in the original conception). Aliens 3 did better in Europe, then in the US
I recommend the 2010 Aliens vs Predator game made by sega. It's got a great campaign where you can play as a predator, xenomorph, and marine.
I prefer The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen over the Lord Of The Rings films.

Aliens Vs Predator 2 on PC is really great if you want to play a game that hits the same points that ALIENS did, but with Predators involved.
While neither Alien vs Predator movie is good, neither are the worst thing ever (ESPECIALLY AVP Requiem). People really blew it out of proportion. Personally, I like AVP Requiem a little more b/c it had more of the Alien and Predator fighting than the first AVP.
The major issue I had with AVP Requiem was the horrible lighting in many scenes where you couldn't see what the hell was going on. What kills me is that those scenes were lit very well in the trailers but not the finished product. Must have been some post production butchering at that rate.
I can actually tell what's going on, but if someone can't, I totally understand. It was too dark.
I had to turn up the contrast on my TV just to see anything half the time. It was really frustrating.
I not really sure, but I get the idea of what is happening MOST of the time. There are some parts where even I can't tell what's going on. It is horribly lit but some of the editing was similar to Aliens. That movie didn't really have many clear shots of the Aliens. Also, I guess I just see this movie as an improvement over the shakey cam, jump cuts in today's movies. But I get if someone can't tell what's going on. But I can for some reason.
"I get the idea of what is happening MOST of the time" is NOT a line that should be used when you refer to a MOVIE though.
AvP Requiem is a bad movie, feels pretty dull and it being extremely dark most of the time for no real reason just made it feel like they didn't have the money to show the monsters.
