FATHER, I CAN SENSE GOD!!!!
One thing that's pretty amazing is how Rudeus' and Roxy's reunion has parallels to Rudeus and Sylphie.
For years Sylphie had to go almost without any word whatsoever on Rudeus, only relying on her memories of Rudeus to keep her love alive. Rudeus had to go years between TP1 and meeting Elinalise to have any kind of news about Roxy, other than her not being in Shirone.
When Sylphie met Rudeus again, he didn't recognize her and rushed to introduce himself. Roxy didn't recognize Rudeus and politely and formally introduced herself to her savior.
When Rudeus learned who Sylphie was, the memory of her as a child amalgamated with his image of the reliable senior whom he'd fallen in love with. Roxy fell in love with the tall, handsome young man who rescued her, and then had her memories of Rudeus conjoin with the man who'd almost literally stepped out of her dreams.
But when it comes to propinquity, other than the time Rudeus hung out with her in the village and in the uni before their confessions, Sylphie had to go on practically nothing until his dossier came across her in the student council office, listing his exploits. Roxy had exchanged letters with him for years until TP1 hit, and some two years afterward learned the party she'd heard so much about for the past year had been led by him.
Not only has the student who'd never done much anything other than continually impress her both when they were face to face and through letters become an A-rank adventurer, he had befriended someone she considers to be an unstoppable boogieman. Add to that what Ruijerd and Paul might've told her about him after she'd met up with them, plus possibly hearing of the letters to Paul.
Sylphie was in love with Rudeus from the start, and it took Rudeus a year to properly fall in love with her. Roxy has fallen in love with her savior at first sight, and learning it was this incredibly accomplished and impressive young man whom she's known personally has only deepened her admiration. And he is being absolutely receptive to everything she pings his way, but that's more because of his sheer admiration of his master than romantic interest.
Paul is right to scold his son a bit, and as far as his culture is concerned, he's on the money with his dual-wielding spiel, as the only other option is to allow Roxy's heart to break. I think Paul cherishes her way too much to allow that to happen. In his eyes she was like a big sister to Rudeus while tutoring him, and she's been helpful to Paul on his quest. He'd already set himself to see Sylphie as a daughter-in-law well before TP1, and I don't think he'd be averse to the idea of Roxy being one as well. He just understands the situation needs a delicate hand in handling it so that neither Roxy, Rudeus, or Sylphy come to have any regrets about it.
How Elinalise's thoughts on the matter would factor into that would be an issue of its own. Not to mention Rudeus' own 21st century ideas of it, regardless of how far he goes native.

One thing I really liked from the novel when they are rescuing Roxy is that:
The last think she is thinking about as the monsters close in is that she really wishes she would've seen her parents one last time... awwww!
about the LN yes they go in depth of everything, the pros and cons of every necssesery items how to use rudues lamplight spirits he got from the nanahoshi scroll, elinalise new weapon and one that is good for paul. They also go into how the ones that don't go in camp outside if they need support and who handles the budget and stuff like hat (gease)
Got to love Roxy day. Been pretty low on roxygen through season 2. I love how aggressive Roxy is trying to win over Rudy.
1:03:00 Huh? I have no idea why people would not like the rat arc. If they've enjoyed the show that long I really don't get why it would be that divisive. The only way I can imagine it being THAT contentious is if they decide to do a certain something and tell the story in a way that would be more...linear than the way the LN approached it. THAT would make anime onlys and LN readers VERY divided. I would love it if they chose to expand on the rat arc, but I can hear the LN purists screeching from the future.

The linear stipulation conflicts heavily with the thematic culmination of the entire series. So yeah, LN people have a right to be pissed if such a portrayal comes to pass.

The rat storyline is one of my favorite moments in Mushoku if not my favorite. I don't think its going to turn anyone away that didn't already

44:46 Oh yeah. The novel was pretty explicit about this arc. Considering how an entire sub-arc eas cut from the anime(Rudi and Elinalise hiring a guide, them ridinf along with mercenaries, big fight scene), it's no surprise that the planning talks got minimalized.
Roxy is too cute, that little demon wizard loli talking so cutely with Rudy is too beautiful, who is going to tell her about Sylphy tho?
No Spoilers But the Rat storyline is probably one of the most important parts of this Story I cannot say anything more other then it probably is the single most important arc of the novel.
Dude doesn't seem to give a fuck about spoilers, I don't know why anyone bothers hiding them.
IRL Dungeons start appearing...
Yeah I would start exploring but more importantly I'd pack some heat... a desert Eagle at weakest. I would pack a gallon of fuel and a bunch of rope. Colect wood along the way on the last day and about 5 boxes of camping matches (those 11 inch matches with blue heads) and then canned food and a bad ass bowie knife or similar blade. The fuel would be oil of some kind because its both slick trap and fire starter.
Lots of bit and pieces for trap testing and creative field adjust tactics so I could deal with slowing foes enough.
The gun is for when I have no other options not as the first option. Also worth noting is a few Med kits.
Trying to prep for a week where I must provide for my self a bit more yes but ultimately could handle more situations and puzzles.
Secondary main weapon tho would be a Maul with a metal handle. Because should be effective if foes have armor even. Again I must note that direct combat is not my point.
Friends coming with can cover that stuff.
Roxy's voice was so sweet all episode. It's amazing how Rudeus can miss all that and not realize she's into him lmao.
He sees her as being on a completely different paradigm, and he sees himself as so lowly. He missed all the clues with Sylphie as well.
Trauma does that to people. A lot of guys miss a lot of hints that women think they're making because those same "hints" have been anything but, or even weaponized, in the past.
I wanna add something about the place roxy was in. In the ln it was actually a small room. Claustrophobic inducing
Rudy created Roxyism... enough said about impact.
Joking aside; the impact would be comparable to Laplace making the Superd what they currently are was.
History breaking in other words.
Lets say Rudy has 3 total children that learn mana warping and silent cast all magic.
then each of those 3 have 3 and so such for the next 200 years.
Even assuming that Princess Ariel did not drag Fitz into the castle to teach her kids and Lise never drags Rudy into teaching her kids for the extra trainers in the world... that is a major change as each could theoretically out MP their dad and he is scary powerful as it is.

I mean, i think I pondered a wee bit on this, but hearing Ed say it, Roxy could have probably been enough support for Rudi's self, he could have had a deadly curse, and her telling him he'd be fine would let him just go to the bathroom and crap that ol' curse out. She is THE catalyst of healing for his TWO lives. If they had come together in a random town, she could have pointed at his pecker and said "Heal!" and he would have had a hard-on for two days.
What a great episode! I enjoyed it so much. Regarding the rat, I don't believe it will cause many to abandon the saga; rather, I think it will captivate even more people. It's one of the aspects that makes this one of my favorite works. The ending too, is perfect from any perspective. I've never witnessed a more perfectly executed conclusion in anything else

Saw someone in the chat say "Paul cheated on Zenith and nothing really bad came out of it, so wouldn't [Rudy] take away from this experience that it's kind of OK to cheat?", and just wanted to remind people that Rudy had to get involved there or else Lilia would have killed herself and her child out of shame, and both of his sisters have grown up with personality issues that can be directly linked to the cheating. I think if anything, Rudy is more convinced than ever that cheating on his wife is _not_ okay.

You might think zenith’s pov on volume one says that she would, but the fact that orsted knew both of the daughters means more considering his method of knowing a person’s past/future. Not to mention its pretty much fate.
Edit: also, if zenith’s pov is what you meant then thats a new one from the ln, the wn doesnt have it.

Grandma Elinalise isn't stupid, she clearly sees what's going on between Roxy and Rudy.
If she doesn't say anything, that simply means she thinks she doesn't need to say anything in that situation.
If any, Elinalise definitely can stop Rudy from cheating on her granddaughter if she really wanted to do so. She could totally just casually tell Roxy that Rudy married her granddaughter as a fun topic when chatting casually, unlike Rudy who doesn't necessarily have a reason to fully update Roxy his current status without her actually asking for it.
No if anyone makes this this far into MT. The "rat" story line should not do much to make people stop. There is a different story line that might a bit? But even then we will see. Now maybe i don't know what the "rat" story line actually is. I believe I do! And no it's going to be awesome.

Nah man, I love the Rat storyline. The only ones who would be turned away, are those who aren't even watching the show.
Those who enjoy Mushoku Tensei are enjoying it just as much as the rest of the show. So nothing changes really.
