    I love this! Thank you for taking the time to spotlight local small business. I recently ordered a traditional offset smoker from a local fabrication shop where I live in SoCal called JH Smokers. Like you, they invited me to stop by and take a look at what the shop and see what they were working on. It was a great experience.

      Thanks for the feedback! Happy to know there are others out there wanting and doing the same thing. Congrats on the new smoker by the way. Just checked out JH's site and it looks like they have a bunch of options. Which one did you go with?

      @@HuSmokin Same here! That’s why I was thrilled when I saw your video. I went with a 6x24 traditional offset patio smoker. I was torn between choosing that or a reverse flow as I’ve heard great things about both. In the end I decided to go with the traditional route. Should be ready within the next 4-6 weeks. Excited to learn how to smoke on an offset! What style of offset are you leaning towards?

    • @HuSmokin

      Didn’t see the traditional option but I imagine it looks pretty sweet based on their pics of the reverse flow. I’ve been debating for awhile myself but I’m leaning toward a traditional as well. It’s just something I’ve always wanted and feel like I’ll be pretty happy for years to come. 4-6 weeks countdown is pretty exciting. You have a couple smokers currently right?

      @@HuSmokin That’s very exciting! I’ll be looking forward to the tutorials on some offset smoker tips from you, haha. I do have a couple smokers currently a Pit Boss pellet smoker as well as a Weber Kettle that I’ve been using to smoke indirect. I love both of them and I’m excited to add a 3rd smoker to the collection.

      Awesome job Hu. I know that you recently got a Workhorse smoker. I'll also considering a Workhorse, but just can't across Murillo MW. Cool looking smokers. I'm curious why you ended up going with Workhorse instead of the more local, and less expensive Murillo? Thanks

      Hey Robert I ended up going with a Workhorse Pits 1975. Looking back I think I would've been happy with either one.

    Awesome that you're doing this! You should go check out Harper Works BBQ next! I took inspiration from them to build my smoker.

      You built your own?? And thanks for the comment. Turns out that they actually built the pits for one of the most famous bbq joints we have up here in the Bay Area right now (Horn Barbecue). Would love to visit Harper Works and a couple others next time I’m down there in OC.

    Awesome vid! Didn't know about Murillo building pits so close to the Bay. Are you planning on getting one from them? Also, love your channel and just subbed.

      Thanks for commenting and for the sub my friend. I’m still a few months out from a new smoker but definitely want to consider local builders too. Part of it is I will have to unload some of my current cookers to fund it 😬
      Just checked out your channel too and you’re doing really cool stuff! Subbed! Love your backyard setup as well.

    Former employee. Not a great guy to work for he would cut hours every week, no healthcare or 401k, also was impatient and fired me after 1 bad day. No patience to train new welders when its an entry level job. Also would make homophobic jokes (not knowing im gay)

    • @HuSmokin

      Ack. The healthcare and retirement benefits bit is understandable… but everything else is disturbing. Sorry to hear that. Hope you’ve found a better spot.

      @@HuSmokinYeah its all good I work for a union now lol. To be fair to him his grills are pretty good its just that he wasn't good at hiring and training new people. Hell even before he gave me the job he would complain about his previous hires and even on the job as well. Not very professional in my opinion.

      @@HuSmokin He promised a 60 day finish with pics of the build and delivery and it is going on 98 days since the start and nothing……all I get are excuses! He says he is overwhelmed and has no time! So I paid for shipping and he made dates and promises to deliver and to be changed last minute by him as he always has plans and such! It not a professional way to handle business as you should always contact the customer to keep them informed of situations,and he not once got ahold of me first! It has been a horrible experience and I have been more than patient with the guy to just get brushed off ! He is turning out bigger builds to customers and I got put on the back burner! I would not recommend anyone to this guy as it has been a bunch of broken promises and no product!

    • @HuSmokin
      @HuSmokin  3 роки тому

      That is not cool whatsoever. I’m sorry to hear that this is happening. Are you sure those other builds weren’t ordered before yours? Either way the communication sounds incredibly frustrating. Thanks for letting us know. Hopefully this gets resolved quickly.

      @stephenfriend442 3 роки тому

      @@HuSmokin yeah who knows about the other builds but anyway I wouldn't want you to recommend someone to this guy and the same thing happens again!

    • @HuSmokin
      @HuSmokin  3 роки тому

      Dang I’m sorry this is happening to you. My interactions have always been positive over there and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt… but to your point, paying customers should be getting clearer communication no matter what. Personally I haven’t had the best of luck interacting with a few other builders in the last year either. I imagine it’s because everyone is backlogged so keeping us updated regularly is neglected. Again I appreciate you sharing your experiences so far. And again hoping this gets resolved quickly and that the smoker itself meets all of your expectations!
      What are you having them build for you if you don’t mind me asking?
