this may be a silly question but what will happen to the crystals? like when the candle is all done what do you do with the crystals? do we just throw them out or are they salvageable? what do you do?
This is a great question! For the big crystal at the top I recommend to take it out during the first burn of the candle. Some crystals I add are pretty big and the burn of the candle will be less good but also the flame can touch the crystal and not all crystals can stand heat that well. The smaller ones you can leave in or also take out. My dad is a pro at removing the crystals at the end. If you don't wait till the candle is burned completely (which you really shouldn't with a candle) you can whip them out when the last bit of wax is still a bit warm, take out the crystals and clean them. :) Hope this helps!
Thank you for this-very calming and inspirational! Can you drop different types of scented oils or spices for scent to it? What's the best place to get the herbs?
Yes I sometimes add multiple oils/scents and it works amazing :). Depends on where you live. I have an organic loose tea store where I live and otherwise you can find a lot of herb stores online.
A friend of mine makes my logo and label designs. I put the label on the candle from this video in a Word document and then I printed it (I do have to cut them because Word is kinda crappy to work with), but for a project I am currently working on, we custom made the labels and sent them to a company who printed them so they look more professional.
i’m obsessed with that amethyst at 3:52. it looks like a tiny amethyst cluster !!! I am about to add candles to my etsy and am wandering where on earth you found that little guy!
It's pretty isn't it? I decided to keep this candle for myself because I couldn't say goodbye to this beauty! I bought it in a small shop in the south of the Netherlands which unfortunately closed when Corona started. Up until now, I have not found another shop with such an assortment of pretty crystals. But it is a raw amethyst if you want something similar. Goodluck with your Etsy shop! 🧡
These are so beautiful, can you tell me your experience with the herbs catching fire? I've wanted to do some like this but have been warned numerously not to for the hazard they pose. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Hi Renee! If you make sure the herbs aren't too close to the wicks, there is no hazard. Sometimes big rose buds who touch the flames can catch fire, but it's easy to blow them out. For the rest of the smaller herbs, they just float in the wax so they become wet and nothing will happen as for my experience. I have never had any complaints from costumers.
Hi , where can I get the essential oils and ingredients to start making candles. I’m a retiree, doing it as a hobby. Thank you. Your videos are amazing, hoping to follow it step by step.
Hi! I buy my oils online at a local candle shop where they sell oils especially suitable to use in candles as not all essential oils will work. Also for my wax, glasses, wicks and colourings, I shop them all online. For herbs I go to my local herb/tea shops or you can also buy them online. A great way to find glasses/jars, is your local thrift/charity shops. You need to research a lot, before you find the right shops that work for you! Good luck and have fun with the journey :)
This was such a beautiful & calming video!!! I do have a question,, how do I know when the temperature is right while warming up the heat, what degree should it be at? :)
I have been told that herbs/flowers etc. will catch on fire, and crystals will explode in candles. What should be done to ensure this doesn’t happen when the candle is lit? I saw that in Australia it is illegal to have candles with items in them that don’t burn away in 5 seconds or less, so for these types of candles you must remove the roses and crystals before lighting. I would really like to make and sell these types of candles in the US, so any tips on doing so without any fire hazards would be greatly appreciated ❤️Thank you - great tutorial!
Hej! I always advise you to remove bigger herbs and crystals before the first burning, just in case. And it is wise to never leave a candle like this out of sight or leave the room while having this lit because you never know. Most of the time the herbs will float in the wax and won't catch fire, but rosebuds for example are bigger so they also float above the wax and they can drift towards a wick and can catch fire. It is a use at own risk situation, people should be very aware of the dangers. I always include a warning sign with clear instructions on how to use a candle like this. Some people don't even lit their candle because they think it's too pretty to be used, but personally I have never had any bad experiences with my candles and whenever I sold one, I only received good feedback. Sometimes, I like to get back to customers and ask them about their experiences so I can learn from it for future candles I make.
So if you want to stay on the safe side, use only small or very little herbs. You can also only put them in the bottom of your candle. That also looks very pretty. Just pour a little amount of wax in a jar, put your herbs of choise in. If you use a glass jar, make sure you can see them against the glass and wait for it to set completely before you pour in the rest of the wax (without herbs). That will give you a very pretty candle as well, and makes for safer use. And then you can always put a few bigger ones on top for decoration, but make sure you let your costumers know to remove them before burning the candle. Goodluck with your journey! ✨️❤️
I always recommend taking the big crystals on top out during the first time burning a candle. Depending on the size, because some crystals can fall on top of the wicks and drown them and not all crystals can stand heat so they lose their healing properties.
I’m glad I saw your video! I’m trying to make my own candles but want to have the rocks, herbs and flowers inside and on top of the candle. Is that not suggested to keep the rocks inside of the candle, and does it risk harm of a fire starting if that’s done?
@@MariaEOD Sometimes a rock falls in the candle when I was planning to only have it at the top, so I think if you don't overload the candle with too many rocks and keep it away from the wick, you are totally fine! :)
That happens to me also, then you have to wait a little longer for your wax to be cooler and then they will stay on top of the wax. How hot do you pour your wax? Maybe try to make your container warm in hot water. It is possible that the wax gets a big shock when it hits the cold glass/metal or whatever you use to make your candles. I love this video! I'm looking for unique candle making ideas because I'd like to start making my own. You make it look so simple!! I really wanna try this. At 4:18 you mention because of the heavy amethyst the wax will blow up.... Is that a typo or is that a real possibility? Thank you so much for the inspiration 😊
Hi! Thank you for your kind words! No it is not a typo, but maybe it is written a bit unclear. When you add any stone to wax that is in it's drying process, it can happen that because of the pressure of the stone, air can come in the wax or movement of the wax will happen. In this case you can see that the wax will bubble to the surface next to the stone. That is all I mean by blow up. Movement will happen when you add anything to the candle, and your drying surface will be less smooth. I hope this helps, and good luck with your candle adventure! ❤
Hej! It depends on a lot of things actually. How big your jar is, how hot you pour your wax and where you want your herbs in your candle. I order my scents from websites who are specialised in making candles so where they also sell whicks and wax. I believe it is okay to just use essential oils, but I want to be sure my candles are safe as I also sell them. The wax I use is vegan, so it's harder to get the scent very strong so I like to only use scents that are made specifically for candles.
Great video thanks for showing! I realize if I put my heavier flowers or crystals in before it completely dries, the wax cracks. If I use my heat gun to even it out, my flowers will blow away. What do you suggest I can do to combat this?
Hej! Have you ever tried to let your candle completely dry before you add any flowers or crystals? Then you only heat the wax with the heat gun, and then you can add everything at the same time without any cracks or things blowing away.
@@TurasOfficial yes that's actually my main method since the previous one caused cracking, however the heat gun burns the candle wick a bit so the wick becomes brown instead of white. Any suggestions?
@@ronib7984 I have never tried a heat gun, I am going to start with that soon. But I used to take a clothes pin and with the use of barbeque sticks for meat, I could hang them over my jar. That really helped me because the bigger items wouldn't fall in the candle itself and I could wait a little longer to add the smaller herbs I wanted to add..
Hiya, thank you! I use normal glue for crafting, wood and paper. Don't use super glue, because that doesn't stick on glass. You need a very tacky thicker glue you can buy at home depot stores (or craft stores)
have a question for you and I hope to hear from you if you have time! I’m currently making beef Tallow Candles but I’m having a difficult time finding a cost effective way to add scent. I have used essential oil‘s but I have to use over 60 drops to even get a smell. I don’t want to use fragrance oils because they’re not natural. Would you recommend that I mix the tallow with another fat like coconut oil? Do you think these two would mix well or is there another one you would recommend?
Hi! I am sorry I can not help you with your question. I only use vegan wax and have never or will never work with beef tallow so I have no idea how to add or work with essential oils in this case! Good luck :)
Thank you! :) Yes I just leave them and try again. I will ruin the candle if I try to get it out unfortunately. I also feel it gives extra special magic to the candle and it looks really pretty when the candle is almost burned to the bottom.
So I am going to do this, and a "candlemaker" in a group I belong to was going on about what a fire hazard it is, the petals, etc will catch the house on fire, etc. LOL. YOURS is gorgeous, have you had any "catch on fire" stories told to you from people making these? xoxox
Hi Lady Joy! Up until now, I have not had any stories about candles I have made and sold that have been caught on fire or from people who make their own! I always add an extra warning and advice people to remove big herbs away from the wicks, but if a candle burns long enough, the herbs will float in the wax and occasionally a flower bud will catch on fire which you can remove or blow out and move out of the way. No houses on fire yet!
You can use any crystal you like. I use crystals, fitting to the type of candle I make. Use whatever you find pretty :). And I only use scents that are especially made to use for candles just to be sure it works well.
I get my herbs from my local tea shops or online where they sell dried herbs. Same with crystals. I go to wholesale stores in my neighbourhood or online, depends on what I need. There is a calculation you can do which you can probably find online where they tell you how much wax compared to oil you need, but I do it by smell and by feeling. When my wax is below 85 degrees Celsius, I add as much oil as I feel is needed. :)
I use normal glue for crafting, wood and paper. Don't use super glue, because that doesn't stick on glass. You need a very tacky thicker glue you can buy at home depot stores (or craft stores)
Goodmorning! I get my herbs from special tea and herbal shops and sometimes order them online. And most of my crystals come from crystal warehouses around where I live, or on a rare occasion I buy them online if I really trust it. I don't know about vendors from China. Of course there could be good ones, but most of the crystals are fake. Do some good research and check the prizes. If you have more information about the crystals you want, you get a better understanding if the vendor is asking decent pricing. Good luck and thank you for your kind words
It depends on how big the candle is and how long it takes for the candle to cool down. With a candle this size it can take up to 45 min before I can start to add herbs. The best trick is to start adding your toppings and when they sink to the bottom of the candle, you are too early. It's really trial and error and depends on what kind of wax and glass size you use. If you have done it a few times, you start to recognize the way the wax works and when it is time to start your toppings! :)
Sorry if it is written a bit unclear. When you add any stone to wax that is in it's drying process, it can happen that because of the pressure of the stone, air can come in the wax or movement of the wax will happen. In this case you can see that the wax will bubble to the surface next to the stone. Exactly like air bubbles. :) That is all I mean by blow up. Movement will happen when you add anything to the candle, and your drying surface will be less smooth. I hope this helps. ❤
In the beginning the herbs won't burn, as they gently float in the wax, but you should never burn a candle more than 4 hours and don't burn it till the end of the jar, otherwise the herbs will become black, can catch fire and the glass may break.
I always recommend to remove bigger things such as crystals. The flowers will just float in the melting wax and won't cause any harm. Bigger flowers/herbs can always catch fire, so it is advised to keep a close eye on them or remove them just in case :).
Hi Moni! I understand your concerns. I have tested my candles multiple times before selling them by friends and family and nothing has ever happened. People need to know they need to be extra cautious when burning candles like this. Yes, (bigger) herbs can catch fire and then they need to be blown out or removed from the candle. But from my experience, a lot of herbs float in the wax and if you place them far away from the wicks, it will be fine. I always recommend to remove the crystal during the first few minutes of burning the candle for safety reasons and for not wasting any beautiful stones. I plan to post a time lapse of burning one of my candles, hope to figure out how to get the proper lighting soon! Have a great day, Chloe.
Candles crystal candles and candles with dried flowers are being sold. For exorbitant prices. I'm starting to wonder if the comments aren't candle mfs trying to discourage diys.
Try it! Start with very little herbs and see that happens. When you are confident, you can start adding more and more. Testing whilst making candles like this is very important. It took me a long time before I started selling candles like this.
I'm using vegan soy wax and cotton wicks. I don't know what they are called, I order them on a website and they only have codes as names and the wicks are ordered on the size candle jar I use. It depends on the width of a jar/glass what wicks are best to use.
@@itsmeorwhatever627 Exactly! I always make sure I don't use big herbs. Once the candle is lit, they mostly float in the wax, so as long as they don't come near the wick you are safe. Constant monitoring and never leaving the room when your candle is lit, is very important. I have never had any issues or had any feedback that anything happened.
Hi, You can add dried flowers, but there is always a risk for them to catch fire and to burn. Sometimes I add big dried rose buds, but if they are too close to the wick, they will catch fire. I don't know which other toppings you mean?
It is glue I bought at a hardware store or you can buy glue at a hobbycraft store. Any glue that sticks to glass works. I prefer mounting glue (if I say it correct :))
Can you explain please exactly a little more regarding your statement that due to the HEAVY stone the wax will BLOW UP.? BLOW UP as in explode or exactly how do you mean?
Because of the bigger Amethyst crystal I add to the top and slightly push into the wax, the wax besides it will blow to the surface and create bubbles. That will make the top layer of the candle less smooth, so in the video I try to "hide"(fix) that with adding more herbs over the little wax bubbles. The wax does not explode, no worries. It just floats up to the surface more because at a different place in the candle, something heavy is added. Hope this helps :)
@@itsmeorwhatever627 I advice to take out the big crystals that are used at the top of the candle when you light them so you can use them. You can always clean crystals when the candle is burned completely and maybe use them again, but I believe that their magic is lost in the process.
You can find a lot of crystals stores online, but they can be a bit on the expensive side. I always like to go to warehouses in my neighbourhood. They normally sale in bulk and are way cheaper.
I’d love to make these for Christmas gifts. Can you suggest online retailers that sell real crystals? I’m always afraid of getting scammed with “crystals” from China!
Hi! I always try to buy my crystals in real stores (warehouses) which I can visit and check out the quality of the crystals. It can be a big hassle to find the right store with the variety of crystals you seek, but it is worth the trouble. I don't really buy crystals online, except when I really need to and I know they are legit and trustworthy.
@C.R. Persevering Pisces That really depends on what you want to achieve. If you want your herbs to float in your candle, you can do it fairly quickly. If you only want herbs on top, you should wait a bit longer and then see how they float in/on the wax and if it is set enough for bigger flowers to stay on the surface. It is a bit hard to explain, but it is really trying and see what happens. Sometimes, after pouring a candle, I can check the candle for an hour because I keep coming back to see how set the wax is and how the herbs are reacting with it. What I don't prefer to do myself, but what I see a lot of people doing when they add herbs, is that they first make the candle without, let it set completely and then take a blow torch and only melt the surface again and then stick in the herbs/flowers/crystals of their preference. Then you won't have the problem of anything falling to the bottom of the candle or messing up the surface of it because of air bubbles.
I just saw someone add coconut oil to the wax and said it helps it burn evenly...it doesn't make sense to my unknowledgeable eye as to why I would want to set coconut oil on fire inside my home... can you let me know if I'm wrong.
Hi! To be honest I have never heard anyone put coconut oil in their candles. I have no problem with them burning uneven other than some parts of the wax sticking to the glass because of the herbs I add. Sorry I can not give you the answer you are looking for! X
Sometimes big herbs can catch fire when they are close to the wick, but most of the time the herbs sink in the wax as the candle burns, so they are wet and nothing happens with them. :)

I clip in my bigger items such as crystals and bigger herbs to the clothes pin and add the rest when the wax is more dry. That really helped me because the bigger items wouldn't fall in the candle itself and I could wait a little longer to add the smaller herbs I wanted to add..
I don't know if you understand what I mean, but you can see me do it in this video ua-cam.com/video/18x7x-naYAk/v-deo.html at around 1:11
Hi, very nice video, I would like to know what glue do you use. Thank you!
Gorgeous. What do u do when the crystals fall in the bottom do you just leave them? X
Thank you! :)
Yes I just leave them and try again.
What are the essential oils and types of crystals do you use?
You can use any crystal you like. I use crystals, fitting to the type of candle I make. Use whatever you find pretty :). And I only use scents that are especially made to use for candles just to be sure it works well.
Hi, thanks for sharing! Is your scent a candle made scent or essential oil please?
Hi! It is a candle made scent 😊
im here clapping for you
Where do you get your dried flowers and crystals from? And how do you know how much oil to add to the wax?
I get my herbs from my local tea shops or online where they sell dried herbs. Same with crystals. I go to wholesale stores in my neighbourhood or online, depends on what I need.
There is a calculation you can do which you can probably find online where they tell you how much wax compared to oil you need, but I do it by smell and by feeling. When my wax is below 85 degrees Celsius, I add as much oil as I feel is needed. :)
Wow! Do you have an affiliate link for those flowers
I wish I did! I bought them at my local tea shop.
Hello sir i want to know when we ignite the candle herbs nd dry flower leafs will get start burn thn weird se smell aane nhi lg jaayegi
i wonder what kind of glue u use for the wicks to stay more settled in the glasses,
I use normal glue for crafting, wood and paper. Don't use super glue, because that doesn't stick on glass. You need a very tacky thicker glue you can buy at home depot stores (or craft stores)
Where do you get your herbs and crystals? I was thinking about a vendor from China but idk . 💜 your candles are beautiful by the way ☺️
Goodmorning!
Approx how long do you let it cool before you put the dried herbs on top?
It depends on how big the candle is and how long it takes for the candle to cool down. With a candle this size it can take up to 45 min before I can start to add herbs. The best trick is to start adding your toppings and when they sink to the bottom of the candle, you are too early. It's really trial and error and depends on what kind of wax and glass size you use. If you have done it a few times, you start to recognize the way the wax works and when it is time to start your toppings! :)
When you say, "because of the heavy Amethyst the wax will blow up" what do you mean by that? Like air bubbles?
Sorry if it is written a bit unclear. When you add any stone to wax that is in it's drying process, it can happen that because of the pressure of the stone, air can come in the wax or movement of the wax will happen. In this case you can see that the wax will bubble to the surface next to the stone. Exactly like air bubbles. :)
That is all I mean by blow up. Movement will happen when you add anything to the candle, and your drying surface will be less smooth.
I hope this helps. ❤

cool! won't they get burned though..?
In the beginning the herbs won't burn, as they gently float in the wax, but you should never burn a candle more than 4 hours and don't burn it till the end of the jar, otherwise the herbs will become black, can catch fire and the glass may break.
Does it burn well with crystals and flowers etc? would the larger things need to be removed before burning?
I always recommend to remove bigger things such as crystals. The flowers will just float in the melting wax and won't cause any harm. Bigger flowers/herbs can always catch fire, so it is advised to keep a close eye on them or remove them just in case :).
A heat gun helps settle the crystals as well
What type of glue was used for the wicks ?
I used normal very strong glue you can also use for your everyday items!
It will pretty when crystals havefallei
It looks beautiful but I’ve seen a lot videos where they show how dangerous hazard due to the crystals and flowers tend to be this candles.
Have a great day,
Chloe.
I've heard the same, I might try this
it is dangerous the stone might explode
Candles crystal candles and candles with dried flowers are being sold. For exorbitant prices. I'm starting to wonder if the comments aren't candle mfs trying to discourage diys.
Hm, candles like these are definately sold... Just another form of dressing candles 🤔
I am making candles now and I want to add flowers and stuff but the flame and catching fire I fear will happen
Try it! Start with very little herbs and see that happens. When you are confident, you can start adding more and more. Testing whilst making candles like this is very important. It took me a long time before I started selling candles like this.
Can you tell me what type of candle wax you're using and Candlewick for the jar
I'm using vegan soy wax and cotton wicks. I don't know what they are called, I order them on a website and they only have codes as names and the wicks are ordered on the size candle jar I use. It depends on the width of a jar/glass what wicks are best to use.
@@TurasOfficial what website? I'd love to make my own candles looks so relaxing!
How long time wise is "let the candle get almost hard"? Like an hour? 3 hours?
Depends on how big your jar is, but mostly it is around 45 min to an hour :)
Dont the dried flowers catch fire ? Are you supposed to put another glass inside a glass ?
@@itsmeorwhatever627 Exactly! I always make sure I don't use big herbs. Once the candle is lit, they mostly float in the wax, so as long as they don't come near the wick you are safe. Constant monitoring and never leaving the room when your candle is lit, is very important. I have never had any issues or had any feedback that anything happened.
Hi, is it safe to add dried flowers and other topping for decor? Won't they burn down and leaving smell and ashes?? Pls reply
Hi,
You can add dried flowers, but there is always a risk for them to catch fire and to burn. Sometimes I add big dried rose buds, but if they are too close to the wick, they will catch fire.
I don't know which other toppings you mean?
what glue is that for the candle wick holders
So…can you light the candle just like that? Wouldn’t the big crystal fall to the bottom?
You can yes, but I always recommended to remove the crystal during the first burn as it can fall in or fall on top of the wicks and suffocate them.
So by adding dry flowers and stuff, will that not start a fire towards the end of the candle?
No
@@MissTia777 thanx
It will not start a fire, but the herbs can get completely black. If you don't burn your candle all the way to the end, there will be no problem.
You have to let the wax dry and pour a second wax and add all the ingredients you want please
Also possible! :)
once the candle is burnt, what can you do with the crystals? They can be reused? :)
@@itsmeorwhatever627 I advice to take out the big crystals that are used at the top of the candle when you light them so you can use them. You can always clean crystals when the candle is burned completely and maybe use them again, but I believe that their magic is lost in the process.
@@itsmeorwhatever627 haha no worries!! We are all learning new things every day :)
Where are some places that you can purchase the crystals from
You can find a lot of crystals stores online, but they can be a bit on the expensive side. I always like to go to warehouses in my neighbourhood. They normally sale in bulk and are way cheaper.
Where do you get the crystals from?
I get them from a lot of places! In wholesale crystals stores in my country or online if I trust it! :)
I get mine on amazon
At what right temperature should the wax be?
For the scent to be put in or for what purpose would you like to know? 😀
@@TurasOfficial When it's ready to cool and also how long after should I set flowers, herbs and/or crystals or trinkets?

How do the herbs not catch fire?
Sometimes big herbs can catch fire when they are close to the wick, but most of the time the herbs sink in the wax as the candle burns, so they are wet and nothing happens with them. :)
