      I hope you're going to restore the body .. then you will have something... I am 66 yrs old, back in high school the postal service was retiring these 3 wheel carts, it became a super trend in South Florida where I'm from, the kids old enough to drive was buying these left and right to fix up and make them look cool, if you drove one to school you were cool...

    I wanna see the kids paint this thing! Top to bottom, prep and everything, all THEIR work, with Dad only providing the guidance. Turbo cans. Even clear over the turbo can Rustoleum. Seems like it would make a great project and great video. Squeeze can recreate the old Zip Code guy logo for the side (maybe goat themed), get it printed on vinyl and slap it on. Use it to run around at events, it would be a hit. Those kids are getting to be very capable with wrenches!

    47 yrs in machining business, a few things to keep in mind on a lathe. Make sure your tooling is on center with the center line of the chuck. ei. cutting tool point in line with center of work piece.
    Also be sure when grinding a tool bit the front and sides of the tool hve clearance so not to rube any surface youre machining.
    Run the spindle slower for bigger diameters to reduce tool wear and heat.
    Try to find a you tube channel on basic machining. With just the basics you will be able to do alot on a lathe

      No need for coolant when turning cast iron, the graphite in the material does that job. Just get the tooling clearances correct and it cuts.

    5 hours for that hub isn’t bad for a first project. My Dad was a machinist by trade until he retired. Bought an old used lathe and never set it up in the 4 years he had it before he passed away. It was all Greek to me but I finally found a young man interested in learning the trade enough to fix his own mistakes.

    I know you get a lot of comments but I’ve restored 3 of these Cushman’s. First was a 65 3 wheel Truckster. Second was a 76 4 wheel dump truck. Hydraulic dump bed. I wished I would have kept it. They both had the 18hp OMC engines 3 speed on the column with high and low range rear end. The last was more of the meter maid vehicles and had the water cooled Dihatsu engine. I’ve moved on to old Chevy trucks now. The drive line WaWa was looking for bolt looked like a “spool” . Two disc with a probably an 1 1/2 diameter pipe in between. Rubber bushings in 4 holes in the disc to give some flexibility. Looks like you got it handled though. Love your channel! If you have any Cushman questions I might be able to help. I might still have my repair books. God bless you!

    Sleeperdude family working like a well oiled machine. Everyone doing a job on the same small vehicle getting things done. Ralphie’s fabrication skill are so impressive. Wawas mechanical skills are best yet, she loved getting dirty. Squeezy’s continues to advance in her art. Mom is always using her management skill with family and animals. The young sleeperdude’s are getting the best hands on education by dad passing on his experiences. This is such a joy to watch.

    A rubber donut from bmw or Mercedes drive shaft may fit your flange. I don't think straight bolts will hold together very long.. vibration will be crazy. Ask me how I know. Lol

      It was called usually a Guibo coupler and was used as a center support for driveshafts.

    • @mikeburk3840
      @mikeburk3840 Місяць тому +1

      @itsmephil2255 because I did it already. It was hard to find more flanges after I destroyed them using bolts and spacers. I wish I can remember exactly which donut I used after I got flanges. It was probably bmw. Because I had a bmw shop at the time.

    • @mikeburk3840
      @mikeburk3840 Місяць тому

      @@axleratio we always called it a donut . Lol. It wasn't a center support bearing. It's a vibration damper for the driveshaft. Mostly German cars used them. Some cars only had one and some had 2. They work good if you don't boost the car to much. My 64 CSA used to blow them when I drag raced. Finally fixed it by putting 735i donut in it.

    I was a machinist for quite a while. Have ol Ralph do some homework about getting tools on center. When your tool is on center things cut easier, tools last longer, and surface finish improves

    Definitely the hardest working family on UA-cam. You are instilling priceless worthwhile knowledge onto your kids and they are running with it. Great job y'all. This is what makes this channel successful and appealing to the masses just seeing kids turning and burning these projects out is building their confidence in their own problem solving skills. Wawa is a funny and amazingly talented young lady and she is going to be a very impressive adult soon. It always surprises me just how quickly kids grow up and these kids are growing like weeds and soaking up so much knowledge that will be helpful in their future endeavors putting them in a much better situation than 95%of there piers. You are raising these kids right. Keep up the amazing work sleeperdude family.
