I would love this in black!!! I want to paint ghost stripes on my black charger and have been looking for information on how to do this!!! Wonderful video!!!
Sweet job buddy!! 🔥, i have confusion on how long the base and midvoats stay open, alot of ppl in watching seem to goutside the recoat window on tds sheets, yet they dont have trouble with adhesion, really nice job you are doing dude!!
Thank you, I usually check by feel or go by the sheet. I'll check my clear by touching a piece of tape near where I spray and it should feel like the sticky side of the tape, not stringing. That has worked great for me or just wait 15min between coats is a good rule of thumb!!!
We usually watch a Bob Ross video when I make pizza for supper , it’s very chillin , so I’m going to give your Designs a go and see how my pizza turns out ! My 67 RS is the same colour without a stripe and have been thinking of striping it for some time now. I’m not a painter but have worked on cars all of my life so this will be a good challenge for me. The spacing of the stripes has always been my biggest concern and really like your method and am not sure exactly how to knock off the clear coat but I’ll be wet sanding a bit. I’m also thinking how to tie in the colour of the stripe elsewhere on the car and am looking at painting the rally rims to match but that is a whole other nut to crack. I liked having lunch with the body shop guys at our dealer because they were always more chilling and making there cool toys shiny. Good luck , good health , and good fortune to you and thanks for your passion and patience. What flavour is bumble bee pizza?
Hahaha thanks for the kind words, I love Bob Ross also, if your gonna add a stripe over clear i personally would use 600 wet or no finer than 800 wet.as for addin the color other places, I like to see the accent color on the tail pannel between the tail lights. God Bless and thanks for the support!!!!!!¡
What a great video:). I have a 71 Restomod Camaro that is all red. Love the color, but I want something to add to the field of red:). Pearl ghost stripes I think would look perfect. Thanks for the great video.
Great video turned out great. You can do ghost stripes with your basecoat just layout your stripes after base and clear then spray the base in the opposite direction you sprayed it on your last coat it turns out killer.
You’ve got skills! I’ve lost track, what was the number of coats again? 3 colour, 3 clear, wet sand with 600, 3 clear , and now 3 more clear after the ghost stripe?
Lol thanks, I just do this on the show cars I do, usually ill do 2 coats of sealer, 2 coats of base or till it covers plus 1, then 3 medium coats of clear, block 600 flat the 3 more medium coats then color sand 1000,1500,2000,2500 the 3000 then buff.thanks for watching!!!!
I think we wet sanded it with 600 grit. The pearl magnifies scratches real easy the red scotch brite may leave faint scratches. You may try the grey scotch bright. But if you have a test pannel try the red it maybe fine. I just dont want to lead you wrong and mess up something lol. Hope this helps!!!!
Yes its tought knowing when its enough. When spraying it looks like your not doing nothing lol. You can try 1 coat on a practice pannel and get it the way you like it. The customer liked it a little more visible.
Quick question. When you start spraying the clear coat, why does it have that orange peel effect when spraying with a quality gun? The end outcome came great, but did you adjust something on the fly?( I’ll go back and see if I missed anything in the video). Most people who use this gun have ultra fine mist on the first coat. I know all guns are different, and the first layer clear coat is “ just the first coat” nothing special. Also what were your gun settings with fluid, psi, and fan?
Hahaha you caught me, When I started spraying the first coat I noticed it didn't have enough pressure, I checked my regulator and it was right. I started on the other side and remembered I turned down the air valve on the gun to do some touch up with base and never turned it back wide open lol luckily if flowed out pretty slick before I started on the 2nd coat. As for my gun settings its usually by feel, air psi at regulator is 26 to 28 psi, the fan pattern is wide open and as for the fluid its pretty wide open I just regulate it with my trigger pull. Check out motivated painters he has a video on gun settings that works pretty good. Thanks for watching!!
@@ACDesignsGarage “The cobbler’s kids have no shoes…” as the saying goes. I’m going to try painting mine. Maybe Pearl white with non Pearl bumblebee stripe, or black Pearl stripe. Can’t make up my mind on any color yet…

Can it be done so it doesn’t show up at all tell reflection of the sun or light? I like the idea of an invisible 🫥 ghost stripe…..

What color is that?
That is a factory dodge color called passion red pearl I think its called, they also put it on jeeps and rams
I need you to paint my 68!
I appreciate it, I gonna start on some of my projects next. You believe I've never painted a car of my own since I started painting 20 years ago lol

@@davidspangler8337 hahahaha so true. The color is the hardest thing for me to choose. I think that mix of pearl and non pearl would be a cool effect
How can it be a ghost stripe when you can clearly see it??
Depends on the light conditions, if its over cast you cant see it or inside the shop. The customer didn't want it to ghosted.
Can I send you a 67 to paint?
Thanks for the offer but im covered up for a couple of years lol
That's slick.
Thank you!!!!!
