    In China, the ranking is Second Class, First Class and Business Class. Business Class in Chinese language sounds better and fancier than First Class, so the facility in Business Class is better.

    • @theBeganovich

      That makes sense, we were really confused when booking 😀

    • @GyacoYu

      Sometimes there's one more, altogether five classes on the EMU: Business-class, *Specia-class,* 1st-class seat, 2nd-class seat and no seat. Special in the sense of special olympics, so it's also better than first class.
      The airplane language is also weird, as imo "business" and "economy" should mean essentially the same thing, except that those business slaves may book an economy seat while those high-class economists may book a business or first class seat. There's no guarantee that the word "economy" should mean "budget".

    • @GyacoYu
      @GyacoYu Рік тому

      Well, apparently it's translated "Premium Class" instead of "Special Class", but if you read Chinese, it's the same character as the "special" in special olympics.

    When China opens up for tourists you guys should defo visit China. The bullet trains are of a higher caliber than this one.The facade alone is totally different from how bullet trains look in China. The train looks like just the High speed train not the Bullet one in China..:) I also agree that trains are more convenient than planes to be completely honest... ahahah Train stations as well are massive in China almost the same size size as the airports.

      Got to say you are a good predictor. Well, the facade of 250km/h+ trains may or may not be better, depending on personal aesthetic appreciate. But the facade of the same 160km/h CR200J make would look way more awkward than this Laotian LCR200J. So if they take a train to Xishuangbanna, via the Chinese section of the China-Laos railway, they would see a giant green caterpillar waiting for them on the platform.

    the Laos train is a 160km/hr train, not high speed rail standard due to high cost of construction Laos can't afford... within china the bullet train speed should be 350km/hr for most lines.

    • @theBeganovich
      @theBeganovich  Рік тому +3

      Good to know, when purchasing tickets, there were many options, some of them definitely advertised 200 mph, can't confirm if they're actually running

    • @catbertevil750
      @catbertevil750 Рік тому +2

      @@theBeganovich this might have something to do with the top capability the locomotives and the rail have. the CR200 locomotives that run in Laos have the capability to run at 200km/hr, so is the rail laid there, but the normal/economical speed should be 160km/hr... this is consistent with chinese standards, i.e. CR400 locomotives and top HSR rails in china are capable of 400km/hr speed, but normal/economical operation speed is 350 km/hr.

    • @redhongkong
      @redhongkong Рік тому +4

      they are capable of running 250kph i think, but run with reduced speed to lower maintenance cost. its similiar to china reducing its 350kph train with lower speed on less popular route

      @@theBeganovich They are only running 160 km/h because the rail line is still single tracked (idk why), and there is no timeline that I know of when 250 km/h speed will be possible (my guess is when Thailand's section from Bangkok to Nongkhai is finished, so probably within the next decade)

Yet the waiting area you showed that was not business class was very crowded and I saw another video yesterday that showed big crowds in the train itself too.
