I was there, right at the front…it was the day before my standard grade maths exam, I was 15. Pretty sure I’ll never go to a better gig as long as I live.
I'll never forget the first time I watched, I didn't know it was the beastie boys, just a great dj , and then the beastie boys come to the stage and set it on fire, mind-blowing
I went to this tour and The Jungle Brothers were the support. They came onstage on BMX bikes. I still have my Mixmaster Mike tee shirt from that night!
The hours of rehearsal it takes to do something like this is comparable to a broadway production. Every lead mic change is so precise and it's changing between 3 people. So fucking hard to do. Not to mention their breath control. Make no mistake, they were immaculately talented.
Recorded this off of MuchMusic back in the day. Watched it constantly. If there's a band I wish I could go back in time and see, the Beasties are near the top of the list. Incredible energy. RIP MCA

Their energy is so intense, they don't miss a beat! They have so many awesome songs they have to smash a bunch together in that open, and its only 1999 so there's many more songs yet to be created! also I can listen to mix master mike all day, he's awesome!! wish people still scratched. rap is lame now.
Heidi...I almost envy you. I have to admit I only listened to them to scare my parents (as a revolt!). Then I liked them for themselves! Their music was The Beach Boys.
Beastie Boys always stood out from everyone else, they had a thing for strange matching outfits and uniforms and always had some weird ass technology and varied instruments on stage, and ofc Mix Master Mike holding shit down in the back
I'm pretty sure this was live on MTV2 back in 1999??, I remember watching it, absolutely bluen away by the energy, the crowd were SO into the Beasties, it led to an amazing show, people forget how unique the Beasties were, they could pretty much do it ALL, and a big shout out to mix master Mike : Legend!.
Seen them on the Ill Communication tour, didn't go to this one because I thought they'd never bring the atmosphere they had in the Barrowlands to an arena. Yeahhhhhh not my best decision.
yep it sure was..MUSICIANS, DANCING. The Beasties started as a punk band as we know and incorporated the whole irrevency into rap when the genre was being formed. I saw live in Philadelphia in the 1980s everyone from the Butthole Surfers, Bad Brains, Spoonie G, New Order, The Cure, Rick James, Teena Marie, Prince, U2 , Earth Wind, Fire, Tito Puente, Whitney, Luther and violence was not an issue, mosh pits, stage diving at some shows, yes, fights, hardly none, I didn't worry much about getting jacked in the parking lot and people danced, it was a totally different culture ( not to say that shit didn't happen but the air was not tense in the 80s). We danced to music that you could understand the words to, no one listened to repetitive insipid juvenile demonic mumble rap, pop or rock.....wasn't away
This disrespect to women has got to be due! Rolemodels deluxe my dear friends! Dang what bunch of groundbreaking, godforseeking and beyond brilliant and lovable crew! Respect only!
I was at this gig and it blew the doors off. The stage started spinning later in the the gig and it was incredible. Sabotage was absolute chaos the crowd went mental. I grabbed the MP3 off youtube a while back and still listen to it regularly. I actually visited Adam Yauch park in Brooklyn heights yesterday, named for the spot MCA spent some of his childhood and learned to ride a bike!
I was at the MSG show in the spring of '95 when they were riding high on the Ill Communication tour. It was ten years after they got booed off the same stage by teeny boppers when they were opening for Madonna during her '85 "Like a Virgin" tour. The energy during the show was so insane. They came out with a vengeance and dominated their hometown from start to finish. It was the absolute pinnacle of their career in my opinion. This recording comes very close to capturing that feeling - great editing and direction!

Nobody is ever going to a better gig than that!
that is a special memory, that was an awesome show you saw. I wore out my Licensed to Ill cassette back in the day.
You are a Lucky man
@@ivanalejandrovillavallin8013Seconded. Young stupid me should have gone!!!
Just simply the dopest stage entrance ever.

I miss Beastie Boys' sound. Thanx for this.
I was there. Still the best gig I have ever been to. It was incredible. The SECC was a fantastic venue and that rotating stage was genius. 👏

Immensely jealous, wasn’t a big BB fan at the time😞would give my right bollock now to have been there...at that FUCKIN SECC
Sure it was the stage that was rotating 🤣 fkn place was rockin
They ran the rotating stage everywhere they could. Saw them in Philly on this tour and this show was very similar (and just as incredible!)

Epic show and short because they spend full energies 👍💪
Seen them on the Ill Communication tour, didn't go to this one because I thought they'd never bring the atmosphere they had in the Barrowlands to an arena.
Yeahhhhhh not my best decision.
🤦🏾♂️
I don't know if it's just me but audience crowds were so much more fun 20+ years ago. Long live Beastie Boys

Wish i was there :( Best punk hip hop band EVER.
Rock Creek Park during Flute Loop is the slickest thing Mix Master Mike ever threw at the Boys.
My God real hip hop with real beats n real lyrics... F them auto tuned mumble rappers with a 50 word vocabulary
Was just thinking the same thing.Don’t make them like this anymore.Legends
They were amazing from the first time I heard them. I've never seen this video since I was busy with my 2yr old! What talent!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It’s good to see there’s no phones
Never saw them live. Had the chance when I was 22 and blew it! (I didn't know MCA would die before I got another chance.)
But they have been my favorite band since college (freshman at Hendrix in 1988, grad class 1992).
There's a lesson to be learned, never waste any chance to a band you like
Thank god IPhone didn’t exist that era… the energy just lit
