I haven’t researched much for Greece but had come across Milos. Thought it would be a great place to relax and take it easy for a few days at the beginning or end of a trip and this video shows I was correct! Just lovely.
When I hear name Milos, it comes immediately in my mind Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love. The famous sculpture of that goddess was found, here at Milos and known as ‘Venus from Milo’ is on exhibition in Louvre Museum, in Paris. Have you noticed any association with this iconic sculpture in modern Milos?😉
The place where Venus was found is near their final village, Klima. There are signs on the road, and it is usually indicated in the free local printed guide of the island. Every local knows it and can give you instructions. I regret that no history is shown or mentioned in this otherwise wonderful video. Yet, Milos has an incredible concentration of history. Apart from this Hellenistic masterpiece, Milos is famous for (i) its commerce of razor-sharp tools made of obsidian and dating before 10000 BC, (ii) its Bronze Age settlement of Phylakopi (seen briefly in the background of this video near Papafragas beach; the beautiful Lady of Phylakopi from the 14th century BC can be seen in the Archaeological Museum of the island), (iii) Dorian settlement remains of around 1000 BC, (iv) its distinct Archaic Greek alphabet from the 6th century BC, (v) its classical statue of Poseidon (today in the Archaeological Museum of Athens), (vi) the Siege of Milos inspiring Eurepides’ Trojan Women and a Modern Greek poem by Giannis Ritsos (vii) a fortified Roman settlement and its theatre (of course!) still standing, (viii) paleo-Christian catacombs, all cornerstones of civilization. Ohhhhhhh you missed tons of better places than papafragas in Milos.. (kleftiko, sarakiniko, palaiohori, tsigrado, glaronisia, and many other beaches there!) These are the must-go places on the island! you need to go again! and ask the Greek locals next time!!
If you can get a four cheese pizza in a restaurant along with many other type of foods in Greece you know you are in a tourist trap! Then you will miss out of one of the best foods in the world
Guys, if you are still in Greece, I m challenging you to visit Crete. For some unique beaches like Mpalos, elafonisos, for hiking up high mountains , for crossing (7-8hours) the amazing Samaria Gorge.And for unique recipes of food, which are even different from the classic Greek food

Up on the mountains and the plains and along the beautiful beaches. Crete have very diverted cultures depending on where you are. Even the food is different from place to place. I love Crete so much. But in few weeks I'm going for Karpathos which I've never had been before. Looking forward. Been to Thassos, Kos, Rhodos, Corfu, Kefalonia, Santorini, Peloppones and mainland of Greece almost everywhere. But Crete will still be my favourite.I love your Chanel, Jumping Places. It's hard to beat Greece in the Summer, would love to go back again, especially the islands. You should try the Gyros. that was just about all I ate when I was in Greece, they were so good. Instead of $40.00 for lunch it would just be $4.00 for the Gyros.
Milos is VERY touristy, it's the new "up and coming island" of the Cyclades. But the difference with Santorini is that it is touristy only in the summer months, because the main attraction of the island are the beaches (Sarakiniko, Firiplaka, Tsingrado, Provatas, Firopotamos etc etc), while in Santorini the main attraction is the island itself. If you were in Milos in July, you'll see a very different scene and pay a very different price!!
You can visit PAROS ISLAND its near and the island its very beatiful i think its better than MILOS and there are a lot places for perfect camera shoots

Nice small island but beautiful as Santorini with less crowd that you get to relax more. The island of Milos (goddess Venus the Milo) is very much a volcanic island thus you see blue crystal water, beaches and volcanic landscapes. Water is blue from the many mineral deposits. There is a dormant volcano in the island. I noticed Chris is now eating meat but Carole remained a vegetarian because in the Phil. both never ate or prepared meat but only vegetables or maybe I’m wrong 🤔. By the way, that’s where the movie ABBA’s Mama Mia was filmed
Mama Mia filmed on Milos? Noooo, you have to go to Skopelos, one of the Sporades islands. There Mama Mia was filmed. The sequel was not even filmed in Greece but in Croatia on Vis island.
Now, Milos is more my vibe! i prefer to be in the water and walking on the beach rather than on cliffs looking over it- and being from Southern Ca,I love my wheels! I DO love Santorini- and a lot more fun stuff going on there for you guys - but just too crowded and expensive for me.I would stop and visit and then move on.I loved the deserted beaches and swimming under the rock formations and the charming row of old fishing houses of Milos. You are there at such a PERFECT time.In July and August ALL of these islands are packed with tourists.BTW there are ferries that are much faster and more modern than the one you took- but don't know about routes and schedules.Maybe more running in summer? I did like your ferry ride,though.It gave you a chance see a lot+

The faster ferries are more expensive. Traveling in the Aegean is very pleasant so you don't have to rush. There are many choices.
