One of the best islands is Nyssiros! I love Greece! I learned Greek just because I love the country so much. I am Bulgarian and I go to Greece at least 5 times a year for at least one or two weeks each time. Enjoy your time there!

Volcanic islands presents a very different vibe or spirituality if you will. The Greek Islands are so awesome! 😊
Palaiokastro in Greek means: Old Fortress. Kastro means Castle/Fortress and Palaio means Old. Actually you can see that the word Castle comes from Latin Castrum and the Greek Kastro also came from the Latin world. The pure Ancient Greek world is Acropolis for the Citadel and Ochyro for the Fortress.

Whenever in Greece hear a prophet Elias church up on a mountain or a hill, is 99% sure that there was an antic temple of Helios(sun) where the god of sun was Apollon. When the Christian religion became dominant in Greece and Asia Minor , almost all the old temples of Apollo replaced by Christian temples of Prophet Elias.HELIOS,ELIAS , are two very similar words when you hear them.Cheers guys.

When you go to Açores you can visit the interior of a lava tube and in faial you also can be inside of a volcano that get erupted in the 1950´s.

An interesting vlog with beautiful scenery. The island between Nisyros and Kos is called Yali Island. Yali is where pumice is mined / excavated and exported to various destinations including USA, U.K. and Germany. The loading appliance at Yali is capable of loading vessels of up to 35,000 mt. Pumice is used in the building trade and in horticulture too.
Wonderful volcano tour, one in a lifetime experience, I did it many years ago and still remember it.

The fact you didn't see many people in Nikia is probably because you were there during the so-called "quiet hours". The Siesta time when most locals stay inside due to the heat and take a nap. On some small islands you still find signs "Respect the quiet hours" as a reminder to not make unnecessary and loud noise. The "quiet hours" is mainly between 2 and 5 in the afternoon and 11/12 to 5/6 at night.
We were there around 7 pm, i think its just very quiet in general

Beautifulllllllllllll !!!!! Do you need a motocycle licence to rent a scooter in Greece? That was what they told me when I tried to rent one in Santorini last year.
Think it depends on the island and also the scooter, Carol doesn't have one but the guy said the scooter was below 125cc i think so it was ok

Did you had "Soumada" (a non-alcoholic, syrupy, almond-based beverage) or "Pitthies" ? (a local verion of falafel ) Both super tasty local specialties. Nisyros is a very unique Island, most of it's residents migrated to America in the 60's.
Very nice idea to get into the crater and hear these wonderful noises ,it’s like hearing live the Hell😂😂😂.

You didn't see anything vulcanic in Milos? Paleochori has a great big beach and some hot water spring bubbling out on one side, multicoloured rocks like here (heamatite/limonite, sulphur, obsidian...The mining museum on Milos is a great place to see and understand the geology. There are a few hot springs of Milos, but not widely known cause they are not commercially exploited. I think there's a hot spring cave in Adamantas but seen as hot springs are not really my thing I'm not sure where that is exactly...There are some hot springs allover Greece, really, Methana, Loutraki, Edipsos, even Vouliagmeni lake in Athens. Ikaria even has radioactive ones (i.e. hot in both senses of the word!! 😛)
Yeah not really in the places that we visited, although we did go to one beach that had the interesting multi colored cliffs which i guess was because of volcanic reasons. Had no idea that they had hot springs there
@@JumpingPlaces Milos has in fact all stone colors you can imagine. And there are also mines there that are entirely unknown to the public, and are full with rainbow colors of soil. Its incredible.
There is a video from the channel "amazing places around Greece 4k" with one of the videos being on Santorini, Milos, Naxos, Syros. The entire video is wonderful also with multiple areas of Milos you havent visited, but on the end part of the video you can see multiple shots of these mines. Its best viewed on a big screen to see all these colors.
So yes. Milos is a pure geological paradise. And many more secrets like basalt islets literally 500m away of the coast of Milos.

@@JumpingPlaces Milos is the kind of island where it's worth doing a full boat tour round the island on day one to get a feel for the place, to go to places inaccessible by land and to see where you will go yourself later. The Milos boat tours are great and they have great food, (in a couple of those we chargrilled fresh fish in a cave). The thing to look out for with these boat tours is to avoid the really big boats, because they cannot get too close to the shore. You don't want a tiny one either but there are a few nice options, like with small catamarans or a traditional timber ship.
