I love that walk from Thorfinn at the end, he looks SO much like his dad there. Incredible episode
I want to point out how before saying "anger begets more anger," he punched Einar to stop him. This is one of the first times we've seen Thorfinn hit someone not in anger, but in genuine effort to prevent more violence. It is different from when he punched that farm hand, which was purely out of anger.
That last line from Thorfin is so hard! ‘Canute only brought 100 I should make it back alive’ in other words ‘100 men can’t stop me’

RIP Arnheid😢 this episode is 💔 She lost everything. She didn't last long enough to hear how Einar loves her.
I love how Einar's love is contrasted with Ketil's "discrimination" - once Einar learns she has a husband, he fully intends to help her escape with her husband - his love is not possessive (unlike certain someone's) and it echoes the show's view on love really well.
@@loquens5060 im not disagreeing with you necessarily, but einar shows discriminatory love. its unconditional unlike ketil ya, but einar was ready to kill ketil after she died. he would discriminate against others for her sake. thorfinns now, or thors is more so the embodiment of what the priest meant when he was talking about non-discriminatory love

@@loquens5060 I'm not sure whatever Ketil had for Arnheid can be described as love. I saw it more like a coping mechanism for weak/loser man who is losing control over everything (father, sons, wife and in the end his farm) so to feel strong he exercises his authority where he can. Basically it's your typical example of toxic masculinity (the actual meaning not whatever pseudo feminists think it is).
You are the only one that knew the Canute words from the first season. Other people didn't understand that part!
The death of Arnheid kind of made the motivation of making Vinland, as a peaceful country without war more heart-breaking, yet somehow impactful. She was such a beautiful character, bringing the beacon of joy to this relatively grim season, even if it was for a short time. So, her death was one of the most emotional moments I have experienced in this series, if not so, one of the most emotional moments I have seen in anime. This moment was so poignant that it reminded of my emotions that I felt after watching the movie Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms.
The music of the Arnheid's death scene moved me so much that I decided to look for the entire show's OST. And then realized that that song when she dies is called "Destination". Her destination is death, how tragic. But yet again, we could interpret that as her destination is "home", where Gardar and the kids are, just like how she welcomed him home when he passed away.

I’ve seen this season more times than I can count but the same scenes always hit me in the emotional feels. This episode crushes my heart.
I remember watching this episode when it dropped , i was sobbing , and i don't usually get too emotional on anime but vinland had this impact on me that no other anime can match

The episode I couln't stop crying... Arnheid's death is a turning point for everyone. The way Thorfinn says Vinland is a place of peace. This show really hits.

What made me cry the most this episode wasn't Arnheid dying since it seemed likely given her injuries. It was Einar pleading for her to live, it was Einar weeping, and it was Thorfinn comforting an enraged Einar because he knew the pain that awaited Einar should he go down that path of revenge.
I’ve read this comment somewhere and can’t remember exactly but along the lines. For Arnheid to keep living ,what would she lived for. She lost both her children’s , her husband. And her home. She suffered so much in living that there was no reason for her anymore because living was only causing her to suffer even more. It would’ve been selfish to ask her to live knowing that the only things await her is endless pain.
Damn it's this episode 😭😭😭 two key things that touched me in this episode The death of our queen Arnheid and also tht farmer telling Ketel to his face that he's finished, also Thorfinn remembering about Vinland
Glad I get to rewatch this show along side you and cry at each episode for a second time.

Arnheid suffered her whole life. One slave out of millions, I think Vinland captured that suffering perfectly and the severity it has to thorfinn. Arnheid is another persons suffering he feels he has to carry

4:54 Canutes main tool in his tool box right now is war and killing. Thats all he has been doing lately. He also feels really comfortable with killing and war, this whole thing of stealing Ketils farm was his idea. As you have finished season you also know that he changed only after meeting Thorfinn here.

Not as painful as expected from Alana(compared to episode 17), but she definitely appreciated the beauty of the writing, which is all that matters to me.

idk if you remember but canute doesn’t follow the norse gods, he’s converted to christianity which is probably why he’s not as violent as others unless with war and death he needs to since he is a king

Probably why Peakland Saga and Painland saga are used interchangeably haha. Arnheid is probably one of, if not my favorite characters from season 2. Her story is just so well done but also so tragic.
