in shambles at this finale LMFAOO what an amazing show!! and thank you all for watching with me, whether you watched on here or on patreon :') it's definitely become one of my favorites
I don't recall HOW I found your channel, but I have to say I really appreciate the way in which you analyzed this series and what you took away from a story as complex as this. It deals with a lot of larger issues (systemic oppression/slavery/misogyny/might makes right/etc..) and the human toll/cost it that's paid to perpetuate these systems. I don't just mean the victims of the system, EVERYONE has to pay something to maintain it. With this in mind, it does a great job humanizing everyone - and it really does help the viewer/reader break out of the perception that people are either good or bad and that's what drives a persons' actions. People's circumstances, material conditions, are what drive them - without understanding one another, it's easy to cast people aside. If you didn't know, the mangaka of this series is a self proclaimed pacifist. That's one of the major foundational principles that drives the whole series. He also takes extended breaks to do historical research to ensure the story he's telling is close to reality. I truly love how he writes these characters and their stories. I can speak for myself only (obviously) but it truly feels like your own journey is tied to Thorfinn's. Through out the whole series you empathize/sympathize with Thorfinn and what's driving his action - which in turn makes you question your own. I can honestly say that with reading/watching this, it's helped me firm up my own perspective on life. I feel like this story explains such complex things (that we still deal with to this day) in such a beautiful way that I hope enough people will take the time to digest and analyze this. The true treasure of this story is the realization you reach within yourself when you begin to understand WHY people do the things they do. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. The next season gets even better - there are new characters you will meet that will continue to stir up complex feelings. I'm looking forward to your future videos/analysis.
Just to clear up any little bit of confusion about the very end at 12:26. It's showing Thors, Leif, and Askeladd the moment they began their respective journeys. That's why it showed Thorfinn's mom with his sister as baby. It was the Moment Thors fled with them from the vikings. Tying into the very last moments, which is Thorfinn walking out to set sail for his true quest for Vinland. So, basically PEAK FICTION
I left my hometown in Mexico when I was 14 and came back when I was 26 and after serving 3 tours in the middle east, nobody remembered me and I didn't know what to do the whole 2 weeks I was there ... Never in my life have I thought I could relate so much to a character.
Big shoutout to Shuuhei Yabuta as well. Without him and his team, we would not have gotten an adaptation as good as we did. This anime is essentially a passion project for them
Manga's still ongoing but is in it's final stretch. All-together, there should be enough manga for this to be about the half-way point of the anime. Another 2 full seasons should just about do it, and hopefully we'll be getting them.
one small change I really appreciate from the show is that after Ylva accepts Thorfinn is back , she cuts his hair like it used to look when he was young, whereas the show implies that he chose to look like that. I like it because it shows the growth Thorfinn has been through and that he is returning to how he was before: kind.
Honestly this was like a perfect season of storytelling. I have cried watching the finale on my own and I have cried each time I watch a reaction to the episode, and I cried again here. I can't wait for the next season. 2023 was a fantastic year for storytelling via anime.
Hello, I'm from Brazil and I've been following your journey watching this beautiful work, and I'm glad I was moved and enjoyed all this together with you! Thank you for the wonderful work and emotions throughout this time. Good luck on your journey and be very happy
Crying again watching this with you. The first season had me incredibly invested and how it culminated had me shook. Season 2 was some of the best character writing I've seen, and had me in tears constantly especially in the latter half.
When season 3 comes out I'll watch it right away so I can look forward to reliving it in your reaction vids! They really are a big highlight for me. This is such a great series and so glad we get to share it together ❤️
Ahh, we’ve finally finished this long journey of a show. It’s been awesome watching these Vinland Saga reactions Alana. Vinland Saga means so much to a lot of people so I’m really happy you’ve loved these 2 Seasons. On to the next season 🌊
The VA for Thorfinn did an amazing job in that scene with his mom. The cry really made me feel how much Thorfinn missed his mother and how much regret putting her through the years of paint that he did.
13:50 I relate so much. I've never wanted to actually own a physical manga until Vinland saga. Haven't got it yet😅 but this year will definitely get at least one book, Vinland saga is just way too precious! Btw Alana you have a beautiful smile✌️
Thanks for giving this show a chance, Alana. I always knew you would love it! You will watch many other great shows in time, but I'm sure it will be a long time before something will leave such a deep impression on you again. The only other shows that have affected me this strongly have been Hibike Euphonium and Ping Pong the Animation. But Vinland Saga may be the only show to have such consistent greatness to it.
I really enjoyed watching your reactions to the first and second seasons of Vinland Saga, #AlanaMisako, and I'm really looking forward to seeing your reactions to Frieren. I'm still continuously supporting you because I really enjoy watching your reactions, and also because your anime content is absolutely amazing.
I'm going to miss your reactions to this amazing show. You have such a good heart and watching you experience this was like experiencing it for the first time all over again. I look forward to what comes next!
man, when you said "i want thorfinns journey in my hands" got me wanting to buy every volume of my favorite mangas and dedicate a special storage room just for them which ive never considered as an anime&manga fan
Farmland Saga really is some of the absolute best manga and now anime ever. It's just so, so good. I love how you were shocked by Thorfinn's look when he shaved and cut his hair. He's still *really* young, don't forget!
you gotta admire that Thorfinn made hsi own journey towards believing the same ideals as his dad. It's not like the second Askeladd died, he was like ''oh my dad preached pacifism, so I really should follow his lead.'' No, Thorfinn went through being a monster, then slavery, ptsd from killing, seeing the hardships of others, wishing he could save them. His dad trading 8 sheep to save a slave, really showed him that such a path exists in life, but his journey there was his own thing to do. And to see Thorfinn lose so much, learn from it, and eventually full embrace the pacifism his dad preached, is very powerful.
I thought S2E23 was the finale 😵 this is me realizing I never saw the finale OMFG HOW ??!! what a treat tho honestly to get a "new" epi of Vinland Saga
Thanks Alana When I first watched Vinland saga Saison 2, I thought it a good show but I felt frustrated because I was waiting for more Thorfin fights, he's even been beaten by his sister 😊. I am glad I watched your reactions, you have showed me how emotional this Saison 2 was. Thanks for showing me how great is this show.
Damn my favorite reaction series is over i'm super sad .... You became my favorite reaction channel with this series i spent a lot watching you ❤️ i hope you choose another good show to watch i'll be here .
When Vinland Saga gets adapted to where we are in the manga so far, will become one of those not just anime, but one of those shows that you should watch before you die. It's such an amazing story. ❤
I'm very happy that you liked my most favorite anime. Thank you. I really hope that season 3 will be produced. I can wait for years. Season 1 is all a prologue to this story. However, to be precise, season 2 was also nothing more than Thorfinn’s back story. I can't believe it. What a long, epic, wonderful prologue! Thorfinn's true life, battle and journey finally begins here.
I'm excited of your reaction to season 3, season 1 is Thorfinn's descent to the path of revenge, season 2 is Thorfinn's redemption and season 3 will be Thorfinn's trial.
after that whole seen of thorfinn taking those punches, and saying “i have no enemies”, i thought it was the type of scenario that prophets were made from.
This definitely was a satisfying epilogue to a great season. And nothing is more satisfying than watching those tears stream down uncontrollably, muahaha 😈😈😈
I read it on reddit once. based on the original saga of jomsviking, canute and thorfinn mom is cousin, which mean canute is thorfinn uncle. And thats how the mangaka make these two look related
Its mostly just for comedic purposes but considering Thors was a freak of a man, it makes so much sense how Ylva is so absurdly strong. She really took her father's genes
Thorfinn looking like Canute makes sense since they are related. Remember that Thorkell is Thorfinns' great uncle. And historically Thorkell's sister was married to king Sweyn, Canute's father. I think that makes them... First cousins once removed?
I believe it's actually Thorkell's sister in law, Sigvaldi's wife (Helga's mum) who was sisters with Sweyn's wife. That would make Helga Canute's first cousin and Thorfinn his second cousin/cousin once removed.
what a playlist you have, vinland s2 and frieren right after? sick. i love this ip ever since i watched s1 on 2020 and binged its manga. but i think i love frieren more. me choosing whether frieren or vinland saga s2 was my aoty last year(frieren is still ongoing but i counted cour1).. was one of the best problems ive ever had. (not that anybody cares but personally i choose frieren because i love how it treats the mundane like no story ive ever experienced, and vinland s2 needed a whole s1 for setup.)
I mean can you blame the sister? EVERYONE would assume Thorfin's dead. Leif was crazy for believing that Thorfin's alive and never lost hope, kept searching for years and years until he actually saw him as a teenager during season 1. Leif LITERARY never gave up when he had 0 proof if the boy who went missing is still even alive or not. He's the BEST uncle.
Just a few episodes ago, Thorfinn took literally 100 punches from grown men and stayed conscious. And all it took was one swing from Big Sis to lay him out. 🤣
another thing you could do is manga reactions or reviews, if you do end up starting the manga of course. i think most vinland saga fans would watch that
in shambles at this finale LMFAOO what an amazing show!! and thank you all for watching with me, whether you watched on here or on patreon :') it's definitely become one of my favorites
I simply love you, season 3 is about to be announced and it is going to be the best of the 3. thank you for this beautiful journey.
You're going to love Frieren so much I feel

Thorfinn and his mom’s reunion literally had me crying like a baby bro. It was so sweet. 🥹
Same :/
I did, it gets more sad when your mom is not around anymore, seeing that scene makes you missed your parents a lot
bug eyes fucked that moment up lmao
I feel you man, every day I wish I could talk to my parents. Just makes me appreciate the family i still have!@@faizalamirbashiira4565
the fact she instantly recognized and sees Thors in him:( so glad she didnt meet the younger Thorfinn full of rage in his eyes,

Damn what a goat can’t imagine that feeling bro
I hope you're doing well
@@cokecan6169 this comment had a little kick in it!!
Fuck that must’ve felt so lonely. What’d you do afterwards if you don’t mind me asking.
@@_all_around_us We are good, currently stationed in Italy hoping everything happening doesn't escalate to the worst
Big shoutout to Shuuhei Yabuta as well. Without him and his team, we would not have gotten an adaptation as good as we did. This anime is essentially a passion project for them
Those flashbacks of everyone means that those moments were when everyone begins their journey 😊 and now it’s the beginning of Thorfinn
I love how the mood and tone of the series always reflects thorfinns state of mind

Maybe 3 seasons, if they plan to include the omitted travel to Constantinople
@@kaleid1014 God that would be so fucking cool. Imagine they get Makoto Yukimura on board and fill in a great anime only arc.

Underated comment
The bromance in this show is one of the few truly great portrayals of friendship in fiction I've witnessed, love my boy Einar.

It's been such a pleasure sailing on this voyage with you Alana, can't wait for season 3!
this episode was so nice
Thorfinn returning to his hometown and seeing his mother after so long was such a payoff, I adore this series.

excited to your reaction who won on the anime of the year at the crunchyroll anime awards lol
Congratulations on finishing Vinland❤️❤️

I think that makes them... First cousins once removed?
That isn't close enough of a genetic match to make 2 people look similar
I believe it's actually Thorkell's sister in law, Sigvaldi's wife (Helga's mum) who was sisters with Sweyn's wife. That would make Helga Canute's first cousin and Thorfinn his second cousin/cousin once removed.

What a journey has been, Vinland is a masterpiece.
Now, Frieren is coming next, are we gonna cry everytime Himmel is on screen? lol
It is so hilarious for me when Bugeyes interupt and calling for Ma 😂😂 my kind of jokes 😂

yayyy we will be watching frieren
Thorfinn and Canute both have a scar in the one side of their faces. Because they follow different paths
Nice reactions
Leif is underrated here. he promised that he will bring Thorfinn back home and it took so many years, and he finally fulfilled it.
つられて私も泣きました😂
また感動しました。ありがとう✨
How long the gaps are between seasons, might as well read the manga. I’ve been reading it before it started to get animated. Fantastic read!
Thorfinn's journey to Vinland begins. For those interested in reading the manga, start with chapter 101.
Never have I clicked a video so fast
Easily became my favourite anime of all time.
Season 3 was confirmed by the chief animation director. The release date is unknown, but it’ll most likely come in 2025.
Though it maybe a little longer. S1 came out in 2019, S2 in 2023. Mappa also busy with Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen.
Its ok Alana don't cry...
His beard will grow back
I'm so hyped for season3. Please give me season3😫. Its gonna be so much fun, sad, hype!!
I think it is safe to say
Vinland Saga S2 didn't get anime of the year was crazy
What did?
If you mean Crunchyroll awards, they haven't even had the results out yet for that with the award show. lol IGN had Vinland Saga S2 as their AOTY.
Just a few episodes ago, Thorfinn took literally 100 punches from grown men and stayed conscious.
And all it took was one swing from Big Sis to lay him out. 🤣
I Like Your reaction. so beautiful and emotional!
steins gate next
Frieren is next
See you in season 3😊
THANKS U ❤
finaly.☺️☺️
have a nice day!
😘
Thorfinn took 100 punches from a seasoned Jomsviking warrior still standing, but got knocked out in 1 hit from his sister. That’s crazy.
another thing you could do is manga reactions or reviews, if you do end up starting the manga of course. i think most vinland saga fans would watch that
