in the discussion of favorite characters... Einar. Einar has to be one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite. he interacts in so many interesting ways with every other character in this show, and it enriches the story so much. I mean, first there's everything about how he relates to Thorfinn. in the beginning of the season, Einar maintains a higher standard for decency than Thorfinn even knows should be the case. it's important, because this is how Einar carries the things that his loved ones taught him, even now that they're gone. but that also makes him angrier at their situation than Thorfinn even knows how to feel at that point in time. but eventually, this is how Thorfinn finds that he can help Einar in return... by sharing what he knows about the nature of violence, and preventing Einar from becoming a victim or a perpetrator of it. but then there's also the way Einar relates to Arnheid... Einar lost his family in very similar ways to how she lost hers. Einar lost his father to war, and his mother and sister to an attack on their village. it's just like the way that Arnheid lost Gardar and Hjalti. and when Gardar shows up again, and Einar learns that he's her husband, he doesn't hesitate. he understands that he's witnessing something amazing... she probably thought that Gardar was dead. but now this piece of her old life has returned to her, in a way that she probably never thought was possible. whatever he's felt for her all this time is solely channeled into helping her get what she wants at this point... there's no hesitation. and that level of empathy is something that Einar can do, while Ketil clearly can't. according to Sverkel, Ketil has also lost a partner before. he was in love with a girl who was coveted by another man, and they gave her up, in order to protect their village. she ended up dying for that decision, and Ketil clearly never let go of that sense of insecurity, which he's felt from then on. now here's Arnheid, who has the chance to get her spouse back in a way she never thought possible... and all Ketil can see Arnheid as, is his own possession. not a relatable person who has suffered from a similar loss. just something else that might be taken away from Ketil. Einar never hesitated. he was ready to try and fight Snake and his men as soon as he'd sized up the situation... because he's always been focused on whether or not she could be free. the best thing about Einar is that he's a regular, normal, average farm guy, with regular, normal, average knowledge and experiences... but the place where he stands out most, is what he chooses to do. every time, he chooses to be decent. every time, he chooses to be kind. he was so angry at Thorfinn being a former soldier, that he contemplated killing him in his sleep. but not only was he unable to do it... he was honestly more angry that Thorfinn thought there was nothing good left in the world for him to live for. that's what he ended up yelling at him about. Einar's job isn't to become a monster... it's to keep being the person they loved when they knew him, even after they're gone. he has to maintain himself, because it's important for him to stay this way. someone rock solid, dependable, and secure. others will need him to be this in the future too... it's what Thorfinn needed him to be when they met. and Thorfinn can help him, by carrying his burdens with him. neither of them has to do this alone. if Thorfinn's character is about falling into the cycle of violence, and then learning to escape it, then Einar's character is about the cycle of kindness, and learning to maintain it, so that it can benefit others and bring them to a better place in the world.

also, I cannot overstate how much I was like... pointing at the screen the first time I watched this, when that one guy confronts Ketil about his hypocrisy. it's like the show was saying what I was thinking. I love it when Vinland Saga is already in lockstep with me when I'm formulating my thoughts about it, and actually says the thing! "do you understand what it's like to be poor like us now? no matter how unfair it may be, you shouldn't defy the king. it's the same reason we've always listened to you! might makes right, Ketil. the world exists for people stronger than you." it's more than just "you reap what you sow" it's "empathize with me" to the highest degree. be where I am, and see my perspective. this is the way I've looked at you for so long. if you're not enjoying your time down below, then you should examine what you did while you were higher than any of us. live the way we've had to, and we will finally be equal. Canute offered Ketil's family the opportunity to retreat. leave the country... give up everything they have, but still live. they were offered harder lives than they were used to, and they couldn't see it as an opportunity. it reminds me of the first episode, when Einar loses his mother and sister, is taken across the ocean on a slave boat, tries to escape but gets captured again, is forced to confront that this is the state of his life now, and when he first arrives on the farm he thinks "hey, mom. was that really true? you still think I haven't lost?" and looking at what Einar has experienced since then... yes, it was true. Einar still has things to live for, and reasons to continue, regardless of how far he's fallen. as long as you're alive, you haven't really lost. Ketil is so focused on the maintenance of where he is in the world, that any less feels like an injustice. but he's perfectly fine ignoring the injustices he's done to others... to Arnheid. but now, he can't ignore it anymore. the things he's built have attracted the attention of someone even more powerful, looking to maintain his place in the world. and Canute has similar blood on his own hands. he's trying to maintain his place atop an even larger hierarchy, and he's been committing even more heinous crimes. it's not what he set out to do in the first place... can he even do what he set out to do in the first place? all of this violence, and for what? is this Utopia? who is it for?
Einar…😭 I am very happy that the snake survived. Thorfinn is growing into a wonderful man. Next time you will see how great a man he has become. Everything in the prologue connects to the great episode. Anyway, It's so funny to see your sometimes really painful reactions.🤣
IMDB ratings are not the justification for Vinland Saga. Anime community is mostly filled with kids and many kids hated it because there was not enough action. But I think there were multiple episodes of this season which were close to 10 or a straight 10 only if people are mature enough to understand. For me personally as a show Vinland Saga should be highest rated anime ever. It is like the top 2 things I have ever witnessed on screen.
Imo IMDB ratings for the second season 2 were fair. The most impactful episodes like this one, episode 9, episode 17, episode 23, etc., all had very high ratings. The rest have good to very good ratings except two or three that were in the 7.8 - 8.3 range, which is understandable as those episodes are decent and enjoyable but not as much happens and the plot's pace slows down; also some filler in those episodes. Overall, though, the series had very good IMDB ratings.
and yeah... separate comment just to draw attention to how essential Thorfinn was in that moment, when Einar wanted to kill Ketil. that momentary anger would've given Einar so much to regret... that's not who Einar is as a person, that's not where his value lies. Thorfinn has benefited so much from the kind of person that Einar actually is. Einar chose not to kill Thorfinn in anger, and what he did instead has helped him so much that he's become a completely different person. to see someone who can do what Einar does, falling into anger and sadness at this loss, and then imagining him hurt even worse by this kind of regret... it's unbearable. and not only that... if Einar killed Ketil, then Olmar and Thorgil would both know him as the man who killed their father. I can't imagine anything more horrendous than Einar having to bear the weight of being characterized that way, and being faced with the full force of their hatred. in this moment, Thorfinn saves him in such a monumental way. and he's only in any fit state to do that, because Einar saved him first.
The blonde girl that was shown in the end of season 1 was not Arnheid. That is a character that will appear in season 3. The only character that was shown at the end of season 1 that is in season 2 is Einar. That's why they only showed his face back in the of season 1. The rest is still a mystery ( for the anime only community)
I'm very late to this, but if you have the Thorfinn Leif reunion prior to the Arnheid beating scene, the scene that would be stuck with you is the Arnheid beating. The breakup of these two emotional moments is to allow the viewer to take in both in their entirety without diminishing the impact of one over the other.
its so good they wrote it like that cause life is what life is sometimes things happen at times that are not fitting things happen and you have to deal with them such a moment is just a realistic and good moment i love that about vinland sage
Yukimura himself said that given the event that had just happened (Arnheid getting beat half to death), it would be odd for them to be in a jovial mood.
This really is a great time to rewatch the first 2 episodes and notice the parallels. I put a comment on the first episode reaction about this because it was then that I just watched this episode and couldn't keep myself from commenting.
I swear the end episode discussions are always entertaining because y’all discuss things no one discuss before from reactions. Like the Thorgil stab location and it’s affect on him and his influence in the future 😂

It's IMDB ratings will never be justified because anime community mostly is filled with kids and they were there to see the action. Vinland Saga for me is the best anime ever and probably the top 2-3 shows I have ever seen.
@@FoxTrotter Yeah ratings don't always reflect the quality of a show, especially now with the massive review bombings on IMDB for shows like Vinland and AoT that are happening.

Having met a dude who got his wrist slashed in a fight. Yeah it would take a miracle and a half for Thorgil to recover from that, but knowing anime bullshit magic, there's a solid chance he will recover from that. He quite literally lost all his tendons there and even modern science would struggle big time with the recovery, realistically Thorgil's right hand is F'd.
THATS HOW YOU KNOW ITS GOOD WRITING IN AN AMAZING STORY!!! Vinland is probably in my top 10 but not in my top 5, but it’s an amazing story that draws you in and makes ya feel like ya just got off an emotional roller coaster!! The writing n storytelling is what’s missing in A LOT of newer shows for me!! I think manga/anime has more soul n way better story then 95% of the stuff I’ve seen from Hollywood lately…and what they’ve done to superheroes in the comics is just depressing! Thankfully there’s manga! The ppl that make these amazing stories should b highly paid imo!! After LOTR:rings of power I’ve lost a lot of faith that the ppl making movies can even be trusted with the classic stories!! Then they made Batman into a murderer in that show on tv which was just kinda stupid n awful!! How can you make Batman into a killer?!! That’s his whole thing not killing!! 😤so I’m really glad I discovered manga/anime, I just wish I would’ve discovered it earlier!
@@shobhawati348 🤔 that’s hard there’s so many to choose from. But if I was just going on storytelling alone I’d have to go: 1-attack on Titan 2-HxH 3-scissors seven(idk how this one ends yet but something would have to go majorly wrong, it will probably always b in my top favorite list) 4-full metal 5-🤔🤔 I’d like to pick stories that I know the ending and the story has been completed or come to an end, which HxH isn’t done yet either but I still gotta put it on my list. I’ve not read the manga for Vinland so idk how it will go but I’ve heard good things about what’s to come tho so I have high hopes for it! I guess I’d have to leave my #5 open for stories that haven’t finished yet. If I’m going more on art/ animation n graphics along with a good/decent story I’d probably pick with no specific order: 1-one punch man 2-mob psycho 100 3-scissors seven 4-demon slayer 5-AOT 6-JJK 7-My hero(that guy is a master at drawing hands n it amazes me! Can’t leave him out of the animation/art list!) 8-chainsaw man 9-JoJo 10-🤔idk this one would b a free slot too. Berserk is a pretty crazy story with crazy graphics, goblin slayer, Tokyo revengers story has been pretty crazy too but idk it’s getting a bit repetitive so idk if I’d put it on a list. Bleach is good but way to much filler, one piece is always great but super long. Hells paradise had a pretty unique story n look to it, then I liked the way Beaststars looked n the story was interesting. It’s hard to pick between so many greats ones! It’s always awesome to see different styles n the way the studios animate them!! I’m really looking forward to the new season of one punch man! With what comes next in the manga I’m expecting the animation to be top notch n hope they do it justice!!🤞
@@voidcheque7019 it has had an amazing story thus far and great animation it’s definitely a contender and I understand why ppl love it! As long as the story stays as good as it’s been till then end it would b hard to leave it out of any top 5 list.
@pokemongoraidsluvhedgehogs2470 I genuinely believe we are witnessing something truly great and impactful here. Nothing has personally touched me in recent years, as much as Vinland Saga has. My god you guys already made it this far in the show. Me personally. This death was much harder than askeladds in my opinion. Askeladd was a better character, but seeing the death of such an innocent and loving person like Arnheid was just a fucking huge gut punch. Sobbed like a kid
Not trying to be a smartass or nothing but it just really bothers me how you pronounce "Leif" as "leaf" and i just want to help. It's pronounced like the word "Lay" but with an F in the end. Layf.
Sadly we almost got our channel taken down because we were showing too much! We wish we could show more! On the bright side our uncut reactions with the animation is on our patreon!
Thorfinn is completely wrong about his curse. He thinks that Einar killing Ketil will put him in the same curse. But that makes no sense based on his experience. Yes Thorfinn wanted to kill Askeladd for revenge but the main issue that he killed hundreds of innocent people, including women and children before Askeladd even died and he didn't even get to kill him either. In Einar's case, he only wants to kill Ketil for killing Arnheid, he's not going around killing hundreds of people to get to Ketil. That's Einar and Thorfinn's situations are completely different circumstances. I don't think the writer understands that it's apples and oranges.
It’s arguable but I think the point they wanted to deliver, like Thorfinn said, killing doesn’t quell your rage and the cycle of violence won’t end. If Einar ended up killing Ketil, he would be forever haunted by the past (the feeling of hate/rage or even regret). Killing is unforgivable so imagine how much of a burden one should bear if he killed people especially for someone like Einar who never kills somebody before. So it doesn’t necessarily mean Einar will have the same ‘curse’ but Thorfinn just doesn’t want Einar to have someone’s blood on his hands
@@dopehamin I understand that's what the message they want to deliver is, but I'm saying factually he did nothing like Einar is doing. First of all Thorfinn was 6 and immature when he was traumatized so he didn't even realize what he was getting into when he started killing. Einar is a fully grown man and clearly is a lot more mature and knowledgable about the world than Thorfinn was at 6. So their experience should be completely different. And since Thorfinn didn't kill Askeladd, he can't honestly tell Einar that the rage and cycle of violence won't end because, he doesn't actually know since he didn't kill Askeladd. And clearly the rage/hate did go away for Thorfinn, so it's another lie. First of how can he think that all killing is unforgivable in a kill or be killed world? I understand Thorfinn went through a lot but he only became a better person after becoming a murderer. But Einer killing Ketil for murdering Arnheid would not make him a murderer like Thorfinn most likely in the laws of that time, especially since he was already a free man.
@@creativevisiongaming Being a free man doesn't make murder not murder! He would be killing in rage not defense Arheid died because of Ketil but I doubt she would thank him for killing ketil Same as Thors wouldn't want Thorfin to kill to avenge his murder If he allowed him to try and kill ketil then snake would have stepped in... Thorgil wouldn't let him get away with that.. Killing Asklad wouldn't really have made him feel better In his heart he knew Thors wouldn't be proud of him he didn't want him to be like that
@@bluebell3720 I agree with your point about Snake and Thorgil but that's was not what Thorfinn said. You can't say killing Askeladd wouldn't make Thorfinn feel better because you don't really know if that is true or not, you and the writer are just making up a narrative based on your world view. Yes killing Askeladd would not have made him feel better at this point, because he already killed hundreds of innocent people for no reason, so he already became worse than Askeladd. If he only killed Askeladd it would be a completely different story. You don't know that Thors didn't want Thorfinn to ever kill anyone. He gave them that speech at 6 when Thorfinn literally didn't have any enemies at the time. I'm sure if Thors was alive and Thorfinn was an adult they would have a much more serious age appropriate talk about it. And Thors not wanting Thorfinn to kill is irrelevant for Einar. As for the word murder, let's look at the definition: the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another. First of all that wasn't premeditated but I'm going to just focus on the unlawful part. The laws at the time were probably made by Canute. Normally it probably would have been illegal for Einar to kill Ketil, but since Ketil's family is now guilty of treason and bound for a death sentence for fighting against Canute, Einar probably would have been rewarded by Canute, so it would not be considered murder by Canute's laws. It would be considered helping the king.
@@creativevisiongaming Canute clearly said he didn't want Ketil killed not pre meditated as in he had planned to go after him but he wouldn;t be killing in self defence it is pre meditated as he was making a choice to kill him it wasn't an accident or self defence I have no idea what would be considered law at the time but we know he had made death by duals un lawful Thorfin was talking about how it would effect Einar violence begets violence hate begets hate... it becomes a vicious cycle everyone feels entitled to harm or kill then the next person feels entitled to take revenge on that murder and so on

it's more than just "you reap what you sow" it's "empathize with me" to the highest degree. be where I am, and see my perspective. this is the way I've looked at you for so long. if you're not enjoying your time down below, then you should examine what you did while you were higher than any of us. live the way we've had to, and we will finally be equal.
I love your comment, you said it really perfectly 👏🏼
@@noona9193 thank you!! ^_^
When Thorfinn said that he was proud of ancestors for fleeing war, that hit pretty hard.
Einar…😭
I am very happy that the snake survived.
Behold! The next episodes will go down as the best episodes in the history of episodes.
Next one is episode 21 or are u talking about 22 because 22 is in 2 more episodes
@@Aiman640I’d assume both, because they watch in groups of 2

Happy birthday Carter! Glad I found your channel. I love rewatching animes with you all.
Thank you!
and yeah... separate comment just to draw attention to how essential Thorfinn was in that moment, when Einar wanted to kill Ketil. that momentary anger would've given Einar so much to regret... that's not who Einar is as a person, that's not where his value lies.
The breakup of these two emotional moments is to allow the viewer to take in both in their entirety without diminishing the impact of one over the other.
its so good they wrote it like that cause life is what life is sometimes things happen at times that are not fitting things happen and you have to deal with them
such a moment is just a realistic and good moment i love that about vinland sage
13:00 bro Cannon’s reaction to the eye poke 😭😭😭I haven’t laughed this hard all year bro
Yukimura himself said that given the event that had just happened (Arnheid getting beat half to death), it would be odd for them to be in a jovial mood.
Episode 43-44: of appreciating I have no enemies.
This really is a great time to rewatch the first 2 episodes and notice the parallels. I put a comment on the first episode reaction about this because it was then that I just watched this episode and couldn't keep myself from commenting.
22:40 Thogil used both hands during the fight with the King's soldiers in the capital, so yes, he can use his left hand.
The most disturbing scene will be shown with guy flying out and mckay just their smiling and laughing 😭😭😭😭😭, I love this dude😭
13:00 leaving this here for when i come back to rewatch this video.
Such a good reaction, my favorite channel so far, extra points for you guys, for not swearing, I noticed that in the videos ❤😎
I swear the end episode discussions are always entertaining because y’all discuss things no one discuss before from reactions. Like the Thorgil stab location and it’s affect on him and his influence in the future 😂
the best parts of the videos are you guys just talking hahah, it feels like you watching Vinland with the boys. About Thorgills stab though I think by the power of anime he will be okay, but his hand should be fucked in reality
Totally
Mappa troll this , in the manga he don’t take the blade like that
They already apologized after that because you’re right , it’s no way after being cut like that you can strat to mouv your hand again.

This season has been great to watch and your reactions are amazing to watch! Arnheid was such a tragic character and her story was really emotional 😢
I been checking the channel to see when they dropped Vinland, checked again the right time💥
if you think ep 1 to 20 of season 2 was great, the last four episodes raises the bar several notches
IM SO HYPED FOR ANOTHER EPISODES I NEED THEM NOW.
Happy birthday Carter.🎉
Vinland Saga is really a great show, not just anime it's a good story (so far season 1-2). I hope that season 3 is as good or even greater.
In manga, the story after season 2 is even more epic IMO
season 3 is a fun adventure. i hope we can get it sooner
Peakland saga!! Gotta give it to Einar voice actor in ep 20 he was so amazing 😭🧡
Don't worry guys.. They are give the best reunion in the season finale.. 💯✨
I finished season 2 today and I have to say, I cried a lot and felt pain in my chest at multiple scenes but felt very liberated near the end.

Thorfinn is a beautiful man
Having met a dude who got his wrist slashed in a fight.
Vinland Saga is still by far the anime of the year
This shit goes so hard it isnt even funny. I struggled with the start of this season but fuck man i loved it by the end
living for cannon's army cut! let's go! 🤪
What are your top 5
It's my number one piece of media full stop. I've never been so engrossed with anything before, other than drugs lol.
@@shobhawati348 🤔 that’s hard there’s so many to choose from. But if I was just going on storytelling alone I’d have to go:
1-attack on Titan
2-HxH
3-scissors seven(idk how this one ends yet but something would have to go majorly wrong, it will probably always b in my top favorite list)
4-full metal
5-🤔🤔 I’d like to pick stories that I know the ending and the story has been completed or come to an end, which HxH isn’t done yet either but I still gotta put it on my list. I’ve not read the manga for Vinland so idk how it will go but I’ve heard good things about what’s to come tho so I have high hopes for it! I guess I’d have to leave my #5 open for stories that haven’t finished yet.
If I’m going more on art/ animation n graphics along with a good/decent story I’d probably pick with no specific order:
1-one punch man
2-mob psycho 100
3-scissors seven
4-demon slayer
5-AOT
6-JJK
7-My hero(that guy is a master at drawing hands n it amazes me! Can’t leave him out of the animation/art list!)
8-chainsaw man
9-JoJo
10-🤔idk this one would b a free slot too.
I also really enjoy it just can’t say it’s in my top favorites just yet till I know how it ends. I can’t wait to see where the story goes I’ve heard really good things about the upcoming story!
It blew me away. I watched it on my own as a non anime watcher, and it had me jumping up from my chair and screaming at my TV. I also cried... A LOT. It's made a lasting impact on me.

I wanna be just like Thorfinn. A strong and kind man. A real man.
My god you guys already made it this far in the show. Me personally. This death was much harder than askeladds in my opinion. Askeladd was a better character, but seeing the death of such an innocent and loving person like Arnheid was just a fucking huge gut punch. Sobbed like a kid

@@brigandrus ahh crap :(
Thorfinn is completely wrong about his curse.
@@creativevisiongaming
Being a free man doesn't make murder not murder!
He would be killing in rage not defense
Arheid died because of Ketil but I doubt she would thank him for killing ketil
Same as Thors wouldn't want Thorfin to kill to avenge his murder
If he allowed him to try and kill ketil then snake would have stepped in...
Thorgil wouldn't let him get away with that..
Killing Asklad wouldn't really have made him feel better
In his heart he knew Thors wouldn't be proud of him he didn't want him to be like that
@@bluebell3720 I agree with your point about Snake and Thorgil but that's was not what Thorfinn said.
@@creativevisiongaming
Canute clearly said he didn't want Ketil killed
not pre meditated as in he had planned to go after him
but he wouldn;t be killing in self defence
it is pre meditated as he was making a choice to kill him
it wasn't an accident or self defence
I have no idea what would be considered law at the time
but we know he had made death by duals un lawful
Thorfin was talking about how it would effect Einar
violence begets violence hate begets hate...
it becomes a vicious cycle everyone feels entitled to harm or kill then the next person feels entitled to take revenge on that murder and so on
