- If you have a Porsche Boxster, well, here's how to change the front hood strut. I would have changed it much earlier if I knew it was this easy. .

Just found this on a google search. Having same problem on my 911 (2006 997), and pulling the part off, it looks *exactly* the same! Gonna try my luck with your part (seems they have many parts in common). Thanx so much for this! Was getting tired of the thing trying to 'eat' me every time Im in the trunk. :D
Great instructional thank you! My hood came down on my head lol. It’s cool that the hood and boot should spring up at a certain point. I guess my 98 Box has needed them since before I bought it.

Thanks for your video. I successfully changed the front struts on my 2001 Boxster following your instructions. Also as you stated the paper instructions that came with the struts are incorrect.

just got those today might put them on tonight i paid about 20 dollars. I was jumping my 356 one day with my boxster hood open well the trunk went down while the clamps were on the battery it left one nipple dent with little tiny hair line cracks its very small but i should have changed those shocks
a long time ago. i also just bought Cougar Motor HD BULBS 35W SUPER VISION HID 5000K XENON BULBS CHEAP.

My hood flew up on the freeway now I can't close the frunk are struts bent or Is the frunk ,if you can give any advise it would be much appreciated.

Susan Velez Depends on where it was bought from. Some stores are more strict while Best Buy will let you return it even if its opened.

Yup. Mine is a 2002 and I've been using a wooden dowel lol..
I thought of doing that but gotta keep up the appearance otherwise a roll of newspaper would do as well.

I watched your cam shaft pulley vid as well.. mine is making a rattling noise but not out of balance so that's my next project to figure out, along with the aos...which is in the mail.
