Yeah, I was expecting the Night King to win the battle in Winterfell and at least make it to King's Landing in the series finale and get defeated there. Kind of anti-climactic to kill the Night King and his army off so quickly after all those seasons of building up the Night King/White Walkers as being the biggest threat their world had ever seen.
@@pauldavis5665 if they didn't survive this battle that they were at least preparedish for. Then the night king would take out Westoros with the massive amount of bodies gathered and three dragons. People are just upset that it is over and their predictions did not happen
@b lol, just in a finale The Mountain just stands there as seven thousand Wights are stabbing him and it doesn't nothing. Wades through all the dead and punches the Night Kings head off.
Theon's story is one of redemption and, along with the tale of Jaime Lannister, one of the most interesting story arcs in the entire show. We hated them at first but then came to respect them and more.
Oh my god, that would have been a twist. The Three Eyed Raven behind everything, controlling the Night King like his pawn and weapon. That would have been devastating :o
I believe Bran's plan was to lead the Night King in as he was the bait. He most likely knew Arya's role, had to keep the King focused on him to give Arya a window. A false sense of security. Edit: I did not think I'd start a discussion; my first time. Thanks for the insight!! I now believe that yes, the Night King isn't beat, it was too easy. But with so little episodes, how are they going to fit all of this in?? Along with the fight for the throne?
Obviously that was the plan, but it shouldn't have worked. If the Night King was smart, he would have let his minions kill everyone in the castle except for Bran and approached him safely after the battle. It was foolish to walk in there just to get assassinated along with your entire army. Numbers was his big advantage, and he gambled it away when he could have caught Bran just a few hours later safely.
@@REXAZOR Did you see how fast it happened though? We saw everything in slow motion. He might have snapped her neck but she instantly dropped the dagger and stabbed him. The way I see it, Bran didn't do anything because he'd already done it. He saw what would happen, he gave Arya the knife, and he placed himself as bait (and pretty coldly fed Theon and his other guards to the White Walkers to buy Arya time). Bran won before the battle even began, like a proper time traveler.

Personally I think it would have been more Jon-like to at least try to kill the dragon before going out. Even if it was hopeless. He did draw his sword in the Battle of the Bastards as the whole Bolton cavalry was riding at him, in hopes of taking one guy out before he died.
He realised he was helpless, and the fight is lost, so this was just last rage shriek at night king in the face of his dragon. At least, that was my first feeling.

Bruh I admit lowkey salty that there was not some sorta showdown between Jon and the Nightking *EDIT* That being said I will definitely give credit where due, the scene of Jon racing towards the Nightking and his smug return of raising the dead to block him was a great shot.
Too much plot armor and "subverting expectations" by having arya kill the night king.....something everyone has been saying she would do for the past two seasons. We need more stakes. What game of thrones was built on. Not fan service. Show lost it's edge when it passed the books.

Drogon, Rhaegal, and Ghost are all alive and I always knew that the game of thrones will ultimately be the final battle especially when the white walker general in season 7 was killed and all the wights around him died. Then they brought it up again when they mentioned killing the night king should eliminate that issue. It was all about getting the NK in a vulnerable position which is what Bran's purpose was. Bran also gave Arya that dagger by that same weirwood tree. He can see fragments of the future. That dagger was also meant to kill Bran and it was also the same dagger that Sam saw in one of the books at the Citadel. Several people predicted that the Night King and the Great War would be wrapped by episode 3 or 4 of this season because this show was never about the Long Night, it's about playing the game of thrones. And I don't think it's all that disappointing because their army suffered tremendous losses this episode and Cersei has a fresh and well rested army now. Bronn's intentions are still unclear so Jaime and Tyrion still have an issue. On top of that now that the NK is out of the way, there's still the fact that Jon is Aegon and we will have to see how Daenerys feels about that as well as the reactions to the people who don't know that yet. Basically there is still a lot of unresolved conflict within Jon and Dany's camp + Cersei at King's Landing. So there's still a lot of meat in the show left. Anyway, great reaction guys. This was really entertaining.
BRIA Yep. As soon as they mentioned killing the night king would theoretically kill them all, I told my friend the battle would only last one episode and end Phantom Menace style. I don’t know why anyone expected different with the limited episodes remaining.
I think the same, this show has always been about the Iron Throne, if people wanted only to see the zombie war, there's TWD plus a bunch of movies about it. I don't understand how they expected this to be the final war if the "bad guys" still hold the throne and half of Westeros. Maybe it would have been different if Dany defeated Cersei on S7, but no. The point of GoT (and even ASOIAF) is medieval politics and war, with a touch of fantasy. It's not meant to be pure fantasy
Jon could opt not to tell anyone that hes aegon because he doesnt want to be kingand he trusts dany to be a good queen, but i think there has been too much sacrifice in saving jon as a baby and hiding his identity for his real identity not to be revealed and be a contender for the iron throne.
Could have saved a lot of people from dying, tho... at least Ghost! More seriously, though: he learned the hard way you can't change past or mess with future without consequences (remember Hodor). If he sees how to defeat the Night King, would he risk changing anything and giving the NK the victory?
@@karinefonte516 Yes true that could explain his silence and weirdness besides just having to assume. I hope they clarify his character with certainty before it ends. Bran has been a giant wtf is he up to for 7 seasons.
Jago Sevetar wrong. He knew the NK had to be stabbed in the dragonglass in his chest with Valyrian steel. He saw it getting embedded in his previous visions.
The crypts were 100% the safest place to be. Everywhere else was more dangerous, hence people in the crypts with no fighting ability and no weapons still being alive
Arpad Szabo you might as well say the vault xaro xhoan daxos is locked in but since i feel like being realistic about the logistics of sending out a group of slow moving incapable old men, women and children when a giant army of death that consumes everything in its path is 1 day away I’ll stick with the crypts were still the safest
Theon was definitely the best death. He faught until his last arrow, protected Bran just like he did in season 2, and died a stark in the godswood. Amazing character and development the entire series.
@@unlimited971 Theon's death was gonna happen, whether he waited for the NK to approach him or not. He chose not to wait. He made a last stand (or run).
As someone who watches reactions for GOT, I can confidently say that almost everyone counted the Dothraki and the Unsullied as 2 major characters. Whenever anyone talked about Danny facing Cersei, they would excitedly talk about how Danny had her dragons, the Dothraki, and the Unsullied. So, although we didn't have many individual casualties (Jorah, Beric, and Theon), we can include the Dothraki and the Unsullied as major casualties. They are gone. They have a handful of elite fighters, but not nearly what they once had.
LoL they coulndt even stop dead army like 5 minutes. But our great main heroes killed millions of dead. Why bother feeding whole armies i wonder. We need to bring few named guys with valerian steel and any army can not match them. Even Night King, with his dragon and dead host. Nothing can beat dothraki in open field or elite army that only knows how to fight from the birth, they said. My ass. They are nothing but shit.
Not really tho because most of the Dothraki & Unsullied weren't able to be ferried up to WF. Though with teleportation magic becoming more prevalent who really knows, I wouldn't be surprised if it were somehow the entire force ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Who would have thought that the treachery of Littlefinger would bring down the Night King. His usage of the dagger to bring about the demise of the Starks would ultimately be the weapon used to save the Starks.
Bran's plan was Arya with the Valyrian Dagger. Its why he gave it to her and told her she would have better use for it... He was being the bait so the Night King would lower his guard in that moment. Also both Dragon's survived, as well as Ghost.
I agree about the music. You know, other composers will have composed scores for other TV shows by the time Emmy season rolls around. But I think Ramin Djawadi has already locked up the Emmy for best music composition for a series with just this episode's music.

Ramin Djawadi the true boss. The music was perfect. As was the direction. If only they had better writers, things would make more sense. Like Sam, Pod, Brienne, Tormund should not have made it coz they were backed like a 100 against 1. The walkers lived upto their name- they simply walked. No 1 on 1 fight between the walkers and Jon or anyone else. They seemed weak. Whatever happened to Craster's 100 sons- the number of walkers seemed so few. Peter Dinklage was underutilised, but the moments he was showed Tyrion really shined.
that 100 v 1 thing pissed me off, if you want them to survive show them at least fighting down a hallway together or something and not surrounded. I can even deal with them being surrounded if they put other knights in there, but no, it was just the main characters. THey even went as far as to show that there were just so many of them that they overran the front lines in seconds where Jamie and Brienne would have died right then. the score and directing were awesome, but the writing went to crap.
M Unzueta In season 5 they had TWO BOOKS and skipped it. Do you think there’s excuse for this line: " You want the good girl but you need the bad pussy " you will forget that 🙃?
Yup. He knew in that spot the night king would be open for a kill. The night king killed the last three eyed raven in the exact same fashion. He walked up to him, looked, then slashed. Bran set him up and knew Arya would be there to do the thing.
There is no Bran/Brandon Stark Anymore 3 Eyed Raven knew what would happen but we should all know by now if he alters time/ reveals what would happen and messes up “the balance” then they would’ve lost. I mean come on there’s been plenty of TV shows & movies that taught us this philosophy. You can’t change past/present/future.

That episode was epic. And Brann had a plan, it was everything what happened. He was liked Doctor Strange in endgame. He let everything play out like it was supposed to .
Viserion breathes dragon fire. The effects team decided to make it blue 'cause white walkers. It's not ice breath. It's not explosive breath. It's not laser beams. It's dragon fire.
Catspaw has been around since Season 1. It was intended to kill Bran. Bran and the Night King are linked. Arya hit him in the heart. More specifically, in the dragonglass shard in his heart. Valarian steel beats dragonglass. She didn't kill him. She killed the source of his power. "I see a darkness within you, and eyes staring out of the darkness. Brown eyes. Blue eyes. Green eyes. Eyes you will close forever. " Cersei has green eyes.
Ok no no and no. They decided to have Arya do it 3 years ago (filming of season 7 ish) so the dagger and the eye color thing were way before this decision. She stabbed him in the stomach not the center of the chest And you think Arya is going to kill cerci too? Just wow
I doubt Arya will be the one to kill Cersei, she has enough glory and there are several others more deserving of that honor. I see her main role in the next battle being to help the Hound kill the Mountain.

Danny, Jon, Drogon, Rhagon and Ghost if you believe trailers (though how the hell Ghost could have survived that charge I don't know), Grey Worm, Tormund, Brienne, Jaime, Davos, Arya, Bran, Sam, Gilly, baby Sam, Misandi, Tyrion, Sansa, Gendry, the Hound, and any other unnamed persons who got lucky or were down in the crypts (Arya seems to have ended it before the wights in the crypts could inflict heavy losses). Hopefully Danny also left some soldiers down South. Even with the Tyrells and Martells knocked out of the war, she must have left a garrison on Dragonstone, and there are probably some lords who would be willing to aid her, especially after having helped save the world. Certainly any other northern houses (the only ones we know were wiped out by the White Walkers were the Umbars and the Mormonts, correct?). Ironborn if Yara retakes the Iron Islands from Euron. @@antonbrakhage490 Fair point, Danny still has hopes to somewhat rebuild her army but didn't they say the Night king had wiped out the whole North and winterfel was the last bastion? Maybe they said they had cut them off from the rest of the North but I think they said everyone else was dead
@@ragnar97 Hmm, maybe, but even then, she's still got at the least the Winterfell survivors, the garrison at Dragonstone, possibly the Iron Islands, and the option of reinforcing from Merene. Its a closer fight than it was, especially if Cersei manages to consolidate control in the South before Danny's ready to march, but its still advantage Danny, I think.
You are right. I don't know why some people liked this garbage of episode. It wasn't even good. It was ridiculous how main characters were save so many times and Then Ayra came from nowhere to save the day?? Really ??
There isn't night king or big bad villain in the books, others (WW) are a mistery, some call them old gods, they are a different specy and not linked to a generic hive mind there, we don't even see them in action except in the prologue, maybe they're trying to survive, or are in battle against R'hllor who's shady as fck by himslef (originated from the shadow lands beyond ashai by the shadow where demons prowl), so maybe it's survival of the fittest in the end no one knows
Still episodes left...gotta take out Cercei with her having dragonfire hidden still all around King's Landing..would like to see if Arya completes her list, too.

He should've said "hey man, wait 10 seconds"
Theon's story is one of redemption and, along with the tale of Jaime Lannister, one of the most interesting story arcs in the entire show. We hated them at first but then came to respect them and more.
Dennis van der Veen I bawled my eyes out to but my reason was because the writing was so shit
I was half expecting the Night King to kneel in front of Bran there lol
Oh my god, that would have been a twist. The Three Eyed Raven behind everything, controlling the Night King like his pawn and weapon. That would have been devastating :o
I was hoping he would reach out his hand and shake it. But if he bowed that would've been fucking insane!
More twist than a pretzel
*Proposing in ice crackling noises*
They would have needed a whole other season for that plot though
Well his plan could easily backfire as night king saw her. Thankfully Arya is a very well trained assassin.
@@PallaviSingh-ot2mf He culd have snapped her neck in 1 second but whatever
@@REXAZOR Did you see how fast it happened though? We saw everything in slow motion. He might have snapped her neck but she instantly dropped the dagger and stabbed him. As he was not expecting this he was distracted. And the reason why other white walkers didn't help him because night king thought he could handle it alone..just like he handled theon.
@@PallaviSingh-ot2mf I just wish George finished the books so they culd have had great writing like season 1-5 . To much plot armor to much ninja shit.

@TrainRidingHobothe dragons are as well are u people blind

Rana has the BEST reaction when Arya gives the pointy end to the Night King!!
So if enough nameless characters die they equal up to a main character? What kind of boot licking alchemy is this?!
Not really tho because most of the Dothraki & Unsullied weren't able to be ferried up to WF. Though with teleportation magic becoming more prevalent who really knows, I wouldn't be surprised if it were somehow the entire force ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Middle two climaxed when Arya stabbed the night King lmao
This episode was so dark, no wonder the night kings guard didn't notice arya
Maybe true😂
But seriously how did the Night King and his Generals not notice Arya sneaking upon him...
Total deux ex machina ending...
@@w7s5lm46 Yeah that was bad. Magical creatures and they can't sense when a 5' human female sneaking up on them.

Brand did have a reaction when he gave Arya the Catspaw last season at the Weirwood Tree
Yup. He knew in that spot the night king would be open for a kill. The night king killed the last three eyed raven in the exact same fashion. He walked up to him, looked, then slashed. Bran set him up and knew Arya would be there to do the thing.
There is no Bran/Brandon Stark Anymore
3 Eyed Raven knew what would happen but we should all know by now if he alters time/ reveals what would happen and messes up “the balance” then they would’ve lost. I mean come on there’s been plenty of TV shows & movies that taught us this philosophy. You can’t change past/present/future.
Fkn exactly!!!! finally someone that actually sees the tv show, most people saying Bran did nothing lmao.
Its like they are watching a diferent show than i am.
Tell that to professor Hulk
The music was amazing. Ramin D. is one of my favorites.
The music at the end was magnificent. Chilling and haunting all at once.
That episode was epic.
And Brann had a plan, it was everything what happened. He was liked Doctor Strange in endgame. He let everything play out like it was supposed to .
He even flicked his eyes behind the night king as she jumped
Cersei has green eyes.
Ok no no and no. They decided to have Arya do it 3 years ago (filming of season 7 ish) so the dagger and the eye color thing were way before this decision.
She stabbed him in the stomach not the center of the chest
And you think Arya is going to kill cerci too? Just wow
I doubt Arya will be the one to kill Cersei, she has enough glory and there are several others more deserving of that honor. I see her main role in the next battle being to help the Hound kill the Mountain.
GlennWH26 Waldo Frey had Green eyes
@@PlsSuscribe David Bradley has either blue or green eyes, depending on the source, but in close ups of Walder they appear brown. Contacts maybe?
In any case, Cersei and Jamie both have very distinctive green eyes.
I doubt arya will kill cercei thats as expected as people expected jon to kill the night king
Night King: dies
Pat: look how they massacred my boy
I think it was Missandei who said it could be translated as “prince or princess” since the actual word did not have an associated gender 😊
And I am so surprised how many main characters survived!
My heart started beating so hard when Dany fell down the dragon and fighting for her life!!
For her life? She did nothing, Jorah saved her ass.
@@Szoszta Killing wights with a sword even though she never fought before is hardly nothing.
For someone whose never really had to fight before, she handled herself damn well 😎🤔
@@arpadszabo661 She put herself in that situation so the show could have some tension with her lol...She coukd be taken off right after saving Jon but she literally just stood still and let them jump on the Dragon just for that scene to take place And for Jorah to die...Also where did Arya jump from? The tree? The direction was wrong, the wall? Too far, thin air to do a deus ex machina cheesy ending? Yeah
Probably the only Show where people are mad that the main characters didnt die lol.
IKR
It's not that people are mad they the main characters didn't die. It's because the only reason they shouldn't have died in the episode is due to lazy, plot convenient writing.
also The Walking Dead. People always complain about plot armour. But TWD now has more balls than GoT
I knew this was a different kind of show when the fans cheered for the death of a teenager at his own wedding.
Jorah Mormont saved his queen as always. I cry
This episode gave me a HEART ATTACK!!! I didnt breathe until ARYA did her thang. OMG! That battle was too intense for me. 🤒😥🥺
One long bad ass battle. Non stop action.
Did you realy manage to get fooled by this cliche near death experiance lazy writing ? U trendy fans are realy brainless
are you kidding those Dothraki gone in like seconds, Theon and his mates killed more Walkers than the rest of the living Army!! and Bran was watching Avengers Endgame the whole time.
Nahid: Get HiS AsS GEt hiM fiNalY
Pat: Eh man calm down
Arya put all her points in the stealth hit a max crit on the Night King.

Chris - "There are still 3 episodes left where they have to offically go down now...."
Marketa opens bottle and drinks like the hound after blackwater.
Well, there's Cersei. I just hope they don't try to turn it into a last minute civil war between Jon and Danny. But really, its interesting to explore what happens AFTER the appocalypse, even if it'll probably be a bit anti-climactic. Anyway, at least we have Cleganebowl to look forward to (hopefully).
@@antonbrakhage490 Pretty sure there must be like 20 people left in winterfell
I suppose she could also send for help from Merene, but that would take more time than this show really has left, I think.
Plus two dragons. Cersei has... probably not much besides the Lannister garrison at King's Landing, and the Golden Company, and Euron's fleet. Its a closer fight than it was, especially if Cersei manages to consolidate control in the South before Danny's ready to march, but its still advantage Danny, I think.
Knowing that Cat Paw is Actually Aegon's Dagger and knowing Aegon's vision, it's really poetic that the blade of Ice and Fire stoped the Long Night
Dude how would Winterfell justify its name if the real winter wouldnt have fallen at the place. This all was forshadowed in the name WINTERFELL.
The NK’s death feels anticlimactic at the mid season IMO. I don’t see GRRM ending his story this way.
That's if he even fucking writes anymore.
You are right. I don't know why some people liked this garbage of episode. It wasn't even good. It was ridiculous how main characters were save so many times and Then Ayra came from nowhere to save the day?? Really ??
I don't see GRRM ending his story at all.
Bran was basically that high end cellphone that you don't wanna drop to the floor 😂
15:55 That's the best reaction you've ever had. I'm gonna be re-watching that forever.
Pat’s the only one with a poker face lol
@@Charizarzar Yeah, Pat had no reaction. I liked Nahid's reaction the best.
Pat and Suraj really went the extra mile for that skit in part 1 lmao
Bran ... Dr. Strange. Stark, "Is this the one?", Strange "If I told you it wouldn't happen."
So why let Theon die? Whether he charged the Night King or stood aside and waited nothing would've changed at that point.
If he can see the future he is a dick, either that or he hadn't forgiven Theon and that's why he let him die.
@@ragnar97 he would've died anyway
@@lucasfranke3326 based on...? Based on how the Night King acts during that whole episode if Theon had stepped aside he would've gone for Bran first.
It's just bad writing. People forget one of them is the genius who came up with the idea of sewing up Deadpool's mouth and having him shoot eye-beams in Wolverine origins. Now more than ever it's clear the only reason the show was ever any good was because of the source material.
@@ragnar97 if Theon hadn't bought those extra seconds Arya would most likely get there just after Bran was killed. Also, I bet Theon would feel 1000x worse if he saw Bran being killed and didn't try to stop it. Specially because his whole character arc is about proving he is a good and honoured man. The NK would just kill him after Bran. Also, Theon couldn't run away. If you look at this scene again, you will see he's surrounded by Wights. They just stopped attacking because the king arrived...
If Jon is never resurrected, Dany wouldn't come to help. Mel also worked on lighting for this episode. We wouldn't have seen this episode at all without her! Thank you, *Melisandre.* MVP.
If Dany hadn't rode beyond the North, Viserion wouldn't have died, turned into a wight, and burned down the Wall.
I think the NK had enough Giants to bash down the lone door at the Wall. They also could’ve done World War Z style and have the dead scale that wall, I suppose.
Such a magnificently directed episode. Awesome reactions. "Air drop Arya from the Dragon" - literally the best idea to end this!!! Can't wait for the next one.
Too bad writing was shit

Bran did his job. Just like the Red Witch. They put all the right pieces on the board in just the right way to have the best outcome. If you think about it it all came together perfectly.
P.s. I hope they burn and behead that traitorous Glover bastard. What good is the Pledge of your Banner if when it counts you shrug it off?
Glover pledged to fight under the king in the north. He didn't break any vows. From a certain point of view, you could say that Jon betrayed the north.
@@pkmndjk4154 he broke his vow the first time amd Jon spared him amd he knew it. He even asked for forgiveness. Thats a lame excuse when winter was here. He should be put to death.
