Major props to Alfie Allen (Theon). He took us through such an amazing journey with Theon through out the entire series. Theon's redemption and death hit me emotionally more than any character in the show which shows you what an amazing actor he is. Theon was a good man.
I think he was grieving for Jorah as well, Jorah was there when the dragons hatched, so they've known him as long as they've known Dany. They just bonded with her so they aren't as close to him as with her.
Bran telling Theon he's a good man gets me every mf time 😂 but Jorah's death is probably my favorite of the entire show. He went out exactly how he always wanted to: serving his queen.
Theon has the best arc in the show. I bawl like a baby every time I watch his final scene. “Theon. You’re a good man. Thank you.” He started the show saving Bran from the Wildlings with his bow. He ends the show defending Bran from the dead with a bow.
little lady mormont doesn’t get enough credit for what she did in this war she was such a great little character!! definitely my favorite side character also, the moment where tyrion and sansa are in the crypt and he grabs her hand and kisses it ugh i cant i sobbed. they care so much for each other not in a sensual way but in a type of respect and friendship bond.
if you remember Jon asked Arya how she sneaked up on him. and its crazy that Beric came back to life 6 times and melisandre lived for over a hundred years just to be there at the long night war and ensure Arya survives.
it seemed like plot armor that so many people somehow magically escaped the wights! When this episode aired I was like Kathy Bates in Misery and I was yelling at the tv= "They didnt jump out of the cockadoodie crypt!"
I'm really glad you can appreciate the darkness of the episode. Most people just complain, but I, like you, always thought it just added to the tension and terror!! My favorite episode of the whole show. When Brienne and Jamie were fighting back to back on the wall, they were wielding the two halves of Ice, Ned Stark's sword, so in a way, Ned was there to defend Winterfell one last time. Theon is my favorite GOT character. His growth over 8 seasons was phenomenal. Such good writing, that you start out season 1 hating him, but cry over his death. And I think (sorry if I'm wrong) Theon is the only one we see the Night King personally k*ll. I recommend reading the book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon. It's interviews with a lot of cast and crew, and it gives SO much information and perspective to this show. It's one of the reasons I can never hate season 8, just knowing what the cast and crew did to bring it to us. If you love zombie fiction and like to read, I HIGHLY suggest Joseph Talluto's White Flag of the Dead book series. There's much less drama than the Walking Dead, more building back and taking back the world, and the zombies make more sense.
Big fan of this reaction and this episode. My favorite episode of any TV series, even though The Walking Dead is my favorite show of all time. Keep up the good work!
The people that had to plead their case to be there, (Jaime and Theon) really fought hard and contributed greatly to the cause. Jaime and Theon's characters really changed the most from the beginning of the show till now, and had the best redemption stories in the series. I think the death that hit me hardest was Jorah's. He too had to redeem himself. After his betrayal of Dani in the beginning of show, he has has done nothing but prove his loyalty, tirelessly fighting at her side to protect her and help her achieve her goal. He fought till his dying breath for the woman that he loved, even though he knew that his love was one sided. Dani did however have love for him (not romantic) and truly mourned his death.
Of the many moments that paid a sort of homage to LOTR, Jorah’s final battle is one that really hits hard. (I won’t say the LOTR character’s name because spoiler, but it’s someone whose redemption includes a climactic sword fight where he keeps standing up and taking another swing despite all his wounds.)
i think the plotwist side around arya killing the night king is because of his training as "no one". The Many-Faced God is the god who bestows the Blessing of Death, where the Night King brings him back from the dead. Arya has evolved in this Faith. and as such, she is legitimate to offer the blessing of death to all revenants who are under the control of Others.
Woah that’s actually an amazing perspective. The night king essentially stole the gift of death away from the living whereas Arya’s whole purpose is to give the gift of death.
I know that there’s some folks that didn’t like this episode but I loved it. I thought it was a great battle and I was certainly pleased with the outcome and the final moment on Melisandre’s death. To me both her and Arya were the MVPs of this episode. I really enjoyed your reaction and commentary. We’re almost to the end!
It's funny you mentioned the anticipation, when I watched this episode I wasn't even sitting down. I stood right in front of the TV the WHOLE episode, rocking back and forth, I couldn't stay still! Lol. I also bawled my fucking eyes out, especially Theon's death and when Bran told him he was a good man. I had tears rolling down my chest, ffs 😢
“Ear orgasms” 😅 I think Ramin won an Emmy for that track - legend!! The Season 6 finale pretty much trumps this one for named characters taken out with Marjory, Loras, Mace, Lancel, Kevan and High Sparrow in one scene, but technically could add Tommen and Pycell, Walder Frey, as well to include the entire episode. I get it, when you binge its easy to forget other major moments 👍 Did I miss anyone???🤔😅
Great reaction! I'm with you on the score, it's so good in this episode and in this show overall. You should definitely check out UA-cam videos of full Game of Thrones concerts, they're so amazing and emotional! I am definitely not in the "hater" camp about this season like so many others. This episode is good entertainment and I always bawl my eyes out when Bran thanks Theon and tells him he's a good man. Theon is one of my favourite characters EVER written, period. The way that you find him annoying, then HATE him, then feel horrible for him, and then love him by the end. So good. I also love Lyanna Mormont going up against the wight giant. Bella Ramsay did a phenomenal job acting as this fierce little lady who doesn't just sit on a chair the whole time she rules, and in my opinion it's a really great end for her character to kill off a giant like that, despite dying herself. And then Jorah and Dany... heartbreaking scene. But also so fitting for their characters. Looking forward to your thoughts on the rest of the season!
I am in fierce agreement with you about Theon! I love him so much, he has the most beautiful redemption arc ever...and I personally think Alfie Allen is the best actor on this show. There are so many extremely brilliant actors in this cast, but that man is out of this world 🌎 👏 🎉
"Ear orgasms!" 😂 I completely agree, the music is masterful throughout this series, and this episode is possibly the best score of all. Also, just wanted to say, for a guy who loves battles, you must totally love this show! There are so many...There's Blackwater, Battle for the Wall, Battle of the Bastards, The Long Night, the Fields of Fire, then there's smaller ones like the Euron attacking the fleet one, Eastwatch, Red Wedding, etc...Plus, I don't think it's a spoiler to say there's one more battle coming with Cersei, that's obvious. I won't say which episode or anything, but yeah, this show has the dang battles! 👌
It’s insane how many characters survive what should have been insta deaths throughout this battle. Pods the exception since his magical rod can defeat anything
12:11 I love the look on the red woman face when she’s chanting and it’s not lighting, like yeah that fear is what that little girl felt when you burned her alive but you better light this shyt before you die 😂😂
I loved Arya being the one to kill the Night king....her whole arc and training was leading to this..and the repeat of Syrios line 'What do we say to the god of death?' from The red woman was Epic!
I'm happy you enjoyed this as much as you did. I think quite a lot of people did; they were willing to overlook quite a bit thanks to all the things they did right in this episode, not to mention the anticipation of the final payoff. It was the rest of the season that truly spoiled them on the conclusion. And yes, the score is the one constant brilliance of the entire show. I'm always happy to listen to it.
- Why/how did the red woman come from the North? - Remember, we are essentially seeing the end of the Dothraki. No more. Done. None left. - Why would you send your mounted troops to just charge into a wall of death? Complete waste - Why would you have your battle lines so shitty? Footman IN FRONT OF the ditches and walls? Wtf? - so why is Ghost rolling with Jorah? - how didn't Jorah die in the charge into the army of the dead? - wouldn't it made thematic sence for Jon to kill the Night King? - every time somebody should die, the camera cuts away so the character can put on their plot armor. - so zombies have self preservation to not walk into water, but don't care when it comes to fire? - how is Sansa the smartest but she doesn't know how to poke someone with a knife? - where's the beat place to hide people against an enemy that can raise the dead? The crypts!! and how the heck do the zombies break through stone tombs? - Arya is Wolverine when the plot requires it, then a scared child when it doesn't. Gotta love consistency. - they had to shoe horn in that Mellisandre and Arya prophesy, they didn't even quote it right. - you're right it WOULD HAVE been cool to see Jon fight the Night King. - Aight, gotta give props to Theon. 11/10 - Wtf was Jon going to do? Scream at the dragon? - master assassin screams as she goes in for the kill.... MASTER ASSASSIN!
Ps Jon killing the Night King would have been way too obvious and the Dothraki are more skilled in battle whilst charging on their horses as was demonstrated when they attacked Jamie's troops in Episode 4 of season 7!
I have watched your entire journey. I waited to comment until I reached this point. I must say, that I have enjoyed your journey. Though, I agree with some others about some of the reactions to the most emotional parts; particularly Hodors death and story. Sorry about that, I’m an empath. I just want to say that I have never seen a more intense and profound battle portrayal than this one right here. No matter how many reactions I watch, I feel the same angst each time. Though, your reactions to some things misaligned with my own, I am so delighted that you’ve taken this artful journey. Years later, and I still know that it was worth it. :) it meant so much to me, that I rewatched immediately after I finished it for the first time. And despite many people hating how it ended. I thought it was perfect. Bran the brave was always meant to be the chosen King.
I think the episode being dark was a great choice it’s like when you watched the decent and it’s super dark but your on edge because, you know something is in the darkness that’s how I felt with this 👏🏾 waiting for the dead, and them basically moving the shadows tearing through the first line was EPIC. I will admit although in the moment I was hype for Arya because finally the Night king was dead but I felt played out of the epic sword fight we should’ve gotten but instead they make him raise the dead like wtf that was bullshit writing in my opinion, I love watched Jamie be concerned and fight side by side with breinne, the unsullied are fcking bosses it’s very impressive how long they held that line considering how many undead there was, The red woman lighting the swords was a beautiful scene especially for this dark episode, I love how even the hound is terrified of fire and was going to give up once he saw Arya fighting he knew he couldn’t and he had to go get her 💓 GHOST IS THE MVP for making it 💯💪🏾 Theon and Jamie had the best character Arc I’ve ever seen in a tv show I honestly grew to love them both
I was tripping hard during this episode. xD When the Night King raises up everyone again and the battle basically "resets", I started thinking that everyone at Winterfell would die. I also got it into my head that maybe the producers had tricked us all, and the season wouldn't be six episodes, but only three, and this was the end of it all. The Night King would walk up to Bran and cut him in half, and the screen would go black, and then as a last image we see the White Walker army march through the gates of King's Landing, and the show would end with the Night King taking the Iron Throne. o.O
There’s actually 8 named character deaths in this episode Jorah Theon Ed Beric Lyanna Mormont Melisandre Night King Qhono (he’s been the leader of the Dothraki since S6)
See, a lot of people complain about being really dark and hard to see, but that is intentional If visibility was okay, then the dragons could Wipe out the army of the dead without having problems figuring out who's who
I think whhat a lot of people complain about aside of the ending itslef is the writting and direction of the episodes that led to it. In my first viewing i really did not see it that much, but rewatching it every year just really starts to show how lazy the showrunners became for the last seasons.
First, let’s talk about what a punk ass The Night King was for raising the dead around him so Jon couldn’t kill him with his valerian steel sword. He remembered Hardhome. And The Night King is the one who commanded the Wights to build a bridge thru the fire. He commands them and they follow. And
The Night King was smart af. He sent the bulk of his wights at Winterfell, and had his generals stay back along the forest edge. All while he’s on dragonback away from the battle. I always assumed Bran was trying to lure him in with the ravens when he said “I’m going to go now”. And then when he’s on foot instead of risking everything to fight Jon, he just raises the dead lol.
If someone asks "what is the worst battle layout you saw on film in serious movie" - it would be this episode. All they cared about what drama and pretty shots, but common sense, battle strategies - nah, it's not on the menu. From Dothraki riding full speed where they can't see (how they were going to fight before they got flaming sword?), to Unsullied standing in FRONT on ditches instead of behind them, to trebuchets sitting in the middle of the field and firing once, instead of behind the walls, constantly firing.
@@DonkeyFrost129MC I mean there's nothing wrong with people enjoying the episode. If you enjoyed it then you enjoyed it, which is the ultimate goal of the entertainment industry in the first place just as long as they're not in denial about the flaws.
@@BhBc8f8 of course, it’s good that people are still able to enjoy it. But I saw someone say that season 8 was “exceptionally well written” and I was just like… no. Lol
@@DonkeyFrost129MCI think season 8 is not very good written but it is not BAD. This episode is crazy, you have dragons fights, plot twists like : the army of the dead coming, back every time. Or amazing scene like the library scene with Arya, that don't need good shots and montage, its still as good. Or the music that is clearly incredible. So yeah I think there were kind of dumb to put dothraki in front without firing sword in the first place. But this is not what stopping the fact this episode is FIRE. 1 more complain is the fact that Arya kills the Night King, everyone would have wanted Jon to get him, but this scene is still as great as ever.
@@DonkeyFrost129MCand yeah I think a action is fun, because It is the point of GoT. This is dialogue, character development, plot twists, leading directly to battles. So I think THINK hurr durr that battles are cool
I wonder which of the buried Starks in the crypt were reanimated and wound up attacking Sansa and the others. Not Ned, because Ned was beheaded and it seems as if that’s a deal-breaker. But poor Rickon?? Do readers of the books have any details about the reanimated dead in the crypt?
Almost as good as George conjuring up that a cut throat would be wielding thee Dagger of all Daggers to kill Bran, that us simpletons of GOT at episode 2, season 1, wouldn't blink for a second, on the sheer nonsense of it. We learn much later, that anybody who is anybody in those days of Westoros, should put up a red flag IMMEDIATELY, that this was a setup. No high lord would hand such a rare precious historic piece to do a hit, when any weapon could of done the job & not leave a crumb trail to himself. George pulled the wool over our eyes early on & all you guys have to do is complain about D&D. George on one hand made Ned, Ser Rodrick & Maester Lewin as wise Westoros historians & on the other hand, made them all seem like fools, as they all bit on Littlefinger's story, when nothing in his story added up. It only added up, if it was a common dagger. We know that the dagger has huge history behind it. Any noble should of recognized the importance of it.
In the beginning it wasn't a giant the dead are so cumbersome that they legit are rolling over each other like coins in a coin pusher game at the arcade lol
There's definitely a lot of questionable choices in seasons 7-8, and the fact that they both felt super rushed, but I still enjoyed them overall. I still think they're great TV.
@@GreatOldOne9866 honey, it's my favorite franchise why would I want to complain about it just for the sake of complaining, it's just not good television.
I'm a huge zombie fan myself. I LOVE The Walking Dead. And then all the good zombie movies! Love. My favorite thing are zombie book series, though. There are EXCELLENT zombie series out there to read. Especially on Kindle. You should try some if you don't already. Books are just as exciting as movies. Maybe more. Some are funny. Some are crazy! Some are really interesting twists on the genre. God, I love zombie fiction!
From a cinematic point of view, this episode is really nice and looking pretty solid. I understand why you wouldn't hate it or anything, but from a writing and logic perspective, it was pretty bad and here are some reasons: 1. As you said, why would they send the dothraki first and alone if they knew they'll get revived and fight for the night king. 2. All the game of thrones was build around Jon versus the Night king, Arya had no links with the night king and no reasons at all to be the one to kill him. Only cus red women would say that in this ep? Cmon, jon had all the build up and most logic to fight/kill the night king. 3. In GoT, there were tons of main characters which died but somehow in this episode, there were many characters surrounded by many walkers and they somehow didn't die. This show was well known for no having plot armor but this episode changed that completly. There are other reasons why this wasn't a "good" episode in terms of writing or story, like all the build up to this, just to show us arya coming out from nowhere and killing the night king and so on. Anyway, i'm happy that you liked it for no at least haha. Nice reaction!
I too saw a lot of people say how horrible season 8 was. There were a lot of people (less prominently on social media) that loved it. Of course the statistics done by the people that do those things for a living said the majority (I can confirm at least one 😁) enjoyed it somewhere in-between. Basically everyone has their own take on what they made of the season according to how they perceived what they took away from the story (and that was the most confusing sentence I've ever written 😵💫).
Like I know that many say that the final season was poor in terms of the rushed nature of the story. But the cgi, acting never really suffered which is good. This episode is so tense and I know we expected the white walkers to last longer than one episode but they didn’t fail to show the absolute chaos the entire army of the dead could do against another big army. They nearly overwhelmed the living which is what I wanted more than anything really.
Why isn't Jon joining the fight at the beginning?... they set up a plan to last episode where they had to draw out the night king and he would protect bran... once danys dothraki got decimated the plan blew up when Dany got on the dragon.... but how do you know the right way to fight hundredsssss of thousands of whites against 60 thousand
33:20 - did anyone else expect Bran to apologize or express compassion to the Night King? Considering he was a man that was turned into a monster against his will and Bran knows it. He's a victim too and if there is anything human left in him, he must have suffered on some level through those thousands of years.
"Are we gonna have a fight between Jon and the Night King"? That's exactly what we'd all been waiting years for after multiple stare downs... yeah but no!!
I think people were so focused on the idea of a duel, they completely missed when they fought on dragon back lol. I do like that the NK refused to fight Jon though. There’s no reason for him to ego fight Jon. People say the writers ignore logic for spectacle, but that’s a good example of a character doing exactly what they should do.
@@kevinwendellcrumb1802 yeah but Rhaegal alone could've done that. Things would still play out the same if we take Jon out of the script, which is just unreal for a main character
Never bought into the whole "episode 3 is too dark"... since the start of the show he has been called the NIGHT KING for crying out loud, he brings darkness to the world of men! He can create clouds to block the sun, moon and stars.
Jon is the only reason Northmen, Wildlings, Night’s watch, Unsullied, Dothraki, and dragons fought together against the army of the dead. He was the leader of the living, the antithesis of the Night King. Jon is the one who made it his mission to unite the living and stop the dead. Just cause he wasn’t the one to land the final blow, doesn’t make his part any less historic.
@@BhBc8f8Tbf you could say that about everyone who didn’t kill the NK. By that logic, Arya is the only one who did anything. That was my point. Jon is the one who made this entire situation possible, so him not landing the final blow doesn’t take away from what he did. There’s a reason Tyrion says “If we survive the war to come, we’ll have Jon Snow to thank.”
@@kevinwendellcrumb1802 Uh no. Mel lit the trenches buying time, Lyanna took out a/the giant, Beric and the Hound saved Arya, Dany commanded the dragons, Greyworm commanded the unsullied, Jorah saved Dany, the dothraki joined the NK, The NK commanded the dead, the WW brought the storm, Theon bought Arya time, Arya killed the NK, Brienne and Jaime squad manned the wall buying time, Tormund and Ed squad manned the gate buying time, Bran was bait, Ser davos commanded the Archers buying time, Missandei and Sansa discussed politics and Tyrion protected Sansa. Jon, Sam, Gilly and Varys did nothing of significance to the plot of this episode. The last 3 are understandable but a main character, the one responsible for bringing all this together was irrelevant in the most important battle ever? Come on, that's just disrespectful. I can't fault Kit Harrington for being disappointed after all his work in previous seasons leading up to what should've been an impactful moment for his character's arc.
@@BhBc8f8 “Missendie and Sansa discussed politics” Jon did WAY more than them at least lol. Dany doesn’t command Rhaegal, only Drogon. I mean, I’ll list out what Jon did but my whole point was that he’s the one responsible for them even winning. Without Jon, the only fight waiting for the walkers is Bran, Beric, Thoros and the hound. Jon used dragon fire on the tidal wave of dead at the beginning of the battle. When he sees the white walkers he goes to take them out but the storm stops him. He watches over Bran in the Godswood. He went after the NK the moment he showed up. Jon attacks the NK on dragonback when he sees him lighting up Winterfell, they fight and Jon gives Dany the opportunity to knock the NK off his dragon. He runs to fight him and is cheated out of a 1v1. He fights though Winterfell ignoring Sam and everyone else in order to kill the NK. He definitely wasn’t irrelevant considering he had the most important job of anyone: kill the Night King. He fought him on dragonback and confronted him on foot. There’s a big difference between doing nothing, and failing to do something. He did more fighting in this episode than he did in Watchers on the wall.
@@kevinwendellcrumb1802 "Jon did WAY more than them at least" Not to the plot. I don't really have any opinion on that illogical storyline tbh, barely paid attention to it but one could argue the conversation is what forms Sansa opinions moving forward in the story so we can't exactly call it unimportant. But if you think it's not then sure. "he’s the one responsible for them even winning" No one is denying this, not sure how many times i've gone over that. Jon is very important to the Long Night storyline but if you remove his character from the script of the Long Night battle nothing changes, which is atrocious storytelling. "Jon used dragon fire on the tidal wave of dead at the beginning of the battle....." Again Rhaegal could've done all of that on his own if Dany commanded it like she did in 6x9 and 7x7. When Jon fell off the Dragon i thought finally now's a chance for the main character to make an impact in his episode but what did he do? fought a bunch of wights and screamed at the undead Viserion ?? waiting to die?? Ay dios mio 🤦♂ "He did more fighting in this episode than he did in Watchers on the wall." ugh mate I get that you're just trying to play devil's advocate here but that has to be one of the dumbest things i have ever heard. At Castle Black, Jon commanded the wall's defenses when Ser Allister fell. He gave the orders to stop the giant. He single handedly defeated the main threat from the Thenne commander. He physically led the men to victory. That's what launched him into becoming Lord Commander in the first place. Without him and Ser Allister there, the castle would've fallen, that is a fact. I can't say the same about this episode. It's a grave insult to compare D&Ds 8x3 adapted from god knows where to 4x9 adapted from GRRM's A Storm of Swords. nah fam that ain't it 😂
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss told Entertainment Weekly, to the airing of season 8, that they already knew back in 2013 that the final season would have to be significantly shorter than regular seasons, knowing the planned sequences for the final episodes would require much more budget than HBO could offer to give them, naming this episode in particular as one of the main examples
Well, that was BS, cuz we know now that HBO were willing to put in ALOT of money to make it more seasons. But they refused cuz they got the disney offer and rushed the last 2 seasons.
He is right. In this episode die more named characters than at the Red Wedding. At the Red Wedding dies the whole Stark Army + minus the Boltons - but most of them have no Name and are only redshirts.
@@walkerst8785 Huh. Yeah I guess thats right. Just really had Rob, Talisa, Catelyn, and Grey Wind die. And sure, there's also Rob's unborn child. And Walder's wife, who I dont think the show named at all. And according to a search on all the major deaths of the episode, Wendel Manderly also died. The rest were all redshirts lol
I love how they made such importance out of the dragonglass but saved none of it for the Dothraki lmao 😂 most of the Dothraki (if not all) are highly skilled with bow on horseback. Its one of the things that makes them so dangerous in battle. If they only gave them dragonglass arrows..they would have taken out so many wights and still had time to retreat safely. This whole battle irritates me lol why was anyone other than the Dothraki outside of the walls?
They couldn’t stay in the castle because the army wouldn’t fit, and the dead would just world war z over the walls; then they’re in close quarters with an army of wights.
The entire battle was stupid. There were so many things they could have done to halt the damn army of the dead. And don't get me started on us not getting the epic battle between Jon and the Night King. I felt and STILL feel robbed!
@@CGCentralHDProbably. There’s tons of things they could’ve done differently. The one that really bothers me is the placement of the trebuchets and catapults
I've never understood why Melisandre died when she took off her necklace because she took it off once before and got into bed and we saw how old she was, but she didn't die then. I guess it must have to do with her proximity to the necklace because she walked a pretty good distance away from it in this episode.
I think it’s because the Lord of light didn’t need her anymore. The NK was dead at that point. She said that Berics purpose was served after he saved Arya.
Remember that the people complaining are always the loudest, especially on the internet. That doesn't mean that everyone thinks like they do, they are just the loudest ones hence the ones you hear. I really enjoyed many many parts of S8 and this battle episode is incredible.
If I had a nickel for every time Iain Glen's character dies being stabbed and surrounded by the army of walking dead, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
Major props to Alfie Allen (Theon). He took us through such an amazing journey with Theon through out the entire series. Theon's redemption and death hit me emotionally more than any character in the show which shows you what an amazing actor he is. Theon was a good man.
I agree. I cried so much at his ending sacrifice. And I still do each time I rewatch.
My favorite line in this episode is "Where is a shadow baby when you need it." lol.
RIP Ed, Lyanna, Beric, Jorah, Theon, Melisandre.
he still hasn't let go of that!
Jorah's death made me cry and was so sweet Drogon curling around Danny as if to say "it's ok mum Iam here for you"
I think he was grieving for Jorah as well, Jorah was there when the dragons hatched, so they've known him as long as they've known Dany. They just bonded with her so they aren't as close to him as with her.
Bran telling Theon he's a good man gets me every mf time 😂 but Jorah's death is probably my favorite of the entire show. He went out exactly how he always wanted to: serving his queen.
I agree his death thankfully wasn’t just brutal he went out exactly how he should’ve he fought until his last breath I was in shambles tho 😂
@shaniawashington7775 definitely one of the better character arcs on the show.
Theon has the best arc in the show. I bawl like a baby every time I watch his final scene. “Theon. You’re a good man. Thank you.”
He started the show saving Bran from the Wildlings with his bow. He ends the show defending Bran from the dead with a bow.
theons story was the one i was most invested in
little lady mormont doesn’t get enough credit for what she did in this war she was such a great little character!! definitely my favorite side character
also, the moment where tyrion and sansa are in the crypt and he grabs her hand and kisses it ugh i cant i sobbed. they care so much for each other not in a sensual way but in a type of respect and friendship bond.
I agree supported Jon and took out the giant with her last breath she was a epic side character
if you remember Jon asked Arya how she sneaked up on him. and its crazy that Beric came back to life 6 times and melisandre lived for over a hundred years just to be there at the long night war and ensure Arya survives.
Love it & totally here for it!!! Jon started her on her journey by having "Needle" made for her.
And the hound who became a follower later kept her safe for so long… so it really was the lord of light he whole time
I really appreciate that the ice dragon's fire also comes outta the spear holes in his neck.
The Night King controlled the weather. That's why the Storm rolled in.
it seemed like plot armor that so many people somehow magically escaped the wights!
When this episode aired I was like Kathy Bates in Misery and I was yelling at the tv=
"They didnt jump out of the cockadoodie crypt!"
Yep! Theon is in my top 5 favorite characters on this show, and Alfie Allen is the best actor on this show! His death crushed me 💔😭
"A figh between Jon and the Night King would be insane!"
yeah, about that ...
😅😅😅
Big fan of this reaction and this episode. My favorite episode of any TV series, even though The Walking Dead is my favorite show of all time. Keep up the good work!
Lmaoooo💀💀💀💀 if your fav ep oat is the long night you hav e genuinly a low iq😭
During the wall siege segment I love how Jamie stepped up and started commanding different types of soldiers from different types of factions🤟
The tidal wave of wights is so awesome. I love the shot from Tormunds pov where he sees the dead just sweeping over the unsullied.
i think the plotwist side around arya killing the night king is because of his training as "no one".
If you’d told me back in s2 that I’d get emotional over Theon’s death, I’d have thought were lying!
When he tries to turn his head to watch the Night King approach Bran, my heart breaks even more.
We all hated Theon 😭

I get it, when you binge its easy to forget other major moments 👍
Did I miss anyone???🤔😅
The music is FIRE. I love that you always notice it. By the way, same dude does it for House of Dragon.
That is the result of shooting for 55 straight nights in a row!!😮😮😮😮😮
There are so many extremely brilliant actors in this cast, but that man is out of this world 🌎 👏 🎉
"Ear orgasms!" 😂
I completely agree, the music is masterful throughout this series, and this episode is possibly the best score of all.
theon’s arc was the best in the history of fiction. absolutely nailed it on screen too. so emotional. so good.
Next to Arya The on had the best character arc in the whole series in my opinion. I teared up when he died.
It’s insane how many characters survive what should have been insta deaths throughout this battle. Pods the exception since his magical rod can defeat anything
Wights definitely got nerfed after hardhone
No doubt. Stakes were lacking. Brienne, Jaime, Sam- massive plot armor.
Awesome Falsetto when the dead Starks in the crypt started busting out of their tombs. 😊 terryfying
12:11 I love the look on the red woman face when she’s chanting and it’s not lighting, like yeah that fear is what that little girl felt when you burned her alive but you better light this shyt before you die 😂😂
I really liked the theory that Jaime would kill the night king and thereby give an honorable meaning to the nickname 'Kingslayer'
Crazy how comments and fans did a better job than what they cooked up without the Authors 🤣
That wouldn't have led to enough finger snaps and Yas Queens so unfortunately we got Arya.
Yeah but Jaime being Azor Ahai doesn't make one ounce of sense. 😂

the words of house mormont are forever tied to this episode: here we stand
I loved Arya being the one to kill the Night king....her whole arc and training was leading to this..and the repeat of Syrios line 'What do we say to the god of death?' from The red woman was Epic!
Now you know Arya's journey and all the reasons for her journey.
Salute to Jorah the Andal 😢😣🫡 a man among men
- Why/how did the red woman come from the North?
- Remember, we are essentially seeing the end of the Dothraki. No more. Done. None left.
- Why would you send your mounted troops to just charge into a wall of death? Complete waste
- Why would you have your battle lines so shitty?
- Wtf was Jon going to do? Scream at the dragon?
- master assassin screams as she goes in for the kill.... MASTER ASSASSIN!
The Night King commanded the wights to walk into the flames to create a bridge when he raised his hands whilst on Viserion
Ps Jon killing the Night King would have been way too obvious and the Dothraki are more skilled in battle whilst charging on their horses as was demonstrated when they attacked Jamie's troops in Episode 4 of season 7!

This episode is so intense! I love it!
I really loved this episode! Funny how all of the haters are still following the show around after all these years 😁
I was fine with the show till episode 5
The NK started sending them across. That's why he held his necromancer hand up all terrifying, like.
The Night King would walk up to Bran and cut him in half, and the screen would go black, and then as a last image we see the White Walker army march through the gates of King's Landing, and the show would end with the Night King taking the Iron Throne. o.O
Imagine the outrage then😂
@@SeriesNerd Well, I'm not entirely convinced the outrage would have been less than the outrage we got from 4, 5 and 6.. o.O

There’s actually 8 named character deaths in this episode
Jorah
Theon
Ed
Beric
Lyanna Mormont
Melisandre
Night King
Qhono (he’s been the leader of the Dothraki since S6)
See, a lot of people complain about being really dark and hard to see, but that is intentional If visibility was okay, then the dragons could Wipe out the army of the dead without having problems figuring out who's who
That Christ imagery with Beric was truly poetic. 👩🍳 💋 🤌
Dude….love this episode next to “Battle of the Bastards”….it’s fun watching it in the dark. I saw more that way 😎
Yes... you missed one named character death. The Night King.
And
Just think. All the Night King would've had to do to win would have been to just stay away from the battle.
Your reactions are very entertaining, greetings.
That one episode where Arya goes Assassin’s Creed. 😎
My only complain about the finale is that feels too rushed. Like they're running to get it done.

Solid conclusion for the White Walkers? Wow..
This episode has its flaws but I Love it nonetheless. The music, the atmosphere and the cinematography are so great.
Completely correct, but you'll have plenty of numbskulls defending this episode because hurr durr it looks cool and action is fun
@@DonkeyFrost129MC I mean there's nothing wrong with people enjoying the episode. If you enjoyed it then you enjoyed it, which is the ultimate goal of the entertainment industry in the first place just as long as they're not in denial about the flaws.

Some are really interesting twists on the genre. God, I love zombie fiction!
If you want the name of some good ones, I'll give you some good names.
From a cinematic point of view, this episode is really nice and looking pretty solid. I understand why you wouldn't hate it or anything, but from a writing and logic perspective, it was pretty bad and here are some reasons:
100% agreee
Ramin Djawadi rules!
12:38 Jon (+Dragon) was RIGHT THERE! Why didn't HE light up the trench??
(edit: I really shouldn't even get started... )

Maybe because Jon could also ride a Dragon to help burn most of the soldiers?
33:20 - did anyone else expect Bran to apologize or express compassion to the Night King? Considering he was a man that was turned into a monster against his will and Bran knows it. He's a victim too and if there is anything human left in him, he must have suffered on some level through those thousands of years.

But Expectations subverted tho am i right? 🙃
Never bought into the whole "episode 3 is too dark"... since the start of the show he has been called the NIGHT KING for crying out loud, he brings darkness to the world of men! He can create clouds to block the sun, moon and stars.
Agreed. One of the sillier complaints. The darkness was a key element in my opinion and created amazing atmosphere
That's the ridiculous part, this character is so important to the story but if you remove Jon from this episode, nothing changes.
@@kevinwendellcrumb1802 "Jon did WAY more than them at least"
Not to the plot. I don't really have any opinion on that illogical storyline tbh, barely paid attention to it but one could argue the conversation is what forms Sansa opinions moving forward in the story so we can't exactly call it unimportant. But if you think it's not then sure.
"he’s the one responsible for them even winning"
No one is denying this, not sure how many times i've gone over that. Jon is very important to the Long Night storyline but if you remove his character from the script of the Long Night battle nothing changes, which is atrocious storytelling.
"Jon used dragon fire on the tidal wave of dead at the beginning of the battle....."
Again Rhaegal could've done all of that on his own if Dany commanded it like she did in 6x9 and 7x7. When Jon fell off the Dragon i thought finally now's a chance for the main character to make an impact in his episode but what did he do? fought a bunch of wights and screamed at the undead Viserion ?? waiting to die?? Ay dios mio 🤦♂
"He did more fighting in this episode than he did in Watchers on the wall."
ugh mate I get that you're just trying to play devil's advocate here but that has to be one of the dumbest things i have ever heard.
38:28 "I don't think we've had that many named characters killed in one episode before"

"Jaura" 😂😭💀
I love how they made such importance out of the dragonglass but saved none of it for the Dothraki lmao 😂 most of the Dothraki (if not all) are highly skilled with bow on horseback. Its one of the things that makes them so dangerous in battle. If they only gave them dragonglass arrows..they would have taken out so many wights and still had time to retreat safely. This whole battle irritates me lol why was anyone other than the Dothraki outside of the walls?
Give up trying to make sense of this season lol
They couldn’t stay in the castle because the army wouldn’t fit, and the dead would just world war z over the walls; then they’re in close quarters with an army of wights.
@@kevinwendellcrumb1802 creating a choke point would've worked
The entire battle was stupid. There were so many things they could have done to halt the damn army of the dead. And don't get me started on us not getting the epic battle between Jon and the Night King. I felt and STILL feel robbed!
@@CGCentralHDProbably. There’s tons of things they could’ve done differently. The one that really bothers me is the placement of the trebuchets and catapults
There were eight named characters killed off in S6E10. fyi ;)
I've never understood why Melisandre died when she took off her necklace because she took it off once before and got into bed and we saw how old she was, but she didn't die then. I guess it must have to do with her proximity to the necklace because she walked a pretty good distance away from it in this episode.
I think maybe it's because she was older and just her time to go. It looked like she died of old age, crumbling to dust 😔
Absolutely. The loud minority always stands out.
To be fair, even the casts were very disappointed w season 8
35:46 - I think she was supposed to be 400+ years old, so turning to dust is appropriate.
If I had a nickel for every time Iain Glen's character dies being stabbed and surrounded by the army of walking dead, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
