WOW! How blessed are you? That is awesome!!! Congrats. I am saving to get one as I write this. My wife helping me cut some door molding and she asked me a question while I was making a cut. Fortunately I was using a push block and I that split second of distraction I nicked the block. WHEW! It wasn’t my hand or fingers. Upon showing her the Saw Stop videos her only comment was “you are getting one!”.

Hey Matt, I have the 1.75 version for several years now and used the safety feature once. Oops, making trim molding out of Trex decking and my feather board would not hold the soft material to the fence so I was holding it tight with my hand. Long story short, I was only humbled, God is good even when I do dumb stuff. It's worth every cent!! Praise be to God!!

I think you did a tremendous job on your video, it’s obviously from the heart. I wanted to commend you on your choice for a table saw, I believe your reasoning was very sound and I hope you get a lifetime of enjoyment from your SAWSTOP. I’m and old time worker who incidentally only has 7 fingers remaining. I fell victim to a table saw exactly in the manner you mentioned --I got complacent and I paid the price. I’ll be paying the price for my arrogance for the remainder of my life. Good choice my friend.
    Stay safe,
    Cheers from Toronto 🙏🏼

We don't usually have extreme heat in the PNW but we have this summer and it was killing me. So my friend stepped and I am so grateful to him. Some how I will pay him back for his kindness. We may be meeting next month and I have not actually seen him since we were kids. (I think about 1976). As far as saws I would love to own a Saw Stop some day. For now I am happy with my Delta. I have had my 3 hp SawStop for about 7 yrs. now. The laminate surface on the right side has held up just fine. The blade that came with the saw is a pretty good one. However, I chose to use an inexpensive blade for a little while at first, because I knew I would do something to trip the breaker. And I did (hit a piece of metal). Now I have the blade with the tripped breaker attached hanging on the wall by my saw as a reminder. Using better blades ever since and no more trips. I love the saw.

I have been a woodworker since my teens, i am 62 now and have been in a wheelchair since i was hurt in a car accident at 23 years old. i have had plenty of of industrial saws...three Uni-Saws and a powermatic 66 and loved all of them. when i moved a couple of years ago, i decided to sell my last beloved Uni-Saw and purchase a 3 hp sawstop. if it wasn't a quality built saw, i wouldn't have purchased it, but it is very well built and works great. not only does it have the safety features, the dust collection works great. cutting wood from a sitting position is an adventure at times and i have had my share of close calls, but i am happy with it so far....good luck and have fun!

Matt, I’m a Flag Maker and had the same Delta saw as you did. Back in February, while cutting up boards, I pushed my left pointer into the blade. I was very lucky in that it really just cut into the flesh and didn’t hit the bone. I had been telling myself that I was going to get a SawStop in the future. Well, the next day, I ordered mine. To me, after my experience, there is no price you can put on the safety feature of the SawStop. Plus, it really is a great saw.

Good for you! I had a Home Depot Rigid table saw and was very pleased with it...until I cut my thumb. I had a kickback and my thumb came over the blade and I headed to the ER.
Thank the good Lord I still have my thumb but it doesn't work as well as it use to,
I sold that saw and bought a 3hp Saw Stop and just love it. I am still cautious about the blade but for a different reason... touch that blade and the blade drops down so fast it scares you... and it cost $79 dollars to replace that blade brake and usually you have to buy a new blade! Also, I'm subscribed and like to watch your videos. Keep up the good work!

For a long time, I’ve said “I won’t get a table saw until I have the confidence to get a SawStop.” The safety features behind it made me feel comfortable in using a table saw while still following all the safety practices that come with such a powerful tool of course. But for a long time I’ve been putting it off. Often times while working on a project I would tell myself, “a table saw would really help me out here.” After seeing your video from a while ago where you first revealed your SawStop and saw how happy and excited you were, I took it as a sign! I got mine assembled a few days ago and can’t wait to use it on my next project. Thank you for inspiring me and many others! I remember finding your channel a while back and immediately got inspired to start woodworking. It was like your channel was put in front of me to hear your wisdom and start creating. You keep inspiring me to become better at my craft!
Congratulations on the new saw! You definitely deserve it! May god bless you, your family and all of your loved ones!

I started back with a Dewalt Jobsite saw. One little brain-fart and the tip of my left index finger was shredded. I was stupid, but I'm just glad I still have my finger. I didn't have the room for a full cabinet saw, so I bought the SS Jobsite Pro just for the piece of mind. It was $1400. My wife didn't even blink when I told her I was thinking of buying one when I showed her the demo vid on youtube. She just said 'Buy it. Now. $1400 is a lot cheaper than a finger.' Expensive, but 100% worth it. It's a fantastic piece of equipment and has the same 1.75hp motor as the contractor or entry PCS models. And now I'm getting a bigger shop. First purchase? 3hp SS PCS. My wife made sure it was the only saw I would buy (she later told me that the $1400 for the jobsite saw was worth the price just for her peace of mind).

Congrats! What a great blessing! Just wanted to point out one thing, the blade in your video has anti-kickback shoulders on it, this is not recommended by SawStop as it can slow the ability of the break to stop the blade. It will still stop it, but should you have an accident it can increase the severity of an injury. I've had my SawStop for about 6 months now, and it is a true joy to use! Enjoy it!

It really is amazing that someone had it in their heart to gift this saw to you. A few years ago, I was at a friends place, helping him with a project he was building. I was using his SawStop, same one you have, and something distracted me. You said it best, all in one word, complacency. The left side of my left hand made contact with the blade, and the saw did exactly what it was supposed to do........scare the &^%$ out of me. All I needed was to wash my hands to clear away any saw dust, or whatever else, apply a simple Band-Aid, go home, take a shower and put on some clean clothes. On multiple occasions, I offered to buy him a new blade and brake, but he constantly refuses to allow me to. He said that he bought 3 extra blades and brakes for this exact reason, and that my mishap with his saw, had just paid for the saw. Since that day, I have been trying to save up to get one of my own, but then I went on duty injury. What I had saved is gone, but, when my case settles, I will then have the same saw you have sitting in your shop. On a lighter note, SawStop's patent on their saw's breaking system is about to expire, which means, other companies will be able to develop their own versions, which might help push prices down a bit. As for all the things your viewers send to you, we do that because you give so much to us, and to this community. It's our way of saying THANK YOU for all that you do for us. GOD BLESS!!!!!

My buddy just got this saw, and gave me his old Rigid with the Incra fence system. That was a huge upgrade from my regular Rigid saw with the standard fence system. He also bought me Jet bandsaw for the business. Its humbling indeed. Keep it up mate! Blessings.

@@731Woodworks the fence on it is great! Once it's dialed in you can do near perfect resaw and rip cuts. Like the sawstop, it's a bit of a pain to get adjusted though.

I got my SawStop 1.75 PCS last year. I had an old Delta and I wanted to replace it. I mentioned SawStop to my wife and she said it would be cheaper than an emergency room visit - hmm, I agree! So I got one. It is a great saw and I am very pleased to have the peace of mind. I set the protection off by mistakenly allowing the blade to touch the fence on my Incra 5000. It works. It is done and over before you can even understand what the noise was. It really works.
If I didn't want the safety feature I'd likely get a Harvey table saw. Their miter is really nice.
    Thanks for your videos!

I almost cut my hand. I reached across the blade. After I did it, I realized how close I had come, and it scared me. Could have been a bad accident. But, you know what. I don't call that an accident. Accidents are things that happen through no fault of your own. IMO. That would have been my fault. By the way, do you know what the number one saw accident is? Band Saw! So said an emergency room doctor. I almost cut into my thumb on that yesterday. I was pushing a small block of hardwood trough it when my thumb hit the blade. I pulled it back and it just roughed up the skin. Man was that close. Congratulations on the new saw. If I come into money, I will buy the same one. I know you thoroughly research every tool purchase.

Happy for your purchase and review. It was a nice gift.
As for injustices I read some where it was the table saw. Not sure on that. I definitely feel safer around a band saw though personally compared to a table saw. I try and always use push sticks and keep my fingers way far away from the blade.
As for the table saw this is at least some data from popular wood working from some years back. “In the context of the general population of 310 million Americans, about one in 9,000 will go to the emergency room in any given year after tangling with their table saw, one in 80,000 will have a medical report that lists the word “amputation” and one in 160,000 will lose one or more fingers or a thumb.”
I personally know 5 people that lost fingers or have been cut deeply on a table saw. Has made me think twice and want to save up for a table saw. The loss and risk is just too great.
Thanks for this review. I appreciate.

I had to look it up but I've had mine for 9 years now. Never once regretted it. Fantastic saw....and it will at least try not to remove my finger. Which is more than I can say for any other power tool in my shop. I've only set it off 3 times. Two were unexpectedly wet wood. One was grazing the side of the blade with my finger when a piece kicked out before I expected. It's so insanely fast. Having seen it go a couple times I feel reassured that this technology works. Getting ready to put a slider on it but beyond that I can't imagine ever needing to replace it.

Matt here is my suggestion buy an extra blade cartage as you never know when you find something that might trip the saw and if you dont have a spare your done for a day or two

If anyone out there has ever even so much as used a small rotary blade (think cutting vinyl vertical blinds to length with a round rolling razor blade on a stick), it does make you realize that a quick accidental brush with it can draw blood.
I am so happy to see you get this specific table saw. I am also happy to know there are really good people out there who just want to send a gift to make you happy - what joy!

I know this is an old video but I subscribed to your channel after you posted it. I was recently listen to one of my favorite podcasts ARMCHAIR EXPERT and the guest had cut off two of his fingers with a table saw. I can't shake it. I had planned on getting a Dewalt Jobsite table saw but I now plan on going with SawStop. I have never used a table saw and only got my first circular saw a year ago. My plan is to get a SawStop 10 inch JobSite PRO Table Saw when I make the leap to a table saw. I know it can be pricy but as a wedding photographer it is cheaper than every lens and camera I use on a regular basis. In 20 years being a wedding photographer I never dropped a camera or lens but I still have insurance on them. I think the premium price to pay for a SawStop is worth it.

I used to work in the oil and gas industry. Our President was HUGE on safety. His favorite saying when discussing safety was "Routine is the enemy of focus". We get used to do something and we lack focus and that is when accidents happen.

Great review! I got a saw stop over the Delta, because of the safety feature for my fingers. I have the contractor saw. At the end of the day it’s a hobby for me and I need my fingers. I’m fortunate enough to have a budget that allowed to pay way more. Definitely gives peace of mind around the shop especially with young kids that like to hang out with dad when he is building.

Had the SawStop for many years it has save me serious injury at least 3 times since. 25 years ago I lost 2 finger tips on a table saw that dramatically affected my life so its was a no brainer when SawStop came out. Understand that Felder now has a similar technology but haven't seen any or pricing. Very simply if you use a table saw without the technology sooner or later it will "get you"; also its a quality machine.
