Your videography and photography is stunning Matt, nice work! Love your channel and your detailed coverage of the Vertix 2S. Keep up the excellent work and thanks for the inspiration.
Wow, thank you! I just checked out your channel and it's really well done! I love the bike & mobile content!!! Also, are you in the PNW? I'm in Camas WA (just north of Portland OR). I'm just guessing based on foliage in your videos. 🤷♂️
Great video as always. Coros is always tempting, but they don't have as many sport profiles as Polar. I do calisthenics, walking and yoga and Coros doesn't have profiles for all of those yet.
I wonder if they will ever expand their sport profiles. Seems like they're into climbing stuff and ultra running for the most part. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I do ultras and battery life is really important for ‘ultimate day races. Can you turn off the HRT on the 2S and extend the battery life significantly ? If HRT is turned off will it last the same as the 2 in same set up ?
I don't know exactly how much battery life you would save by turning off heart rate tracking. My guess is that yes, it would be significant. Be sure to turn off gesture backlight, vibrations and then the type of GPS satellite system you choose will be big. How far are you going? This Vertix 2S is designed for some pretty big days. 😳
@@mlegrand Thanks so much. I have the Garmin Fenix 7 Saphire and its battery is just not up to it. Think I’ll go for the Coros 2S as the GPS looks so much better than the 2 and do as you say to save battery. If following a gpx route using the map it does tend to hit the battery hard on the Garmin.
I love that Instinct 2X with the built in flashlight 🔦👌. Such a great option. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Over the years I run, I have only used Garmins. Every time I was about to sell my previous one I could sell it easily and fast at a price that allowed me to invest a small amount of money for the next one. In the case of Coros I think the demand for a used Coros especially here in Greece where I live is low so If I had the V2 I would probably stay with it rather than selling it for 100$. Garmin is what Mercedes is for cars. They keep their value and there are a lot of people out there always looking for one. Just my opinion. Thanks for the beautifully directed video once more! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
You're welcome Dromika! Thanks for watching and posting your thoughts on some of the resale value. It's especially nice to hear how things are in Greece! Thanks again!
Very welcome Teeramate! 100% agree. That SatIQ feature is pretty fantastic. I wonder if that's a feature that has to be on the manufactured chip 🤷♂️ Only larger suppliers typically supply their own firmware for those third party GPS chips. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Awesome video Matt! I love the new colours, must admit! I have seen the Vertix 2 on eBay frequently for less that £300 so I guess its all about that heart rate sensor to justify the buy 🔥
Very true. I'm testing another watch called the Suunto Race and the HR is . . . not good. But add an affordable HR strap and all of sudden you've got a really great watch option. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
well if you buy the HR arm strap I suppose is better to buy vertix 2 for the price and the battery. But without de HR strap perhaps vertix 2s is better. I'm going to buy a Coros and i'm between apex pro 2, vertix 2 and vertix 2s. My sports are trail running, cycling, swiming, mountaineering... And I'm not sure if the extra 100€/$ of the Vertix 2s is a good inversion. After all i'm going to buy the HR arm strap and the pod 2 too. Diffiult decision.
I think your point about the arm band and the V2 (vs V2S) is a really good point. There is an improvement in antenna design on the V2S but it's not a massive improvement between these two watches. I'd also love to see COROS make some minor improvements to their swim activity type. I'd love to see some sort of drill mode. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
The downfall for the Vertix2 was the size. So when saw the 2S the morning it came out, I was actually really excited thinking it was a smaller Vertix2. But no, it's actually bigger. LOL Barely bigger, but nonetheless. But it's lighter... So who knows.
solid video i want to see your review of this as it be interesting. if this was cheaper i would get this for my sister, she is not happy with her polar vantage v2 as the pool swimming is not recording all of her yards
This is a very large watch. Most females tend to opt for smaller devices. (is that me being sexist?) I think Garmin does the best when it comes to swimming because you can use the drill mode for kick or drill sets but you can also use that to correct for any yards that are off at any point. 🤷🏻♂️
🤔$700 the AWU 2 is $800 the Fenix 7x is round the Same as the coros 3 difficult choices it’s really hard to choose 1 and you can’t buy all 3 too costly Health metrics are important but I’m such a sucka for that blue coros blue watch 😍such a beauty 🙄I’m still garmin for all black watch not grey not slight greyish black 🙃I won’t mention apple cause you know limited options On the other hand My enduro 2 a month now battery I’m guessing another 2 weeks it should hold up Whilst the right man 😅2/3 days AWU 2 👆 yh we know why. But September not far so apple more juice 😤 less light
there isn't a single day when I didn't regret spending 700 euros on this shit, I never want to have a coros in my life. Golden Garmin. Now it's a problem to sell, nobody wants it.
I'm kind of surprised no one wants to buy it. It is an improved device. But I can understand how hard it would be to switch after being used to a Garmin. This things battery life is pretty freaking amazing. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
🥱 Looks good, however... Coros seems to have lost their direction. $700 USD for the very limited feature set is asking a lot. Coros doesn't need to be like Garmin and their minimalist software approach is their niche, but... in actual use, some things just fall short. One example: in navigation, management of waypoints and courses is clunky and actions (like removing waypoints) generally requires using the phone app. Even on the Garmin Instinct series, you can create and remove waypoints from the watch. Additionally, Coros doesn't routable maps on device, but they don't even provide bearing navigation. I could rant on, but my point is Coros does a great initial effort, but never seems to mature/polish the features they offer.
It gets really competitive when you start talking about $700 devices as apposed to the Pace 3 at $230. I love that COROS continues to support their devices long into the future but understand your point that some features could use more work. It'll be interesting to watch this space to see what COROS does with future updates. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍

Oh forgot to comment nice work Matt as always your B roll shots and cinematography is just 😱 superb deserves more subs for all that work you put in 🙌👏
Thank you Max!!!

I'm interested on your thoughts on a comparison between the Fenix 7X and the Vertix 2S?
At one point I ranked a few watches and the Fenix 7X was very high on the list. It’s ver full featured and I love having a flashlight 🔦 built it. 👌
Battery Life... rockin' the Garmin Instinct 2x Solar and I charged it like 3 times in half a year. But Coros always tempts me.

Nicely done... I am still editing my final cut ;)
Looking forward to it!
Thanks for Video Matt @ 7:40
Will they release vertix 3 or not?
No idea 🤷🏻♂️ but that'd be my guess. Maybe a year or two from now based on their previous release schedules?
On Fujifilm cameras "S" just stands for (the) "second". These models usually have just a few minor changes to their predecessors.
Yeah, I think that’s the case here. Almost a Vertix 2.5. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@mlegrand You're welcome! 😁👍

I'd like to see Coros come up with GPS like " SatiQ " on Garmin. Maybe they can work on next FW update or next gen GPS chip. thanks for your vid .

Nice video! Does it just look like the suunto race is almost the same size as the Coros vertix 2s?
They do seem similar. I can measure it for you if you want more details?
@@mlegrandOh, no, that’s not necessary. But thanks for the answer!

It’s a bit tricky because ’S’ does indeed stand for small on the Garmin side of things. 🤦♂️
sorry to say but i think they are kidding people what does the heart rate sensor change anything $700 for nothing
Yeah, 700 is a lot and it’s also very competitive when you get to that price point. 😬

Only if it was cheaper price...
Good point. It's interesting. COROS crushes it when it's priced lower than the competition. (Pace 3 for example) Thanks for watching this one Jay!
I don't like new colors..the vertex 2 looks more rugged and cool with its polishy look
But I you’d probably like the more accurate heart rate sensor 👌
Will be nice to see Vertix 2 s vs Fenix 7 pro series. for me 165 is only an entry level watch. it does not comparable to the premium watch.
Yeah, that’s a good point. The high end watches are built extremely well. I love the flashlight 🔦 on the Fenix Pro!!!
