Dude, way to go and glad your scored the 2nd gen RingConn. I did the pre-order about a week ago for $1.00. Nice review, Matt 😎 I do not snore, and I am lucky enough to not have sleep apnea. Pretty cool that RingConn is augmenting their game. See a doctor? Yes, a fabulous recommendation.
Great comparison review. It appears, the Oura Ring (first of this kind) is falling behind quickly (...subscription model is helping kill its market share).
That’s one of my issues. It doesn’t really distinguish between workouts and daily wear. There is a ring called the Amazfit Helio that sorta tries to do this. But that doesn’t work super well either. I’d say be patient on the smart ring purchase. If you have a great watch and it’s comfortable, I’d hold off and see if Apple does something interesting at some point. Although Apple has its own lock in issues to consider as well. 😑
I tend to take a little too long to make videos and produce less content than some of the other channels out there. I don't think that's the 'best' way to grow a channel but I'm enjoying the way I'm doing things for now. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
@@oilindustri - Yeah, that is correct. I also coach a high school team of about 120 distance runners. Life is busy but good. Maybe some day the UA-cam stuff will pick up and I can focus on it a little bit more. It's super fun.

Yes, hold off. A lot of watches show similar metrics. Some people struggle to sleep with watches but it doesn’t bug me too much. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Actually, that's a good suggestion. 150 days is way more than enough. I very rarely travel for more than 2 weeks at a time. Maybe RingConn could offer a second smaller option? A bit more pocket sized?
Hey, thanks for the video. Could you try out the ring while swimming? I would love to see what stats you can get out of it, even though it doesn't have a swimming activity tracker
They gonna add paywall soon, maybe as ultra human, or different. CEO even mentioned that sleep apnea will be avaiable behind pay wall x). Having no subscription and not doing new accesories like watch, sugar meter etc... the company cannot survive, maybe if they release one ring every year but... We will see, atm am sad that they are not transparent about future pay walls.
Gret review. One thing I was thinking of was did you do any weight lifting with it on and the protective case? I know one Oura ring review said not to lift with it on I was wondering what it would feel like.
Yeah, the pledge thing is super weird. I’ve always received Kickstarter items when I’ve pledged but there’s no guarantee that they’ll get fully funded and then no guarantee on when you’ll get items. There is a risk for sure. 😬
For sleep, I don’t like to sleep with a watch on. Other than that , I agree a watch can do everything and usually better. The fitness aspects of the rings are not super great yet.
100% agree. And I don’t mind sleeping with a watch but some people really have a hard time with it. Although I haven’t seen sleep apnea tracking on any device yet.
Hello, I am new to the Ring product line. Does this particular series of smart rings provide blood pressure information? Additionally, is it possible to make payments using NFC technology with this ring?
Hi Matthew 👋, currently no smart ring products provide blood pressure information. If a watch or ring is saying that they do, I would be high suspicious of the brand. I also have not seen NFC payments on a ring. I have however seen that on a few smart watches. Apple Pay, Garmin Pay, Google Pay, etc. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I'd say that I personally prefer the UltraHuman at this point because of the notifications and suggestions but it's such a subtle difference. They basically track the same information. I agree that it's really hard to beat the price. I also really like the RingConn carrying case. I'd also haven't tested customer service between the two. That'd be interesting.
I’m not sure you need a smart ring if you’re comfortable with a decent smart watch. I personally feel like the Garmin data is a bit more accurate. Hard to say because I couldn’t export out data from this and compare it to a known good. 👍
It’s not as accurate as a chest strap and it’s not exactly designed to sync to activities. I’m also in the middle of reviewing a ring called the Amazfit Helio which does sync to an activity started on your smart phone. 🤷🏻♂️
I think it depends. The RingConn is more affordable and has a longer battery life but I do prefer the data and messaging on the UltraHuman Air ring. 🤷🏻♂️
@@Ciprful - It is really impossible to measure accuracy without being able to export specific heart rate for an activity into a format similar to something like .fit. I don't think I discussed accuracy in this video.
@@mlegrand I do not own any but I am on verge which one I should pick (as a newcomer, I conclude that it is a new hardware and could be more advanced, but if UH still leads in metrics of data and larger "coaching" health, I would rather pay extra for UH
I probably would save my money. The first gen does all of the important stuff. Unless you want the smaller form factor or just want a second ring option. That $209 is pretty remarkable.
I've found that marketing departments will claim that it's much more accurate than optical heart rate sensors on watches but in my experiences rings are not as accurate as watches for tracking heart rate in challenging environments. So it kind of depends. When sleeping or at rest, it's good. When playing tennis, for example, it'd be really really bad. But so would every other ring on the market.
I think the main difference is the size and styles of the new devices. This provides a lot of the same metrics but also provides sleep apnea detection. That being said, I'm wouldn't recommend upgrading unless you're really needing something in here that's new.
@@mlegrand Yes, I care about the number of apnea, as I use a Sepap device for night breathing. Is there that in the old ring or wait for the new version?
