Gotta have a strong core to build that kinetic chain. Thats what Wing Chun's Sil Lim Tau forces you to train such a goofy looking stance. Go for squats and deadlifts to get a more solid core.
Agreed. A true punch comes from all your body weight. That’s why a boxer’s punch is much different from a regular person’s arm punch . That is why it is technically illegal for a trained professional boxer to hit someone unles their life is in danger , because their hands are technically weapons . They can kill a average person with no gloves on who is not use to taking that type of blow . It will kill some boxers .
Mike Tyson said it once - leverage, speed, and the shoulder snap make the KO. And the punch you did not see coming. He punches so hard that people literally fly off when Mike lands. Even today, at 56, you see his whole body moves with explosion for the punch.
this exact video aged on me so well. i was 9 when i watched it originally starting judo and now im 18 and fighting with buddies in my backyard will never be the same. 1 vs 13 champion right here
If you want to see the absolute best boxer at taking advantage of the Kinetic Chain in history, nobody, and I mean nobody did it better than Mike Tyson at his prime. Every single bob and weave coiled his whole body to it's maximum, so when he unloaded, every single punch was fast, and a power punch. It's what made him such a dangerous heavyweight. He was one of the smallest, and was impossible to hit. And his coiled punches made him the hardest puncher in the ring with everyone he faced.
This is called the kinematic sequence, it can be applied to any sport, and is the way the human body can generate the most amount of speed. It is generally applied to golf, but when you break it down it can be applied to any athletic movement that requires generating as much speed and power as possible. The whip analogy is spot on, essentially turning your body into a whip.

Okay I'm convinced it is bullshit. You can catapult all your weight into a baseball throw like that but it is not how it is in boxing, and even then I'd imagine you will need to throw more of yourself side ways, not remain square with the lead leg in front stopping the momentum like in the video.
@@mohaastella if you don’t stop the momentum from leaking out of the front leg (knee) you are losing kinetic energy.
