Geoffrey Robertson LOL, No...I'm still working on it. I spend most of my gym time working on my back handspring and back tucks. I can only get about 5 tries of the front tuck on the spring floor before my shins are spent until next week so it's usually the last thing I practice before times up. For being 44 yrs old I think I'm doing OK. I'll try to get some vid and post next week...I will always accept constructive criticism .
Not yet, I missed a couple classes because my second grade daughter had a school musical last Thursday, I have norovirus tonight and I'm so weak I can't make class, and next week I'm on-call for work. I will do it and post it though. Thanks for the encouragement.
This is the best video ever, i knew how to do a front flip before but i realized I was doing it all wrong & hitting the ground early the smallest tips gave me amazing results i now know how to do a fronflip and its amazzzzzinnng
Man I've seen a lot of tutorials through years, and today I've seen yours. I must admit that yours are the best ones I've seen. You really explain the essence for doing flips and give very useful advices. Here, you have my subrscribe :)
you really do a great job in teaching someone you seem to have pateince for teaching people the way you talk it shows it. thanks for the tips also it will help me learn this better. Jim
Very informative video. Though I have to say that last flip where you landed on the side of the stack of mats looked like it hurt like hell and cut away just before you fell over, made me lose my shit. Everything else helped me tons though.
Thank you thank you so much i landed the highest i have ever landed since i started tricking no joke even your backflip tutorial i'm so happy i will all of your tutorials now
Thanks so much, you about to take my parkour game to another level every tutorial leaves out throwing you hips and butt back first to but almost done your flip already , I knew that's what I was missing.GAME TIME!
hey I have 2 questions for you, first I wanna let you know that I can do a standing front flip jumping from the ground and landing on a trampoline, 1st question: do you recommend me to try it on the ground? 2nd question: do you recommend me to try a double front flip on a trampoline?
Me too thunder striker it helped so much all the other vids weren't good and did not help but this was the best video on how to do a front flip on the whole of UA-cam
Just found your channel. Awesome! Showing us the basics. Master the basics and mastery comes later. 2 thumbs up. I will observe, apply and practice! Thanks!
man, thank you very much! i have never done a Flip in my live, i started doing it on a bed and i landed on my back, but now i do the whole round before landing on the bed, im goin to try it on ground soon :) Thanks buddy! :D
same, so what you can do is work your flexibility because it just helps so much with your balance and helps avoiding injuries. Or you can start up training to do kip ups until they are real neat, it helps getting comfortable with a part of the move (I know the kip up is very different as it starts on the ground and power is created differently but at least you dont risk falling straight on the head xD)
That was a great tutorial. I just recently learned to do a front flip. When you do them, even when you jump, the entirety of your rotation is at a fixed point in the air and you seem to land in roughly the same spot as you jumped from. When I do mine, I move from where I jump, and my rotation lasts all the way until I have landed, but I have landed in the tuck position that I flipped with and I end up about 8 feet away from the point of takeoff. Do I need to jump more vertically?
Hello, first of all thx for your great tutorial!!! one suggestion is that you can explain the movement detail like "KJER"(PICTURE+WORD). I THINK IT IS MORE EASY TO UNDERSTAND!!! THANKS:)))
@elhombre698 you are correct sir. The main point of the take off is to get you shoulders to rise up so you have your core muscles locked so they can throw your upper body in unison. The arms to ears method is just a way to help people practice that consistently. Once your body knows the correct body position you can tweak the trick for yourself and things like arms 100% vertical becomes less important. Nice catch though
Just a note but my front flip use to be terrible because I wouldnt tuck all the way, if you can already do the front flip but it still needs some work, I suggest finding something just a little lower then knee height and really start experimenting your tuck. The better your tuck is standing the better it will be running for it!
I do front flips running, or standing on a high object, but I didn't know it's possible to do it standing on the grond o.O P.S. Your tutorials are the best!
@xXTheFakeDeathXx im 6 feet tall, so roughly 183cm. being taller does make it more difficult, and you will learn usually at a slower rate than very small individuals. The difference is you will be able to bring more weight and power in your tricks which can be beneficial when used correctly. Takes lots of practice, just like anything else.
The danger of keeping your knees together is face-planting into them if you make a mistake and land while you're still tucked (e.g. Didn't spin fast enough to un-tuck before hitting the ground), or if you just tuck too hard with bad form and face-plant into your knees in mid-air. I try to tell people to start with the form that is least likely to cause problems/injury, even if it "MAY" not be the most efficient.
We I do front flips without running I basically do a forward jump (and keep my body in a 45 degree angle to the ground) and the moment I touch the ground I: 1.Jump with my feet and whip with arms up 2. Quickly whip my arm down and bend my knees 3. Quickly stretch my legs out (when you are better you don't need to do this quickly, at least for me)
Thankyou for the tutorial!! It helped me alot.. I lean forward instead of back lol.. Havent master it but So far im good just need to learn how to land.. The flip i got it right
i have beeen trying to do it since last year but i am too scared to do it..so every time i try and get tired without learning anything.....toooo badd but inhsalllah i will learn it one day. thanks for the video
One thing I heard from a gymnastics coach is to imagine you're trying to make your feet go over your head from behind, so you jump and then bring your feet up behind you over your head whilst tucking at the same time, it really helps with rotation
Easily the best tutorial on here man! Been looking at a few others on here and after 4 days practising im sticking the landing but when i land im in a deep squat position (not too good for my knees!) Well explained, thanks dude
Then start blocking (jumping with your feet ahead of the rest of your body) so that you almost land on the same spot you took off.. After you've reached your maximum height then just pull your arms in really quick to speed-up the rotation
i wanna go forward with my front flips because i wanna get over something or i'm jumping off something so how can i improve the height and go forward????
@fladragonme well as it is a weird feeling ( getting used to flippiong through the air) so its will take many many (25 -100s) of flips until your body starts to "Feel" the right spot to open. It is also amore difficult flip to land as you dont see the ground before you open, like in a back tuck. What did you mean by "im always very short before a face plant"? can you elaborate please.
hey i just have a little tip for you. you tend to open up little late. i don't mean to be the teacher here by any means but it might help you not to run forward to catch your self if you open up a little earlier so you rotate a touch less. just a tip
You need to tuck tighter and grab your legs just below your knees with your hands. I think you really good but u just untuck a little early. Hope this helps :)
Be creative! You can use a mattress, some blankets, or a foamie to practice. If there is a gymnastics gym around your area check to see if they ever have an open gym.
dude i did my first frontflip on grass with my first try it wasnt a goodone but it was still a frontflip .I was falling crouched and i thought this will be fixed with training but it didn't I STILL LAND crouched and I start getting pissed off with my frontflips i dont know what to do I cant take that much height but i do the tuck perfect any suggestions?
FRONT FLIP FUCKING LANDED thanks to all the tips and pointers from the guys in the gym and this vid as well, on the "pop your butt out" while in the air mode
Hi Justin, I realise our body physics look alike to an extent (though my legs are sexier hehe). Anyway, that's why I'm confident learning your style.... However, just to confirm - what's your weight / height? ... Also, Could some of those tutorials out in the field? I don't have convenient access to all those tramps and spring floors ; thanks buddy
I'm gonna try it Thursday at adult open gymnastics. If you don't see any more post from me I died trying.
Geoffrey Robertson LOL, No...I'm still working on it. I spend most of my gym time working on my back handspring and back tucks. jfisch01 Ok, well good luck!
Did it?
EXCELLENT TUTORIAL! Now I know why my front flips are always low. Thanks bro!
This is the best video ever, i knew how to do a front flip before but i realized I was doing it all wrong & hitting the ground early the smallest tips gave me amazing results i now know how to do a fronflip and its amazzzzzinnng
This was actually the most helpful video I've watched so far about Front flips. Thank you.
Finally a quick and comprehensive tutorial. Great job👍🏾

man, thank you very much! i have never done a Flip in my live, i started doing it on a bed and i landed on my back, but now i do the whole round before landing on the bed, im goin to try it on ground soon :) Thanks buddy! :D

Hello, first of all thx for your great tutorial!!!
one suggestion is that you can explain the movement detail
like "KJER"(PICTURE+WORD). I THINK IT IS MORE EASY TO UNDERSTAND!!!
THANKS:)))
ill try i have been looking at diffrent vidoes but i think i can do it thanks to u

I love u man, u saved my flip!!!
How a person can Dislike this ? This Video Is just Perfect
Justin, any chance you could do a straight front somersault tutorial? Thanks
THANKS YU ARE NO. ONE AFTER I WATCHED THIS I COULD ALREADY DO FRONTFLIPS AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF PRACTICE!!!
Just a note but my front flip use to be terrible because I wouldnt tuck all the way, if you can already do the front flip but it still needs some work, I suggest finding something just a little lower then knee height and really start experimenting your tuck. I do front flips running, or standing on a high object, but I didn't know it's possible to do it standing on the grond o.O
P.S. Your tutorials are the best!
how long does it take to learn a decent front flip? been drilling them almost every day for a few months but i keep landing on my heels in the landing
@xXTheFakeDeathXx im 6 feet tall, so roughly 183cm. being taller does make it more difficult, and you will learn usually at a slower rate than very small individuals. The difference is you will be able to bring more weight and power in your tricks which can be beneficial when used correctly. Takes lots of practice, just like anything else.
punching on hard ground hurts, do you guys ever do your fronts by stepping lightly into them?
The danger of keeping your knees together is face-planting into them if you make a mistake and land while you're still tucked (e.g. Didn't spin fast enough to un-tuck before hitting the ground), or if you just tuck too hard with bad form and face-plant into your knees in mid-air. @Phobzi thanks. i have one coming out soon. i think arash will release it in the next week or so
Thanks man! Definitly going to order them :)
dude, great explanation!
Thank you so much. I can finally do it after 2 weeks
Can you tell me where i can get those foam blocks you have in your pit thing?
We I do front flips without running I basically do a forward jump (and keep my body in a 45 degree angle to the ground) and the moment I touch the ground I:
1.Jump with my feet and whip with arms up
2. Quickly whip my arm down and bend my knees
3. Quickly stretch my legs out (when you are better you don't need to do this quickly, at least for me)
Sèna Gangbè you don't stretch your knees right away when you do the steps and your in the air bring your butt up and your head down
StaryPlayz i never said that i stretch my knees tho
Awesome tutorial man! Now I'm going to hurt my self :)

Easily the best tutorial on here man! Been looking at a few others on here and after 4 days practising im sticking the landing but when i land im in a deep squat position (not too good for my knees!) Well explained, thanks dude
Wow, okay, so there's a whole science to this!
That looks like so much fun
cool! this is a good tutorial (quite a lot on youtube are not nearly as good)
Then start blocking (jumping with your feet ahead of the rest of your body) so that you almost land on the same spot you took off.. After you've reached your maximum height then just pull your arms in really quick to speed-up the rotation
This helped I’m going to try at open gym
How tall are you? is 180cm of height a problem to do the flips?? thanks and a very good tutorial:d

hey i just have a little tip for you. you tend to open up little late. i don't mean to be the teacher here by any means but it might help you not to run forward to catch your self if you open up a little earlier so you rotate a touch less. just a tip

Do you know where I could find Justin?

What's the music at the end called? If it's yours can you please upload it?
very good tutorial sir.....,,
Thanks...Imma use it when I dance.
@THExMPDx close enough. i shoulder rolled out, but i definitely was not expecting the janky landing that followed that flip
Thanks for the video man! NEver thought of throwing my butt up first, I'll give it a shot. :)
Me too
i have the form pretty good but i over rotate .. when should i untuck
if i practice enough what can be the least time i can learn it well(in hard land).
dude i did my first frontflip on grass with my first try it wasnt a goodone but it was still a frontflip .I was falling crouched and i thought this will be fixed with training but it didn't I STILL LAND crouched and I start getting pissed off with my frontflips i dont know what to do I cant take that much height but i do the tuck perfect any suggestions?

FRONT FLIP FUCKING LANDED thanks to all the tips and pointers from the guys in the gym and this vid as well, on the "pop your butt out" while in the air mode
I'm going to try it.
what is the difference between front somersault and a front flip?
Wow thx this really helped ^^
Thax can't wait to try it!!!!!!
