Happy almost Friday everyone! Both the Tahoe and Suburban are the most popular large SUV's in America and when you want the most space and capability with best-in-class efficiency, the diesel powered Suburban is still among the best. Be sure to watch our separate review on the Tahoe as well and we should be driving the new Yukon sometime early next year.
Great vehicle. I find the front bench seat appealing, and because the interior is well-equipped even in LS trim, it doesn't appear to come at a penalty.
For sure! The Chevrolet Suburban is like the ultimate family SUV. It’s got tons of space for passengers and cargo, which makes it perfect for road trips or just everyday life. Plus, it has a strong engine and can tow quite a bit if you need it to.
For the price point heated/ventilated seats should be standard on all the Suburban trims except maybe the base. Looks great, would love to see an HD version with the big Duramax. As popular as the old Excursion still are they’d definitely sell.
Thank you for commenting on the lack of ventilation seats on that trim at the price point. I’d love the z71 trim but it doesn’t offer ventilation seats. Really annoying
kislux You are so well-informed about luxury accessories and bags. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much.
@5:21 - you point out that these are the 18" specific wheels for the Z71 package. @5:28 - you make note that these are the 275/60R20 Goodyear Wrangler tires. How does that work?
About pricing. My understanding is that in 2024 GM wanted $995 for the Duramax. Now, in 2025 they want almost $6,000 for the engine!!! I know they went from the LM2 to the LZ0 but that's a lot of money.
And the oil pump has a belt and not a chain so GM requires you to change it at 150,000 miles. It's $3,000 to do as the trans and transfer case must come out. So, no gas savings.
Chevy needs to come out with a 3.0 twin turbo diesel or a 4.0 v8 diesel. Why is this engine not available in the other smaller suv models? It would make more sense to put this engine in other models as well.
Might be as long as an excursion but interior space is way less and the excursion was a 3/4 ton. I’m holding onto hope the excursion will make a comeback with a 6.7.
My dealer is telling me the z71 suburban with diesel is not gonna offer the adaptive air ride suspension. Did I hear you say they do offer it? We need it to auto level when pulling a small horse trailer.
I am pretty sure that is the cypress gray - not the dark ash gray. That's a whoops. Hey, we all make mistakes. Great video and I am a long time subscriber. Keep up the good work.
Probably due to the total weight regulations... Since the diesel engine is heavier it takes away from the available payload and their gross vehicle weight rating...
Sofyan! If you're still in Dallas, why not arrange a fan meetup? I've been a fan for almost a decade and would love to pose a photo with one of the top automotive journalists on UA-cam!
For huge full size suv, diesel should be standard, it's durable, great fuel economy and the torque is always there when you need it. Even you submerge that thing in the water it would not die it's almost Buller proof that's my experience with toyota diesel engine I'm not sure with other brand.

They sell so much more of these SUVs at high prices. Essentially the GM triplets are huge money makers. Camaro hardly sold enough to pay for its own existence.
GM, for the love of all that is holy, please stop mixing black and chrome badging! It tarnishes an otherwise great looking vehicle. Make it all one or the other.
I don’t get why some automakers make an offroad version of these long wheelbase SUVs. They are bad for anything beyond light offroading. Thats why the best off-roader SUVs have short wheelbases. Its going to be crap driving this in a real offroad conditions where articulation & departure angles are important.
I had a 2003 yukon denali xl. Was lifted and had big chunky tires. The thing would get hung up in the middle if I was going through multiple holes in a row because it was so damn long.
Huge, but not what I like. I have a 2018 Equinox with a diesel and it is *extremely* fuel efficient. Alas, the transmission died a bit over 150k miles so I don't think Chevy can build a transmission as reliable as the Opel engine it uses. I dig diesels, but not big cars.
There is no way in hell I would ever buy a newer diesel engine in the United States. The EPA has ruined the diesel as a power plant with all the regulations now in place. Unless you like constant visits to the mechanic, stick with the 6.2 or 5.3 gasser.
What are SUVs anymore? This is more "truck" than anything. In regards to storage space, you could get a 2015 Sienna and have about 150 cubic ft of storage (M/R seats removed). Or a 2025 Odyssey with about the same, give or take. Like Sofyan mentioned. All while spending at least $25-35k less at their highest trim levels. "144 cubic ft of space is on par with minivans in the segment so you want to go for the Surburban just because it gives you all this space and flexibility." I mean yes, for the large, high-profile SUV segment, but minivans STILL beat them at least when comparing storage. Yes, you don't get all the hp. Yes, you don't get the "massive" towing capability. Yes, you don't get the "stylish" and "aggressive, off-road fascia." No, you won't probably go offroading with it. I am hoping that a prospective buyer getting an $80k pavement princess will either use the maximum capacity or tow heavy stuff regularly. "You choose the car suitable for your lifestyle, not the lifestyle you want to have."
