Potato harvest was awesome this year. My brother and brother in law drove trucks hauling potatoes and when done they hauled corn. They are done now for the season. They both are in the 70's and the 13/14 hour days were hard but they made it.
Lefty, Lefty, Lefty what are we going to do with you buddy. I do think in the beginning of this video he was saying, Why do you humans have to have coffee in the morning? 😂😂😂 Finally glad to see this beet process. Good to see you both and Bear too. ❤❤❤
You can make an appointment and take dog to a vet clinic, it can wait until you have down time. Dog is fine. You have to work, you need the funds in your bank.
This was my first year working the beet harvest. I was in the Drayton yard and lucky enough to have the morning shift. The weather was incredible. It definitely is an experience!

Hello David. You had great weather. I am about 250 miles SE of where you were. We got 3 inches of snow on Halloween. That was nothing compared to the storm of 1991 when I think the storm total was 31 inches on Halloween. Few people know this but the storm in the movie The Perfect Storm with Mark Wahlberg and George Clooney was the same storm. That sucker went from the middle of the Dakotas all the way in the Atlantic ocean. Funny thing is it all melted and we got just a little smaller amount of snow over the Thanksgiving holiday. Sure glad that first bunch melted. Looking forward to part 2 and glad you made it to Quartzsite and can recover. I have heard the harvest is a ton of work and long hours.

I'm glad I get time with pets in my family, but don't own one myself anymore. Best of both worlds. If I wanted a companion, I'd find a woman. More fun, more interesting, no vet bills, and no need to be with them until they die, unless you feel like it.

The beet harvest reminds me of my summers working in Alaska for the Salmon season -- get in and work 12-18hr days, 7 days/wk for a few weeks, then get out and sleep for a 2 days straight to recover. Of course that was in my 20's, not sure would stand it for even a week now. :)
My daughter was in the same camp ground during the 2023 sugar beet harvest red ford truck and white cargo/camper conversion. If you need a onan generator for your rig I have one I salvaged from a RV it’s yours no charge
Yes! She was parked on the other side of the road about 30' from us :) I wish I had space for an onboard Onan - I'd take that in a minute if I did. Thank you for that offer :)

I hope you grabbed a few to boil up for yourself, nothing better than fresh beets with some butter and salt and the beet tops can be boiled up to make a tasty sweet green veggie that kind of has the texture of cooked spinach. The sugar beet harvest seems like a great way to make a lot of money in a short time but boy is it grueling!! Whew! Thank for sharing that. My heart went out to poor Lefty -- he's such a daddy's boy, it's really hard for him to be alone for so long while you're working. His breed has such separation anxiety. I don't need to work the harvest and next year, if you're interested (and if the harvest would allow), I would be happy to barter with you to come out and keep the sweet boy company while you work. (I got my rig yesterday!! Wasn't able to find an ambulance but got an extended shuttle bus with the Ford 7.3L Powerstroke diesel engine. Hope to be hitting the road late July.)

I just went through the same thing with my similar size dog (77 lbs). $300 later... The vet anesthetized her, cleaned it well, cut and polished all her nails very very short, 5 days pain killers, and 14 days antibiotics. I feel it was my fault for not keeping her nails short enough. She now is fine.
You are a good daddy (as am I). Not placing blame in your case, but I certainly take the blame for my little girl. She broke the nail when she caught it on the edge of my shoe! I felt horrible and though she is very difficult to trim nails, I will seek outside help every few weeks! @@TheCampulanceMan

I didn't realize MN was so flat. That truck with the flowers, etc was really pretty. Poor Lefty, guess he's all over it by now but it must have been painful. I wonder how many tons of beets are harvested there.
My site supervisor said that as long as he didn't get any complaints then I'd be OK. Cleaning up the waste is the most important thing (and taking it with us) and never letting him take a whizzer near the pile.
@@exploringnext1111 Oh that's too bad. It may depend on the site supervisor - ours was OK with dogs and a lot of people had them. They didn't want to lose any people cause we had just enough to run the site.

I refer to it as the Michael Jackson disease. Causes me no harm or symptoms other than that skin has no color in it. Anyways, can't wait for part two. Very glad y'all are safe and secure there.

That tanning thing or lack of pigment in the skin is the only symptoms of my vitalago. But it doesn't bother me in the least to be "spotted". When people ask me about it I just tell them I suffer from the Michael Jackson desease. Stay safe and well my friend.
@@brianmoore4299 I take a medication that keeps it from appearing - I've been using it for years now, injections every 2 weeks like an epi pen. Thank goodness they have the meds for it :)

When I was working in food and hospitality, I had to pass a food safety test every couple of years, and a human resources sexual harassment video upon initial hiring. Not objecting, it's just kind of weird that it's considered necessary.

Well, he ruined some things but after several days he calmed down and I was able to visit him every 1.5hrs for 30 minutes.

How much lift is in your airbags? Do you think you could install them in such a way as to level the rig driver/passenger if you needed a few inches?
I'm not sure what their total lift is. I've had them to 40# for the bike - they can go up to 100#.

Once I got my routine down, it was a no thought process. Our foreman recommended me to be a foreman if I wanted to :)

You should be trimming or having Leftys nails trimmed at least once a month if not more to keep the quik back. Not sure if you are doing this. 🤔
His nails usually self trim from all of our hiking. I've taken him in for trimming and been told they weren't needing it :)

How often do you need to add air to your air bags on the Ambulance.
I've added it twice in the last year to adjust it for the bike / no bike. They've held within a couple pounds.

Same thing happened to my dog once and I feel your pain. I was more concerned than the dog and as you now know, it just grows back.

I used a lot of diesel just driving the 11 miles to work and back. A lot of idle warm up time and a lot of running the diesel heater :/

This is NW Minnesota which borders ND and SD...the plains states....most of MN is rolling hills and/or lots of trees and lakes.

No, I have psoriasis and used to have spots of it on my knuckles before medication. Now they don't tan like the rest of me :/

That sore on Lefty happened to Luke my pitty two months ago, almost the same place. I put anti biotic suave on it every day. Like a hotspot.
He gets into all the bushes and every once and a while he gets some kind of reaction to some I think. They always heal up... he's just sensitive :)
