I've said it before, but the fact that the creators had these complex plots in a kids show is what makes it great. The fact that they can challenge children to understand them which my siblings and I understood along with being enjoyable to adults as well.
Blasian62 they didn't treat the kids like idiots but they also didn't treat them like miniature adults, which Is difficult for most shows to get the right balance between

I don't know if you guys noticed but, the couple that Team Avatar traveled with was seen before in the episode "Zuko Alone". Zuko was going to steal their food but, decided not to when he saw they were pregnant. 23:34 and yes, the Mechanist from the Northern Air Temple designed the drill. You can see it's design in that episode. I make videos about Avatar, if anyone is interested.
Small request to Suraj or the current editor, can you please add a "This is not a kid's show" counter? I drink my beverage every time Nahid says it. :)
Avaneir Benchoz that would be so nice if it was her it shows she got over it and found anew man and started one big family I think its another lady though
Did anyone recognize Ying and her husband from Zuko Alone? They were at the beginning of the episode when Zuko considered stealing food from them before he saw that the man had a pregnant wife and went on his way?
At 10:48 If you pause the video, you'll see that zuko uses the other side of the sword to slide down. This implies the fact that the other side of a sword is always more blunt. The details in this show are crazy❤️❤️
The ending is one of the best Avatar episode endings. I remember how it felt when I saw it for the first time. Episode is ending in that beautiful scene with beautiful music. But then... a gigantic drill is moving towards the wall! Frelling awesome!
Iroh broke through the wall. His siege of Ba Sing Se didn't fail - during the almost two year siege, the Earth Kingdom army never actually defeated him. He willingly stopped the siege after the death of his son Lu Ten. If his mindset had been more like Ozai's, he would have successfully taken the city fairly soon after.
AWWW MY GAWD-AH! SURAJ IS SO ADORABLE! Every video he out cutes himself haha... THAT LITTLE JINGLE and dance he shared with Rana was just precious! Xoxo love both of them
These Avatar videos are the best of The Normies. Other videos are also good, but Rana, Suraj, Micky, Nahid are a great group together. And Navi too. :)
Just realized when Uncle Iroh lay siege to Ba Sing Se or something, he and his group was like the Mongolians trying to get over the wall (kinda like the story on Mulan) like the wall of China or called the Great Wall.
the Serpent's Pass alludes to it when they are walking, and the Drill is the 'project' they've been working on on that side of the Pass that gets revealed in the 'The Drill'. in it's original airing the episodes were put together as 'the Secret of the Fire Nation'
That's what it's called on Amazon Prime. 12. The Secret of the Fire Nation Aang and the group escort a group of refugees to Ba Sing Se through the deadly "Serpent's Pass." There they discover a monstrous plot by the Fire Nation that threatens the city! TV-Y7 CC Language: English Runtime: 47 minutes Release date: September 15, 2006
Just the way they did the whole Sokka Zuki thing with the moon watching over them was brilliant. Never picked that up back in 07 or whatever. What a show.
When I watched Avatar when it was airing, I remember that scene with Aang becoming hopeful again to be a little beyond me, if I'm being honest. Granted, I think these moments flew over the heads of several naive 11 year olds like me, but now, 10 years or so later, I connect with these moments far more than I ever could. Now, this scene makes me tear up, because it's so emotionally real. (; u :)
You guy's notice that the pregnant couple was the same couple that Zuko was going to rob in the episode call Zuko alone? Then he realized she was pregnant, Just a fun fact.
Potential reasons why Katara didn't make the ice bridge in first place: 1) She may have overheard Suki saying "Rumour has it that the Fire Nation is building something big on the other side and they didn't want anyone to know about it." They are in a war so they have to be discrete as possible plus they were already caught by the Fire Nation ship just now. Going underwater seemed like the best option not to get caught by the Fire Nation. 2) Walking a long way on ice like that is dangerous much less maybe slippery. No one taught of ice skates in this universe yet. Besides, Toph cannot feel where she's going if on ice so Katara may have thought of that. Plus, Team Avatar is escorting refugees with one being a pregnant lady so Katara may have thought of safety. If Team Avatar were on their own, they may have come up with other solutions. No one knew of the serpeant's existence yet. Important to note: 1. No one who doesn't know any better may think the Serpent's pass is called due to its long and narrow rocky mountain path. When in fact, there's an actual giant serpeant. If the GAang/Team Avatar knew this, they would probably be more on guard and taught of other options. 2. It was not mention before if Toph knew how to swim so it was unclear if Team Avatar especially Katara knew that prior. If she did know that info, that's why she may have built the water aquarium bubble so Toph will still be able to 'see' thus bend earth cause their feet are still on solid ground. Nonetheless, this works well cause imagine the serpent bursts through the ice bridge if they did that idea from the start. Toph won't be able to do anything as seen in the canon! Katara and the rest will also still be panicking in shock so reaction time may not be there to get them safely across which was also seen in the canon. Hence, in an ironic way, it was wise of Katara to do the Acquarium bubble because in that way only Toph could 'see' and think clearly and calmly when everyone else was panicking. Finally, it is also common knowledge they forgot she is blind thus she needs help when crossing the ice bridge. Effectively leaving her behind and everyone is afraid of the serpeant (and dying) thus maybe that's why Sokka didn't just run across the ice bridge to get Toph. Overall, they are just kids using creative and critical thinking to get through. People's ideas are not perfect so there's bound to be flaws. At least Katara tried to offer a solution when no one else did. Aang and/or Toph could have raised the seafloor (maybe not yet strong enough for Aang who's just learning Earthbending) but Aang is in such a state so he may not be in right frame of mind to think clearly. Toph may be inexperienced in situational tests of thinking like this or simply did not think of that idea first. But maybe fighting and reaction speed situations like the man falling and rocks falling to Sokka, that part Toph is an expert because she is the Blind Bandit fighting for a long time in a ring so that part of her skillset is hone. To add on to Aang, he could have also airbend or waterbend them the other side but he didn't because again he was not in right frame of mind. This was made clear when Katara said "Aang I need help." This may be to get Aang to be useful, helpful and thinking. Cause Aang could have offered his help even before Katara suggests it. Like us, they are also humans who make mistakes or could probably better thought things through. They are still learning and growing just like all of us in our world. No one is at fault.
7:14 The House of Bei Fong is practically the Earth Kingdom's equivalent to the Lannisters. Ridiculously wealthy and powerful, and their symbol can be recognized throughout the land.
A nice detail about season 2 is the creators snuck in a lot of references from the very early ideas of Avatar, and from the pilot episode. For Example, in "Return to Omashu" the battle scene on top of the fire lord Ozai statue is from the pilot. Additionally, here in "The Serpents Pass" the serpent monster is also from the pilot and they snuck it into this episode. I think they wanted to sneak it into season 1 with the Kyoshi Island episode but it would have been too hard to animate so they went with the elephant koi instead.
17:42 Sokka got Suki a warrior, Da fakin moon yue, Ty lee the taijutsu boss and Toph the blind princess that is both fragile and tough. He can't bend elements but he can bend the game
HYPED for The Drill Next Episode This episode is a little slow best about it is we get Suki back the whole pregnant woman calling her baby a special name like Hope(like thats not a common name) just to be a very on the nose lesson to Aang to be hopeful even with Appa gone feels very forced
Cabbages guy! xD Always funny xD That lady is sort of right, though. In a closed off area (be it a high security city or an island or something), such things, even though small, can cause trouble to the overall ecosystem if not carefull enough. Toph is so cool there at the pasport scene. 'These three imbeciles' xD I had to look twice too with Suki. I didn't recognize her immediately either xD I love how Katara, Aang and Toph help and take over when needed while they crossed that water part. First, Katara creates a bubbles, then realizes the water goes deeper than she tought so she needs Aangs help. Aang gives his staff to Toph and helps Katara. Then the shadow in the water spookes everyone, Katara and Aang panic and stop bending. Then Toph takes over and earthbends them out to the surface and gives he staff back to Aang :3 And again, I like waterbending most! It is so freaking versatile and practical and you can do so much different things with it! Serpent gecko? I had to think of a serpent sea horse thing :) 'Oh, Ghehe. You can go ahead and let me drown now..' x'D Katara and Aang differ 2 years. That's not much. 12 and 14. If anything, Aang is a bit 'young' to really be in love, that mostly starts at like 16 but is does happen. They also live in a world where love and marriage happens at younger age than in our modern time/world so that might also play a part with the views of the viewers towards them.
I feel like Aang did kill the buzzard - it's a lot darker than first glance. He just lost Appa, the only one who was with him before the Iceberg. He was so furious he went back on his vegetarian, all-life-is-sacred worldview.
Just to explain why they called the episode a different name on the video: Episodes 2x12 and 2x13 were aired together and this double-part special was called The Secret of the Fire Nation, these aren't the actual name of the episodes, however in some places (and I asume, the place were they are watching it) both are listed with that name. If I remember correctly, 2x10 and 2x11 were also aired as a double-part special (called The Fury of Aang).

I feel like Aang did kill the buzzard - it's a lot darker than first glance. He just lost Appa, the only one who was with him before the Iceberg. He was so furious he went back on his vegetarian, all-life-is-sacred worldview.
This show can make you emotional at times.

I'm watching this at the end of 2018 and you guys totally predicted the Netflix live adaptation 👍
Damn, this editing is hilarious! XD blink and you could miss the 'swiper no swipey "awe mannnn!"
Just to explain why they called the episode a different name on the video:
Episodes 2x12 and 2x13 were aired together and this double-part special was called The Secret of the Fire Nation, these aren't the actual name of the episodes, however in some places (and I asume, the place were they are watching it) both are listed with that name.
If I remember correctly, 2x10 and 2x11 were also aired as a double-part special (called The Fury of Aang).
The camera edits essentially "roasting" Nahid will never not be funny
5:45 But there aren't any Fire Nation soldiers trying to sneak in and attack from the inside of the city.
I love that Cabbage Man became a local legend.
guys no episode was titled secrets of the firenation - this two parter was called journey to BaSing Se
