I’m not sure what exactly Toph hates more. Being told she’s blind and helpless all the time or constantly reminding her friends that she *is* blind because she’s so competent and independent. Lol
Something i just realized. 1. Toph meets Iroh in "the chase" 2. "What about the dragon of the west? He got in" 3. Later she introduces iroh as an old friend. She didnt know that iroh and the dragon of the west were the same guy. If she did, she would have had her guard up knowing hes fire nation. She met a legendary soldier, a great warrior that she has been taught about. And she didnt even know.
Azula doesn't get excited this episode because the drill isn't her project. She's just overseeing the attack. She has confidence in her own abilities and plans. That's when you see the evil glint in her eye.
The original design for the drill was seen in the episode "The Northern Air Temple". It was on one of the mechanist's blueprints. The War Minister was also there, as the guy who made him design it. It was built for the sole purpose of getting into Ba Sing Se. And it was designed after real tunnel-boring drills.
I love how they kinda poked fun at him for saying it before in season 1, but Sokka truly did become the leader. The tactician. The glue, even. I'd venture to say Sokka, aside from Aang as the Avatar, is the most important member of Team Avatar
That’s an interesting take. I’d say they’re all equally important, even Aang. He wouldn’t be where he is without Katara steadying him and teaching him waterbending. He wouldn’t be learning earthbending and patience without Toph. They all teach each other, support each other, and at different times are the glue that holds the team together.
@@poogie_ well yes, sure. But Sokka is the only one who can be absent and the rest of them are completely unsure of what to do without him. Aang learning from Toph and Katara was extremely important, but without Sokka, those two things would have been irrelevant. All the power in the world is ineffective without a plan. It's Sokka who knew when and where to apply the individual strengths of the team as a whole.
@@nicholaswilkerson4394 not going against ur point but in this episode sokka plan gets them pretty far, but then they get stuck and tophs teachings to aang is what inspires aang to come up with the plan to take down the drill. So it really is full teamwork
@xL.420x I'm not disagreeing. They all have value, and they are all important. My point wasn't to downplay everyone else's contributions, but to point out the import of Sokka specifically. Yes, they are each important and they all bring something valuable to the table. But only Sokka can accurately be described as the leader. He is essentially the Captain America AND the Iron Man of his group. The idea guy, and also the plan guy. Yes, he takes cues and ideas from everyone else as well, but that's part of what makes him such a good leader. The best leaders know when to follow, and they take advice and consult from their team.
6:28 Something you might not guess at a glance: Irohs favorite tea is ginseng, not jasmine. Jasmine is ZUKOS favorite tea. This is one of Irohs ways of trying to remind Zuko of the boy he used to be before he was scorned and banished. Same goes with trying to get him to play the tsungi horn. Puts some perspective on what hes ACTUALLY crying over here.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but Zuko doesn’t give a shit about tea. He disparages it constantly throughout the show. However, you are right that Iroh’s favorite tea is ginseng…in book 1. This gets kind of retconned in book 2, where he says jasmine is his favorite.
I don't know if anyone has said this but when Avatar aired, it was usually 2 episodes at a time so its funny rewatching these with new reactors because my memory remembers some of these episodes as just 1. These last episodes of Book 2 are really great, looking forward to this!
Dirt and water mixed together is called "slurry". Slurry is a real thing, even though it sounds made-up. Slurry pipelines move the excavated dirt out of the drill.
Azula could've easily and much more quickly just knocked over the rock wedge rather than trying to snipe Aang who was going 700mph and completely missing 😂
Do you notice that Ty Lee's personality is very different from the other Fire Nation people? There is a lot of speculation that she is descended from air nomads who chose to hide from the Fire Nation in the Fire Nation.
The "muscley guys" are known as the "Terra Team". The word "terra" refers to the earth or ground. It makes sense because the "Terra Team" are all earthbenders.
It’s actually such an important part when Mai refuses to get into the slurry with Ty Lee. Quote: "She can shoot all the lightning she wants at me, I'm not going into that wall sludge juice." It excellently foreshadows Azula’s loss of control over people who stop being afraid of her.
@@Diegesis In case you need to know: The TRUE 2-parters remaining (assuming you’re past S2 now) are The Day Of Black Sun S3 E10-11. And The Boiling Rock S3 E14-15. And then the finale is 4 episodes, S3 E18-21. But those episode numbers might be wrong based on Netflix’s weirdness. Hope that helps.
This is another example why you should put out the episodes earlier in this season and the 3rd season it just keeps getting better and it will take weeks for you to out out the rest of season 2
Yeah, I get that. Zoomer patience. It's not a virtue. But they don't schedule around people's lack of patience. I don't mind waiting weak to weak because that's how we originally got it, but I do think they should double up for some episodes, especially the last 4.
Yeah but from here on out the episodes are so good and they should focus on watching and uploading the episodes it is to good of a show to be watching other movies and shows on the same day of watching episodes
Yeah, that's not how any of this works. Not even sure I agree with the premise. It just sounds like you want them to focus on this show because it's what you, personally, are interested in. That's not impatience. That's just kinda being selfish.
Good episode and reaction! I always liked this episode but I've also heard a lot of people found it boring. Now we are finally in Ba Sing Se. The Ba Sing Se episodes are some of my most favorite of the series. I particularly love "City of Walls and Secrets."
