Did anyone notice that the play never even mentioned General Zhao? They replaced him with Zuko in the blue spirit scene. Zhao wanted to be remembered in history, but he wasn’t even remembered a few months later.
Hnem Hnem I think the fire nation still view him as a war hero and didn't want to sully his reputation by saying the blue spirit got the best of him. So they used Zuko instead. And they did have a little doll of him in the play...so there's that. O_o
Ohh, that makes sense! They blamed that on Zuko since he's considered an enemy of the nation and it was propaganda to make him seem like he was already incompetent even before his "betrayal"
Hnem Hnem I read all the comments here and I just realized everyone was dumb to not realized how the fuck the writer of that play knew all the happenings Aang and the other characters went through? Yeah, it was pretty much The Boulder desing overall (another fun fact, the creators wanted Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to give the voice to The Boulder, but unfortunately he couldn't do it so they had Mick Foley do the voice insted..... Witch in my opinion was a better choice).
It also implies that all first-hand accounts that were defeated by Toph in battle probably told the playwriters that she was a big buff dude, because they didn’t want to admit they got beaten by a little girl.
What I love about this epsiode is that it's basically a "previously" for the finale, but instead of doing an episode full of clips or flashbacks, they made the recap a parody. TheJudoJoker Also Dante Basco and Mae Whitman (Katara) also worked together on another kids show before Avatar. You may remember it as American Dragon: Jake Long.
I expected the funniest thing in this episode to be the actual show; turns out the most entertaining part was watching Rana eating White Castle and trying not to gag.
16:08 everytime you watch this show you find something new to appreciate. At this moment everybody looks at Zuko except Toph, who cannot read facial expressions. I love this show.
Easily one of the funniest episodes of the whole series and a nice in between from bloodbending to the finale. I actually think the Zutara scene in the play was a jab at the Zutara shippers coz it was never gonna happen XD
In the original script, there were no pairings at all in the end of book 3...and I found it childish to have this forced mess in the end. Just my opinion...
+Fire Fly I have no idea where you could have gotten that information from. But I will tell you this, according to creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, they always planned on having Aang and Katara get together at the end of the series. So I don't know how you can say that the original script had no pairings at the end of Book 3 when the creators are on record as saying they intended for these two to be the ultimate end goal.
WAMatt i feel like the order for me goes: real episode > filler episode > clipshow for most TV shows but avatar actually did theirs right and i really enjoyed this episode more than some of the fillers like Nightmares and Daydreams
But it literally is not a clipshow. A clipshow shows CLIPS of the SHOW. This was a funny mostly filler episode. It fits within canon but it also is just a fun episode that goes nowhere really.
Everyone's reaction to the part where actor Azula shoots Aang with lightening. Katara looks at Zuko, frowns and folds her arms. Sokka looks down on Zuko and frowns. Toph folds her arms and closes her eyes (even if she can't see). Zuko covers his face in shame, knowing Aang could have died and it'd be his fault.
Hahahahaha Rana's face when she took the first bite: "What is this? It doesn't just smell like butt, it even tastes like it. Why am I doing this? But wait. I'm gonna take another bite just to see if it's really that bad. Ohhhh no. BAD DECISION! BAD DECISION!"
Sa ad I don't know if this is a common thing but if I smell my food and the smell seems even slightly of I think it automatically sets my taste buds to not like and reject it even if it actually tastes fine. Not sure if this is whats happening here with her but the other guys are injoying it just fine.
Korra is fine. It's just sometimes bizarre to me because I usually avoid the dramatic/soap-opera-type/relationship-based shows, and Korra is that kind of show. It's definitely still worth it to watch for the non-relationship stuff. Also, off-topic and spoilers. I hate Tenzins character. I have no idea why no one ever says that they hate Tenzin. They always say they hate Korra though. I pretty much got blindsided from how much I hate Tenzin because no one ever criticizes him. Maybe it's because Tenzin is Aang's son so they're more forgiving, but I find him unbearable. Maybe he'll get better in Season 3 (still watching S2).
this episode is one of the best of the series, and also one of the funniest. it works because the play satirizes the characters by making one aspect of their personalities the main focus. you can tell it's them, because that aspect is familiar, but you know it's a satire because that's not all they are. katara is hopeful and tends to give speeches, but she's also strong and compassionate. sokka is a jokester, but he's also resourceful and a natural tactician. aang is a prankster, but he's also burdened by being the last one of his kind, being the avatar, and he's also kind-hearted and mostly honest. toph is tough, but she's also sweet and funny. zuko is worried about his honor a lot, but he loves his uncle and struggles with doing the right thing. legend of korra tries to do a similar thing, but it works less well because you can't satire one-dimensional characters. there's nothing to satire. and legend of korra is nothing but one-dimensional, even if it dresses that one-dimensionality with trauma imagery and political discussions.
The reasons why they couldn't do the same with Korra is because: 1. It would be way too repetitive to do it the exact same way. 2. The show's budget was drastically cut by Nickelodeon. The creators were given an ultimatum, either fire a good chunk of their staff in order to produce a legitimate episode, or keep everyone and produce an episode as cheaply as possible. The creators, not wanting to treat their staff like complete shit like Nick treated them, kept everyone on and did a pretty run of the mill clip show, with only 5 minutes of new animation in order to save money. In the bind they were in, it's very understandable why Korra's "Remembrances" doesn't reach the heights of Avatar's "Ember Island Players," everything was going against it.
This episode is definetly one of my personal favorites of the ENTIRE series. It´s so brilliant! It´s essentially a series recap, that works itself INTO the story, showing not only the team´s reaction to their journey, but also the villians interpretation of their story. AND this episode has so much self-reflection: Leaving out "The great divide", tons of inside jokes, mentioning the controvercy about jet´s death and making fun of their own charakter tropes. Simply amazing and brilliant! PS: Still, this play is much, much better and more faithful than the disaster by Shyamalan... Also: FINALE HYPE!!!
It doesn't taste like a normal burger but it isn't horrible food inherently. White Castle burgers are dependent on the persons tastes after all it is basically all onion so if you don't like those you will hate it. Also the initial impression will usually be bad since before tasting it you would have to smell it and those burgers don't smell like food.
Eric Rodriguez there’s a lot of states where White Castle doesn’t exist. Unless you’re in the northeast or the west coast there’s a good chance u don’t know what White Castle is
LadyVenom Way its really good actually just looks weird cause its a square patty. That probably grossed her out. Ive never had FRESH white castle either because i live in california, but ive had the ones you can cook at home that are frozen which werent bad. I imagine the real fresh ones are way better so im kinda jealous

Katara was not confused because of Zuko: there was never any romantic connection between them on the slightest. She had deep trauma due to losing her mother, thinking she had also lost her father, and having held Aang's corpse on her arms before bringing him back with the Spirit Water. She was 100% sincere: she couldn't date him as long as the war lasted, because she was afraid she would lose him too; they have been soulmates since at least the Fortuneteller episode, though on rewatching, their connection seems to have been instant on the moment they first met.
Chai Tea Haha no need to address the haters. LOK is so acclaimed, and so many would watch them react to it. I’m following Blindwave watch it and they love it and I feel the Normies would have the same kind of intellectual conversations and appreciation of the show that so many of us as well as critics had.
I dont like the guy who called katara a bitch. Katara has her own feelings and is an important character shes not there just to be aangs love interest.
Yes, and the reason for not going for romance right now is legit. They are in the middle of a war and that's super stressful, adding some other element to it is too much for her, and that is perfectly okay. Aang is totally out of line to kiss her after she just told him not now.
@@amazingrileyrules "They end up together" is because the writers wrote that in. Doesn't mean it feels natural for the character, which is why we are talking about this. This happens a lot in writing when an author wants an action or plot point to happen and writes it in, even if it doesn't fit with the character or doesn't feel like it developed naturally.
Aang let out a laugh of amusement as Toph's actor appeared on stage. Toph blinked in surprise as she leaned forward in her seat, the look of disbelief plastered on her face. "Wait a minute..." She began slowly as she picked at her ear with her small pinky finger as if to reassure herself that what she was hearing was indeed the truth. "I sound like a guy...A really BUFF GUY!" Katara crossed her arms and smirked before speaking in a matter of fact tone, "Well Toph, what you hear up there is the truth." Her voice grew further smug as she continued. "It hurts, doesn't it?" Toph's face showed no regret or physical signs of upset as she lifted her arms up to the sky in a gleeful gesture. "Are you kidding me? I wouldn't have cast it any other way!" She exclaimed. Upon seeing Toph's delight with the casting choice, Katara sighed, looking away in disinterest and dismay, the fun long past. Toph let out an amused laugh, and for the sake of adding further insult to injury, comments, "At least it's not a flying bald lady!" Aang glared at Toph, his moment of glee short lived as he felt his blood boil, his mood souring further.

I love how in the play Aang mentions the great divide and Sokka says “eh let’s keep flying” it’s a subtle poke of fun at themselves but it’s gets me every time.
The episode is older than the movie, but in the dvd commentary someone jokes that its what people will say when the movie comes out. They follow up saying they're sure it will actually be great, but we all know how that turned out.
imo, this was the best way to recap almost everything that has happened. Also, this isn’t really filler cuz the end of that play adds a little bit of tension to their current situation and what they have to deal with in the near future

Fun fact: the voice actor for actor Zuko was Dante Basco's brother.
TheJudoJoker Also Dante Basco and Mae Whitman (Katara) also worked together on another kids show before Avatar. You may remember it as American Dragon: Jake Long.
His name is Derek.
I expected the funniest thing in this episode to be the actual show; turns out the most entertaining part was watching Rana eating White Castle and trying not to gag.
Dylan L trying not to puke you mean...she failed the "try not to gag" white castle taste test multiple times...haha
Best recap episode ever.
Fun fact: actor zuko in the play was voiced by the brother of Dante Basco (Real Zuko’s voice actor)
i love that suki was hugging sokka at the same moment that rana was hugging nahid.. this nahid is sokka thing is getting to fucking real
lucas maglio yeah you will notice that a lot of Sukka thing happened in this episode
16:08 everytime you watch this show you find something new to appreciate.
At this moment everybody looks at Zuko except Toph, who cannot read facial expressions.
I love this show.
Man, this reaction was not good....
But the effects were decent ;)
(Just in case people don’t get it, this is a joke)
You could say the same for The Last Airbender movie hahaha
Ha... hahaha... no way in hell... oh shit... i mean... what movie?
not even. the effects where horrible xD (talking about the movie)
Let's Pretend, you’re right. What movie lol
Flame of Udun Holy shit you are everywhere
Easily one of the funniest episodes of the whole series and a nice in between from bloodbending to the finale.
I actually think the Zutara scene in the play was a jab at the Zutara shippers coz it was never gonna happen XD
PrismAnime That’s exactly what it was meant to be. And yet, people STILL think Zutara was meant to happen.
In the original script, there were no pairings at all in the end of book 3...and I found it childish to have this forced mess in the end. Just my opinion...
Fire Fly Aang and Katara wasn't forced imo
+Fire Fly I have no idea where you could have gotten that information from. But I will tell you this, according to creators Michael Dante Dimartino and Bryan Konietzko, they always planned on having Aang and Katara get together at the end of the series. So I don't know how you can say that the original script had no pairings at the end of Book 3 when the creators are on record as saying they intended for these two to be the ultimate end goal.

read and enjoy : )
It's not a filler. It's a clipshow. There's a difference. A very subtle difference.
+WAMatt too subtle to not matter. This is definitely filler.
not a filler. First it is propaganda which does happened. It also touches up on relationship status.
civilizationsss It's a recap episode done right
Egads!! My anticipation of this episode is only surpassed by my anticipation of the ones that follow.
CozyFour4Life.
The hilarity of Rana's disgust of WhiteCastle is amplified by how completely plastered she is.
This is the best way to do a clipshow/recap episode :D
Yeah drunk.
Hahahahaha Rana's face when she took the first bite:
"What is this? It doesn't just smell like butt, it even tastes like it. Why am I doing this? But wait. I'm gonna take another bite just to see if it's really that bad. Ohhhh no. BAD DECISION! BAD DECISION!"
Sa ad I don't know if this is a common thing but if I smell my food and the smell seems even slightly of I think it automatically sets my taste buds to not like and reject it even if it actually tastes fine. Not sure if this is whats happening here with her but the other guys are injoying it just fine.
peter sloan same with me. If it tastes bad, I know it will smell bad so I don't put it in my mouth.
I'm happy because soon we'll see your reaction to the finale, but I'm upset that the avatar reaction are going to end soon.
+Sarah yeah, one more week to go
Sarah there's still korra but yeah ill miss this
but we have korra :)
I personally can't enjoy LOK, but that's just me.
The reasons why they couldn't do the same with Korra is because:
Varrick's narration was the best part 😂😂😂
Guys, Aang said "I'm such an idiot"
Edit: BTW this episode is not a filler. The gAang are literally watching a Fire Nation propaganda.
Wow Rana really doesn't like white castle lmao 😂
Jakob Zakosek 18:09 lolll
Wow we are at the end of the Normie ATLA journey!
The Sonic Wave part always kills me.
6:43 "we're never speaking of this moment again"
"Agreed"
Agreed ✋
Would love to see the Cozy 4 watch Korra after this
Kerbei Please do...I'm counting on it!!!
+ Navi pleeeeease
I think Rana said they are on live stream on twitch
Kerbei eh, not a fan of LoK
A polarizing show, but a good one
The BEST almost filler episode!
It's unskippable for it's comedy and showing of internal personal struggles/fears.
if y'all are wondering where everyone is I'm just gonna say there's a reason the finale is a 4 part finale
I dont even know what White castle is but by Ranas reaction, I know I never want any lmao
LadyVenom Way YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT WHITE CASTLE IS!? 😢
It's like Krystal's for the not-South.
best. recap. episode. EVER! always loved how they poked fun at their own show with this episode :D now. hurry up and get to the finale!! i wanna see your reaction!!!
I am so happy that we still got one intoxicated Normies Avatar reaction! I was hoping for that! Just one more before the very sad thing that is the end of Avatar reactions. Amazing video. :) Thanks to the one who suggested to them to have alcohol. Probably Suraj. P.S. 7:28 Nahid's laugh :)
I love how they changed Katara’s outfit to be much more revealing, it said a lot about the whole movie making by industry.
Rana dying in the beginning gives me life
That *bleep* edit at 14:17 was absolutely hilarious 😄
The Nahid and Rana & Sokka and Suki similarities were THERE LMAO
The Harmony Files yesh i saw that and i am Sukka fan and shipper
+Joey Loi Shipping well-written canon couples is shipping on easy mode.
PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE do two parters for the finale guys! As a christmas gift for us
they are releasing their reaction to all four parts of the finale at once next week
Rodrigo Borges yeah Merry Christmas Fam
bless
That "bleep" edit, I was rolling! Right up there with "Censored Count." XD
I feel like Toph's story is mostly concluded in the comics which i recommend after watching this series
(10:48) “Choose treachery, it’s more fun!”
LMAO! 😂😂
I wouldn’t call it filler, I see it more as one last episode to get to know the characters a little more before shit gets real in the finale
Remember
If zutara was canon we never had:
" Don't bring my mother into this"
14:17 😂😂 I wasn't ready
I love Suraj shushing immediately after talking over every line lmao
OMFG Rana's face when eating lmao
Aang’s nod at 10:16 was my favourite part.
Rana truly loves Nahid it's so beautiful
Bryan ohhh my lol well i love her like crazy too - Nahid
Trust me, you might think the finale has gotten here so quick but everything is timed out perfectly!!
"But the effects were decent..."
Foreshadowing for the live action movie?
You guys missed the best part of that whole episode. It says who wrote the play," written by a surprisingly knowledgeable cabbage salesman "
This episode really *PLAYS* with my feelings...
Terrible pun, I'll leave xD
Broccoli Rocks KICKAPOW!!!
Broccoli Rocks I thought it was a good one - Nahid
Katara was not confused because of Zuko: there was never any romantic connection between them on the slightest. She had deep trauma due to losing her mother, thinking she had also lost her father, and having held Aang's corpse on her arms before bringing him back with the Spirit Water. She was 100% sincere: she couldn't date him as long as the war lasted, because she was afraid she would lose him too; they have been soulmates since at least the Fortuneteller episode, though on rewatching, their connection seems to have been instant on the moment they first met.
14:14 he said “I’m such an idiot!” 😂
21:01 Lmfao dude I fucking love Nahid. My boy real af lol just gets right to the point, no bullshit, hell yeah dude
Still though, Jet is in fact confirmed dead.
His fate was unknown for years, Jet deserved better than that
Please please please do Korra after this! You won't regret it.
haters back off.
Chai Tea Haha no need to address the haters. LOK is so acclaimed, and so many would watch them react to it. I’m following Blindwave watch it and they love it and I feel the Normies would have the same kind of intellectual conversations and appreciation of the show that so many of us as well as critics had.
Yasss korra is good. Especially season 3 . Now blindwave in season 3
Zaheer is the best
They said they are in mid or late December. The cozy four just hasn't been able to meet up yet.
Chai Tea Korra is the GOAT
Been waiting all my life for this reaction
“IM SUCH A F*CKING IDIOT”. You have out done yourself in editing this one
Right? Just because Aang likes her doesn't mean she needs to like him back. And he kissed her right after she pushed him away.
MathShinobi she likes him tho lol they end up together
@@amazingrileyrules "They end up together" is because the writers wrote that in. Doesn't mean it feels natural for the character, which is why we are talking about this. This happens a lot in writing when an author wants an action or plot point to happen and writes it in, even if it doesn't fit with the character or doesn't feel like it developed naturally.
@@AhavaMath But it did develop naturally.
13:35 RANAS FACE OMG
Holy shit Rana is fighting like a wild animal to keep that slider down
Mad respect, ma'am.
14:17 edit caught me off guard btw you guys should do this with way more shows I’m loving every single post
Fun fact: The Zuko actor's voice actor is Dante Basco's brother
1:55 HAHAHAHA, your face! 😂😂😂
Her face when she tastes the burger 1:55 XD
rana looking at everyone like damn yall dont kno you eating human
Dude I always wondered if at 11:16 that there was a glitch with aangs actress’s eye lol I just realized she painted her eyelids and that she was peaking to catch the string thing lol
Dude i was fucking dying at her eating the white castle with the most disgusted looking face ive ever seen 😂😂😂 probably funnier than the whole reaction
I love how in the play Aang mentions the great divide and Sokka says “eh let’s keep flying” it’s a subtle poke of fun at themselves but it’s gets me every time.
Dammit katara! Aang just wants to be loved lol.
Two years later and it's pretty hilarious how rana is drunk lmao
Was the last joke a dig at the movie?
The episode is older than the movie, but in the dvd commentary someone jokes that its what people will say when the movie comes out. They follow up saying they're sure it will actually be great, but we all know how that turned out.
The best part of this react is the 2 minutes of watching Rana go from staring at the White Castle in disgust to reluctantly eating it
Rana looked like she couldn't understand what it was that she was tasting
imo, this was the best way to recap almost everything that has happened. Also, this isn’t really filler cuz the end of that play adds a little bit of tension to their current situation and what they have to deal with in the near future
