I’ve been doing cold showers every day for two years now. I NEVER want to do it, but I always do it anyway, and I am always glad I did.
I started doing this 3 months ago! Took a regular warm shower, then turned dial to coldest I could handle for about a minute. I do almost every day. Kept trying colder and colder water. It’s still shocking to this day, but honestly…I look forward to it now! I feel so amazing afterwards!
Our water gets down to 42 fahrenheit here where we live in the Sierras during the winter. Very invigorating but can only do it for 1 minute.
I do the same. Its quite a shock going from a nice warm comforting shower and turning it into a super cold yelling my brains out shower.
I do that too and can't believe how much better I feel.
Walk into the shower and stand under the shower head and turn water on! Man up!

I've started doing cold showers. I turn the dial onto cold setting and jump under. I gasp for air for about 1- 2 minutes but the key is to control your breathing with slow regular breathes. After I'm adjusted to the temperature I turn the dial to coldest it will go and continue my shower as normal.
After I get out of the shower I feel alive and rejuvenated. I've been on antidepressants for the last 5 years and them pills have never made me feel as good as I feel after hopping out of a cold shower session. 😅
Theres something magnetic about cold showers, gives you the shivers but you like it, maybe the body is telling us something. : )
Cold showers are for life, so even if it takes you 3 month before you can go from hot directly to cold matters not. What matters is you’re now equipped to do it for the rest of your life❤
I actually do hit water at night qnd I do 10 minute cold showers in the a.m. helps with energy and inflammation. Has a lot of benefits. Cold plunges are next for me cause at this point I'm pretty used to it! Love it!
I have been doing 3 minute cold showers for a month. What I do is I do the cold water on my bad wrist for about 30 seconds. Then I do thirty seconds on my feet and , thirty seconds on my knees, thirty seconds on my face and then about two or three minutes on my back, shoulders and the rest of my body. I have found this practice very helpful in reducing overall body ache, reducing anxiety and improving circulation. It's worth going through the shock of the cold because of the pleasant benefits you will receive afterwards.
I’ve started doing 1 minute cold showers before workouts and cannot begin to extol the benefits. You just have to get over how much it sucks. Btw, it sucked so much that I used to make deals with myself that if I ran an extra mile or did a couple extra sets that I didn’t have to do it. This way I can’t make that deal. That’s right. I’d rather run an extra mile than do a one-minute cold shower. But I feel so much better for it.
Got myself to do a cold shower and kept it cold the whole time. My body really gets used to it within a minute or so. Feels amazing afterwards

I get straight into a cold shower. You need to take 2 - 3 long controlled breaths to get used to it, & to settle your body down. I shower for around 3 - 3min 30 in the morning on work days. At the weekend I treat myself with a warm shower, but still get in cold & wait for the warm water to run through the pipes. It’s pretty harsh during a British winter, but it gets me ready for the day ahead, in addition to all the other added benefits.

Dr. Jin, thank you so much for making this video, it has reminded me of my Summers at my grandparents, the Atlantic Ocean's water is very cold and I loved swimming in that water. Showers were on the cold side too as it was very hot :D and although I ate more then than when back home... I always lost weight and felt full of stamina and energy... those were the only things different that I'd do everyday as compared to when I was back home with my parents.

But on the days that I don't take a shower, I am used weak up in the morning and wash my face 20 to 25 times with very, very cold water. it really worked. I did it this morning, too. Yes, Doctor it stimulates the sympathetic nervous system feel very energetic

I do not know if it is the same thing, but while in South Korea and Japan, the rooms I stayed in were not heated at night, and though one stayed snuggly warm for the blankets, when one woke and got out of bed everything was cold... as in, save for the walls blocking the effects of wind chill, it was as cold inside (or nearly) as it was outside. Interestingly it reminding me of the way it was (sort of) for having grown up in a farm house built in 1997. Even today (I being able to do this since I live alone) I do not run the heater (in the cold months) while I am sleeping... and lots of other times also.

I've been doing cold showers 18 months and I've not had a cold in 18 months, COVID aside. I started 1st Jan last year in the UK so very cold. Only negative is I developed chillblanes the first year. But the second year this did not happen. So the circulation was probably improved. 18 months later and not a single cold. I have also realised the water does not need to be freezing. I also received mild benefits taking less cold showers in Thailand and India

Wise and easy for everyone to do. After 6 months of finishing my morning showers with cold (progressively to maximum cold) for 1 minute, I can attest the benefits you mention are indeed true.

Same in South Carolina 😩 I thought about filling my bathtub with cold water and adding a couple bags of ice.
I did it for a while . It had the effect of sending my blood pressure up significantly, way beyond my normal levels. When I've had the odd episode of hypertension in the past I've quickly returned it to normal by using Hawthorn Berry extract. But it didn't work with this the way it normally does. I had to take it for a week to normalize it. So I steered clear of cold showers until now , but now using with Wim Hof's breathing techniques as well and not experiencing any BP issues at all.
U mean hawthorn tincture? It helped me for blood pressure, i always had normal BP until i get covid. That tincture helped me alot, i normalize BP then i started doing cold showers.
This is a COVID deterrent. I haven't contracted the disease once because of 30 sec. cold showers.

Tell you what though, if you get a routine where you always have cold showers and after about a year you for some reason stop and take warm showers you get sick. Anyone else found that ?
i just jump in to a cold shower and put a 2 minute timer. it never gets pleasant but the suffering is fun and the after effect is even more fun!

The study about calling in sick doesn’t mean anything honestly. People who take cold showers would be the people who are on top of their shit more. Theres no way we can tell without doing another study how much of that percent were just call outs because they didn’t want to go to work and instead wanted to stay home in comfort. People who want comfort are more likely to take warm/hot showers.
So it does mean something? You literally just said it likely means they seek or don’t seek comfort! lol

Can this benefit or harm someone with an autoimmune disease? Sparking the immune system may increase the immune attack on healthy organs OR does this shock to the immune system help communications and REGULATE/MODULATE the immune response and back-off the attack on healthy organs??

@@oantech4252it’s beneficial to auto immune diseases! My girlfriend has Hashimotos diseases which is autoimmune and doesn’t allow thyroid to function properly. Cold showers and cold therapy has helped her thyroid function properly and also her immune system to regulate where it should!

I've been doing contrast showers (like hot shower-cold shower,3 times contrast change)since I was 20 (I m now 64),but recently ,after seeing some videos on this argument tried cold showers rught after bed,and the resul was thatb the 4th day I got sik,hihight temperature and all my respiratory system suffere dfor a week,and even now,after 3 weeks,I am still having the residue og a caugh :-(

Put just your feet in ice water a couple times a day for a while. It should help.

I've been taking cold showers and I'm up to 5 mins. I thought the longer the better but I've noticed that my heart rate goes very low after and I get a few heart palpitations. I notice them if I don't get warm after. I don't have any health issues. Anyone else notice this?
5 minutes is too long!! Make it 60 seconds max, otherwise you could catch hypothermia. Doesn't sound good that your heart is being affected. Cold showers are supposed to be short (30 sec to 90sec, no more!!)
for some reason when i'm under the cold water i get the feeling that someone is sneaking up behind me with a knife... haha. is that just the adrenaline rush i'm getting messing with my head? seems like a weird response.

Infections,colds etc are viruses passed on by touch and some are airborne, my guess is you had the infection days before the shower,and because your immune system was already fighting the virus. cold showers shouldn't be taken when your ill not a goid idea also people with underlying heart and cardiovascular problems shouldn't do them.
The person who takes cold showers likely does 50 other healthy things. Were those factored out?
