I love Gibson guitars. I have three: a Les Paul Classic, SG Special, and Grace Potter Flying V. All are great in a sense but all have flaws: Tuning stability, neck dive, too heavy, strap pin position/off balance, etc. Amazing that after all these years Gibson has never really addressed any of these issues. I love the sound and the way they play (at least when sitting down) but otherwise give me a USA Schecter PT, Fender, or Reverend any day for gigs or playing standing up. All are far superior and not as expensive as Gibson. No brainer.

    • @dmize2839

And I'd bought a 2nd-hand MIJ Yamato LP copy from the 70's in the early 90's that was quite a well-made guitar (especially at that low price of $110), but I eventually found out it had fake humbuckers with only 1 coil, as described here by Austin. And it seems this used to be a fairly common thing among Japanese guitar manufacturers back then, too!

Headless defies the point, which is to have the headstock as a body and the body as headstock. And the headstock must be LP shaped because the body is the LP's headstock. It's a "reversed" guitar. If you put a V headstock, as someone mentioned, then the body must have the shape of the Flying V headstock to match.

That thing you put on the neck to show it's shape headstock and near body looks like a baseball bat. I'm glad to see I'm not th he only one that eventually gets holy shirts even though I spray for pests. I have to say this is unique. I got one of those Jimmy Page Chibsons a while back, around the time all those videos were hitting, just to see what was up with them. It's about as he described, feels like a mid range Epi, but with less QC. You can make them nice, but you can make anything nice, a good walll hanger for people who just want a guitar hanging around

    • @dogslobbergardens6606
      @dogslobbergardens6606 2 роки тому

Yeah. I figure all I'm getting if I buy a Chibson is the delightful feeling of wondering if it will get seized in customs.
If I want a backup guitar to put a good pickup and pots in, I can just buy a used Epiphone or one of the other many copies that don't say "Gibson" on them, and not worry about it.
Frankly, unless someone is looking to screw people over by flipping them pretending they're real, I just don't get the Chibson appeal.

The headstock shape for the body is actually sorta ok. but the body shape for the headstock is awful. most Chibsons have bolt on necks but this one has a set neck. that's too bad because if a person liked the body shape and really wanted to make a player guitar out of it. there are a bunch of outfits that sell necks on Amazon and eBay. that range from poor quality to fairly good quality. in fact they sell set necks also, but I wouldn't recommend trying to change a set neck on a chibson. you never know what kind of fitment issue you would run into. there's a company called Kimise that makes pretty good quality necks. and these outfits make all kinds of model necks for Fender stratocaster and telecaster guitars. and they have necks for many different Gibson type guitars, like the regular open book headstock, and there are necks that have explorer, flying V, and other shapes. hell they even have the snake head shape headstock. and a person can also purchase necks that have just paddle for the headstock. and a person can cut out any shape they want out of them. and they can be purchased in various ranges of finishing, from unfinished to completely finished. and a person can get them with the peg head holes already drilled out or not. so if a person thought they would like to make a player guitar out of one. they get rid of that body shaped headstock and have a double headstock guitar. and a person can get all kinds of hardware to make a guitar that would play pretty good. including decent tuning machines, bridges, and and stop bars, and pots, and switches, and pickups. in fact Stew Mac sells all kinds hardware that is pretty good quality. so a person could make a relatively good player out of one say if they wanted to gig such a body shape. although I'm not sure why myself. but there are different strokes for different folks.

Gibson head stock shape body, PRS neck with inlays, and Big head Fender headstock, Top shelf Grover locking tuners, ,,1 lipstick, 1 p90, 1 humbucker, and all the knobs w/ 9 way selector switch... heaven or hell?

If you ever hire a luthier to make you a proper one these may I suggest no tuners at the headstock at all and do like a headless bridge, hipshot makes pretty decent looking ones actually.

I like that the cutaway allows easier play all the way down the neck. Definitely an eye catching gigging machine!

I think this guitar actually looks better than Gibson's Gold Fish Cracker with the Banana Head Stock for the 5k price tag !!!!! Definitely, a Fender Strat Head Stock on the other end would have made it perfect !!

This is very cool. They just should've made the headstock in reverse, so it doesn't look like a lefty. But that's being picky, it is an awesome concept.

Some of those Chinese clone luthiers actually do a great job, with regards to the body and neck. Pickups and electronics are usually about as cheap as you can get though. I have a guitar of Chinese origin I’m really happy with, after getting decent pickups and electronics into it. And it came with Grover Rotormatics, which I’m convinced are actually real, as they seem to have a very high gear ratio.

I recently got one from an eBay seller that has all the labels. It not only looks good but it plays and sounds decent. I am going to change all the hardware and electronics so I can pull it out at a gig and use it on a couple of songs for the shock value… should be fun!

After the whole "Play Authentic" fiasco, Gibson should do this. I think if they want to build some good faith with guitar players they should learn to laugh a little bit. I think it would help the perception of the company with some players. It's not like the market for Gibson guitars has suddenly diminished because of their body styles being so popular.

It looks soooooo weird to see a guitar in that manufacturing method!!!😂 But, it does have a "cool factor," and certainly is a conversational piece!!!!!
If your interested... I do know someone who is a manufacturer of custom logo's, stickers and just exactly what you are looking for!!!! If your interested, let me know, and shoot me out your email address in the comment section, I will them forward you his email address as well!!!!!!!!
ANYWAY, KEEP ON KEEPING ON BROTHER ROCKER!!!!!!!!!!

P.ost S.cript... I would love to see you or anyone who's guitar skills are good enough to do the damn near impossible... that is............
"TO POLISH A TERD" into shining glory, then record a few tracks, while watching the upcoming guitar players try and figureout, "HOW DID HE GET THAT SOUND!??!" 😆😅😂🤣
Also, the "Judas Priest" lick was most appropriate, ya know, seeing as how they are being inducted into the R-n-R Hall of Fame this year!!!! 🤗👍🏼
