Do you know how annoying the ads are getting on this channel.I have been with you since almost the beginning to learn.I dont mind an ad or 2 but I saw 4 so far and its always when you are telling an important thing about the subject matter. Love the video's but just frustrated.
Is there a reason why Gibson doesn't reproduce some pickups in reissues that would make it more like the originals . I've noticed some reproduction models you've reviewed you've made note on the reviews of differences on the original and your I guess distaste for the guitars not being more like the original. I mean hey it's a tribute I get it but you'd think they'd try a bit harder to get "authentic " like the reproduction of the Coronet , Wilshire, and Crestwood models.
Don’t sell it unless it’s to me for $100, Ive watched a lot of your reviews and that is one of the best sounding guitars I’ve heard. I don’t normally like Gibsons more of a Gretsch person but I loved the sounds.
I actually love players' grade guitars. I don't have to worry about dings or other character marks, and the fact that they've been well loved means there's something special and "individual" about them. Embrace the mojo!
Love the headstock ,I'd rock it without the pickguard show off that wave at the edge of the quilt .I don't know how you can let that go I couldnt do it
Good call on keeping this guitar, love the natural aging it has! especially the headstock and the way the logo has yellowed... no not yellowed... it has 'gold-ed'! Matches the aged gold hardware perfectly in case you haven't noticed!
Good choice keeping this Spotlight 042, definitely an axe with a story. Low, wide flat Les Paul frets are annoying, I had mine 'crowned' and the luthier gouged the ebony fretboard cause there was nothing there to file.
I'm not even a huge Les Paul fan but I think they are cool guitars. I'm more of an SG and Firebird, Gretsch Duo Jet guy maybe throw in a Stratocaster as well. I wouldn't mind owning a Les Paul special in TV yellow with p-90 pickups....but I have to say that is one pretty guitar Austin and if I were you I would keep it! Sell a couple of other ones if you have to but please keep this one for your awesome collection!
I see that you brought back the original intro for physical guitar review. I forgot about this and I haven't seen this for a while. I know nowadays that you started as unboxing.
You on more than one occasion said something that strikes a chord if you will with me. You love different and quirky. That is true for me when it comes to music, guitars, and some models of cars. I'm expecting a contemporary stratocaster in the next couple of days to show up on my door step. It's not really that different except the placement of the middle pickup. But not long ago I picked up a hardtail stratocaster. Wasn't that expensive and has a humbucker at the neck but it's a little differently setup from a typical stratocaster with its normal tremolo. I'm kind of curious on the one with a Floyd Rose HH setup and split coil. Cant remember if it's got the boost system in that one or not though. One of the ones I was looking at has the hotter Fender pickups in place also. It's not to typical to see buckle rash in the area that this one your reviewing has. The other owner must've like to have his guitars low strung on the straps like Mark Farner used to in his days with Grand Funk . Must be something natural about that guitar that just makes you want to play some Led Zeppelin. When you started with that lead I was thinking of Shook Me and then you moved on a started playing Livin Lovin Maid. All I can say is YES!. I can only hope to one day acquire such a nice guitar.
Hi, about your review a while back on the Gibson sg deluxe protector case; does that case provide support for the entirety of the neck all the way to the headstock? I have had such a hard time trying to find a case that truly does protect the sg.
I would keep that guitar its beautiful. I notice with guitars that have alot of play wear and that have aged nicely , they are usually awesome guitars that play and sound fantastic . Mint guitars are cool, but you can't beat the vibe of a nice played guitar. I have many that are well played and some of my favourite guitars.
Yeah, most guitarists talk about their dream birth year guitar… but I’m 1980 and it was not the best era for Fender and Gibson, outside of rare special models that I could never afford. Oh well, my partscaster SG and my CIJ Jag are 93-94 (at least the body of the Jag, someone replaced the neck with another CIJ Jag neck from the diamond anniversary year) around the time I started to play guitar… guess that’s good enough.
I've enjoyed the Trolley's guitar show for a while. I enjoy the daily dose of guitar information, but this one seems to be a " I've decided to sell a guitar" episode, which could be explained on the reverb ad. It's a beautiful Gibson guitar with japanese parts and not original parts that seems to be just fine in his opinion. I can't wait to see what it sells for on reverb.
You're talking about Gibson goofing around using the wood that was cut too short about 1988 I was at Azusa guitar Center (this is located near San Dumas a legendary location for another brand's manufacture) there was this Paul with an interesting top the wood had a distinguishing knot by the bridge on the treble side it was a book matched top The thing sounded Good!! I wanted it so bad The thing eventually sold Then a left handed Les Paul turned up I could tell this was an exact Siamese Twin of the right handed guitar previously there by the knot in the wood top by the treble side of the bridge on the right handed guitar Same color scheme everything Again Gibson just goofing around A side note People gripe about some practices but the wood and materials are expensive and they can't just throw it away ... use it up to the best of you're ability
Sorry Guy I'm thinking this is I reference to that "San Dumas" flub in fact I had just discovered it's the auto spell feature on my phone here San Dimas this is what I had intended. Oops I apologize
Excellent vid.! That I a keeper, deffo. You have many others to go before this IMO. Wonderful, natural sound to this one. I have a LPC with a Shaw neck PU. Very natural sound in want of a better word. Keep it up Trogly!
i remembered one of your old video, you sold a gibson spotlight to a buyer from hong kong, i always thinking who bought this guitar, maybe one day i will see that guy show up in a gig with this guitar, always thinking is well known guitarist or just an other guitar enthusiasm for his collection, because in hong kong rock band or rock music scene very small, not many guitarist, so not many live gig rock show , so who bought this guitar properly a professional musician i guess,so every time when i saw a spotlight, first thing pop up in my mind always troglys guitar show, maybe one day i will see this troglys guitar on hong kong TV or live show or bar gig in person.
Congratulations on climbing to the summit of the mole hill. I’m pleased to award you a very special Gold Medal that I purchased at Walmart just for you.

@@clarkbabin9799 try the Gibson Burstbucker Pros it's the best PAF like tone pickups they still make now
These guitars will always be like Trogly signatures in my mind, it's just so identifiable with our favorite lil' green dragon guy
Yes, if Gibson ever asked him for a signature model, he has to ask for a limited run of these.

She's a well played oldie, and that's GENUINE wear and tear aging, not faked aging, but aged gracefully. 😊🎸
How much. ??¿

It’s just hard to beat the sound of a good pair of Shaw pickups. Those poles need just a little adjusting and they’d be perfect!
Trog needs his own PBS show.
i don't know if its the new amp or the guitar but this was one of the best sounding demos on your channel.
Tim Shaw pickups sound great usually (albeit microphonic)
Gibson needs to make a neck thru Les Paul.Agile guitars ( from Rondo Music) makes a really great version .
Trogly's in the HOUSE!!!
Let's go
Greg and RONDO are in the house
Greg in the house
Had one. No one knew what it was. Bought it anyway. Wish I had kept it....
That neck pickup definetely steal the show 👍
I don't blame you for changing your mind. This thing is stunning, even with all the wear, and sounds like a hell of a player too.
These are very beautiful guitars! However, it would have been a neat continuity if it also had a _walnut_ fretboard. 😀
Tim shaw sounds phenomenal...

I’m very tired of Stan Rash putting his hands on these beautiful guitars. When I see him he is in trouble.

If I was gonna buy a 70’s or 80’s Les Paul it would be a spotlight. They’re sweet looking. I wish they had ABR-1’s though
Murphy lab would never make a relic like the real deal. That side of the jack with the gold plating all rusty looks so good.

Nice looking Paul.
I love those guitars you don’t see them come up for sale very often, and I always liked the darker Hugh, that some of them have
That spotlight sounds oh so good 👍
Rockin it Trogly. That guitar was meant to growl a little bit, i think.
why some finish checking vertical, some horizontal, is depend on what type of wood top..?
Love the tones, reminds me of Sweet back in their heyday in the 70's.
Truly a Gorgeous guitar.
Excellent Hitchiker's reference comment! Kudos to you, my friend.

Great video and I enjoyed it. Guitar not for me it's been monkeyed with way to much and I don't like the neck profile or walnut top stripe
