A better option prior to swapping the coils around is just pull the coil at the dead cylinder stick a spark plug in, ground the plug on the frame and visually check for spark. If you don't have spark, then switch the coils around, if you do have spark then you know its fuel, or less likely compression.
You rock dude we replaced one coil pack that was drenched om oil.. Engine light still on and mis firing.. Went to Autozone and they said cylinder 4.. Used your technique to check coil packs and it appears No4 is bad :) Thank u sooooo m uch for that easy test wish I would have found this video 3 days ago when I started fn with it.... Oh fyi never buy an Isuzu Rodeo ugh nightmare from hell to work on !!!!!!!!!!!!!
your on the right track.. id say its your injector for that cylinder or the wiring to the either the coil or injector, id check both.. but it might be easier to just swap the injector out for a new one on that cylinder.. otherwise it electrical get a multimeter and check all wires from the coil to ecm and injector to ecm..

My '99 Trooper has a rough idle, and I think it may have even backfired when I started it after it sat at work for about 10 hours. I drove it through some high water in flooded roads just before the rough idle. I may try your techniques on it (3.5 V6), but I am one of this idiots that has a good I.Q. but afraid to try anything in fear of making it worse (taught to me since youth). I need a ride to work and live alone... so I want it running in time. Keep up the good work.
"Ticking" lifters sound. In my experience with two 1992 Isuzu Trooper 3.2 SOHC engines, the timing belt spring tensioner was worn. Apparently this is or was a design problem. And both times, after changing the timing belt tensioner -- again (belts were fine), the noise disappointed.
Hi I was wondering if you might have a suggestion for what I should start checking on my 2003 Isuzu Axiom. It has been flashing the Check TOD light every once in a while. After I restart the engine the lights that tell you what you have selected (like park or drive) will not light up. If I start to drive it when these lights are not on it will not shift into 3rd(automatic) for about 5 min of driving and runs at 3000 rpm. It will then also when stopping at a stop sign feel as if the brakes where applied suddenly even when I stop very slowly. I am hoping that it is not the transmission going out... It has 120,000 miles on it. Also today it decided to not start after I shut it off. I shut the engine off to make the TOD light stop as indicated in my Manual. It made no noise at all when I turned the key. All the dash lights came on and headlights worked and radio etc.
turns out on this truck the wiring was damage from computer to two of the injectors. i had to rewire and that fixed it. if i was you, id try all the cheap stuff first, new spark plugs,new wires, cap and button if you have those... then if not fixed and you have coil packs try swapping cylinder 6 coil for one nearby and see if the problem jumps to the other cylinder... thus checking the coil.. last the injector could be at fault like this car
Perhaps you can answer a question. My 95 Trooper will not start in spite good battery and decent turn-over. I changed out the fuel filter. But It seems to be something to do with with the injectors. I also installed new new plugs and a new Alternator which needed doing anyway, Still I get no start. What should I try next?
Please help me out bro. I have a 96 Isuzu trooper 3.2 V6 and its has started knocking not horrible but not good either. Kinda like what I have been hearing about all Isuzu's. I was pulling a small trailer and I would lose power like the motor was dying out but no drop in RPM. I can put it in drive and hold the brakes while giving it gas and the knocking increases. Any insight would be a blessing.
I have a 92 and my Trooper makes a loud loose noise, if that makes any sens, on the passenger side. Do you know what that could be? I took it to a shop and they said it could be the transmission but couldn't give me a for sure answer.
My 91 will normally start cold good than after driving a few miles than after restarting, show the O2, Generator & fuel low lite will all tend to come on occasionally come on after restarted. Thanks

From what I gather, some of the these 3.2L engines have mechanical lifters and with increasing noise levels indicates a shim type valve adjustment due. Not sure I'd have the balls/back/eyesight/shims to try it with my own '02 Rodeo. Thanks again.
Hey man I have a 95 Isuzu trooper the problem I have is the all my cluster gauges like mph, rpm, gas, temp, oil, battery will not light up I have looked at all the fuses and non of them are bad. Do you think it could be the cluster lights them selves?
Dude You Rock! Thanks for the video. 98 Isuzu Trooper Bad Coil Fix. Pulled the connector on the #4 cylinder coil and no change. Checked another next to it and ran worse. Swapped the two coils one good one bad and retest #4 was good and the other was bad. Replace the coil and fix. All for the cost of the part # C1148 $104.19 out the door at Auto Zone. Remember its probably not a blown engine 99.999% of the time. Hint Hint Hint P.S. Cuss all you want! Thanks Again.
Ok I seen ur video and I have a 94 Isuzu trooper that IV been fighting for a week now it won't start last time it ran the oil pressure and voltage gague went nuts the check trans light flickered and now it won't start it will crank over but that's it but will fire on starter fluid so I check the spark all was good there so fuel???? I changed the fuel pump the filter and new fuel lines still nothing so I checked the fuel pressure with key on it read 42 psi so next I checked my power to the injectors and I have no power to any of them so I started to check fuses and everything was there and good except front windshield wiper so I put a fuse in and constant power to them and they won't turn off with the fuse in so I started to chase wires and can't see any wrong there??????now I'm lost lol IV also put it a new brain still same results

i have a 91 isuzu amigo that revs up and down. iwas unable to get it smogged because they cannot do the timing. i clened the mass air flow, any ideas? someone told me to clean the air intake valve, do you think that may be it? any advice is appreciated. thanks
Give your self a weekend to do ur car, Your fixing anyway so much better to clean or replace Emmission problem.What I do on my 96 Passport is ...Clean the MAF with MAF spray cleaner, clean the Throttle body with Throttle body spray depends how dirty is your Throttle (mine I didnt remove just the outside)buy a brush and also buy baby bottle brush u know the very tip of brush use it to clean the passeges,clean or replace ur IAC clean also the passeges brush it,EGR valve clean it or replace it ( depends also how dirty it is ) passeges as well brush it .You have to dry at least 45 mins. b4 u put them back,Then replace spark plugs.My IAC on my Passport is aftermarket I bought it on Ebay for lessthan 10 and EGR valve is also aftermarket cost me 50 buks on Ebay ,spark plugs? first things first. they sounds like shit if you use 5-30 in them and dont do your homework. you gotta run rotella 5-40 and then add lucas as well as lifter oil and it will tick for the first 30 seconds on statrt and smooth right out. it was the best model 95. standard and 4*4 all the way. that aside spot on. great suvs. i hate the mpg though
Thanks for the video. I am trying to pull the transmission on a 2000 Passport and have everything ready to go except the damn upper tranny to engine bolts. How in the world do you access the passenger side upper bolts? The fuel lines and brackets are all in the way. And then how do you get them back in later? Even with the tranny tilted and a long extension, I cant get to them. Thanks!

I have a 1994 trooper, the noise is causes by the oil lifters, I got rid of the noise by changing oil and filter every 2,500 miles instead of 3,000 or you can switch to synthetic oil.
pyronmasters i also have a 94 ticked like a bitch,i rebuilt the top end, rocker rods get worn because of lack of lubrication, lots of small oil venturies.i called Isuzu and the only fix was to switch to moble1 0w30 full synthetic. make sure oil filter has diaphragm so oil doesn't drain back into oilpan when ya shut er off.

Oh forgot battery dead so I jump it and it turn over for 1 second then click click . will not smart even if I jump it from another car and still nothing ,,, where do i start?? Alternator or Battery??
thanks for watching, sounds like you could have a loose or bad battery wire to the starter. you could also have a bad starter take the starter out and have a local shop load test it for you. if the starter and connections check out check for spark, and then fuel. you need three things spark,air.,and fuel.... also dont forget timing... you might have to check your timing belt.... hope this helps..beauthemechanic
Ok I got spark , I got gas purchase A pressure gauge and also getting compression on all 6 , I was getting code P0122 and I change the Maf sensor so not the code is gone car start up alot of white smoke , but the battery is dead charging it and I change the Fuel filter so waiting to see if It will start again

Check fuel pressure...maybe fuel pump is out or it’s circuit breaker

Mine did exactly the same. All coils and plugs good. Changed injectors and my trooper runs smoother than before with better gas mileage
