The upgrade to premium item thing is a placeholder item you get automatically when you purchase something on the mannco store for the first time. It's listed as map stamp because as far as I know you can't have map stamps in your backpack it's just a way to support Devs so that item works in a same way, don't know how it occurred probably something like an item server error. Also it's listed as not craftable because that was the base quality of items from the mannco store since ~2015, nowadays all the new items released on the store just stay craftable and unique but the only ones that benefit from this are the new taunts and the prinny items the rest still come out as dirty quality
Here's a fun lil glitch nobody's mentioned yet. In the very beginning of Jungle Inferno, all the war paints went from Civilian grade to Commando grade in their respective collections. Not just with the free ones you get from contracts, but the ones you could unbox from cases as well. I unboxed a macaw masked unusual and found it was freelance grade. If I had unboxed one of a lower grade, I could've put a stat-clock on it and gotten an easy strange unusual. (Which is what some people did)
in terms of the initial section about incorrect meta values, it may have been worth also mentioning the strange normals (grey text, "stock" quality color as opposed to the yellow uniques.) that came from gun mettle in 2015 and the actually fully fixed unique unusuals that came from the same bug in halloween 2016 that spawned the strange uniques. the latter case is i think especially interesting since it is as far as i'm aware, the only time valve has outright not allowed a glitched item type to continue existing. The strange normals and uniques also have special attributes, normals don't show in killcams and uniques can't have name and description tags removed iirc.
Hey, I'm an item collector myself, and I have a few of these, including the coveted Collector's Specialized Killstreak Concheror (Manndarin), as well as a vintage specialized killstreak level 0 ubersaw, and a unique pda. I also have some fairly rare items as well, hit me up if you want some pics of them or something!
Also items can actually come in 256 different levels. Theres the standart level 1-100 with a few glitched level 0 exceptions for regular items, aswell as level 101 - 255 + rare level 0 drops in Mann up mode. Whenever u complete a tour in Mann up, your botkiller / killstreak kit or even australium, has the level of the tour number u got it on. This works all the way till tour 255. After 255, the level of the item doesnt reset to 1, but instead goes to level 0 first. This is why there are a couple of level 0 australiums in existance (and possibly more in the future)
There are 2 types of "normal tradeable bats". The level 0 ones, which came into existance as u described correctly, aswell as a level 1 version that came with a glitch in the stockpile crate programming. U could enter certain keywords into the "loot generator" text field and end up with a stockpile crate containing a "bat" as one of the 4 possible outcomes of unboxing it. Thats how the level 1 bats were created. The glitch was patched, a few of those glitched stockpile crates still exist however. In case u wanna see them, i have one in my inventory as i once bought a normal bat and wanted to see how it came into existance. "Black Rain" found said glitch back then, and gave me one of the crates as a gift.
Another use for the universal killing streaks - they can be applied to Rocket Jumper and Sticky Jumper. I know it gives the rocket jumper the shiny effect ( -tho idk bout sticky jumper cuz i never saw one- _someone else in comments said they have the effect working on sticky jumper_ ) You can usually get kills with it to get the quality, tho some servers with modified stats allow that. But you get the shine anyway so that cool
I managed to grab a blank Specialised Killstreak Kit one time, so I shoved it on a Collector's Sticky Jumper. It shows the killstreak sheen as intended, unlike most other glitched killstreak loadout items your class can hold in-game!
I like how Valve used the incorrect meta items intentionally when they made VSH, since Saxton’s weapon is a pair of fists that count kills but isn’t strange and is locked at 9001 kills, making them Hale’s Own Fists. On Saxton Hale.
Ace the Ocarina Maker has a special Phlog with the green flames particle effect, making his phlog look like a regular flamethrower in terms of particles during Halloween/full moon
I own one of the rarest items in the game, a glitched level Unique grade Ambassador that I got as a reward drop during the first week of MvM. One of 45 glitched level Unique Ambys.
I had a friend who bought a rare sniper rifle skin at the start of the gun metal update, he than later sold it during the update but he came back and had a glitched tradable stock sniper rifle which had never been named or given a description. I don't believe he still has it but it was weird and can't really find many similar cases.
There also used to be a painted Vita-Saw at one point in time. I did some sleuthing around old inventories and item databases and found proof of its existence. The paint reportedly never showed up on the weapon's model, only upon inspecting and in the backpack and stuff. To my knowledge, there was only one to ever exist. Its whereabouts are currently unknown, as I've been unable to track it past a certain date in a certain backpack. I'm assuming it's been deleted. I've got some info on it if you're ever interested!
it is so weird to that a guy with such entertaining videos and great editing doesn't get as many subscribers and views as he should. Hopefully the UA-cam algorithm can do something about that.
One thing you could try to do to edit the item schema file: install TF2 on a removable drive, insert it on another computer and edit it from windows or linux. haven't tried it yet tho
There's some weapons you can use the blank killsteak kit on that do show the sheen, even though they don't have a killsteak kit designed for them. The sapper is one and also the gunboats. I managed to get a blank killsteak kit and use it on my gunboats and was surprised to see that they actually show the sheen.
For a period of time you could also edit the item schema to make a tool act like a crate key, meaning you could use $0.03 giftapults like a key. Around the EotL update several non-hat cosmetics were also dropping as unusuals (Coldfront Curbstompers and Hunter Heavy) so a few of those exist, as well as the Coffin Kit of course. I still adore the Balaclavas are Forever Cow Mangler and have seen one before in game and wish they were still paintable with team paints.
Being a (Starting) glitched item collector, I think the Strange Normals are the most interesting. I do have an item you didn't talk about and it's a Unique Bat with a description that is uh...Pretty long. Anyway, nice video.
For a neat example that not's directly relevant but this reminded me of, you also used to be able edit the item schema to remove the information about which body part cosmetics occupy, allowing any normally conflicting combination to be considered equippable at once. Pretty sure that's been removed for a long time now but 'twas a neat way to create truly unique loadouts for a while.
I did see them in my research and what lead me to leave them out was that some people suggested they might not *necessarily* be glitched. Because they were apparently given to the devs from Sam & Max and were (one of?) the first community sparkle items ever, it's possible that Valve gave these out with the intended attributes (tradability) before they'd really established the concept of community sparkle items not being tradeable. Didn't seem concrete either way though, so I didn't want to speculate about it in the video just in case
Casperr ah I see. They are technically glitched though as the other self made Sam and max items with community sparkle remain self made like the Max’s severed heads, but upon items turning vintage team fortress devs accidentally turned all Lugers including the community sparkle ones vintage which is why they are vintage despite having the community effect. It’s really interesting stuff. Still my top item in my personal collection.
Once during a game I saw a top tier scout trader with a "strange normal peofesionnal killqtreak scattergun, spelles with exorcism". He also had a "vitage pro ks lugermporh" with the fire horns effect on it AS WELL as a strange monoculus. Not the binoculus, but the monoculus, the hat you get from an achievement. He had it in strange wtf
Abit of an obscure knowledge here but the main reason Normal quality bats came to existence was because a group of friends discovered that when you type BAT on the shuffle thingy in the Mann Co. Stockpile Crate a normal quality bat comes to the drop menu of that crate
Would also like to make one correction with the blank Killstreaks being glitched killstreak Spellbooks, no idea if the sheen is present on them mainly due to how small the item is and their limited time use but they do in fact track kills and thus can get killstreaks
Players used to be able to equip cosmetics that clipped together before Valve patched most of it. Afterwards players used to also be able to equipped/clip items together by lagging themself's while changing cosmetics, but that was also later patched. Nowadays if a player never changed those slots then they still have those clipped cosmetics equipped together. I have a loadout on Pyro with Person in the Iron Mask, Pop-eyes, and Tower Pillar of hats. It's an ugly set, but to my knowledge I'm the only person that can/has all those specific items equipped. I don't know of anyone else that has something like this that survived the unequipping script kiddies, but if anyone else has a glitched/clipped set in 2021 I'd love to see it.
9:39 You know, it could be that it is an item variant of the “upgrade to premium” ‘promotion’, added to cart when you first buy something from mannco store
I personally own a thing I unboxed so I could get a premium TF2 account, an unusual Colonel Kringle. It has a purple effect that instead of being on the hat, it's in the torso. It's really weird, because it doesn't show it like that in the backpack or selecting cosmetics, but it does in game.
you forgot the Upgrade to Premium Glitched item doesn't have the ''this is a limited use item. uses: 1'' So it's possible you could ''use'' it as many times as possible.
I bought the glitched killstreak kit the day it showed up on the marketplace and instantly applied it to my Strange Archimedes As far as I am aware, it's the only one that exists in the world.
Also the glitched Unusual Extra layer misc for sniper exists, right now there should be two in existence. Also when it comes to painted cow manglers, im happy i had the luck to meet an owner of one ingame.
When you purchase an item on a "free" account, then it says you get three things, the item you bought, the mann Co cap and a "upgrade to premium account" I think that the last item is a glitched version of that
I believe the upgrade to premium item is how your account is upgraded to premium. They give you this item when you buy enough and it auto-uses or something. It’s probably not true but I’m just throwing it out here because I don’t see any other theories.
I currently own a loaner version of a sniper rifle back when you could loan skins for weapons, but I got it from my brother through trading and I named it "Loaner - This Item Cannot be Modified" Loaner weapons cannot be traded, used in crafting, modified ( so naming and describing ), and a whole assortment of other things even though I got it through two of those "impossible" things
Similar to the bonk hat, the rocket jumper when given a glitched kit does show a sheen! I was lucky enough to obtain one and it’s one of my prized items I own
i think "upgrade to premium" might be a placeholder used when an f2p first purchases something from the mann co store. when i was buying Taunt: Rock Paper Scissors for my little sibling the other day so that we could play tf2 together, i noticed the checkout screen not only showing the aforementioned taunt, but also two other items: the mann co cap, and another thing saying "upgrade to premium"
I actually have the clean head taker. Got it from someone that was playing since the event wnd was leaving tf2 so they just let me have it in a trade server. Consider it my rarest item.
One of the weird things I saw kind of recently was a demo man who had a stock grenade launcher and stickybomb launcher that both counted kills and the name was still gray, it was even name tagged and the name was gray
I rememeber when Gun Mettle came out in 2015 you could (briefly) craft stock items. I beleive the rarest of those unique stock items are the invisi-watches, i remeember seing a video back in the day (that since got removed) stating that only 16 of them were crafted. It was at the same moment you could get blank killstreak kits, i find these oddities fascinating.
Most of the goofy glitch weapons I see are hard to do exploits that mess with weapon effects temporarilly. Using item drops and a resupply cabinet to Glitch effects onto weapons, while the item servers were down. So I got to see the hilarity of A Phlogistinater with Air blast XD. The guy was playing with a friend who also played Pyro but, with item servers going down, the Second Pyro was stuck with Stock. The first pyro, who had on the Phlog, used a kill bind in spawn to drop his Phlog for his friend. When the second pyro picked it up, they also triggered the locker, the game lagged for a second, and the second Pyro had the phlog.. but it could Air blast. The pyros had no idea how it happened and couldn't replicate the glitch but it was some amazing chaos for a bit. I was playing medic so I stuck around the second pyro because the weapon was hilariously broken... but the glitch ended when they died.
Not too long after I first got the game, I deleted the Haunted Metal Scrap, not knowing it had a purpose, for inventory space. A couple years ago I contacted Steam Support to see if they could restore it, and they did, except it was unique. Not really thinking anything of it, I crafted my Headtaker and moved on. I regret doing that now, as that would be such a cool thing to show off
Before the 2021 Scream Fortresses update, you can use a name/description tag to a construction PDA or a sapper and then restore the item to obtain a glitched Unique Version of them
I didn't want to be picky, but apparently there are even rarer universal killstreak kits, which are professional killstreak kits, and i got one on a sticky jumper, which also shows the sheen, much like the rocket jumper as well
During 2013 people could craft the MvM gate bot hats, Valve fixed it some hours later and everyone that crafted one got a "Glitched Circuit Board" and its a rare item.

I know it gives the rocket jumper the shiny effect ( -tho idk bout sticky jumper cuz i never saw one- _someone else in comments said they have the effect working on sticky jumper_ )
You can usually get kills with it to get the quality, tho some servers with modified stats allow that. But you get the shine anyway so that cool
I met a guy with a Normal Strange Scattergun with Exorcism and had 3 Haunted Cosmetics, double spelled. I was ASTONISHED.
I've got some info on it if you're ever interested!
sold to person with private backpack likely
it is so weird to that a guy with such entertaining videos and great editing doesn't get as many subscribers and views as he should.
That "Boo Balloon" cosmetic is still broken after 8 years of being in the game, it breaks reality whenever you walk around with it.
Being a (Starting) glitched item collector, I think the Strange Normals are the most interesting. I do have an item you didn't talk about and it's a Unique Bat with a description that is uh...Pretty long. Anyway, nice video.
pls post here your bp link, i wanna check it out
Ive run across a crafted shooting star before, craft number 4 professional killstreak shooting star. I wonder how that one happened
I've seen a painted mangler, specialized killstreak cosmetics, and stock stranges all in game before
Felt as mysterious and enticing as an ARG. Excellent video :)
Thanks brother :) Your work on the thumbnail and associated chit chats were much appreciated
Blank KS kits can also be applied to some weapons that can't normally get kills to give them a sheen, such as the Gunboats
i think soundsmith applied one to his rocket jumper
For a neat example that not's directly relevant but this reminded me of, you also used to be able edit the item schema to remove the information about which body part cosmetics occupy, allowing any normally conflicting combination to be considered equippable at once. Pretty sure that's been removed for a long time now but 'twas a neat way to create truly unique loadouts for a while.
yay an new casperr video, as the solider would say "today is a good day!"
Yay! A new casperr video! As the soldier would say "today is a good day!"
RIP rick may
I’m a big glitch collector I’m glad to see this being covered. Just a bit sad you didn’t cover the tradable community sparkle lugermorphs.
Monoculus strangifier exists. More special if it was tradeable.
Yooo a new Casperr video! :D
I am genuinely shocked that I didn't know about a majority of these! The research your videos are always top notch
Thanks Mowse 🥰 your long time support is much appreciated!
casper your vids man they are so good. so good.
Yeah I tried to get some of the old achievement hats that I deleted a few years ago when I was younger and they told me they couldn't restore them
I don't know whether this is a glitch or not, but I have a strange haunted garden bristles with carnival kills as a killstreak.
I saw a painted cow mangler in game last week, didn’t know they were possible
Man the look on people's faces as they take a few seconds to process they got a bat
Someone should have used the Item Schema glitch to get the Top Notch
I was wondering why I was finding killstreak buff banners or sandviches. It also explains the pricing on these items.
Very very slick editing, great job
Abit of an obscure knowledge here but the main reason Normal quality bats came to existence was because a group of friends discovered that when you type BAT on the shuffle thingy in the Mann Co. Stockpile Crate a normal quality bat comes to the drop menu of that crate
Items bought from valve come bundled with a free upgrade to premium item at checkout, this could be it
I'm a simple man, I see video about shiny objects with the Sam and Max Office theme, I like.
Would also like to make one correction with the blank Killstreaks being glitched killstreak Spellbooks, no idea if the sheen is present on them mainly due to how small the item is and their limited time use but they do in fact track kills and thus can get killstreaks
That's a very cool little detail, thanks for sharing! :D
5:20 I think the gunboats also have a sheen on it
I remember the Cow Mangler thing and regret not painting mine while I had the chance, oh well
As a collector I'd give my soul for one of those Cow Manglers
I would and I don't even collect, I want a cyan laser gun
I think whenever you get new weapon you never seen before - it should generate stock version of that item for you. To save backpack space for f2p's.
I wished they made the universal killstreak kit a real thing, of course it would only be able to be applied to weapon but the idea of it would be neat
It would massively drop the economy on killstreak weapons though
@@pharam9937 nah, it would be rarest one to get to balance out it's usefulness
@@pharam9937 vintage stranges
a new tf2 facts video full of information I somehow never knew in 2021?
IMPOSSIBLE!
If I’m not wrong, there are normal laser bats (that lightsaber scout bat, that came out during Invasion update)
Watching tf2 videos always gets me in the mood to play TF2.
you forgot the Upgrade to Premium Glitched item doesn't have the ''this is a limited use item. uses: 1'' So it's possible you could ''use'' it as many times as possible.
I have a Unique Equalizer that counts kills like a strange
The one with the Bonk Cans was pretty mind-blowing!
I bought the glitched killstreak kit the day it showed up on the marketplace and instantly applied it to my Strange Archimedes
As far as I am aware, it's the only one that exists in the world.
Also the glitched Unusual Extra layer misc for sniper exists, right now there should be two in existence. Also when it comes to painted cow manglers, im happy i had the luck to meet an owner of one ingame.
wow! this preview is amazing! nice job
When you purchase an item on a "free" account, then it says you get three things, the item you bought, the mann Co cap and a "upgrade to premium account" I think that the last item is a glitched version of that
Interesting theory! I'll have a look into it 🤔
I believe the upgrade to premium item is how your account is upgraded to premium. They give you this item when you buy enough and it auto-uses or something. It’s probably not true but I’m just throwing it out here because I don’t see any other theories.
I currently own a loaner version of a sniper rifle back when you could loan skins for weapons, but I got it from my brother through trading and I named it "Loaner - This Item Cannot be Modified"
Loaner weapons cannot be traded, used in crafting, modified ( so naming and describing ), and a whole assortment of other things even though I got it through two of those "impossible" things
The craftable and tradable Unique and Normal Black Rose - a promotional Spy's knife, that is a little expensive one.
FINALLY been waiting for this for so long
I actually have the clean head taker. Got it from someone that was playing since the event wnd was leaving tf2 so they just let me have it in a trade server. Consider it my rarest item.
One of the weird things I saw kind of recently was a demo man who had a stock grenade launcher and stickybomb launcher that both counted kills and the name was still gray, it was even name tagged and the name was gray
there’s also incredibly rare items like the normal batsaber and other normal non-stock or normal strange weapons
Instantly subbed, UA-cam algorithm did good today.
Very interesting video! Great editing! Keep up the good work :)
I remember back in 2013 I had some how found a vintage Australim black box and I don’t know how to this day
Reminds me of a card I once read about in Hearthstone called “NOOOOOOOOOOO” that players got if a card was deleted by Blizzard
I regret doing that now, as that would be such a cool thing to show off
This is 100% my UA-cam video of the year. SO SMOOTH
i once came across a strange professional killstreak Catastrophic Companions. sadly dont have the screenshot anymore though
Before the 2021 Scream Fortresses update, you can use a name/description tag to a construction PDA or a sapper and then restore the item to obtain a glitched Unique Version of them
I didn't want to be picky, but apparently there are even rarer universal killstreak kits, which are professional killstreak kits, and i got one on a sticky jumper, which also shows the sheen, much like the rocket jumper as well
I once saw a spy with the spycicle that when used applied the gold pan effect.
