I love the *Entire TF2 themed mode* in Hot Dogs, Horseshoes, and Hand-grenades the most every one of the classes stock weapons is in the game (plus, some custom ones added by the devs), and you have to reload them yourself in VR, pretty fun and *very* chaotic
In Dungeon of the Endless The Pyro, Heavy, Medic and Engineer are playable characters and in a mobile game called Tiny Tower there's an Engineer outfit for your civillians
Don’t know if anyone else has actually mentioned it yet, battle nations also had a big crossover with tf2. It was a turn based strategy game with base building mechanics and a mini quest line for the cross over. Over half of all the classes were included with unique abilities.
I quess it wasn't that popular, but I think the very few who still remember it we're looking for this particular comment, because atleast my memory of the whole game was a bit foggy, but now I remember it perfectly
One of two different mobile games I played in the early 2010's to crossover with TF2 - The other being Hero something. Heroscape? Hero Wars? It was like an isometric version of chess, and the pieces had health bars (and were various fantastical creatures; knights, wizards, ninjas, ghosts... Mercenaries...)
Henry stickmin: collection also has many refrances and character cameos to many franchises and tf2 aswell, but even as a flash game before anything official on steam from the 2nd game alone i think all of the games had a tf2 refrance only a few that are kinda hard to avoid but many smaller ones too pretty cool how people know and love this game. Obviusly not everyone plays it today but the nostalgia and the fact that you can still enjoy a fun game of it is a nice feeling, especially today when after years some devs actually care at valve to work in this game
In payday 2, there is the tf2 turret in one or maybe 2 missions ( I can’t quite remember ) but basically the point of the mission was to build the turret.
Someone else actually found a second reference to Team Fortress 2 in half-life Alex in their own TF2 cameo video, on one of the levels there's actually a hard hat next to a poster showing a stylized version of engineer
I didn't know about most of these, impressive stuff. The only other one I could think of was another one of those intentionally obtuse games, I Am Bread, which has a TF2 themed level.
There is an old, now delisted mobile game (that was also on Steam) called Battle Nations. A turn-based strategy game. It had a crossover with TF2 which featured Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman and Heavy as playable units. Sniper was also featured in the loading screen art but was never added in. They also had a special limited time quest chain which basically amounted to assisting BLU team steal RED team’s flag.
The most impressive thing about Paladins is that they got Engie's VA. Also no footage of SMNC wearing TF2 skins because the game launched at the worst time possible save for a model dumped at SFM.
In Payday2, There is a Heist called "Transport: Train Heist" Where you're stealing a turret. The Ammo is not notable but when you break into and find the vault with the turret in it, you will see it is a Lv1 Sentry from Tf2
Dungeon of the Endless had the Pyro, Heavy, Medic, and the Engineer as heros you could find/run with. That was pretty neat. It also added some TF2 items like the Sandvich, Data Pad, Archimedes, and another thing I'm forgetting.
I think DRG has an homage to the Engineer. The character has a shotgun and turrets, kinda looks like the Engineer too, but it has a beard, but it had goggles and a hard hat looking hat.
Other than the wide array of cameos you can’t forget about its influence on the shooter genre as a whole. Games like Overwatch, Valorant, Fortnite and many others would not be the same if it weren’t for the influence of TF2
“if you want to sneak up on someone, it’s best not to wear perfume” sounds like what a very tired engie would say to a spy trying to keep sapping his turret
Mini motor Racing even had a crossover. They lost the license, but the vehicles and tracks were renamed. Heavy’s Truck and a map are around in the VR game
The Henry Stickmin Franchise also had a couple of TF2 references over the years. One that I can remember is The Meme Scout Painting in Stealing The Diamond and The Sandwich Option in Escaping The Complex (it's a literal nod to Heavy's "Sandvich Make Me Strong" Phrase)
Call me crazy, but at 11:05 he says a certain phrase "and that felt pretty good, but that's it". Is that a reference to that Dot Dot Dot video about Stick Man space bar adventure?
Fun fact in Endless Dungeon Heavy, engi, pyro and medi are playable characters under thier actual names(except pyro of course) and even had some items added with them!
This cameo isnt a skin cameo, but is still neat. In the movie METAL LORDS on Netflix, at the timestamp 15:06, there is a poster of Soldier in the background. I watched the movie a few days ago and caught this while viewing it. Hopefully you will see it if you decide to watch it Casperr.
The defunct mobile game Battle Nations also had TF2 members as units you could build. It was a fun strategy game and the tf2 units where actually on the good side if you used them right.
Left for dead has a heavy action figure on a table in the first map of the No Mercy campaign. It’s inside the apartment building the campaign starts at.
If you want TF2 in VR, check out H3VR, soon to get a TF2 character for the Take and Hold Game mode, and having a bunch of cool TF2 guns, a TF2 maps with infinitely respowning TF2 merc NPCs to help or kill and participate to big merc sosage battles.
In deep rock galactic, the engineers grenade launcher has a rocket jumper upgrade and the icon is exactly what soldier looks like when he’s in the air.
fun fact: the developer of lethal company wanted to add ''DLC characters'' pyro being one of them, but pyro's airblast ability showed to be so powerful that he just scrapped the whole idea of DLC characters (yes this face was made by another person, i just dont remember who)
We need a new Valve licencesd TF2 game, and I have just the right idea: Team Fortress Go!Karts You could have 3 different cars for every charachter, different powerups limited to each charachter (Engie could have a mini-sentry attached to his cart, Pyro could shoot fire balls or a flamethrower, Spy could go invisible & invulnerable for 10 secconds, etc) and all the tracks could be made from re-purposed TF2 maps....And the best part? NO BOTS! THIS IS A GOLDEN EGG VALVE! Dont waste this amazing opportunity.
Probably one of the most successful series of weapons and cosmetics in TF2’s marketplace would be those inspired from Deus Ex : Human Revolution. I wonder how many TF2 players even knew they existed in another game, let alone knowing about their original design.
Saints Row: The Third, and Saints Row IV (including Re-Elected) have TF2 crossovers, Saints Row 3 gives hats of the cast, and Saints Row IV gives weapon skins and a whole new weapon, Pyro's flamethrower and the Rainblower.
I couldn't help but notice that the Heavys boat in Sonic All Stars bares some resemblance to the Airboat from Half Life 2. I can't be the only one who saw that right?
Valve is one of the best companies in gaming "Oh you wanna make more content, go ahead we even let you put it on our platform". "You want one of our chars have a cameo in your game, okay cool". If they released more than one game per decade they would be pretty mutch perfect, they allow fans to earn cash from fan games unlike some others who would borderline due their fans over fan art.
You mean to tell me that there are several unique voice lines for Engineer hidden away in Paladins? GMOD and SFM animators! i'm calling on you to track those voice lines down and put them to good use!
holy crap I wasn't ready for that Dot Dot Dot reference. I was surprised not to see Dungeon of the Endless on this list, its pretty much the only game I could name off of the top of my head. P.S. The only reson im giving this a 1 is beacuase the voices where pretty good...but that's...it...
dead game but battle nations, a mobile game from probably around a decade ago had a huge tf2 crossover with I think 4 classes being units in the game, it even had its own separate mission list with text dialogue from the mercs
What's *your* favourite TF2 cameo? Any skins or references I've missed?
I forgot the name of the movie but it shows people running out a theatre and a guy cosplaying scout runs out as well
Just wanna point out that Paladins started its development before Overwatch
Dungeon of the Endless tf2 crossover was awesome
the pyro in EG2 i really love both games and the cross over was well made imo
Sonic transformed definitely
5:12 Fun fact: you can also find a BLU version of the scout bobble head during the zoo level of HL Alyx.
Imagine you carry both of them with you and see them fight.
I love the *Entire TF2 themed mode* in Hot Dogs, Horseshoes, and Hand-grenades the most
every one of the classes stock weapons is in the game (plus, some custom ones added by the devs), and you have to reload them yourself in VR, pretty fun and *very* chaotic
It’s amazing
I was wondering why that was never mentioned
@@th3narrat0r5 Fr it’s definitely the most entertaining and content-filled cameo
Ever time TF2 gets referenced in other games, it makes me happy to know that people still remember and love these games!
Me too master of sticks
What happened to the other 499 stick masters?
He lives!
@@Atlas.Brooklyn We don't talk about them
Wow you made it to 500

thanks for reminding of dungeons. got it today at a discount heck yeah

Story portraite they gave heavy in it was ugly as sin tho
@@prof.pick1es283 I looked it up and it is even worse than I remembered

Train Heist. You're stealing the turret, and I don't believe it comes up again.
Tf2 will always be one of the most important games to ever exist, the sheer amount of happiness it has brought gamers is baffling.
RED BREAD!

7:06 gman imitating the fecken sun baby from teletubbies is not something my brain wanted to experience at 4am but here we are.
Can't belive they got Grant Goodeve for a single Paladins Skin, and Valve couldn't even get him back.
11:03 I recognize and appreciate that dotdotdot reference that I'm sure few others will
I did love the Dot Dot Dot reference.
I think DRG has an homage to the Engineer. The character has a shotgun and turrets, kinda looks like the Engineer too, but it has a beard, but it had goggles and a hard hat looking hat.

To be fair, getting the fridge open and the heart out was also tricky in the regular version of Surgeon Simulator.
0:28 i mean there is team fortress 2 classic and open fortress
There was also an entire update that added TF2 characters to Endless dungeon.
Bruh no one noticed 1:30 all recommendations is rickroll.
“if you want to sneak up on someone, it’s best not to wear perfume” sounds like what a very tired engie would say to a spy trying to keep sapping his turret

Can't forget the needler in SFH 1 (Based off of the syringe gun) and the minigun in SFH 2 (Based off, well, the minigun)
thats insane how you remembered that, i used to play those all the time!
I think the Sandwich was mostly a reference to Castle Crashers but now that you said it, it makes sense for a actual double nod.

Don't Starve has hidden files for a pyro character. They are almost fully sprited and coded along with a few custom items.
I used to play a game called BATTLE NATIONS that had a TF2 crossover! In fact… it had a whole event where you could unlock TF2 troops and stuff!

There's also the game dungeon of the endless where you can play as heavy and engi, where they are in roughly the same class in endless
For TF2 cameos, there's this game, Super Time Force Ultra, which have both Pyro and Saxton Hale as playable characters >.>
In the development of slime rancher they didn’t have a character model so they just used medic until they made a model
great choice in choosing rogue's landing as the song.
In one of the maps in valorant there is a sniper spot with has a case with a sniper rifle and a piss jar next to it. A pretty cool cameo

Also in the Game Speedrunners the Scout is a playable character.
Team Fortress? I love that guy!
the scout tf2 being in half life alex is a sign
Payday 2, train heist, you steal the engineers sentry
Dungeon of the endless, absolutely!
you forgot about the transport: train heist in Payday 2 where you steal the engineer's sentry gun
Yo I would love to see a team fortress 2 characters just shooting down baniks
I think pyro was also a free character in the original Killing Floor.
surprise you didn't mention or acknowledge scout's appearance in Speedrunners

Great video as usual Casperr!
