No, you're right Scott. FF7:R & R are Reimaginings, almost sequels. The issue is though, not that it's a PS5 exclusive, but the fact this really isn't want people wanted. Hell I'd have accepted it if they had kept the ATB, made it similar to Chrono Trigger and kept the expanded lore without the Whispers. What I was hoping for was something like Resident Evil 1's remake on Gamecube (and Subsequent remasters/releases) which is the gold standard of remakes. It has everything the original game has, upgrades and expands upon it, with new areas, lore, better gameplay and graphics. (Something RE2-4 remakes missed) There is also a thing to be said about 1 for 1 remakes, especially when they modernize or help the game with some quality of life features, look at Mario All Stars, Mario RPG (Switch), Final Fantasy 1, 2, 4 on PSP, and the upcoming Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (Switch)
The end to the video recap is absolutely true. I have no desire to get a PS5 and have not played the remake at all because my friends have already beaten and spoiled the heck out of it.
There's a ton of content and mini games are a tiny part. Regarding the genre, only a somewhat small but very vocal group wanted a turn based remake but most people enjoyed the new hybrid action rpg combat. Lastly the term "timelines" is not the most accurrate, developers refer to them as worlds and there is still a lot of mystery around this topic even after this gigantic game.
One thing I hate about this remake is not the remake itself but the after effects for the gaming industry. People now think that remakes have to change everything about the games from the story to the gameplay. people can no longer tell the difference between remakes and remasters
I mean, it's a remake. Nothing about the term says that the game can't be much different from the original. Granted, this game didn't change that much of the story in the grand scheme of things
@@RippahRooJizah Like I said, I have nothing against the game itself. Watch paper mario the thousand-year door there are still people who think it's a remaster. It's just annoying that there is so much confusion from just 1 game
Just a reminder that this IS still a Nomura title. Which means that there will be a part 3. As well as a redux Final edition. Lastly in the year 2028 we will get the FF7 remake remaster Ultimate edition which has all the parts. That’s the one I’m waiting for.
What they did with Barret with was bloody brilliant. What they did with Red was awful. We already had a squeaky bright eyed kid in the group. And his urging the party to let Hojo just WALK AWAY after what he did on the beach is the most bone headed choice imaginable.
For the record, in his design docs, Red XIII has design elements from both Wolves and Lions, with his tail and neck fur being very feline while his body is very mixed (leaning lupine, if I remember correctly). His face has elements of both, and which is dominant is dependent entirely on how you personally view him. I like how you skipped Yuffie when describing the character roles, even though she can be made broken maybe easier then most characters.
Yuffie was one of my fav in the OG just for the way she just enters the party because why not lol And in Intermission and Rebirth she became my fav character she’s just so goofy I love her
The length of time this remake is coming out in is why I haven't played either 7 remake I don't got the best memory and id rather experience the whole story all at once.
Yup. It is. Not really the biggest fan of the multiverse direction, but that’s only because I’m sick of multiverse plots and believe that they’ve been overdone to hell at this point in mainstream media. It makes me feel more “apathetic” towards the narrative and characters.
@@RippahRooJizah Both plots can be boring. When a multiverse plot can be used as a cheap writing tool and used to easily remove permanence, then that’s when I find it annoying. I cannot care what happens to one or more character when multiple copies of them exist out there. I don’t care about Aerith dying and getting sad and angry at the fact that she got killed and how many times she gets killed by the big dumb scary feline that is Sephiroth since now I know that they are still multiple copies of her existing in the other timelines. In a multiverse/multiple timelines plot, death, its permanence, and its impact becomes meaningless and next to nothing. I just can’t care about anything anymore.
@@RippahRooJizah if the original plot’s premise is boring then don’t remake the game. Besides that, you do know it’s still a save the world plot right?
@@Probably_CLOUD It's not removing permanence , though, especially not in Rebirth. Or in the movie, The One, with Jet Li. Have you seen Enter the Spiderverse? In it, Peter Parker (the one Miles knows) is killed. Is his death negated by the existence of the older, out of shape Peter Parker? Not in the slightest. A Peter Parker died, and was a pivotal point in Miles life to see him die. That world lost their Spider-Man and would get a different one. What you are saying would make more sense if, in FF7Reb, the multiple timelines haven't already lived and died, and that the different timelines had different circumstance for different characters, still resulting in different versions of a character, and more importantly are not the versions of the character that the game deems the main character. Also the stakes include Sephiroth trying to eliminate the alternate dimensions as well.
Yeah, speaking of exclusivity being a bad idea, I still haven't gotten around to playing Part 1. The ultra-long wait before it got to Steam killed its momentum for me, and at this point I may just wait until the trilogy is completed before bothering with it. Hell, for that matter, I'm not even that enthused about FF16. Meanwhile, you've got Sega increasingly embracing global cross-platform same-day releases, and seeing big success off of it - like LAD Infinite Wealth being the fastest-selling Like A Dragon game by a wide margin. They even seem seem to be leaning on Atlus to dial back all the console exclusives. Maybe Squeenix could learn something from them.
Another thing to add: will the PS6 come out before 2028? Will you have to own 2 separate consoles just to play the whole game? If they port it instead, will the port actually be a good port or a rushed downgrade?
I kinda get where you are coming from. But to me I felt like a lot of that ghost stuff was them just not having confidence in the game. Instead of just saying "Sephiroth is such a chad that he can change reality itself." they kept pointing to these ghosts over and over to be like "Look! There is some magical extra reason things are different!" When really, you already had the answer right there with an enormous Katana. I don't mind the story being different, but it was a little interesting how the worst parts of Part 1 were all the new ghosty bits, and all the best parts were fun swerves on original events. Seems to me they could have dropped the Kingdom Hearts ghosts entirely, still changed things, and been better for it. TLDR - Just change things, who cares. Honestly even my Sephiroth idea isn't necessary. Just do it and cut all the ghost fluff that adds nothing to the experience.
Play the original if you want to play the original. I don't agree with people saying you "need" to play the original to get the Remake, just know that it *is* a remake.
I got the 1st Remake whilst I didn't have a PS5 yet, and for soME REASON THE DLC DIDN'T EVEN DROP ON THAT! I'm not going to repurchase the literal exact same game just for some Yuffie DLC even though I would've on the PS4
Probably want to save on some budget (different textures on top of taking advantage of what the PS5 can do, which is more than simply "better graphics") and time, not to mention perhaps avoiding more complaints about the level textures like some did for the Remake.
As an original FF7 hater, I actually absolutely loved FF7's Remake. A lot of what I disliked got "fixed" (or I just grew out of my edgy teen years, one of the two), and I was having a blast. Cleared the whole game and was greatly anticipating the next installment. It *_FINALLY_* gets announced.... for PS5..... I had it for PS4. So how was I supposed to play it? It was for a system that was both insanely expensive and rare at the time. I'm not going to buy a whole system for ONE game, I'm poor. It was a MAJORLY stupid decision on their part. If they had decided to put the next installment on PS4 as well, I would have absolutely gotten it (and maybe even the Intergrade), but because they just _HAD_ to put it on the PS5, they cut out a HUGE swath of people who started it on PS4, but couldn't afford a PS5. The absolute hell were they thinking? Did they think we were just going to saunter out and buy a PS5 after that news? It boils my blood all over again just thinking about it.
You make a great point about exclusivity and yeeeears of waiting killing the hype, but I also think that there’s an element of novelty to all this that has faded since Remake came out, and people just aren’t as interested anymore. Now that there’s no mystery surrounding the fact that this trilogy is a sequel, I find myself wishing it was just an actual remake instead, because none of the new stuff they’re doing with the story is anywhere near as good as OG FF7.
From what I can tell the game is selling pretty well and I know I personally see a ton of people playing and talking about it so I don't know where you got the impression people aren't interested anymore? I do agree that the game should have come to other platforms at launch though the game would look so great on PC.
@@koifish835really? A couple weeks back square released an interview talking about how the game didn't reach their projected sales and did worse than Remake or something.
And Remake/Rebirth are saddled with the unfortunate task of having to work in all of the FF7 Compilation material. But that's the only pass it gets, because this art style direction and the awful, taking-turns, static, melodramatic dialogue are all from two decades ago and they aged like milk.
I know all my hype died waiting for exclusivity to end. FF16 looks like the funnest FF to me in years but it's not on PC. The FF7 remakes went from "oh man I can't wait to get it on PC" to "eh I can wait for a trilogy pack on steam" in the SLOW time it's been taking to get out. This even happened with the PS5 and scalpers. There's was a point I was thinking actually getting one seems like a fun idea if you could actually go to a store and buy one. But now I'm so used to waiting consoles don't matter and I can just catch up on the later released PC versions. Heck with my Steam deck I can play all those delayed releases on the go now and I've sure there will be a deck 2 by the time I have to worry about FF7 trilogy.
It hurts, but it is kinda true that I’m probably the only person in a 500-mile radius that bothered to get a PS5 (and I finally got it as a gift, so I can’t be ungrateful). It honestly would feel backwards playing on a home console tethered to a TV after playing FF7 Remake on the go via my Steam Deck. But at least I have an excuse to play Bloodborne again.
Cc gacha update idea: augment chips. These microchips give your personal cc unique abilities or "power words." Here's some examples: fire chip: "fireball!," air chip: "tornado!"
Really hope this comes to PC like Remake did, because I refuse to buy a PS5 just for this game. It started partway through the PS4/Xbone generation for me, but I really only game on PCs these days. It makes way more sense to me to have a single, versatile platform for games rather than play the fool's game that is generational console wars.
I'm Really glad i wasn't the only one who held that opinion for Yuffie. And also Hardcore agree about Barrett and Dyne. That scene hits so differently in HD 3D..

What I was hoping for was something like Resident Evil 1's remake on Gamecube (and Subsequent remasters/releases) which is the gold standard of remakes. It has everything the original game has, upgrades and expands upon it, with new areas, lore, better gameplay and graphics. (Something RE2-4 remakes missed)
There is also a thing to be said about 1 for 1 remakes, especially when they modernize or help the game with some quality of life features, look at Mario All Stars, Mario RPG (Switch), Final Fantasy 1, 2, 4 on PSP, and the upcoming Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (Switch)
The end to the video recap is absolutely true. I have no desire to get a PS5 and have not played the remake at all because my friends have already beaten and spoiled the heck out of it.
"Yuffie is annoying"
Chadley: Am I a construct to you?
Chadley I didn't find annoying 95% of the time.
Leave my boy Chadley alone!

IMAGINE DROPPING A ROBO CHOCOBO LEGENDARY FROG REFERENCE
Holy crap that's a blast from the past.
Nondescript mammal aside, a big red lion-thing that can talk and has a dangerous tail? We call those manticores.
A Legendary Frog reference? Right off the bat? In 2024?
Frog didnt make the song, its a OCRemix he used for the video.
I’m waiting for PC but goddamn this game looks so good. The MUSIC in this game sounds even more *godly* from Remake
For the record, in his design docs, Red XIII has design elements from both Wolves and Lions, with his tail and neck fur being very feline while his body is very mixed (leaning lupine, if I remember correctly). His face has elements of both, and which is dominant is dependent entirely on how you personally view him.
I like how you skipped Yuffie when describing the character roles, even though she can be made broken maybe easier then most characters.
this square enix saw how attack on titan was released and thought they were cookiing
12:28 Wait. Isn't FF16 met their expectation? Which article is this from?
Yuffie was one of my fav in the OG just for the way she just enters the party because why not lol
And in Intermission and Rebirth she became my fav character she’s just so goofy I love her
The length of time this remake is coming out in is why I haven't played either 7 remake I don't got the best memory and id rather experience the whole story all at once.

I’m glad someone made a video mirroring a lot of my thoughts on the game. I feel like recently all I’ve been seeing online is hate for it
I think the yellow paint is in areas commonly traveled in by other people, so some npc might have painted those to mark routes for other climbers
Yo new ScottFalco videooooo
That reference to that old Newgrounds animation at the beginning made me turn into a pile of dust from how old it made me feel.
Love the Legendary Frog reference at the begining of the video! ...Now I gotta watch that again.
Can’t wait for the Lob Corp stream
honestly shocked you didn't mention anything about the ending...It's...ummmmmmmm...definitely something
Yup. It is. Not really the biggest fan of the multiverse direction, but that’s only because I’m sick of multiverse plots and believe that they’ve been overdone to hell at this point in mainstream media. It makes me feel more “apathetic” towards the narrative and characters.
@@Probably_CLOUD I mean, overdone compared to what? Saving the world plots? If anything multiverse plots are comparatively more novel.
0:25 They don't like self insert fanfiction
Legendary Frog reference right out of the gate? Hot damn. Talk about a blast from the past.
Sega isn't even remotely original in that. Sad that Squeenix don't get it.
I also thought it was a dog at first, I guess it's because you don't expect feline to behave like that
5:13 Well yeah. You don't get the PHS until you leave Midgar in the original, so the party thing makes sense.
Mine biggest gripe is how the entire re-make is separated into multiple games.
This could not be one game, it would have to be way too condensed.
Even then I just don't see other way they could have done it justice otherwise. For a game as monumental as FF7 I'd say the scale is warranted.
Why the PS5 hate its selling perfectly well? Keeping up with what the PS4 had done in the same number of months
Another thing to add: will the PS6 come out before 2028? Will you have to own 2 separate consoles just to play the whole game? If they port it instead, will the port actually be a good port or a rushed downgrade?
Nanaki said he is a lab rat dog at the end of remake when they are surrounded by Heidegger
within the first few seconds "I GET THAT REFERANCE"
I generally disagreed with people saying the ghosts were bad, just different.
Guh, Ha! Ugk! That definitely sums every confrontation between cloud and sephy doesn't it?
There are crafting exclusive items, but to get then you need to explore the regions. So it's worthit.
Sword fighter cc is adorable. Always love the fanart at the end of the videos!
So should I play the original BEFORE I play the remake bits or should I just play the new stuff? Also how do you recommend I play the OG?
Play the original if you want to play the original. I don't agree with people saying you "need" to play the original to get the Remake, just know that it *is* a remake.
@@RippahRooJizah ok but like what do I play it on? Where can I play it?

What do you mean you can hold R2 to speed up the climbing up the yellow bars on the walls?
I FINISHED THE WHOLE GAME GOING SO SLOWLY UP THOSE ;w;
It boils my blood all over again just thinking about it.
go out and earn some money. it's not that expensive. a PS5 is like a day's wages for me.
For Red XIII, the reason I always default to calling him a dog is because of his connection to the Moon, like with that one Limit Break.
People thought he was a dog? Dude looks like a lion.
@@infinitezion2029game sales for their own games never reach their expectations
Final Fantasy 7 Brotherhood. Gotcha 😁

Really hope this comes to PC like Remake did, because I refuse to buy a PS5 just for this game. It started partway through the PS4/Xbone generation for me, but I really only game on PCs these days. It makes way more sense to me to have a single, versatile platform for games rather than play the fool's game that is generational console wars.
it will eventually, epic games first, then steam, but who knows when
@@pippofranco879 they did not. its on steam.
