Okay, so their late drummer Jimmy is a HUGE fan of Tim Burton and his twisted productions. My understanding is that this was his homage to that style and even got some backing horn work from some people that worked previously for Danny Elfman of Oingo Boingo fame, who is a frequent musical collaborator of Tim's. It's got an animated music video that helps people visualize what's taking place in the song. It's kind of Jimmy's magnum opus before his tragic passing. Hilarious in it's macabre absurdity. Def check out the actual video at some point even if on your own time.
Mark Mann did all of the orchestra for the self titled album too

Also, So Far Away is fantastic, it's over the loss of their drummer The Rev, who did some of the vocals in this song, and I think he even wrote this one among many others
He helped Syn write it for Syn grandpa but after The Rev died Syn changed the lyrics

Avenged Sevenfold is in heavy rotation in my musical life. Some other tunes to consider: Buried Alive, Trashed & Scattered, Nightmare, Afterlife, The Stage, and the album version of Beast and the Harlot. I could go on and on. They really are a versatile group.

I forgot about this Heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold....and now I remember the first time experiencing them was in a Heavy Metal Festival......when I friend dragged me to the festival............They were Excellent .....very Talented....Very Theatrical!!!! And they performed some songs that sounded like it should have been in a Broadway Musical!!!! I would love to seen this song in concert!!!!

While this one was dark and sinister, the song "So Far Away" will tug at your heart. It's about the loss of their bandmate (drummer) James "Jimmy" Owen Sullivan (February 9, 1981 - December 28, 2009) Fun fact! Jimmy wrote this song "A little piece of Heaven."
As a huge A7X fan, I enjoyed this reaction a lot. There are many more good songs for them. So far away is a song for their drummer (the Rev) who passed away and it is very good

That’s what I love about metal. A good metal song, you should be able to envision it being in a play. Now this song specifically is a little more of a literal example of a play-like composition. But still. Listen to avenged, Iron Maiden, megadeth, Judas Priest, Metallica, and many of their songs could be on Broadway. You have a great ear.
